The goal of #wvedchat is to provide educators an opportunity to connect, share, and learn from others by engaging in conversations around issues and topics in education.
A0: Randy - Educator, Technology Specialist, & Podcaster from Huntington. My time off this summer runs from June 27 to July 8. Not a lot of time but I have a great podcast interview lined up with @RyanSaxe, Superintendent of @CabellSchools during that time! #WVEdChat
A1: Keeping my job. Originally it was cut in the state budget fiasco, but the district picked it up and funded it locally. #SuperExcited when I got that phone call! #WVEdChat
A1: (cont.) I've also been able to find a passion for podcasting to share some of the great things other educators are doing (https://t.co/bBzRiXgtZp) and share some of my own knowledge (https://t.co/wahxWV2V6G). #WVEdChat
A1: My highlight of the year is something that I am finishing up now. It is a co-teaching unit with a language arts teacher that I am really proud of. Our kids have really rocked it out and it has made the last days of school fly by! #WVEdChat
Ashley Torres, currently a 4th grade teacher in Berkeley County. I’m looking forward to spending this summer adjusting to becoming a family of 4! #WVEdChat
A1: Every Friday during our STEAM Tinker Time. The kids have so much fun! One of my favorite activities, build a safe house for The Three Little Pigs. The wolf was a 3 speed fan! #wvedchat
#AWESOME You should consider making that unit available to others to check out. It's always about working smarter, not harder right? We all love free stuff to check out. #WVEdChat
A1: This year I was able to find my passion in teaching - instructional technology and curriculum. I’m looking forward to more of it in the near future :) #WVEdChat
A0: Coming in to #wvedchat a little late! Long day - field day and Title I Summer Reading Kickoff family event! I am looking forward to unplugging, reading some fiction (nothing informational or at all related to education), and relaxing with the family!
I have recently started listening to podcasts (mostly true crime type of stuff). I haven't listened to any educational ones yet, but I will have to check them out. Any suggestions? #WVEdChat
A1: Just ONE? This year was my 1st as a principal at the school where I was a S & another small school in my hometown, it was a series of highlights. Even in the tough times, I learned so much! The highlight is that I get to work w/ awesome Ts & Ss everyday! #wvedchat
A2: I recently was able to successfully setup a deployment to convert all of @putnamwvschools to the @Office365 version of office to get all the great new features and faster updates. #DoesThatCount? #WVEdChat
A2: The kids enjoyed using @Flipgrid They used it to explain economics and goods and services. Had another group who told a tale of their voyage to Jamestown. #WVEdChat
A1: We had a rough gang this year, and I spent much of last summer worried about how things would go. Here we are at the end of the year, and we had an awesome time. This has been one of my favorite years; I’m really going to miss these kids! #wvedchat
A3: I’d like to do some research and growing in the area of working with students who experience trauma, and how to help them thrive in the school setting. We’re seeing it more and more, and need to better equip ourselves. #WVEdChat
A3: Honestly, I plan to learn nothing this summer. Last summer I finished my Master's and started the TIS program. This summer I plan to rest my brain. #wvedchat
A3: Learn how to make my own .stl 3D printer files. I’d like our kids to print their own creations rather than something that another person has made. #WVEdChat
A3: I am going to the Pearl S. Buck Institute for a three day conference in Morgantown. The rest of summer I plan gathering ideas for some of my standards. I want to change things up a little next year with my Ancient History and Econ units. #WVEdChat
A3: One of my goals is to work on a curriculum pacing guide for technology standards. I’m also working on a year long PD idea that I’d like to implement at my school next year. #WVEdChat
A4: #WelcomeToTheGRIND by @randallsampson is outstanding! I have a copy that I plan to give away over the next month. Check out https://randallblackshow and my Twitter for upcoming details. #WVEdChat
A4: I read through Innovator's Mindset at the start of the year, while I did not read every single word, that is because there were parts that really resonated with me that I wanted to focus on! Ss should leave your classroom more curious than when they entered... WOW! #wvedchat
Elizabeth Louise Cobb @graham_ecobb Isn't that the way it goes? The students or path we believe will be the toughest always gives us great rewards! Bravo! #wvedchat
A4: I wish I could pretend like I’m going to have time to read this summer but I don’t see it happening! Any reading I can do this summer will probably be able new Apple apps and device management. #WVEdChat
Q3 Elizabeth Louise Cobb #graham_ecobb My professional goals for this summer are getting my PLN started. Great lessons and neat ideas to explore! #WVEdChat
A4: I read Culturize by @casas_jimmy, #Empowerbook by John Spencer & AJ Juliani & The Four O'Clock Faculty by @RACzyz#wvedchat All great! My summer reading - looking for fiction. :) I lied (accidentally) - signed up for book study for Let Them Speak by @RebeccaCoda@RickJetter
A5: I'd love to see us examine 1:1 more closely than we have. We also need to find ways to streamline and stanardize the technology processes across the county to make it more easily accessible for our teachers in the schools. #WVEdChat
#wvedchat A5: Starting anew again. I'd like to see a day-long Edcamp in the county. We're big enough and could generate a lot of donations, give away a ton of prizes. Putting learning in the hands of our teachers!
A5: Implementing our strategic plan. This year was my observation year. I really want to set some traditions and make some progress on specific goals next year. Continue to build relationships with students, staff, families, and community. #wvedchat
#WVEdChat Embed questions/answers in QR codes - students love this! Join https://t.co/UHpbyc9QyM - you will discover innovative tech lessons! Elizabeth Louise Cobb@graham_ecobb
A5: I’m sticking with my goal of having Ss create for the 3D printer. The plan is to have the 5th gr Ss set up a little store where they could sell items they print. There will be budgeting and economics involved. They could use the profit to help pay for 5th trip. #WVEdChat
A2: Next year I’d love to be more available to my colleagues to help them with integration, implementation, and troubleshooting as needed. I love the idea of open doors, collaboration, and welcomed co-teaching #WVEdChat
A5: #wvedchat Goals include to continue working with our science standards and outdoor learning environments; coding in all classrooms; and learning about 3D printing
A5: Relationship building! Between myself and students, myself and staff, myself and families, and helping students to better cultivate relationships with their peers. I had this as more of a focus this year than ever before, and had excellent results! #WVEdChat
I was asked on a job interview once what I thought the job of a TIS was. I said relationships. You have the same idea and seem to have it down pat! #WVEdChat
#WVEdChat Recap
@WVEdChatRecap
would like to utilize more videos/ document camera for students. I am planning auditory (recordings and guest speakers) for my auditory learners and have started a 'toolkit' for kinesthetic learners, Excited! Elizabeth Louise Cobb@graham_ecobb
A3: #WVEdChat summer goals are to read two PD books and learn more ways to use tech and #GSuiteEDU in the classroom. Discovering new ways to use products that will make the most sense for my Ts and Ss
Q7: Throw out some topics you’d like to see the chat discuss throughout the rest of the year. And if you’re willing to moderate, let @WVEdChatRecap, @RGBlack316, or @Mr_Oldfield know! #WVEdChat
#WVEdChat Yes, streamlining the technology processes across the county/country - WOW! - but soooo much for differentiating the curriculum and utilization to explore as well! Elizabeth Louise Cobb @ graham_ecobb
I'm looking to add more content to the https://t.co/PWtIixoCt4 site. Any interested educators that would like to blog for the site, let me know. Also looking for people interested in taking part in the podcast. Re-launching things this summer! #WVEdChat
