Welcome to the #ETCoaches twitter chat on Patio PD: Balancing Personal & Professional Growth in the Summer Months!
Please introduce yourself & share your title & where you are from!
Hi everyone! I’m Ronit (pronounced row-neat), Instructional Tech Coach from Northbrook, IL. I’m excited to “host” ISTE in my hometown next month! #ETCoaches
Good afternoon, I am Joyce Rigelo, a co-founder of @AutoAutoAI. I am happy to join #etcoaches today, and I am here to learn more about what teachers need. 🙂
#ETCoaches A1. Calm mornings with no running kids to 3 different schools. And of course traveling (both personally and ISTE) and just slowing down life a bit.
A2. This summer, I'm looking forward to taking time to explore new resources shared by my fellow Google EDU Trainers. Also,
coaching ideas shared by my #ETCoaches PLN!
A2: Continuing my deep dive into #digcit- I’m slightly obsessed with @JCasaTodd#socalLEADia right now. Also excited to explore the shift from just teaching coding to teaching computer science across the curriculum #ETCoaches
A2: I am interested in the idea of digital citizenship is the new citizenship, educators becoming more knowledgeable about social media, #PBL, the power of feedback, and computational thinking. #Digcit#digitalcitizenship#ETCOACHES
Power of feedback is so important. I'm hoping to do more work with teachers and students around reflection and publication. Lots of opportunity! #ETCoaches
A3: I will be on the road this summer going to districts around the country and engaging with educators at conferences. How do you like to receive virtual training? #ETCOACHES
A3: This summer is all about Patio PD for me! With @iste in Chicago, other local learning opportunities, and participating in virtual book clubs, the learning is always near! #ETCoaches
A3. BOTH! I am going back for a new certificate from Penn State (on my way to PHD slowly), attending the virtual world campus. I am also leading a book study and several virtual workshops. And finally, I am on the #ETCoaches leadership and attending (and presenting) at ISTE.
OMG please help with this! What ever you can do it is such a crutch and I am totally willing to admit it is one of mine. We need to think outside the ppt/slideshow box...#ETCoaches
We've been piloting digital portfolios, and would like to use them more next year as a tool for reflection on the learning process and making learning visible. Publication as an extension, since our students prefer video and media platforms! #ETCoaches
#ETCoaches - topics vary greatly, but my favorite formats include BYOD (or ByodEX) and interactive lectures. I like to DO something while I am in sessions, not just "sit and get." You get one BYOD per day with your basic registration, but can line up and go standby for many.
A4: I will post on Twitter all the events I am going to and I will attach certificates and badges I receive to my @LinkedIn and share it with my colleagues. I think more educators should utilize Linkedin it is like a professional digital portfolio #ETCOACHES
Awesome! I read Learning First with the #ETCoaches book study, and we are using @TripleEFrame in my district. Our 1:1 iPad rollout is actually called “Learning First” because of some of our takeaways from the book

A4: Variety is key to engage all learners! We have built up our instructional tech site for self-paced learning and browsing, set up playgrounds to get teachers signed up on Twitter, and made some good ‘ol folders with handouts #ETCoaches
A4. #ETCoaches - we invite folks to our virtual workshops, Twitter chats, and book studies via our weekly updates and emails. We also "advertise" on Twitter and other platforms.
#ETCoaches - This is what I love about ISTE, so many options to learn. See I am the opposite and don't get as much out of playgrounds and posters, but I know MANY agree with you. The variety is great!

A5. #ETCoaches - We have a few local trips planned to the beach and mountains. I will also (hopefully) get a massage or two. :). My main goal, which will be HARD, is to try to unplug a few times during the summer for a few days. My job is year-round and the work is there waiting
A5: Traveling to Berlin, Munich, and Prague! Although I’ll definitely bring some professional books along for train rides... going to spend lots of time outside at home, too #ETCoaches
A6: Saring my learning with teachers! Building up our technology site and trying out different approaches to professional learning other than the “sit & get.” Playgrounds were successful for us this year, so including more of those #ETCoaches
