Welcome to . Who is joining us tonight? Any newbies? (Hope so!)

If anyone can see my posts...I once AGAIN am in Twitter Jail for my invites! I may have to figure out a new way to invite.
-
-
I think cooperation is largely going along with what someone else wants, collaboration is co-creating what you both want.
-
Hi, ! I may not be here until 11:00 but I'll be here at least for the start. :-)
-
I agree and think this is a good distinction.
-
Hey, - sorry you're having Twitter issues again!
-
-
-
Q1: How is collaboration different from cooperation?
-
A1: cooperation is physically working together. Collaboration is mentally working together.
-
Geesh!! I think I know why-too many Tweets b/c of the invites. I did it differently last wk and it made a difference.
-
-
I like that it takes both physical and mental to add to the mix! https://t.co/iRaJQJ9JCu

Spring Break, sickness, and conferences. Missed being here!
-
Good evening - hope everyone is doing well :)!
-
-
Team. Collaboration. Much preferred over competition.
-
A1:
Cooperation is working with others, collaboration is making the collective stronger
-
A1 cooperation comes from your head, collaboration is from the heart.
-
From For those on who can get my posts: I like this:
TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More)

-
Scott from Texas along with Rocky and Bullwinkle lurking in and out. Finishing some re-planning. Little under the weather.
-
True that Deb! When there is competition there is often delayed cooperation. https://t.co/DAyZ2xXt2S

Team. Collaboration. Much preferred over competition.
-
Is that why your invite disappeared? I wondered!
-
Yes...this is crazy! I am going to have to do the invites the day before or under a new twitter name.
-
Have you posted a question yet,
-
-
-
A1: Cooperation is me letting you run with your idea or vice versa, collaboration is we do it together, shared idea.
-
Q2: What wd describes the district/school/workplace that you are in: cooperative, collaborative, siloed, autocratic, etc.
-
Evening Liz Davis, from Ontario checking in for a short time! Been too long
-

All of the above depending on context- work very hard to be collaborative lead from all levels org tho
-
We will miss you tonight on , Faige.
-
tweets aren't coming through to all. I'm feeding the questions, and is here too!
-
A2: cooperative, collaborative, siloed, or autocratic.... All of the above depending on the day and circumstances
-
A1: Cooperation is compromise. Collaboration is intentional work. May get messy, but all are about the same things.
-
A1 Collaboration seems more equal than cooperation. To me cooperation implies that someone's a leader and you work with them.
-
Please use in your responses to the questions.
-
-
A2: I don't describe the workplace that I am in. That's not my preferred use of Twitter. Tweets are my own!
-
Prof Susan in IL here for awhile. Long day. Up teaching 3 hr class at 5:30 this a.m.
Then indiv confs with Ss in afternoon
-
A2 Collaboration is our ideal; we often achieve it. Elements of older hierarchy persist; we're working to root them out.
-
A2: All of the things you mention. LOL!
-
Agree...also think collaboration is active and cooperation could be passive or active
-
A2 My experience has been more like, 'You know your child better than anyone." "We know better than you so shut up."
-
Lots going on and am grateful that you--and everyone here--find the time to join . You all add so much!
-
Thanks for being here! https://t.co/jTTGa0Q4ol

A2. Both collabo. & coop. But ideally collaboration to support collective mission of ensuring the best possible edu for Ss
-
-
A1: Cooperation is less than 100%. Collaboration is more than 100%.
-
A2 Often have only been given lip service about collaboration most of the time.
-
I don't understand what happened. You are only allowed so many tagged tweets in succession?
-
Doing okay. Snow day today. Hope you're feeling better.
-
-
Collaboration means that there is a joint or group leadership. It focuses more on partnering https://t.co/U6dDGikZ4B
-
-
A1: Cooperation is compromise. Collaboration is intentional work. May get messy, but all are about the same things.
-
We still love you! . Maybe this is strengthening your resiliency? LOL
-
-
Jealous of your snow day! I'm definitely healthy again. Always happy to find you online and learn together.
-
Q3: Has your dist./scl or place of wk been talking abt collaboration as a concept to embrace? For staff? Students? Other?
-
-
REALLY!! I am trying desperately to not take it personally. Hehehehe.
-
Tks. Yes but I usually seem to avoid it. Must be the squirrels!
-
A3 Some talk of collaborating with parents, but that remains to be seen.
-
A3: And parents! We are bringing as many parents/ comm members and students into the decision making process.
-
A3: No. I wish we would. That would be innovative thinking.
-
-
A3: More in terms of staff and teachers. Nothing beyond group work for ss
-
A3 In my District we have a goal of having all teachers have an opportunity to collaborate with their grade level teams.
-
it is the work...school improvement is our focus-focused, precise intentional collaboration is key
-
A2 Oooh, public confessions.
Well, most know I'm in higher ed.

Q2: What wd describes the district/school/workplace that you are in: cooperative, collaborative, siloed, autocratic, etc.
-
A3: at my workplace, we collaborate all levels together so we seek the desired goal. We are a village.
-
A3 We definitely talk abut it. Looking to increase student leadership, both through new positions and committees w/faculty.
-
-
A3.yes, collaborative learning/teaching enviros, including parents, &community. We share collective vision: what's best 4 Ss
-
Ts must have time to coplan, colearn and coteach..reflection on this is critical for improvement and learning
-
They are indeed! LOL https://t.co/JoMyWupse8

Sounds Marvelous! collaboration on many levels! https://t.co/F0E6NpjunP
-
-
A3: Mission/vision development workshop inc teachers, admin, parents, comm members, and students! The Ss made that workshop!
-
A3 Need to teach all students how to collaborate, not bully, to perceive all on the same team. Need teamwork skills for life
-
-
Why did you put collaboration in quotes?
-
A4: Benefits? Growth and change. Forward movement. Progress.
-
-
A4 If done right, greater depth of thought, more buy-in, stronger relationships, happier people.
-
A4: all voices are HEARD.
-
A4.Growth. Leveraging everyone's strengths to become a powerful one which represents collective wisdom. Sum of parts > whole
-
I did that. It isn't necessary. Thanks,
-
A4: Generating various ideas, breeds creativity, gives everyone a chance to contribute in their unique way
-
A4. Collaboration provides new Ts a chance to be guided, but also provide input & add new view
-
Happy happy joy joy! https://t.co/jXiWvEZvTc
-
-
A4 If done right, greater depth of thought, more buy-in, stronger relationships, happier people.
-
A4 Benefits of collaboration is one of mutual respect. Not simply one tolerating the other as may be true with cooperation.
-
Indeed! https://t.co/r6Hd8uQQeG
-
-
A4 If done right, greater depth of thought, more buy-in, stronger relationships, happier people.
-
Learning :) richer, deeper and more impact for staff and students
-
A4 The beauty of ideas & positive actions that come from unity w diversity. Like a beautiful garden https://t.co/LW89ADzaE0
-
-
Q4: What are the benefits of "collaboration?"
-
LOVE LOVE LOVE your response. Amen!
-
Love this! https://t.co/LC93WKWl7g
-
-
A4. Collaboration provides new Ts a chance to be guided, but also provide input & add new view
-
and everyone's ideas are valued - key to collaboration and consensus
-
A4 When people give me lip service, I am not being invited to collaborate. More like pretense of cooperation.
-
-
Q5: What are the challenges of collaboration?
-
A4 Benefit of collaboration is that all ideas are given equal weight. Everyone is taken seriously.
-
Not fond of phrase "buy-in" I think of it as a power wd. I would rather have ppl say they have "shared ownership"
-
So important that people feel valued. It makes work a much more desirable of an atmosphere. Positive all the time.
-
Yes, so important for all to be included! Great ideas and strategies from new folks as well! https://t.co/IEmQw0FE4r
-
-
A4. Collaboration provides new Ts a chance to be guided, but also provide input & add new view
-
A5 For many people, for many reasons, disagreeing effectively is a tough skill to acquire.
-
A5: Remembering that people, by and large, come with good intentions. I tend to forget this, esp. when lobbying for my POV.
-
A5: Challenges of? Accommodating many voices/opinions. Challenges to: smarty pants and freaky power tripping leaders
-
A5: stronger voices. Desire of credit for contribution.
-
A5 Challenges of collaboration is letting everyone have a voice. Having everyone feel as if they matter.
-
A5 It's also tough when people are approaching a situation w/totally different & incompatible mindsets. How to resolve?!
-
A5 - Sometimes an individual may have too much ego invested in one idea, which limits overall collaboration.
-
Hopin' the Veteran Ts is also as willing to let new voices in
-
Ego is what we have to rid--not only in collaboration but also in life. ;)
-
That's actually the concept I was thinking of - I do like your word better. Or "investment" maybe.
-
A5: Too many chefs in the kitchen
-
A4 Benefit of collaboration-> hybrid vigor.
Diversity of ideas combined. Healthy clash of ideas => truth & effective action.
-
Collaboration can be SOOOO messy. But we must work at not taking differences and conflict personally.
-
A5: Losing sight of the goal which is to improve student learning experiences
-
Q6: Share a time or project when staff or Ss successfully engaged in a collaborative process and had a positive outcome.
-
A5. Shared goal/vision (Ss) must be clear, Deep listening, keeping pos., accepting diverse views, respectfully, empathy, etc.
-
-
-
That's my toughest one - I try to de-center myself, but am deeply committed to a few "incontrovertible" values.
-
yes because that can be a major challenge
-
A5 Challenge of collaboration is when lack of unified purpose descends from a clash of ideas into a clash of persons.
-
A5. Vet Ts may not like new voices
-
-
A6 Joint student-faculty committee wrote an excellent iPad Acceptable Use Policy; influence of parents helped.
-
-
Urg. True, but urg. I try to go out of my way at my school to tell new teachers to jump right in. :-)
-
flip side, new T may have that view towards legit criticism
-
Thank you for the inspiration! Have a wonderful week :)!
-
A6: My Spanish 4 students, who are currently working on a bog project/presentation. Very proud of them so far!
-
A5 In the process of collaboration or consultation, one is to offer one's thoughts as a gift to the discussion.
-
-
Sorry; I'm not exactly sure what you mean. That new teachers may see things that legit need fixing?
-
Why does this hour fly by every time?????
-
Yes. I love referring to contributions to conversations as gifts.
-
yep. I sometimes have to fight that urge, or think I may be ignoring criticism
-
A3: Principal set up staff walk thru program w/ QR Code for each T linked to Google .doc
-
Because we like each other and we're actively involved in a great conversation?????
-
: Can each of us enter our workplace tomorrow with the intent of and w/?
-
Thank you for an engaging chat. Just what the doctor ordered. love to you all and have the best week possible! 🍉💖
-
Awwww...music to my ears--I am doing the Happy Dance.
-
Probably. So engaging! love it!
-
Q7: What are you going to do tomorrow as a result of tonight?
-
Right back at 'cha, Jenny!
-
Many of us do, me included. But if I'm going to be a person of my word, I *have* to be ready to listen.
-
A6: *Big* project. My apologies.
-

-

-
A7: Spread some random acts of kindness throughout my day.
-
-
A7: Extend respect to all I meet.
-
Thanks to everyone for joining in tonight! Great input from each of you!!!
-
A4: Kids First! Let's Teach! NO EXCUSES!
-
Thanks again, and again, and again to all for collaborating in making this a great night of !
-
A7: Approach everyone as having good intentions, and the best interests of others.
-
-
A7: NY kids take the new, untimed Comm Core test tomorrow so I need to collab with Ts in order for testing to run smoothly
-
Another hearty thanks to my partner on I know I can always count on you to bail me out of Twitter Jail.
