#NVedchat is dedicated to increasing communication and collaboration of education related topics in the State of Nevada. Originally, created by Mr. Snehal Bhakta.
Let’s start by introducing yourself, giving a S/O to another educator(s) using their twitter handle & share your favorite flavor of ice cream or dessert of choice. #NVedchat
Hey #nvedchat. i throw this out there..I am going to be in Vegas July 2nd -5th.. anyone wanna meet up for coffee..(not sure how many of you are Vegas residents).
Hey #nvedchat, Kyle in Las Vegas, my favorite ice creams are not available in Nevada, but they are Mackinac Island Fudge and Superman, both from Michigan, but a favorite currently in NV is Ben & Jerry's Americone Dream. Got time to jump in @BDicksonNV@MsHaughs@SaraHolm15?

Q1-When is the last time you said thank you to any of your students, teachers, admin, or anyone that wasn’t related to turning in an assignment or education? #NVedchat
A1: One of my colleagues hosted an end of the year potluck/beer party at his house this weekend, thanked him, his wife, and my coworkers for a great Saturday night! #nvedchat

Q1-When is the last time you said thank you to any of your students, teachers, admin, or anyone that wasn’t related to turning in an assignment or education? #NVedchat
A1 I thank students for good behavior in class & try to thank Admin & teachers for things that stand out to me like #collaboration or doing something beyond what was expected #nvedchat
Q1-When is the last time you said thank you to any of your students, teachers, admin, or anyone that wasn’t related to turning in an assignment or education? #NVedchat
A1 I try to thank my students every day, multiple times a day. Positive reinforcement for those following directions/being awesome and usually during Closing Circle for the day that we had together. #nvedchat
A2: We are constantly the scapegoat of society's issues, it feels like thanks and appreciation only comes during Teacher Appreciation Week, but if I was in this job for thanks, I would have quit a long time ago #nvedchat
R2: our thanks are when we have a student that accomplishes great things. It isn’t necessarily a “thank you” but a look what I am doing. It’s because of you.... #NVedchat
I am in a bit of a dark place today, but I feel as though sometimes students forget we are people sometimes.. with feelings and good intentions.. #nvedchat
A2: unfortunately must stay under the radar or risk misunderstandings that could go public. Part of being a public servant ... not much gratitude #NVedchat
A2 I think this is one big reason why teaching littles is so satisfying. They're not afraid to hug or say I love you. It can be easy to know that they appreciate you. #nvedchat
A2-For everything educators have to deal with...students, admin, parents, community, boards, etc...we probably need a thank you at least every day. #NVedchat
R2: I learned a long time ago that if I wait for Ss, parents, admins, etc to say thanks, I would be disappointed. So when they do say “thanks”, it’s a pleasant surprise. #NVedchat
I’m not someone that needs a pat on the back or a nice job/thanks daily. Maybe not even weekly, but hearing it occasionally is a good thing. I worked at a job as an admin where I always heard the bad stuff and never the good stuff from my upper level admin. Got old. #NVedchat
A3: I think that once students see what they have compared to others, they will be more thankful. Most of them don’t look past their own lifestyle, it’s sad but true. Heck, I need to be better at this also! #NVedchat
A3: Sorry joining late. I really think the only way to teach people to be thankful is to give them opportunities to help those less fortunate. #nvedchat
Kevin...I appreciate and thank you for participating in #NVedchat. Sending you a virtually "high five" and "pat on the back".
Keep rocking it man! #NVedchat
a3).. I also try to use my privilege to show gratitude.. help people out less fortunate, support charities.. thankfulness to me includes paying it forward #nvedchat#payitforward
R3: I’m finishing writing letters to my students for the end of the year. I have done this for about 9 years now. Little comments about doing better, working hard, reaching potential, etc. It takes time. I think showing we care is a way of giving thanks. #NVedchat
A3 @Teach4SpclNeeds taught me about Kindness Parades several years ago and we prepare for and conduct them several times a year. The Ss enjoy them and LOVE the reactions they get. #nvedchat
A3-I would thank my students when I did roll call. One day a students asked me why.
I said, "I appreciate you coming to my class today...Thank you for making an effort."
Personally, I think the class was clapping mentally when I said it...
#NVedchat
I make sure to send home emails to parents at random points in the year sharing how much I appreciate the opportunity to educate their children and the successes going on in my room #NVedchat
I am almost finished with 145 of them. Hand written. It’s worth it. I have some kids that have told me they frame them over their bed so they see it first thing in the morning. I have some that throw them in the trash. #NVedchat
One thing I like about @RemindHQ is that I can send a quick message to a student.. I am proud of you or great job.. without making it a big deal. #nvedchat
R4: There are so many people I’m thankful for. @LCHSBears for giving me the opportunity to do the only thing I’m good at. All of you for listening to me every week. My family for loving me. #EDpiper#IDedchat#INeLearn#NVedchat
Thank you to @ClarkCountySch and the hundreds of educators that I have had the pleasure of working with over the past 13 years! I look forward to my next chapter shaping the future of students in Northern Nevada #nvedchat#ccsd#cteinccsd
a4) Thank you to any student who takes a minute to tell a teacher that they made a difference.. Generally when that happens to me, it is usually when I need it most.. Know that reaching out to a former teacher is never foolish and always loved. #nvedchat
A4: thanks to my C/O staff (@FoxC6Super and @FoxC6Secondary) for molding me into a future administrator and sharing their experiences/expertise with me. #nvedchat
#NVedchat a2: Teachers thrive on positive reinforcement! From admin, parents, coworkers, community, and students! Nothing better than a little appreciation keeps you going for miles and miles! It wipes away the bad days!
A4-So many people to thank, but I have to start w/ my high school science teacher Mrs. "Momi" Tomi Foust.
What did she say?
"Don't go into education."
However, I saw her passionate for teaching and ultimately I did go into education to feel the same passion. #NVedchat

You guys in Cohort 1 really motivated me.. will all you have done.. I could not be prouder of you all and especially you! #nvedchat. We need to celebrate in Chicago! #iste2018
You all rock. You make me so much better as a teacher. I hope that one day i can reach the level of service you all give to your students daily. If you get a chance on Sunday, watch the Indianapolis 500. I’ll be in turn 1 like I am every year. #NVedchat
No not much gratitude from students. They are still growing & learning & really have no idea how much we do for them daily. I wish adults; parents, teachers & admin put more effort into showing appreciation #NVedchat
#NVedchat thankful folks are thankful towards educators ...those that aren’t don’t give thanks not because it’s education but because it’s not in their nature. Sad that so many are not thankful by nature or even practice thankfulness
Maybe if we sent a “thank you” email to a colleague every day it would make our school culture change in a positive way? I saw today a principal gives out birthday cards to every student in the school of 2200 and every adult that works in the building also. #NVedchat
