#personalizedPD chat. A fast-paced, fun chat to discuss personalized professional development for educators. We discuss what it is, why it's better than traditional PD, how to create personalized PD opportunities, how to scale it from individuals to districts, and how to inspire it from individuals to districts to want more and more of it. Hosted each week by Jason Bretzmann @jbretzmann and Kenny Bosch @KennyBosch and moderated each week by a guest moderator. 8pm Central each Tuesday.
Welcome! As we look ahead to summer 18, let’s take some time to look at all we’ve accomplished this year and what we hope to do this summer, #PersonalizedPD style!

A1: Being brave enough to have the confidence to start https://t.co/bHJeKQ6E8Z I've had the vision, but what I've learned this year has given me the push to do it! #personalizedpd
Joined in some many different twitter chats and got so many good ideas/suggestions and had my thinking challenged that I feel I have changed in many ways for the better. #personalizedpd

A1: I switched school districts. Relearning all the rules, customs, and most importantly culture of the school was really overwhelming. But I had some great help along the way @mmacmunn@AmyH0531@JessieLaine7#personalizedPD
A1: I hosted my school's first-ever student voice panel, helped a student believe in herself, and encouraged three young ladies to start doing community volunteer work at a non-profit. #personalizedPD
A1b. Tried several new in class formats based on student feedback. One being a weird flipped/project based/teacher designed/student choice scheme. #personalizedpd
A.1 Always #LEARNING and adding to my PLN through Twitter.
But most importasntly continuing to realize that Freshman or Seniors, Biology or Algebra, it comes down to....
#personalizedPD
A1: Wow! It’s been a big year for me, personally. I started my own blog (https://t.co/tf57CPbFNA), began a new career as a tech integration coach, and applied for the google innovator academy! #neverstoplearning#personalizedPD

A2 I sent a survey to the staff asking them to rate different PD ideas from least to most needed. The admin, instructional coach, and I will create and schedule PD based on their feedback. #personalizedPD
Already figured out what I am doing next: book list figured out, SBG for all classes, taking a few online methods programs. Just have to figure out the wording of my SLO. #personalizedPD

A2: I don't have to to prioritize #personalizedPD goals because that is what keeps me focus and motivated to improve. Plus, I get bored really easy with the same old. I just need to make sure that I see all of my ideas through.
A2: I’m hoping to continue to build my PLN and actually meet up with some of these awesome people I’ve “met” on twitter! Read more books, find more resources, create some for others! #personalizedPD
#personalizedpd A2. I tend to be very reflective and put my team to be on the review mode as well...the school as such follows a policy of taking feedback from teachers , students and reviewing the year and the policies .. it always helps
#personalizedpd A1my biggest win this was to identify my potential and to realise it's never too late in life to learn...I am so happy to have connected with myself
Blog looks great! Your Google slides convinced me to switch to them (or at least advertise it better) for my Ss' Stop Motion projects. @rkiker is a great resource for all things Googley. If he ever delivers PD near you, I highly recommend.

I have been intentional with my #PLN, presented at conferences I wouldn't have known about, and connected with so many new people who have helped me in my work. #personalizedPD
A3: My PLN has grown to include some amazing professionals. I admire all the dedication and passion these Ts have. It really eneregizes me for the classroom. #personalizedPD
A3: I was able to take information back to the teachers in my school and remind them that there is education outside of the walls of our building with GREAT things happening and endless new ideas....it gave a fresh perspective, for sure #personalizedpd
A3: I have appreciated the encouragement and seeing ppl who have move forward with their ideas. I have been talking about starting a blog for almost two years, but seeing others doing it gives me hope that I can push myself to get it done. #personalizedpd

No test? What did you use for assessments? This was my first year #DitchHW and doing grade conferences. Interested to learn how to ditch test too. #PersonalizedPD

#personalizedpd A4 looking for opportunities to grow professionally and develop my coaching and instructional skills further. I need to think clear this summer
It's time for the #Lurker shout out!
We love our lurkers at #personalizedPD

A4 I'm headed to #ISTE18 and it will be my first time to attend! I'm overwhelmed just looking at all the sessions, but hoping I can get organized and figure out what I want to learn! #personalizedPD
A.2 It looks like I may be teaching more Algebra next year. PD this summer will include looking for more ways to avoid text book algebra and more "how will I use this in real life" algebra.
Like @ddmeyer#personalizedPDhttps://t.co/6lLd0BA24R
A4: Summer is my time to travel and just chillax. That way I come back refreshed. I may try to sneak an edu book in that time (usually on the plane) #personalizedpd
A4: My project for the summer will be unpacking after moving to a different building. I also have a couple of EdCamps on the schedule and CPR re-certification.#PersonalizedPD
A4: So many ideas to explore but ... I've let "taking care of me" slip. I need to fix me/my health first. Hopefully saying (typing) it out loud will help. #PersonalizedPD
A4: For me, it is to take time to dig into more trauma informed practices, and social emotional learning resources as we look to take next steps in these areas. #personalizedPDhttps://t.co/XrPXWL0eOQ
A4 Along with some construction projects, I’m hoping to continue to explore my creative voice by working on my kids lit novel. Love exploring and creating. Helps me help my students explore their creative voice. #personalizedpd
Recharging for me means having creative projects, viewing the arts, making art and running. Plenty of Beach time with the family does the trick too. #personalizedpd

A5 Getting back into working out (coming off an injury), hanging out at the pool, and travelling are all on my list of how I'm going to recharge this summer! #personalizedPD
Q6: Looking ahead to school year 2018-2019, how do you see #PersonalizedPD helping to establish or meet goals for your classroom, building, or yourself professionally?
#personalizedpd A5. Recharging is only family time. ..will spend a lot of summer time with family .working online in bits , but mostly relaxing with family .
A6: For me, it allows for staff, and myself to take the next step beyond what the "regular" PD session offers. The power of next. #personalizedPDhttps://t.co/nHAqnxvNi1
Q6: Looking ahead to school year 2018-2019, how do you see #PersonalizedPD helping to establish or meet goals for your classroom, building, or yourself professionally?
A6: I'm moving to a new building. Change is always tough, especially when you're so happy where you are. I'm looking to #PersonalizedPD for support and understanding
#personalizedpd A6 just like now I have been able to think ahead clearly , am sure #Personalizedpd will urge me to work things out in a clear fashion and also provide a platform for so many fabulous interactions that one is constantly learning .
A6: Next year will be my last year teaching at this international school in Brazil, and I have so many different ideas of what I want to do after this. I'm be bouncing ideas of you folks and my PLN. #personalizedpd
A4 I don't think I will catch my breath until July, but excited to present and attend some conferences #ST4T@USMSpark#usmspark#iste18 and work on my blog and a book #personalizedpd
A6: Forcing my brain to shut down for just a couple of days and forcing myself to not think about anything school related. That is so hard!! But it helps me tremendously. It is like hitting restart on my brain. #personalizedPD
Q7: Time for advice for the novice (now that we have some time)… How do you recommend getting started with #PersonalizedPD if it is not a priority in your school or district?

A7: Start small and with those who are open to trying someting new, and at times outside of comfort zones. Model it when possible. #personalizedPDhttps://t.co/nYCaKDG58B
Q7: Time for advice for the novice (now that we have some time)… How do you recommend getting started with #PersonalizedPD if it is not a priority in your school or district?
A7: Dedicate some of your own time and get on twitter to find a chat that will help you grow as an educator. Here is a guide on which chat to choose:

A7 Realize it's okay to dip your toes in first instead of diving head first. Sometimes it takes baby steps to make a difference in the long run! #personalizedPD

A7 think about areas that interest you, start with a twitter chat, look for a Voxer group, check out webinars available through the different communities, read a book, check out #bookcamppd , listen to podcasts, #personalizedpd
A7: Never limit your learning... #personalizedPD doesn’t fit in a mold...it’s abt finding what you need and growing...find a way to reflect and an accountability partner you can turn to
Q8: For those who have experienced #PersonalizedPD gaining traction in your school or district, what do you see as a tangible next step in growing the practice?
A8: Model, Model, Model. Look for ways to incorporate #personalizedPD into part of ongoing PD structures within your building or district. Once people see the value.... https://t.co/Ld0kIBN1PJ

A9: Ok. This is a bit strange. But Crocs (shoes) are really big for some of my students. I am going to break down and buy a pair this summer and see what all the fuss is about. #personalizedPD
