A1) as a person who loves to try new things and challenges, I have stretched myself outside my comfort zone many times. My boundaries - as long as it’s challenging, fun. I need to enjoy doing it. But I do get great insights by trying, being beginner many times #whatisschool

I never thought about traditional school setting as being a comfort zone, but it does limit us for sure. I find myself constantly fighting against the system to help my Ss. #whatisschool
I think that growing up with Dyslexia broadened my comfort zone tremendously- I had to adapt to those ‘educational practices’ that did not meet my needs. It was a time before modifications were in place for many of us #whatisschool
A2: when I am in my comfort zone I start to feel a little guilty. I think if I am not trying to innovate my practice I am getting lazy... #whatisschool

#whatisschool A growth mindset keeps me there. I have an unwavering need and drive to learn and grow. I have fear of course, I have to reflect & meditate to build my confidence but I generally jump in and try new things.
A2- Staying stagnant to feel "safe" is poor teaching practice. Trying to always do better & be better for the Ss & Ts is a must. #whatisschool You HAVE to get out of the safe zone!
It's hard. But once you do it, they'll figure out structure. Sometimes one needs to tweak a little and provide guidance but you'll likely find out more will get done #whatisschool

This totally resonates with me. Teaching first grade can test my comfort zone at times. #whatisschool I know it's important to change my perspective when I feel my patience slipping.
A2: Mine is known, predictable, comfy. Things that keep me there are: Fear (failure, embarrassment), lack of control, unknown outcomes, lack of skill set to move foward. #whatisschool
A2 #whatisschool A zone to me is not fixed. It expands and shifts based on interest, purpose and curiosity. I feel my zone build with excitement and like a sponge it absorbs and entangles new strategies and ideas frequently
Conference speaking and outreach is probably where I am pushing my boundaries right now. It's not something I am overly comfortable with, so jump in and see what goes wrong. :) #whatisschool

A3: Growth and learning are outside of my comfort zone, so it is a great place to be! Unfortunately, fear and risk are also outside of that zone, and those things can prevent me from moving outside of my comfort zone. #whatisschool

A3) Honestly less than 2 yrs ago we were required to go on twitter for PD. I was scared to death but the chance I took to learn this made me realize I could try anything! I failed many time on twitter but keep going! The support of this #AwesomePLN kept me going! #whatisschool

A4. This summer I went to math training. It was the first I heard of jo boaler and the amazing work she is doing. It has flipped my math class upside down. #whatisschool

A4 Trying to get two conference presentations done in a few days with multiple presenters was challenging but rewarding. Perseverance and stamina were my guides. #whatisschool

We always put ourselves out there & try to encourage others to do the same. We preach give it a try, don't be afraid, & do it anyway! Then stand behind them cheering them on while we continue pushing ourselves. #whatisschool
