I like so many different resources, but the most inspirational thing for me is people! My professors @UAF and recently, some of the speakers from #ASTE18. #akedchat
Q2: Twitter's education community is my new favorite place for resources and ideas, but Common Sense will always be my favorite. #AkEdChat@CommonSenseEd
A3 It is a must have for me right now! I get access to SO much information! Plus, I look forward to connecting with my colleagues via #AKEdChat on Monday nights!
I think about what my presence "looks" like. This is a professional forum and I need to make sure everything put "out there" is professional. #AkEdChat
I think it is too powerful to be ignored when used between adults. I still can't see using open social media platforms with students.....but there are closed versions that work well.

#akedchat A3: While I favor opportunities to learn with others in small groups, there is nothing better for professional learning and making connections than social media (especially Twitter!).
A3 I have limited time to be social and would rather do that F2F so I pretty much only use social media for professional purposes. I find Twitter useful to learn from other educators #akedchat
#akedchat I completely agree @SyrahPetersen ! Especially because I don't work in a setting with co-workers in physical range, not even in the same town, so much of my work is online and by phone, I LOVE #akedchat and my online connections!

Q3: I like Twitter for the sea of knowledge it provides and Instagram for visual images and digital stories. I am not as active as I probably should be...I am also pretty private, I observe more. #AKEdChat
So, on this question in particular, it seems that old fashioned message boards don't show up that often. But I still use them a lot in other venues....boat issues, motorcycles, photography, RV's.....
Are there any people use for education?

A4 the little voice on my shoulder says "avoid posting about politics and don't share cat videos" In the end, I want my collection of posts to reflect what matters most in my mission of making a difference for youth and our future #akedchat
Social Media is extremely powerful both positive and negative & must be used w/ intentional very specific care & forethought when used w/ Ss. Ts need to have specific & well-thought-out outcomes in mind to use open social media w/ Ss. Use closed if it works just aswell. #akedchat
Syrah, an elementary teacher got a harsh reminder of that for talking about a student from almost 3 decades ago this week....re: Stephen Miller

A4: to slow down and proof read your posts! I like Twitter because it is a quick and easy way to get a burst of PD- but sometimes I regret how quickly I typed 😀#akedchat
Share in a way that benefits your community...humor, camaraderie, resources or celebration. Twitter changed my outlook on teaching when I found the tribe there! #akedchat#twitterpd
I set up my Twitter acct for professional use only. I'd have too many worries if I were using 1 handle for personal & professional interactions. #akedchat
Q4: When posting photos that include your peers, ask them for permission before posting :). Not everyone is keen of you defining their digital footprint for them. #AKEdChat
#akedchat A5: I use social media (mostly twitter) professionally. Occasionally, I'll comment on a blog of personal interest. I think that my behavior on and off screen reflects my values. I'm always aware that I'm in public, but it's not much different than my private life :)
Actually, since I am replying on this account, it does reflect core values of the district and dept. On my personal twitter profile, @lwrightelson, it’s more interests. With this profile it’s district initiatives, goals, learning, etc. #AKEdChat
A5: I really value being solution orientated, positive, celebrating the good, and being a life long learner... so yes I believe my presence reflects this. #akedchat
A6: A following! :) That's exactly what some of our students are doing. Using social media to promote great ideas and movements, and simply a safe learning community. #AkEdChat
My current gig is "Policy" The question for me is, does the district provide fertile grounds for growth or unnecessary barriers.
How do we facilitate while keeping kids safe.

I would like to build connections with more educators around the state. There are some amazing people doing amazing things out there & the more we share, the more all our students benefit! #akedchat
How to do meaningful integration of biotech on the cheap, ways to use tech w/students who may have ltd home access, how to get the tech piece to be more student driven...so many topics! #akedchat
