The Breakfast Club – #BFC530 – is a 15 minute, 1 question Twitter chat every weekday. We chat in 4 timezones Mon-Fri – 5:30am Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific Times. The mission of BFC is to empower participants to make a difference in education by engaging in consistent reflective practice in a supportive community that inspires and challenges one another.
This week has been emotionally exhausting BUT I’m ready to take on this Friday and work with Ss. Every minute counts and we don’t have much time left. #BFC530
Depends on whether there is a night event. Between 6-6.5. Alarm goes off at 4:30 so I can go for a walk (my achy knees prevent a run) & have coffee ready for #BFC530!
I usually fall asleep around 9:30; alarm is set for 5..but I rarely sleep all those hours. I either get up early (like 4) or am up at some point in the night #thestruggleisreal#bfc530
9pm I try to be in bed, doing some guided meditations for about 30 min. 5am is wake up, as long as certain small animals or humans don’t decide that 4am is a better time! #bfc530
Happy Friday of Memorial Day Weekend! Susan from the Jersey Shore reminding you to #remember all who fought for us! I head to bed at 8:30 to read, and usually my eyelids win out around 9:30. Up at 5am to visit with you fine folks. #bfc530
Bedtime is around 9:30ish and the alarm goes off at 4:38. This gets me showered, dressed, and breakfast by #bfc530 time. Try to walk out the door at 5:50 to arrive at the Ghost Town before 6:00.
Not enough is what I keep hearing. Generally, I fall asleep while putting my youngest to bed and wake up around 2 or 3. This is why I can pop into this chat. It’s 4:30 my time! #bfc530
I work hard to keep it consistent on weekdays as well as weekends. Sleep hygiene is so important. Even a shift of an hour can be detrimental to my sleep cycle. #bfc530
Good morning #bfc530- I'm usually in bed by 8-8:30 and up by 4:30. No alarm- and summer is usually the same schedule no matter how hard I try to sleep in.
Good morning, all. #bfc530 Abner from the DC area. Up at 4:50 each morning. Get about 7-8 hours per night - unless it is a hockey playing night, when it can be just four or five. Yes, that makes the next day very hard.
I “TRY” to be in bed by 9:00 because I wake up 4:30 each morning to get on my treadmill before I go to school. Usually, I get anywhere between 5-8 hours. #BFC530
5-6 hours of sleep. Alarm is set for 5:00AM, but it’s a backup. Usually awake before it goes off. Wouldn’t give up my quiet morning coffee time with @MrStevenHall for the world! Even on weekends or when our schedules are different. This is our time to connect each day. #bfc530
Good morning #bfc530. Tracy from MA excited for the weekend! A friend's husband just returned last night from a yr tour in Saudi, so we will DEFINITELY be celebrating our servicemen & women this weekend. #bfc530
Typically five to six hours per night. Alarm is set at 5 am each day. Got to have coffee time with my beautiful wife @bhall_acs and we can’t miss the breakfast club! #bfc530
Something about waking to do school work in the quiet of the early morning. Also neve have to worry about saying "no" to my daughters asking to play with them #bfc530
Hello #bfc530 friends! It's been awhile. I have not been around this chat much this year because I've been making myself sleep past 430a CT. Like they say, getting more sleep adds longevity. I continue to be inspired by your posts though!
A good night I’ll get 7 hours but it’s usually closer to 6. I try to go to sleep about 11:30 and the alarm goes off at 6:15. Thankful for coffee! #BFC530@wheeler_laura@BFC530
I try to be asleep by ten, sometimes it happens, sometimes not. My alarm is set for 5 but as you guys noticed I'm often awake several hours before that contemplating life or who knows what #bfc530
As far as sleep, I average around 7 hours a night on school days. On the weekend I get a little more, plus I try to take at least one nap. Naps are important. Seriously! #bfc530
Good morning #bfc530! Josh from NJ. My bed time is supposed to be 10pm. However, I am unable to find time to sleep before 12am. I wake up between 4am-4:30am each morning to study the Bible and pray. I wake up without an alarm.
Me too. I also appreciate it at school- I'm much more productive in the mornings. After school my brain is jelly and there is no hope of any work getting done. #bfc530
Hey Brian! You are definitely a soldier. I remember those days. Regardless of how late the night was and tired you may feel. You’re up early the next day. #BFC530
Good morning! I get 7 hours a sleep each night. Bedtime around 9/930 and alarm is set for 434 so I can make it to a 530 workout class (and chat with all of you beforehand)! #bfc530
Switched schools this year- At prev school I had one of the few master keys and so could access anytime. New school no Ts have a master & result is actually a pro for me- used to work weekends; when it's not a possibility, turns out I really don't need to #bfc530
Wow. Tight timelines. The Pollyanna in me wonders if it started as a way to try to enforce work-life balance (not taking into consideration that balance may have different hours for different staff members)? #BFC530

FYI #bfc530 peeps: My org is having a webinar on Jun 5 at 2:00 pm ET, if you are free and interested. We're doing it with @ncldorg and it's on students w/ disabilities, personalized learning, and student agency. More info here: https://t.co/ky7uAcLhwr Thanks!
As a principal for many years, my sleep was dependent on how many things I had on my mind. Would wake earlier & head to the building. I have left my house and 3am to work and I live an hour away. I used to get so much done. If I wasn’t in the bldg by 6:30am staff worried. #bfc530
I aim for 7.5 hours of sleep on school nights with lights out at 10 and alarm at 5:30. Still getting sufficient sleep is one of my #EOYPositives. #bfc530
Carl! It's like the band is back together again! I do catch and like your alpaca pictures once in awhile. It looks like the farm is doing well. #BFC530
I don’t believe that we have a limit, as long as we card in and out after hours. On summer break and other vacations they change the access rules and there are some times when we are not allowed in the building at all for maintenance reasons. #bfc530
Sometimes it happens before the end of the day! Getting up so early, I feel like I peak at noon sometimes...and then it's all downhill from there! #bfc530
Whoops! Last day of school and I’m tardy to the chat! Mostly because a parent (fellow Brit) sent me a link to watch British TV on my phone. Perfect timing as summer begins 🙄😂 #bfc530
I don’t think it has anything to do with work/life balance lol. Once we are there, we can stay, we just can’t come back. #bfc530 Teachers rarely leave before 4.

I love sitting outside my class and eating my breakfast as the kids filter in. They're always full of stories- and I've already had loads of time to prep so I can just relax and welcome them. #bfc530

There will always be more work to do in this profession. Having a small human vyying for my time made me realize how much more efficient I could be with my at school time to allow me to be fully present with her on the weekends. #bfc530#WorkLifeBalance

Nice to be here! I am usually up but making lunches, breakfast, and prepping for the day. I did that all last night so I could just relax this morning with my morning coffee. #BFC530
Nope, I live in a tourist town by the Beach. Memorial Day is a busy weekend to make money. Even when I haven’t started my restaurant job until school’s out, I always worked this weekend. #BFC530
Bedtime around 10:30
Alarm set for 5:00
Total about 6.5 hours unless I'm binge grading, then bedtime changes to about 12:00/12:30 for about 5 hours
#bfc530
Amount of sleep depends on my stress level. In bed between 9-10, alarm set for 5:30. Up around 4:15 this morning due to stress. I work to check out #bfc530 however in mountain time zone, so always late.
Morning, #bfc530. My sleep number is typically 6-7 hours. If bedtime clock starts w/a 10, I'm in decent shape. Earlier=bonus; later =trouble. A.M. alarm sounds at 5:11 when much slower motion version of this ensues:
