Hello! I am Rebecca! I am from Michigan and I am studying to be an English teacher. I am participating today to learn more about how to use technology and social media in the classroom! Thank you! #nT2t
Hola! Dámaris Ramírez from Long Island, NY. I'm a fourth grade Dual Language (Spanish) teacher in Mineola. My favorite feedback to give: I noticed how much you struggled with that concept, and yet you didn't give up and tried your best. #NT2t
Personalized learning is tailoring learning for each student’s strengths, needs, and interests— including enabling student voice and choice in what, how, when, and where they learn. #nt2t
Personalized learning environments are student centered and the teacher’s role is no longer the “keeper of knowledge” Ss have an integral part in their learning. #NT2t
I'm Braelyn, I am on track to become a first or second grade teacher. I'm from Michigan. I can't wait to see all of the interaction between teachers this morning!

A1: Personalized Learning is not what we do to a learner. It is about empowering learners to identify and gain the skills to support their own learning so that Agency and Self-advocacy can be realized. #nt2t#makelearningpersonal
A1: Personalized learning means that students have some input in what we learn, how we learn it, and how they show what they have learned. This is not always the same for every student! #nt2t
#Nt2T A1 personalized learning is incorporating different learning strategies in order to meet all the different strengths of students in the classroom.
A1: Personalized learning is students learning the same information is different formats according to their needs a strengths. This student-centered way kids learn to the best of their ability with the knowledge and resources provided by the teacher #nt2t

Personalized learning is when instruction is catered and tailored to your learning style. It can be done by differentiating lessons for each individual student.
I think personalized learning looks different with primary students than middle/high school, need to give them tools to help empower them first before they can take responsibility for their own learning, teacher still an integral and essential part of the learning process #nt2t
There is a very practical process that I developed in Ch 4 of "How to Personalze Learning" that can be used for learners to understand their strengths and challenges in their learning. #nt2t#makelearningpersonal
A2: Giving students a say on what they want to ultimately learning about is crucial. Also, allow students to make up their own learning goals so they have something specific and concrete to focus on while in class! #nt2t
A2: Teachers can help students take ownership of their learning by encouraging them and providing choices for how they want to learn the clear objectives at hand. Also providing meaningful and useful feedback is helpful #nt2t
A2: students can take ownership of their learning by discussing their ideas with their peers and testing out different methods and strategies until they've reached success (both with and without help from the teacher) #nt2t

#Nt2T A2 students taking ownership is one of the most important parts of the process, so, they should set their own goals and make plans in order to meet those goals.
A2: As T we have to allow students to take ownership, I think sometimes especially with little ones T have a hard time sitting back and letting them do/create/be at times...they are capable of way more than given credit for #nt2t
Agreed. We have Ss setting both academic (subject focused) and personal (can be anything) goals. They select independently and confer with teachers along the way #nt2t
A)2 Give students choices in their learning. For example a project can be completed in a variety of ways, powerpoint, essay, pairs, web design. Incorporating technology! #nt2t
A3: twitter is a great and engaging way to have students collaborate in a comfortable environment where they can take share more than they might face to face #nt2t
I'm suddenly reminded of dioramas. Every one of us had to create a scene specifically in a shoe box. That could've been a creative OPTION if our teachers hadn't had such a specific requirement. #nt2t

A3: We can share important links n # , there after monitoring n tracking how r the Ss using them. Also, intervening whenever it needs to be. Once they get aware of how to use #SocialMedia for learning, they'll surely be benefitted. #nt2t
A3: Using it as a resource to promote conversations. It lowers the risk factor for Ss that are concerend with language or sharing, also supports community building. #nt2t
A3: Since students are already utilizing social media so much, it is a great way for them to reach out to fellow students from all over the world. It would be great for students to see what is being accomplished in other states and countries. #nt2t
It's a humongous shift in thinking. It can't be completed for everything. I support my T's by telling them to look at what would work...start small to developing an understanding. #nt2t
A3: I do not have my primary students on Twitter, but use it as a way to communicate with parents/colleagues, Skype and virtual visits to other classrooms in the world provide us with a unique opportunities to connect and learn from others #nt2t
A4: The choices we give students need to be well thought out ahead of time to make sure that no matter which way a student decides to go with a project, they are using valuable information and skills. #nt2t
A3: Twitter is an interactive way for students to broadcast their learning and provide meaningful feedback to others as well. Pictures, words, & videos are all to be shared #nt2t
It definitely is a huge shift from the traditional teacher role now. I think schools can support teachers through the shift by working with teachers to set their own personal goals as the facilitator of a classroom #nt2t
A4: As educators, we need to make sure the choices are relevant to their wants and needs. You do not want to force anything with students, they need to have a say in their education so they can be ready for what the future ultimately holds! #nt2t
A4: We need to provide some guidelines and we can do this by using rubrics, having students understand the process and the purpose. This supports goal setting and the outcome of the task #nt2t
Ours was just as I describe: build some sort of scene inside a shoe box, for example with tiny figures and a background, to illustrate a story or lesson. #nt2t
I agree, but way more professional development needs to be provided for teachers, they should not be left to just figure it out on their own, districts need to be doing more to bring teachers AND students into the digital world #nt2t

A4: Through trial and error at times seems to work best to find what is most effective. Also when creating choices, keeping your students' learning styles and goals in mind #nt2t

A5: I have had students use social media. It can be tedious to check it constantly to make sure they are progressing, but I think it's worth it in the end to meet students on their own playing field so to speak. #nt2t
A5: I do not currently use social media in my classes. Even though students utilize it on a daily basis, there needs to be better ways to keep tabs on them, especially when using it within an education setting. #nt2t
A5: I thought of using social media in class but most are blocked in schools. I use flip grid as a means to connect all of my students (middle school) into one platform so they may interact with each other. #nt2t
Change is always difficult if only "pockets" of people are attempting the shift. Admin must have buy in to the change. It's difficult for S's to shift thinking if only 1 or 2 in the building are doing this. #nt2t

And when it comes to learning to navigate the digital world, I see everyone as teachers and learners -- students and educators learning together, along with the community. #nt2t

A5: Checking social media apps, looking up pictures, can be distractions in class. I allow students to have five minutes at the end of class to try new apps, show me something "interesting" which keeps them on task to earn the reward at the end #nt2t

I personally do not feel this is a funding concern. I see it as a shift in practice which doesn't cost money. You do not need technology to personalize. Tech helps but not always needed. #nt2t

A5) One solution (or approach): The whole point is the "social." This should be a collaborative learning environment, as this chat is right now. Bring in other people to enter your online learning space. #nt2t
A6: Each individual student will know if they are ready to move on, or need some additional assistance. They need to be held accountable for this, as they will only be hurting themselves moving forward if they are not completely ready! #nt2t
A) If a teacher creates an instagram or twitter account keeping track of post and actively participating is a form of assessment. A challenge can be to keep content /post positive and appropriate #nt2t
As the one voted "quietest" in my high school class, long before the days of today's technology, I love the potential for social media and other online spaces to give the quietest students a voice. #nt2t
A) 6 students get bored really quick they will verbally express their opinions. Setting realistic time lines and keeping with curriculum is important. #nt2t

That's why it's also a lesson in digital citizenship. One reason I love the idea of online spaces for learning: Students also have to learn to navigate those spaces, not just whatever learning brings them there. #DigCit#nt2t
