This is the official Twitter account for #OklaEd, thehashtag that brings OK educators together. #OklaEd is not political & promotes constructive dialogue.
Tyler Bridges, @k20center Associate Director and #oklaed advocate.
We are a non-traditional main dish family and I long for my motherโs thanksgiving sugared ham!
This may not account for students who are stressed from home environments. Did they consider this or only study stress from teacher to student and student to teacher? We teachers constantly try to tamp down the stress. #oklaed
A1 I am thankful for my wife (@TheMrsGragg) and children. Also thankful for the opportunity to teach some amazing students in a great district. Thankful for good books, coffee & bacon too! #oklaed
A1: First and foremost I am always so thankful for my incredible family. Secondly, for being blessed with so many wonderful opportunities to help make #oklaed the best it can be.
Itโs a worthwhile venture.
A1: So cliche, but I'm thankful for the Twitters. I'm a late-comer to this PLN, but it's changed my perspective in my classroom, my school, and education in general. #oklaed
A1: My daughter and husband top my list of things to be thankful for - but school-wise it is my Nationa Board jouney - I am learning SOOOO much! #oklaed
A1: I'm thankful for awareness of differences, for the chance to make a difference with my foster babies, the opportunity to make a difference w/ my students. I'm just thankful for my many opportunities I've been given. If I don't screw It up I have a real chance here. #oklaed
David Burton, Social Studies & Business Ed Coordinator for @MoorePublicSch, currently in San Francisco for #NCSS17, favorite Thanksgiving dish last year was a shrimp & grits dressing. #oklaed

A1: Thankful for so much. Right now, I'm thankful for all the different foods listed i'm looking up for thanksgiving meal. I can move beyond #kimchi this year... #oklaed
A1: Always thankful for my family but more importantly love. The love theyโve shown me that has enabled me to love and serve others in ways that is an extension of them. #oklaed
A:1 Education wise, I am thankful for brilliant resourceful administrators who continue to pursue innovation in the middle of this funding fiasco. #oklaed
The text doesn't go into full detail of all aspects of the study. I interpreted it as a support for teachers to actively practice self-care as this is something usually within their control. #Oklaed
A2: This year has been rough, but I try to use whatever resources and networking I personally have available to consistently benefit the students at my school. Most people want to help, so I let them. #oklaed
A2 Wow! Ummmm...I've helped keep an eye on the ongoing construction for our new entrance, looking out for when it is and isn't safe for Ss to pass through certain areas. #oklaed
A2: I would like to think that Iโve provided leadership that has allowed those around me to take risks for kids and feel supported enough to be innovative.
I want others to feel valued & I hope I have accomplished that goal this year. #oklaed
A1 Thankful to live in a community that supports the arts in a way that allows my entire family to participate in my daughters love of the stage-Just wrapped up Little Women #oklaed
A2: I've been a mentor teacher for a new teacher to our district, and I've introduced a lot of new ideas. Okay, so now I realize some people might be tired of my new ideas, but I'll still call them blessings! ;-) #oklaed
A2: Man. It's a lot easier to talk about blessings received... I share ideas I get via Twitter w/ dept and admin who are not social media lovers. Wealth of knowledge! #oklaed
A2) I still can't seem to say NO! Lol Spanish 1, 2, AP, Yearbook, Newspaper, Broadcasting and I still show up every morning and stay late every day. #oklaed#kidsareworthit
A2: Iโve done a lot of encouraging to our SS teachers and worked closely with some of our new Ts to support their energy and confidence. For OCSS, I organized a great Fall Confernece. #oklaed
A2: by bringing my experience to a new district. By not needing much assistance. By being able to manage my babies & not needing help. New to district, not teaching. #oklaed
A1b: More recently, I am thankful @GovMaryFallin followed through on her veto threat. HB1019X was a monumental failure of legislative leadership. #TryAgainOKLeg#oklaed
A2 well....Iโm still here and not in another state? Iโm not sure that what I do qualifies as blessing....I have lots of growing to do as an educator. #OklaEd
A:1 Education wise, I am thankful for brilliant resourceful administrators who continue to pursue innovation in the middle of this funding fiasco. #oklaed
A2 - I strive daily to meet my students head on and take risks in the classroom because it is about them and their mastery of the skills rather than my preferences in teaching #oklaed
#OklaEd A2: No district - so Iโll hope that the people on this chat feel that my responses to a few of the questions on the chat might be a little like a blessing to their ongoing learning / facilitating.
A2: Wow! I know Iโm giving my best every day and I love my kids. Iโve also taken on some extra work as a Tech Coach and I hope itโs helpful! I โค๏ธ #altusps#oklaed
A2: by bringing my experience to a new district. By not needing much assistance. By being able to manage my babies & not needing help. New to district, not teaching. #oklaed

A2: By believing that our students at Kerr can achieve great things, and keeping that belief day after day. And being intentional about fostering a true team atmosphere among our staff.#OklaEd
Really...you don't know? 70+ #okleg members voted for a pro ed budget. I know we needed a few more yes votes, but without your work the past few years we might not have half that many.... #oklaed
A2 Have worked to make sure stuff works and when it doesn't try to get it taken care of quickly, but with 2 and sometimes 3 devices per person we miss a few. #oklaed
A3 being able to give back to the people of my home. Hoping that they see education as a step towards betterment of themselves and their community #oklaed
A3: The kids. Always the kids. I have some former students-now successful adults coming over this week, & being able to say "I knew you when" is one of the most rewarding parts of my life. #oklaed

A2: I would like to think that I have been a resource to my district teachers- professional development, OER creations, PLCs, etc- helping them to grow helps me to grow. #oklaed
A3 lightbulb moments are the best....when a kid makes a connection, I geek out. Plus i really do get to work with the best people, which makes a challenging job a bit easier. #OklaEd
Really...you don't know? 70+ #okleg members voted for a pro ed budget. I know we needed a few more yes votes, but without your work the past few years we might not have half that many.... #oklaed
A3: the moments I have been away at training & I return to flowers from a S. Hearing thank you for how I explained something so a S understood. Hearing a parent say my kid loves u & it's not your student. #oklaed
A3: The people, the kids, the communities, those that do everything within them to achieve their goals for kids. I canโt imagine working in another profession. #oklaed
A3 I think I was born to be a teacher. Even as a child, when I learned something; I came home and taught it to my sisters. I have been able to fulfill my destiny and can't see myself ever doing anything else. #OklaEd
A3: Watching many Ss flourish and move beyond their own expectations. Best moment: Being deployed and running into Ss, who struggled in school, but here they are protecting me as a security police airmen! #oklaed
A3: I'm thankful for having a job that could mean the difference between my Ss getting jobs or finding careers they love - reading and writing, argument and rhetoric - they learn to thrive, even when they hate it... #oklaed
A3 #oklaed Spending time with students and other adults who are passionate about shaping their lives - I know it sounds trite, but there really is nothing better.
A3: Again, the opportunity to make a positive impact in the life of a child is priceless. How many of your friends outside of education can say that? #oklaed
A3: Every time I see a former player or student I had years ago and they are proud of their family and career. Knowing that you were part of their life and seeing them successful. Especially the ones who could have gone the wrong way. #OklaEd
A3 The opportunity to work with some amazing young people on a daily basis, even if it makes me cry when they move away, become a senior, graduate, etc. #oklaed
A3: I get to be among kids and Love them everyday! I get to see their smiles and watch them grow and develop. I have the best job in the world! #oklaed
#OklaEd A3: Pure and simple, making a difference for other learners and being able to share outcomes of my Considering books and blog posts - in order that my and othersโ understanding and capabilities improve TOGETHER.
A3: Every time I see a former player or student I had years ago and they are proud of their family and career. Knowing that you were part of their life and seeing them successful. Especially the ones who could have gone the wrong way. #OklaEd
A3: Iโm thankful that I get to see how smart high schoolers are everyday.
Iโm also hopeful that spending time around HS students will make me better able to โgetโ my own kids when they hit the teen years. #wishfulthinking#oklaed
A3) Iโm thankful for the opportunities Iโve been given. I wouldโve never dreamed Iโd be working with NASA, gone weightless, or traveled to Alaska with a FFT grant!!! #oklaed#cpsreds
Thank you!! I really canโt tell you how much that means to me. I know thatโs a common thing people say but I often wonder if I am even adding value and kind words like that are what keeps me going and passionate. #oklaed
A4: where to start? Thank you all of #oklaed I mean it's been years we have spent together. On twitter and off at events. You all have contributed to my growth as an educator. Thank you! #oklaed

A4: While I can't say I have necessarily grown as an educator this year, I do appreciate my #oklaed friends for sharing their positive attitude, strong voice and willingness to fight for kids. It keeps me focused!
A3) Iโm most thankful to be an educator because everyday I๏ธ get to interacting with great thinkers and doers. My Sโs are change makers and Iโm forever grateful to be a part of their lives. #oklaed

A4) @DrTerriC , thank you for your continued mentorship and commitment to my effectiveness as an educator. You continually bless me by encouraging me and providing me with impeccable resources to make me more effective in the classroom. #oklaed
A5 - The time they take to get to know me as a person and not just an employee. Makes me feel valued. Also giving me latitude to take pedagogical risks. #oklaed
A5: I got called out at my very first faculty meeting at my new school, for my students writing thank you letters to their past teachers. They were in awe of it and they thanked me. #oklaed
#OklaEd A5: My University never did; neither did the school or department ... Only a few colleagues and a lot of students did - fortunately the ones that matter!!!
A5: I always felt valued at #cpsreds as a professional and a leader. @k20center has embraced me with open arms and has valued my voice from day one, and the atmosphere is awesome to work in. #oklaed
A5: To be honest, this is something my district could greatly improve on. My coworkers, friends, family, and occasionally my students make me feel appreciated - but not necessarily higher admin from my district #oklaed
A5: My first year teaching, we got a Christmas bonus. This year, my evaluator told me he has no doubts about how well things are going in my class. :-) I felt valued! #oklaed
A5: I got married in July of โ16. @middelsupt came into my room the first week of school in August and said, โCongratulations!โ Thatโs my super! #oklaed

A5: @DavidReidJr left personal notes after every observation. Every T felt appreciated. Opened doors for collaboration, creativity, and professional growth. Thankful. #oklaed
Only so-so. Even the most innocuous prompt gets angry replies: "Nothing good has EVER happened," "I've never lost any freedom," etc. But we're still at it... #oklaed
In reply to
@watersenglish, @ClaudiaSwisher, @Adopt_classroom, @WaterEnglish, @mrjoshflores
It was a beginning of the year activity. Bc they should thank them for what they learned. Plus it's a reflection on what they learned and retained. Tricky teacher assessment. :) #oklaed
A5: Our superintendent @grendelrick is very interested in not only principals and teachers ideas and views, but our students as well! Hard not to feel valued in a district like ours! #oklaed
A5) I feel most appreciated when someone comes to my defense in the okpe4pe group. When someone is willing to stick their neck out for you in a public forum, you know they must appreciate what you are trying to do. #oklaed
A6: All of my classes brought food on the last day - which was also the last day of watching The Crucible movie to compare it to the play we did. Even those who could not contribute got to participate #oklaed
A6: Ask then about their thanksgiving traditions. Tell them about your own traditions. Offer advice if they ask for it directly or indirectly. Talk to them! #oklaed
A5 11/16/17 #cpsreds gave stipends to Ts and staff! Definitely felt the love, but when my P does an impromptu walk through and leaves a positive note, I feel appreciated then as well. #oklaed
A6: Ask them about their thanksgiving traditions. Tell them about your own traditions. Offer advice if they ask for it directly or indirectly. Talk to them! #oklaed
A6 #oklaed As one principal told me in the last month, we need to let our kids know two things:
1. You are loved.
2. I expect great things of you.
We can do this, no matter their home life or past choices.
#MDPurpose
A6: I've been using private comments in #GoogleClassroom to tell kids how awesome they are--takes the awkwardness away from coming up with a response for my shy kiddos. #oklaed
A6: For those who were told to not smile until after Thanksgiving, trick them by smiling a few days early! Seriously, just treat all children the way you want your kids treated by their teachers. #oklaed
A5b: My students wrote Ts poems in the style of Phillis Wheatley's "To His Excellency, General Washington," which helped the recipients feel appreciated! #oklaed
A5: there was an employment opportunity that would have needed me to take a year or two leave of absence and my superintendent told me there would always be a place for me in @MoorePublicSch#oklaed
A6 I hope I have been successful at making this a consistent thing in my class since day 1. I want my students to know they are appreciated daily, and I do this by smiling, greeting, using their name, and showing care and concern. #oklaed
#oklaed A6: Celebrate what they have accomplished and Don't Stop Believing in them, in what they can do, and in the difference they can make. Every S has a talent; something that they are good at doing.
A6: Thank them as specifically and genuinely as you can. Those connections are everything. We are doing food day after break. Theyโve been so supportive of my whole30 so we couldnโt have a food day before break. #oklaed
A5: My district @coach57@beauchamp_adam makes me feel appreciated by notes, emails, and even Twitter and just recently โa bitโ of a stipend!!!!! โค๏ธ #oklaed
A4c @bakerleft and @MrsBeck25 definitely contribute to my growth, although I haven't met Mr. Baker in person yet๐๐. Miss you, @MrsBeck25! #oklaed
A7: I actually need to thank my principal for giving me a job. I need to thank my team for taking me under their wing. I need to thank the janitor for cleaning my room. I need to thank the secretaries for all they do. #oklaed
A7: The people at Kerr, I've got 2 assistant principals who love kids and work hard, and an awesome group of teachers and secretaries who truly make the place run day to day! #oklaed
A7: Inspired by some of #oklaed 's personal notes to students, I will write to our Ts in my building. We have great people doing great things every day. @CNPSchools
A7:Thank you for the challenge #oklaed. I am so blessed to have so many wonderful #cpsreds Admin, Ts, and Staff in my PLN. And of course the amazing Ss. I accept the challenge!!! ๐
A7: Sheโs doesnโt โdo twitterโ but I want to thank Sharon Dean from the @k20center for being a passionate advocate and mentor for those around her. #MamaDean is one of a kind. #oklaed
If you don't know your janitor's name or secretaries or cafe staff or TA's or Paras names.. learn them!! Thank them!! #oklaed tell them you're thankful for them!
A5: Seeing projects from bond issue coming to fruition during 2017! Appreciate the support from admin, staff, students & patrons! Kids will benefit from better facilities!
#oklaed
A8: When I was 14 & we couldn't get to gparents in Kansas like we always did, my dad took my brother and me to Salvation Army to serve Thanksgiving dinner. Best Thanksgiving ever. #oklaed
A8 - Thanksgiving 2009. First holiday with my then gf @TheMrsGragg's family. On Thanksgiving night before going to bed I asked her mother for her blessing on proposing. (Which happened the following Monday). #oklaed
A8 sitting in front of the fireplace with my cousins after playing outside on a crisp Thanksgiving afternoon.... (and definitely NOT the year my inlaws visited us in TN and my oven went out!) #OklaEd
A1: I have so much to be thankful for...Parents who encourage me and push me to do the best I can in my studies. Friends who make life fun and never fail to make me smile. #OklaEd#Thankful
A8: Simply being with family when I was young. Many are no longer around, but this time of year always makes me think of those who are gone. Also Thanksgiving football practice at Ada High School, got to do that twice as a player. #oklaed
