A5 I found the key was "flexible"- it meant instruction/learning activities varied and Ss knew choices needed to be appropriate. And things were not "fair." Class contracts Ss co-drafted helped establish what would become the norm #oredchat

Ss set them. We do rotate weekly in some classes. Ssare to work out disagreements over seats themselves first, & they've come up with good ways to do that. We found that first come first serve does eliminate tardies but the running down the hall was frowned on by the P. #OrEdChat

This made me chuckle. Believe it or not I had 2 students last year that sat at a desk everyday. Not because I put them there, but because they knew they learned much better in traditional seating choices. #oredchat#flexibleseating

Exactly! I tried to let them try other things and they would look at me and remind me it was there choice. It's always been funny to me that they had so many fun choices and they still wanted the desks. I'd love to see more flexible seating in the upper years too! #oredchat
My HS Ss were reluctant at first, so I took out 18 desks and left 10, as they gravitated daily toward the #flexibleseating options & away from desks, I removed desks from the room. Now have 2, but they sit on top of them at the pub table for additonal seating around it. #OrEdChat
