A1-Loved what @Tommyspall did when he taught for me. He had a wonder wall where students could write down questions they wondered about. Each week, they took some time to answer a few of the questions. #TXed
A1 We can model that mindset of continuous learning by sharing the books we are reading. We also need to ask open ended questions and let Ss have time to find the answers on their own. #txed

I think if you offer real-world problems, there is never an end to learning. Continuous goal-changing, new challenges, ever-changing portfolios. Learning is a continuum, it never ends! #TXed
A2 I have a long wishlist of books on Amazon. Some on Culture and some on Literacy. I want to improve the culture of our school, so I will read up!! #txed
A2 Right now we are working on Depth of Knowledge, hard vs rigorous, etc. I am loving the learning, AND taking the "analog" training and making it applicable in the real world. #txed
#txed Jim, Counselor from Central Texas. Joining late on the road. A2 -- My summer has revolved around travel and learning ways to take learning outside my building. Looking to create moments inside the building and sharing outside.
A2- Looking for ways to grow innovation that isn’t necessarily driven by technology. Our students need more opportunities to collaboratively solve problems. Also, better assessment strategies to better understand student growth. #TXed.
A2: I am currently reading #boldschool and learning a LOT of great ideas for utilizing tech to support research proven of school strategies. I want to investigate and create even more examples #txed
A1: If we want our students to have mindsets of continuous learning, we must model this and be learners ourselves. Share with our students how we are also still learning and growing. #Txed
A3 In a PD recently, I had teachers ask the Google Assistant the questions. If the assistant can answer them, too easy....I've read about a teacher that has kids "race Alexa" for answers #txed
A3: it is about the questions you ask..look for non-Google ones or teach them how to research it better I heard example if you Google why are dogs better than cats or viceversa you only get those but if you use research tips you get research #txed
A3: The more excited we can get students about learning and engaged in topics of their choice and interests, the more likely they will ask more questions! #Txed
A3) Challenge Ss to dig deeper than searching the what and how and seek richer responses that address the impact, significance, cause/effect and relevance #TXed
Love this idea to have teachers ask Alexa or Google Assistant to test the level of questions. If the computer can answer, it’s probably not requiring higher order thinking... #txed

Hard facts: State spending per student (in blue) is roughly the same today as it was in 2008. Adjusted for inflation, the state is spending less. This as your property tax share (in orange) has steadily gone up. #txed#txlege
#txed A3 -- I was in journalism in a former life and my editor would always say that to get better answers, you have to ask better questions. Ask questions that ask why or need explaining. Yes or no won't work. We need to do the same in education. Ask better questions.
A4 Podcasts: Google Teacher Tribe, 5 minutes with the counselor, ditch pod, wired educator, cult of pedagogy, 10-minute teacher, the press release, house of edtech, hack learning #txed
#txed A4 -- Be still my heart. I have started a podcast this summer "5-Minutes with the counselor." I have published 24 episodes and have more than 500 listens. It is so much fun. I'm now interviewing counselors from all over the USA. @ShabbyGeek101 has a great podcast as well.
A4) I am big on blogs from @Catlin_Tucker and podcasts from @Wes_Kieschnick along with the motivation of @TyroneCHoward. 3 awesome Visionaries that inspire the heck out of me to challenge myself to be a better human being and remind me why I am an educator! #TXed
A5 I tend to collect with Twitter Lists, Facebook Save Links and organize, Pinterest, etc. Then move them to and organize in Keep so they can be shared as well as opportunity for collaboration #TxEd
A6 - Tell them what needs to be mastered and WHY (because I said so / because it's on the test are no longer acceptable). The why is where it is connected to real world, problem solving, etc. Let them take the lead #TxEd
A6) With my campus adopting Quadrant D, this opens the door to allow Ss more opportunities to highlight a connections w/ the content by creating products via technology! #TXed
A6-Nothing can ever replace an amazing teacher. Yet an amazing teaching that shows students the correct way they use technology and take ownership of their learning....well then I would say the students have a good chance in the future. #TXed
#TXed Jerry Toups here, I have created DOZENS of tutorial videos on my YouTube page. The kids LOVE THEM! They take about a class period to go through if you pause the video on the questions. 1 of my favs! https://t.co/7Q1LvxMVfU
A6-The advantage will hopefully inspire students to seek out learning and problem solving. It is amazing to think that we are preparing them for jobs that do not even exist yet. #TXed
#txed A7 I will NEVER EVER teach without my @surface tablet. Greatest teaching tool I have EVER purchased. My website https://t.co/QpZgmKLgQL will be linked to my upcoming book and have TONS of Mr. Toups created curriculum from 6th math to Alg I.
Call me the mayor of Shocksville, but we got some great ideas out of this chat. Thanks for joining us tonight and please come back now...you hear! #TXed
