#NHCSchat is a monthly twitter chat for, about and by educators in New Hanover County, North Carolina. #NHCSchat is an opportunity for teachers, administrators and other educators in southeastern NC to grow and develop their personal learning network (PLN) by connecting to other educators in our district and around the world. This monthly chat will create a forum for NHCS educators to gather virtually around the common interest of providing the best possible learning experience for students in our district. Chat topics will vary but will focus on best practices for teaching and learning in the digital age and will be moderated primarily by NHCS educators.
A1: Bringing the world to the students is important so they can learn and be inspired from others. For example...maps, looking at the weather in different places, and learning about different cultures. #NHCSchat
A2: Helping students know their role and place in the world is so important. Knowing how to connect and bring out all strengths that they have from their culture and upbringing will make students appreciate and learn from one another. #NHCSchat
A3: Morning and Closing Meetings with guided/ purposeful questions help students learn to listen to each other. They build confidence as they share about themselves and learn how to be good listeners. These skills are important for lifelong/global learners. #NHCSchat

A6: Global perspective to me means that they have knowledge of a bigger picture and think of different perspectives. Our world is quick to judge, but if we teach them to understand culture/diversity it will hopefully impact the future positively. #NHCSchat
A7: I love starting with the weather. We look and track for Wilmington daily, then we start looking at other places in the US and around the world. My firsties start thinking of how it would feel to live different places and start making connections. #NHCSchat
