Hey #ditchbook friends! Excited to try something a little different in the chat tonight!
Matt here, #ditchbook author, speaker, Ditcher in Chief. Good to see you all!
A1: Students use @Seesaw to reflect on the learning process by snapping a pic of their work and evaluating what they would do differently. #INNOVATIVE#ditchbook
A1: As an interventionist we use @Flipgrid every Friday. Ss read the same passage. They listen to the previous recording, take notes, and try to improve with their next one. More powerful when I’m not telling them what to fix! #ditchbook
Today it was having a google sheet activity to work on unit rates. Love the reaction from team Aldi noticed that Team Publix added emojis into the cells. #DitchBookhttps://t.co/NPlMP105E0
Hello everyone good he be here on my first #DitchBook chat. Sorry I’m a bit late putting the kiddos to bed. I’m Brian Carnes from @CVUnified from Coachella, CA
A1: My Ss create #BookSnaps to reflect on their reading, & we love creating #CaptionThis with Google Slides or working on a collaborative Google Slides deck. Lots of possibilities. #DitchBook
Howdy #ditchbook ! Jen here, MS teacher and EdTech Inst. Specialist (and fashionably late 2nite) in MO! ;)
A1: empowered learning looks like #flippedlearning to me! Ss get choice and voice in how they access material. :)
This is the ONLY question tonight!
Discuss it. Think about it. Look at others' replies.
Then come back tomorrow for the next question. New question every night.
Looking forward to seeing how a slow chat works with the fantastic #ditchbook family!
Hey all. John 3rd from STL. Interesting/awesome format for #ditchbook. Ss this year use @Flipgrid grids and/or Google slides they've suggested and/or created based on their favorite books
A1: I teach in a very rural community where Ss don’t have regular access to tech, so I always offer Ss choice in medium and direction for assignments. If we have the ability to develop digital literacies, we take it, but don’t rely on it. Edublogs w/ forums are fun. #DitchBook
A1: Empowered learners OWN their education. They don't "rent" it ... They sign the deed and make improvements on their own!
Blogged about it here: https://t.co/wPg7PPzr6Z#ditchbook
In fact some folks think they are innovating by infusing tech, while their neighbors might be empowering learners more without opening a device... #ditchbook
Hi #ditchbook! Joining in the slow chat and excited for a week of gathering new ideas! Our #empoweredlearner project = give the students the learning goals for the unit and ask them how they want to get there.
A1: Always let your students know that they can teach you something and then give the students opportunities to teach their classmates and the teacher #ditchbook
Absolutely, and tech can give you more flexibility to manage and connect with students, to give them choice and ownership of their learning, if you let it... #ditchbook
Started that ownership process today by doing a walkthrough grade conference. Sudents assess themselves and defend their grade. So far no one too far off. #DitchBookhttps://t.co/2DLru5uTkN
We are using it to connect kids with community members. Students are creating promos for the local public library and getting feedback by uploading them through flipgrid... #ditchbook
A1: I love incorporating elements of student choice wherever possible and using lots of primary sources to back up class material--I think it involves kids in history instead of them learning from outside it, and it allows them to interact with it in ways they want to #ditchbook
