Q1 Why is creating opportunities for others so important in a culture of learning?
Robert from Los Angeles. Ready to being teaching year 24 tomorrow!
I am seeing some new faces tonight. Please remember to use the hashtag in every tweet to deliver your thought to the convo!
A1: W/o opportunity, we cannot see the true potential of our Ss or Ts. We need the chance to make mistakes.
RT
Q1 Why is creating opportunities for others so important in a culture of learning?
A1 Creating opportunities means you have removed a barrier. By doing this you have opened a door of love for learning & growth.
A1: Ownership is key in a Culture of Learning- everyone must have opportunities to lead.
A1: Opportunities lead to growth mindset, people see they can contribute and grow! People don't like just being there
A1 provides new opportunities to reflect and see new perspectives and ideas of others
Daniel, middle school math teacher, Birmingham, Al
A1: When you give others opportunities to decide what they learn or how they learned it allows the Ss to go deeper in the subject
Greetings from Allen, Tx!
A1 Learning begins with opportunity
A1: Some people may be hesitant to try new things unless they are provided the opportunity
A1: opportunities allow everyone to have the chance to contribute
The openness to make mistakes creates the culture to take risks!
A1: We work as a team. Creating opportunities is a key way we lift each other up and learn together.
A1 we all possess diff strengths. Opportunities allow us all to learn from & with one another. Together we are stronger
A1 Without opportunities, it would be a culture of compliance. Who wants to learn under those conditions?
All of us need the chance for failure. How can we succeed otherwise?
https://t.co/rZIwIwk9l3
A1: We work as a team. Creating opportunities is a key way we lift each other up and learn together.
A1 Teaching & learning should be all about opportunities, adventure, exploration, insight, wisdom, creativity, & passion!
A1:Doing is where the true learning takes places
A1: As an effective educator it is important to be a life long learner and to lead by example! Learning from others is key!!
A1: opportunities = chance for discovering so many new things
thanks for having me, excited for another great
A1-if you provide safe opportunities and I fail I am safe to try again. If I succeed and it feels good, I will try again=growth
A1. Have to create a culture of lifelong learners. Create opportunities to grow = coalition of leaders
A1 gives the learners a voice and choice
Life long learner!
Lead by example!

A1: As an effective educator it is important to be a life long learner and to lead by example! Learning from others is key!!
A1: When there are opportunities to do great things, it brings excitement and hope.
A1: Learners want to grow, move up.... "If you aren't busy living you are busy dying!"
A1 Creating opportunities for others helps them think about themselves in new light.Reach for something new.Learn about themselves.
A1:Doing is where the true learning takes place.
A1: Creating an opportunity for others IS the essence of a COL. Beyond important, it is the backbone of COL.
A1 we all have leadership skills. Opportunities allow some to shine in ways never imaginable
Allowing failure as an opportunity helps drive the want for success.
A1: The default can so often be a culture of competition, culture of scarce rewards both among Ts and Ss. Self-fulfilling prophesy.
4th grade teacher from MN! First :)
Trust is essential to allow for this failure as well. We must know we are going to be safe when we fail. https://t.co/Xo5ur2LE6w
Allowing failure as an opportunity helps drive the want for success.
A1: Providing a true culture of learning is about passing on the opportunities that were afforded to us all at some point to grow
A1 Creating opportunities for others allows new leaders to emerge.
I agree and many times we do not provide our students with an opportunity to fail
Working towards opportunities for others, for all cultivates collaboration which fuels innovation https://t.co/alufajsZcZ
A1: The default can so often be a culture of competition, culture of scarce rewards both among Ts and Ss. Self-fulfilling prophesy.
A1 Peps learn when they are allowed opportunities. L occurs when opportunities are strategically planned https://t.co/abWncOH7Rv
Q1 Why is creating opportunities for others so important in a culture of learning?
For sure! I am grateful for the opportunity to be a school leader. Thanks to ! https://t.co/jLGo4FD9xh
A1 Creating opportunities for others allows new leaders to emerge.
I enforce the saying "Failure is an option, not an outcome," in my classroom. It takes time but Ss buy in.
A1: creating opportunities = cultivating potential
I spy with my little eye.... both Halls are lurking!
Not only see but take action!
A1a So much true learning is an accident. Most lesson plans are roadblocks.
Q2 How will you create amazing opportunities for your students this year?
Learning is doing. Opportunities provide for learning. Spark curiosity and you unleash COL A2 https://t.co/k8oZcaWX0M
Q1 Why is creating opportunities for others so important in a culture of learning?
A1-No extrinsic reward is greater than the internal feelings of safety or satisfaction. Opportunities can provide those
A1: Part of the reason why I believe teacher PD needs to expand to include concepts
A1b Truly innovative teachers are really good at, essentially, jumping the hell out of the way.
This!

A1-No extrinsic reward is greater than the internal feelings of safety or satisfaction. Opportunities can provide those
A2 ask them how they will contribute to ... learning, school, community? Empower them to seek opportunties, create plans & celebr8
A2: Opportunities come when you don't shut the door and allow all ideas in: My students will make the opportunities my help
Q2 applying PBL and using UDL and SAMR as a way for redesigning of my assessments for more S-driven environment
A2: Expose Ss to as many ways to express learning as possible. Teach them how to build their own unique voice through their work.

A2 This begins by listening to students. Learn about them. Then create the circumstances for them to fly! https://t.co/7mTLAZn4h3

A2) Empower and encourage teachers to take risks and create fun and challenging opportunities with a real world focus.
A2 give choices on how to demonstrate learning, UDL and PBL incorporated w/visible learning

Also, where possible, empower Ps as part of the process/journey
Never too late for us! Welcome Mike!
I'm looking forward to giving my students choice this year https://t.co/3emX22PwLX
A2: By finding ways to say yes to their ideas instead of reasons to say no. They have great ideas, just need to help along the way.
A2 To create opportunities for students, first give them voice+ choice in their leading and learning. Ideas will grow from there.
"Being positive won't guarantee you'll succeed. But being negative will guarantee you won't." https://t.co/vvdD8rjQnK
A2 Increase the positives and remove the negatives...opportunities rise to the top.
A2: Providing opportunities for Ss to decide how to access information & engage in learning- choice not just for products

A5 I want to see and a synchronized interpretive dance to demonstrate learning!
A5: PowerPoint presentations, oral presentations and allowing students to teach back to other peers.
A5: In darker news there is a standardized arts test being kicked around in MI. Very disappointing.
A5 I'm moving away from focusing on mastery to progressively moving forward & deeper, no matter how proficient or struggling a S is
I'm looking into presenting at this year at OU! Hope to see you there
NOOOOOOO! Are you serious?
Oh no!! What a crusher! If you believe in it, go for it!! https://t.co/Q86dBtjYfc
A3: I am also teaching a course my Dept lead said is dying so don't bother making improvements...I don't know how to not improve

RT
Q6 Explain how risk taking and "failure" can be looked at as opportunities for growth and change.
I went to one here in NJ, it was fabulous. I'm always looking for this area
A6: Failure can be a success because you just found one more way something didn't work! Celebrate it! Then try again.
A6: Taking the "safe" way through the year will not be accepted - risk it! Every day is a great day to be wrong
A6 Growth & change don't come from the easy & comfortable path. Life's bumps and bruises teach us powerful lessons. Take a risk.
A5 Empowering= Ss given choices
Engaging= choices involve tech e.g.infographics, screencasts, sketchnotes
https://t.co/aMVzo5Er1l
Q5 What opportunities do students have to show they have learned and mastered (besides a test)?
A6: When I watch Ss take risks I watch the giant strides forward they take. More difficult to see that in first person until after.
A6-if S doesn't get overwhelming neg feelings-they feel safe and will keep trying. Regulatory capacity deals with internal feelings
