Hi #6thchat. Howard here. I like tweetdeck but I think I need a 36" widescreen laptop.

A2: Ss strive to achieve the Almighty-A, but I don't believe grades motivate them to learn. I actually believe grades discourage Ss when they do not achieve "perfection" in a task. Grades are too final and do not encourage Ss to improve once they get them. #6thchat

A2: I think of the Zone of Proximal Development. If you think you can learn something, the grade 'might' be worth the risk. But no, I don't think grades are a good motivator. Maybe I'm being cynical but I question the motives of that entire system. Who made it & why? #6thchat

Too many of our Ss have had negative experiences with grades & they are so discouraged once they get to us in 6th grade. It's a difficult chore to bring Ss back from years of discouragement, but when grades go out the window they realize they have potential in learning. #6thchat
