Q1: What is your favorite app or extension for classroom use? Tell us a little about it and how you're using it!
-
-
-
Erin, K teacher, not from CT, but always interested in more apps and extensions!
-
-
I love Easybib Extension, guides Ss through the process of creating MLA citations and exports to Gdoc
-
A1: So, I am going to cheat a little with this answer. I can't pick one, so I'll just share my app website https://t.co/9ZhWvS7dKn
-
-
Hi! Ruth, English T in Canton. I use the share to classroom extension. Makes it really easy to share resources I find with classes
-
A1: So simple, but I'm really loving Google Slides. My colleague and I create art Slides for Ss in a shared folder!
-
(Please note that is def work in progress and only has apps available in the Play for Edu Store, since we block Chrome Web Store
-
we go beyond CT. Don't worry!
-
-
A1. My favorite extension has to be Flubaroo- allows me to quickly assess Ss knowledge.
-
-
Thanks! Many hours of work (and love) went into that.
-
A1: or to record and share tutorials, screen casts, etc
-
We use on the Chromebooks this year. Ss can look at each other's work and add video now too!
-
A1: We are moving to 1-1 chrome book next year so looking for all the ideas I can get to kick off w/awesome tech extensions
-
A1: I love evernote, drive and clipular
-
A1: I have found google drawings to be powerful when it comes to differentiation of projects.
-
come join talking PD right now!
-
used Fluency Tutor for a bit, but didn't think it was worth the 100 investment.
-
A1 I love, love, love Doctopus/Goobric to receive S work and grade it without paper. Instantly emails score and feedback.
-
Also I use Sites to add videos from YouTube and then the ads and extras are gone. Either bookmark or use QR codes to get there
-
I love GDrawings for LOTS of things! So powerful for the little ones. Love, love WeVideo too. Drive integration is awesome.
-
A1 Classroom is also perfect for kindergartners so I can easily send out links or templates.
-
A1: I say this every time...but Read&Write for Google is awesome! Allows grade level text to be read by all levels!
-
A1 Also love customizing Google Slides to set up as 8.5/11 publishing format. Great for electronic journaling.
-
If you haven't checked out The Foos for coding at the elem level, please do! Such a great one.
-
A1: Love when Ss use Google slides to app smash!
-
-
Also, CarrotSticks-multi-player math pratice for elem students
-
-
Thank you, ! Made our day :) ^JK
-
-
I'll take a look after the chat. I have it installed on my account and a Ss account.
-
Kids sign in to our class account and can easily look at each other's work. No tying up our iPads
-
Teachers can get it for free.
-
cool. Great site, BTW. Thansk for sharing.
-
elem math practice. Super easy to use and kids can play against kids online (safely)
-
Former New Havener -now in MD. Crashing the party. School Media Specialist. - works with chrome books to project Sw.
-
have to look into that. Thx.
-
Ss can also add pics with voice, type, and now video too!
-
All features free for 30 days, but TTS is free after that. That's the best feature!
-
Q2 coming up in 1 minutes
-
-
Really want to check that one out!
-
I'll make sure to sign up.
-
Q2: How do you keep your students organized and productive? What is your favorite apps or extension for student productivity
-
Q2: I really had to narrow this list down. It is a long one! Ready? Grammarly (Ext)-Spell and grammar check.AMAZING and must have.
-
-
I will 2nd that it is amazing and so easy. Free for parts of it. Image dictionary costs.
-
A2: Google Similar Pages.
Lightshot-easy screenshot and annotate. Save to Drive-takes web capture and saves it to Drive.
Save as PDF
-
A2: has made delivery and collection of resources so easy
-
A2: Agree with is a game changer!
-
A2: as a whole for me. The ease of sharing, viewing, commenting on docs, slides, etc, makes my workflow easier.
-
A2: Evernote-clips webpages. StayFocusd-content blocker while you’re studying. Great for HS kids. RemindMe-gives alerts
-
Agreed. Classroom all day long for this. Organized and can give feedback from word 1.
-
Yep! It's truly changing the face of education...in a good way!
-
A2: Save to Google Drive, extension is a must have for Ss
-
A2 Google Classroom made me and Ss more productive and organized. Can't imagine teaching without it.
-
A2. Stay focused is a great ext. for older students. Save to Google Drive is great for Ss.
-
I'm also trying not to overlap my ext that I'm saving for Q3 :-)
-
I recently read about this...does it help with Ss who are off on sites they should not be on?
-
A2 Classroom has made using CHromebooks in K easier. We only have 4 and use as a center. They are more independent this way.
-
I'd love to hear more about your Classroom use w/K! I have Ts who want to try it but are nervous to dive in
-
How does stay focused work?
-
A2? I can't wait for the new IOS. Ind. Ss logins. Drive app doesn't log out now. All Ss can access others' work.
-
A2: GCalendar has made ME more organized with my staff. Tracking meetings, events, Hangouts...etc
-
Ss (or Ts!) can "turn it on" when ready so it blocks distracting content, like social media
-
when is that iOS update coming?
-
-
I am still just getting started. We have a set of 4 and they take up less space than desktops!
-
IOS update sometime in March or April, supposedly.
-
Q3: What are your favorite apps/ext for teacher use? What are you using for yourself that you absolutely love?
-
Have upper grade Ss come help enter codes to sign up younger Ss. Done in minutes.
-
They use them to access our listening center (GoogleSite) and then respond in Seesaw
-
I am not an admin, but you need to have a group set up in the console. Or push out through Play for Edu.
-
I am getting a scan app for all, so they can use QR codes to get where I want them to be. Able to be so independent!
-
At this point in the year some of my K's can do without sign in cards. Rest need cards but can do it!
-
-
-
-
-
If you aren't using OneTab, you don't know what you are missing. It is my best friend.
-
A3. My favorite is OneTab. I'm a Tab person. This allows me to save all my tabs. Awesome.
-
And I would have asked to be in my wedding, had we been friends back then. . Such an amazing ext!
-
A3: I like the url shortener, symbaloo, and edpuzzle.
-
A3 I LOVE goo.gl shortener for QR codes. Made my life so much easier!
-
I don't use symbaloo! I'll have to check it out.
-
-
A must have for extensions!!
-
A3 TechSMith snagit is great for screenshots or parts of the screen and annotating. I use for blog posts and tutorials
-
A3 Trying to love EDpuzzle...found all the videos I use, but having some tech issues. Gonna keep trying.
-
-
Symbaloo saves a lot of time if you create your homepage.
-
Re: Google Classroom; I can’t say I love it. Ran my own gClassFolders / Doctopus version and kinda liked that better.
-
I do like Google Classroom’s auto-create a copy for Ss, & the “See New Changes” feature. But was kinda meh about the rest.
-
I am obsessed with all products.I use the SnagIt ext to make gifs that I pop in Slides, & use Camtasia daily
-
Hello all! I'm enjoying all your tweets about awesome extensions. Thank you!
-
-
-
A2: Late to the chat, but is my favorite way to organize for Ss.
-
Always keeping pad and paper next 2me during twitter chats cause I get so many ideas and resources. I cannot write fast enough during

-
OT but if you use the iPad - NYS/NYC has a great app on immigration. Best I've seen.
-
Do you have a link for that app? Would love to share it with some colleagues.
-
-
We LOVE - it is the homepage for our Ss K-4. So much easier for everyone. Also love it for curating everything.
