Welcome to today's chat on path and pace. Q1 Why is personalized learning important for our students ?
-
Thanks for the chat invite!

Nikki Pearson, Riverside CA- 8th grade ELA
-
Christa Heath Atlanta Georgia
-
Amy Lewis, Augusta GA (h.s. math)
-
Sofie Kondro. Missouri. HS ELA teacher.
-
PL is important to Ss because ed shouldn't be one size fits all, all learning styles need to be addressed
-
A1: learning is personal. If learning is not personal for Ss, you will not engage them with the content.
-
Ss should be allowed to take ownership of their learning, they should be engaged, not compliant!
-
Q2 Do you use the path and pace methodology in your classroom today?
-
Emerging Education Technologieshttp://www.myassignmenthelp.net/blog/6-emerging-education-technologies/
-
-
I love "engaged, not compliant" That's a great way to describe it!
-
A2: Yes, I offer Ss path and pace via competency based advancement.
-
A2: not familiar with path and pace methodology. Would like more information.
-
how have you managed this in your classroom?
-
Students work at their own pace and their path could be based upon ability, learning style or achievement
-
-
by offering choices on how to learn and practice content, and demo mastery.
-
Q3 What role can technology play in supporting path and pace in the our students learning
-
-
How do students know which to complete?
-
Do your students usually work at the level you believe they are capable? Do they "take the easy way"?
-
A3:Tech plays a big role in supporting pace and path by offering Ss variety in how to learn and demo mastery
-
Ss pick 1 activity from each column, they pick based on their learning style and/or comfort level
-
-
yes, surprisingly they do, if they don't, they usually won't be successful on assessment.
-
A3: Students want to be on their devices. Rather the fight it, I try to research and find ways to include it.
-
agree students learn the first time not to take what they think is he easy way
-
I dont know it by name either, but sounds like a cool idea. not sure if it is right for my population

Q4 Who has used Symbaloo Lesson Plans in their classrooms
-
Q4: I just learned about lesson planning feature today , going to play with it soon!
-
-
A4: I didn't realize symbaloo had these ed tools until today. Excited to check it out!
-
give it a try! It was scary at first, but glad I pushed through, Ss loved it!
-
A4 - Lesson Plans are awesome , quick and easy way to develop path and pace for students
-
excited to give it a try!
-
Have you thought about how you can implement a choice board in Symbaloo Lesson Plans?
-
no I haven't, but it's cool that pace and path is supported on there. Now I'm really looking fed to using it
-
Q5 -Did you know that Lesson Plans allow multiple pathway all in one location and achievement can guide moving forward on the path?
-
A5: no I didn't, but I'm excited to use this new vehicle in offering path and pace for novel units.
-
I just walked through a lesson in the marketplace on rates and ratios. Very interesting. I can see using this!
-
Yes the marketplace is a great way to start if you are unsure about starting on your own.
