#K12ArtChat is an #ArtsEd chat that happens every Thurs 8:30 pm CST founded by #TeamGrundler @ArtGuy76 & @GrundlerArt & share Ss' art on Fridays via #FabArtsFri.
I am so excited to be hosting #K12ArtChat this evening. I am an Ed Tech at a 1:1 iPad HS in Austin, Texas. I love to read, bullet journal, blog, and create AND am slightly obsessed with washi tape and pretty pens. 😉🤣#CreativelyProductive
Hi I'm Brooke from Houston Texas - I am a Learning Guide (Google PD trainer) at friEdTechnology. I'm excited to see all this creativity! 🎨🖌️🖼️ #K12ArtChat
Q1: What is your most effective strategy for keeping organized (e.g. email, desk, classroom, digital documents, etc…)? #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
Q1: What is your most effective strategy for keeping organized (e.g. email, desk, classroom, digital documents, etc…)? #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
Hi, I’m Jennifer, an Autism Educator from No. Va. I used to be craftier before kids but now I color to relax and love pinning ideas I “hope” to make “someday”. 😝 #K12ArtChat
Q1: What is your most effective strategy for keeping organized (e.g. email, desk, classroom, digital documents, etc…)? #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
A1: I might not have a good one for this - I'm the person with thousands of notifications/red dots on my phone and I use my desktop for saving everything..... #K12ArtChat
A1: My favorite for digital organization is a custom desktop organizer. I am slightly obsessed with them. I made one with the book’s theme to get organized for the pre-release. #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
A1: For digital documents I put everything into @googledrive with descriptive names. I clear out my downloads folder weekly and keep nothing on my desktop. A busy desktop full of icons drives me crazy! #K12ArtChat
A1: Hmmmm….I am still struggling with that. But I think, being split between 2 campuses forces helps in staying organized w/ supplies. Making sure you have everything you need ready. #K12ArtChat#CreativelyConnectedEDU
I have a dump bucket. I cannot just put stuff down anywhere if I don’t have time 2 put it away right away it goes n the bucket. I make sure to leave time at the end of the day to clean out the dump bucket. Nothing ever goes on my desk or random places around the room #k12artchat
Q1: What is your most effective strategy for keeping organized (e.g. email, desk, classroom, digital documents, etc…)? #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
A1: I love all plastic containers!but in the digital world I use Google Keep & tasks in Gmail. Also - I create lots of folders for my booksmark bar and change favicons with the extension. Ok I'm done! 😆#K12ArtChat
A1 I keep a clipboard w/ a weekly schedule on it. Bottom page is a running list of any art supplies so when I put in an order I know what & how many. I also use a monthly calendar on my desk color coded:union evwnts in red, staff meetings in teal etc...#K12ArtChat#stickynotes
Moving on to Q2... What strategies do you use to manage your time and still remain productive? Do you have any favorite apps, tips, tools, or processes? #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
That's just about the hardest thing about being a fine arts teacher - so many preps! I used lots of paper sized totes, duct tape and sharpie for labels (so I could easily change the label)
#K12ArtChat
A1: if I get irritated with an email subscription (looking at you Kohl’s) i unsubscribe, always can add back easily. @gmail makes it really simple to unsubscribe #K12ArtChat
We have a few teachers with 3 or 4 preps and several classrooms. I think there saving grace is totes and a rolling cart. I applaud you. That is a herculean task! #K12ArtChat
Q2: What strategies do you use to manage your time and still remain productive? Do you have any favorite apps, tips, tools, or processes? #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
A1: I answer emails & add dates mentioned right away. I love when colleagues send invites to meetings (don’t necessarily 💗 the mtgs) so it can be done in one step!! I star/flag imp’t things to be revisited. Paper: I use Adobe to scan docs to cut down on desk clutter! #k12artchat
A2: my Google Calendar is my life line. I put everything there including reminders to take breaks! I set little personal activities out on Monday and try to finish them by the end of week. #K12ArtChat
A2. I make a daily list of the top 5 items to complete daily. I utilize my PAY when I can to make copies, cut paper, help hang artwork so I can use more time to stay organized #K12ArtChat
A1 I just “kondo” my construction paper cabinet and several other areas. I always feel bad for 3rd semester Ss - the room is well used by then. #k12artchat
I’m Tiffany, K-5 art teacher at a combined neighborhood and Montessori school in Rochester, MN and I’m so excited to finally have time to be a part of a #k12ArtChat#creativelyproductive
A2: I struggle w/ ADD so I do a brain dump of everything I need to do & then I prioritize it. And then I create a list for the am and the pm. I have lists for literally everything. #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
I wish I had an answer... I seriously have no concept of time. I am usually just scrambling to get the thing done that is due next. I try to take on too much and then feel like I have done nothing. #k12artchat
@Anydo is a good one it sends reminders on day or time or place. We have a rotating Advisory period (So, I try to stay on my grading during the times I am off for 20 mins) #K12ArtChat#CreativelyConnectedEDU
Q2: My tip for staying productive is stopping for a breather, if I dont walk around or slow down to regain "productiveness" Im lost. I manage time by making sure chilling out is part of the formula #K12ArtChat#CreativelyProductive
A2: At home-I ask my Google Home for help (“set a timer for X; please add a reminder for X”). She’s amazing! In school-Google Calendar and phone alarms (mtgs, transitions, etc). 😆 #k12artchat
We have been trying https://t.co/2bvfCq2Rbo but we really need an app for the whole family #K12ArtChat - a family of creatives that struggle with time........

A2: Lists! One Note is one of my new favorite apps and my good old fashioned blue planner book where I hand write everything. It’s like my bible! #k12ArtChat
Q2: What strategies do you use to manage your time and still remain productive? Do you have any favorite apps, tips, tools, or processes? #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
Yes. Such a great answer. I love sleep. Love it! But I also love reading and doing things and I don't have the vampiric quality to not need to sleep so alas. #k12ArtChat#CreativelyProductive
A3: I wish I had more time to blog and create content and resources. I love designing content, sharing ideas, processes, & teacher lessons but there is only so much time in the day... and night for that matter. #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
Q2: My tip for staying productive is stopping for a breather, if I dont walk around or slow down to regain "productiveness" Im lost. I manage time by making sure chilling out is part of the formula #K12ArtChat#CreativelyProductive
A3/ I have so many ideas for projects I feel@like I don’t have time@to try out and make a student sample... so many ideas so little time. Sometimes it’s just trial and error and 1st time modeling with Ss #K12ArtChat
Q4: If I could only choose one tool to design content for my students, it would be ______________ . Explain and/or share some of your favorite examples. #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
A3: I would love more time to listen to webinars & watch TED talks and #sketchnotes while I watch. It always gets shoved to the bottom of my to do list #K12ArtChat
A1: I use my OneDrive on the computer! I can access my files anywhere and share what I want. I stay organized everywhere else by making lists- helps with my anxiety over making sure everything gets done. #K12ArtChat
Q4: If I could only choose one tool to design content for my students, it would be ______________ . Explain and/or share some of your favorite examples. #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
A4 Definitely google slides. Every lesson, I create one and publish the link to my students. I can make changes and additions and they always have the most up-to-date version. #k12artchat
A3: I always hear myself saying to my kids (aka my students)..... I wish we had more hands on time and of course more personal time to create and get it all in #K12ArtChat
A4: Hmmm Hard to decide but I think @canva is what I use the most. We use it in our graphic design unit in conjunction with the @OfficialCricut. Here are a couple stickers I made on @canva and cut on vinyl for the #turner202strong fine arts fair #K12ArtChat
A4: Google slides! I finally transitioned to it and could not go back to anything else. I love the ability to create anywhere and share with others #k12ArtChat#CreativelyProductive
Q4: If I could only choose one tool to design content for my students, it would be ______________ . Explain and/or share some of your favorite examples. #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
Q4: Google Draw hands down! It's my very favorite tool to use. I can create any lesson or graphic for any platform. Here are some of my examples https://t.co/64nSW8iQ9L#k12ArtChat
A2: I get to school early before everyone else so I can focus. I have a turn in cart that I take things from to grade- it helps with organization and clutter. #K12ArtChat
A5: For me, I have to make sure that my personal goals are really aligned to my values so I know I am moving in the right direction, so I do a values audit once a year or so: https://t.co/2TAJwiiEvD#creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
A5: I also like setting “visual” goals in 3 to 6 month spurts rather than 12 months. I try to create a visual to represent each goal. #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
Q6 is Up: What are your favorite reflective practices personally, professionally, or activities you use with your students? #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
Final Question of the night: Q6: What are your favorite reflective practices personally, professionally, or activities you use with your students to reflect on their work? #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
A4: My one tool for deigning content is PowerPoint, not the boring stuff, or atiff that os typically seen. Rather, animation, screen casting, image maniuplation, layering, design suggestions, and more. It is a swiss army knife kinda tool!
#K12ArtChat
A6: For summer or holidays, I like to do a Doodle-A-Day. I draw a quick icon of something from that day that was the most memorable. #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
Our state eval process requires a personal goal that I track each year with evidence that can be written, photos, videos or a combination. It forces me to be thoughtfull in a big picture idea that has small components tracked throughout the year #K12ArtChat
A6: For students, I am looking to use a portfolio index using Google Doc with reflection prompts and a place to link work and exemplars. #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
A6: I hate to admit it but using my phone to look back on pics from the day and for my Ss I need more ideas because reflection is so important and deserves time in the studio #k12ArtChat#creativelyproductive
Final Question of the night: Q6: What are your favorite reflective practices personally, professionally, or activities you use with your students to reflect on their work? #creativelyproductive#K12ArtChat
I’m still teaching myself google, everyone thinks everyone knows it. I’ve never had a PD on it and taking time for that, is one more thing. I’ve got classrooms and drives ( kinda) #k12artchat
I am constantly reminded of all of the things I don't know. I think the key to moving forward is staying humble, a willingness to learn, not taking yourself too seriously, and being creative which I think art teachers have all of these in spades. #k12ArtChat
