Four goats. Two longhorns. A flock of chickens and some farm dogs + two very spoiled donkeys. So...a petting zoo maybe? #FlipClass
    In reply to @thomasson_engl
  • thomasson_engl - Moderator Jun 5 @ 8:11 PM EDT
Is that just goat milk and eggs? Or are the longhorns for eatin', too? I was wondering whether there were also veggies grown. #flipclass

#flipclass I give flexiblty to st's on IEP's, "bad days," absences, etc. But how to keep them from abusing and messing arnd. Incentives?
  • thomasson_engl - Moderator Jun 5 @ 8:15 PM EDT
A1 The choices are basically "suffer the natural consequences of not learning and failing" or "be at x place by y day" #flipclass
  • JJBackeberg Jun 5 @ 8:15 PM EDT
A1: Aside from having conversations with them about consequences and encouraging them to keep up...? I got nothing else #flipclass

  • arnoldscience Jun 5 @ 8:27 PM EDT

    In reply to @JeffMcManus3, @guster4lovers
  • MickieGibbs2 Jun 5 @ 8:27 PM EDT
A3: I have found choice does not have to be elaborate. Even a choice on which way to practice - puzzle, game, worksheet - helps. #flipclass
  • SavannahTeacher Jun 5 @ 8:27 PM EDT
A3: I use choice boards and RAFT writing. Last semester someone wrote from the perspective of Jason & Medea's divorce lawyer! #FlipClass
  • MickieGibbs2 Jun 5 @ 8:28 PM EDT

A2: grades are the devil in a flipped classroom. We are required to have a certain number a week. #FlipClass
  • thomasson_engl - Moderator Jun 5 @ 8:34 PM EDT

  • JeffMcManus3 Jun 5 @ 8:37 PM EDT
Agreed. My best students love that they don't have to "check boxes" when they already know it/can do it. #flipclass
    In reply to @thomasson_engl, @MissWice
  • arnoldscience Jun 5 @ 8:38 PM EDT
What I also try to do with choice and asynchronous both is make them log what they want to get done & what they get done each day #flipclass
