-
-
-
-
A4: Showcase positives of school through Twitter.
-
I'm new to Wyoming - my contacts are limited! But I will always put a good word in for people I think are strong!
-
Sounds like great lead in to another question
-
A4) Start with the vision - what do you want from the successful applicant? Someone to transform or keep things as they are.
-
We don't want Ts with that kind of negativity anyway. WY is the best! https://t.co/VxP0DsAg5D
-
-
A4: Recruiting high quality applicants is tough because most of them don't want to live in WY, thinking it's too podunk

-
-
Q4: How do you recruit high quality applicants?
-
Great answer... we represent wherever we are... store, social media, conferences...
-
A4 Invite S teachers. Our dist has hired a ton at ele level. Stay connected w others as Ts & admin
-
I interviewed for a position in Wyoming. They didn't hire me, and took an unqualified candidate.
-
-
I think I probably thought content at first - admit it or not. I think that changed as I worked with more kids.
-
Reach out to universities! They know which students will make the best teachers along with who has the highest qualifications.
-
Q5: What roles does partnering and working with colleges play in recruiting?
-
Q5: What roles does partnering and working with colleges play in recruiting?
-
a4) Harder in bi District-D does a lot of the recruiting & we don't recruit (P) from other buildings. I may have as a teacher. ;)

Have fun peeps! See you UG Ss in class on Tuesday. My flight to is lining up to board. 💛
-
A5: I think that's where we find a lot of good applicants
-
Q5: What roles does partnering and working with colleges play in recruiting? https://t.co/Ta8z6JVtFb
-
-
Q5: What roles does partnering and working with colleges play in recruiting?
-
A5 I give a yearly Q&A to CWC Ss. We have been fortunate to have good candidates. I should reach out more.
-
A6. I think it's important to have teachers that are Rick stars to show college students the ropes. It attracts more
-
not the case in Cheyenne - we now have residency requirement to teach in the district and tons of applicants
-
A4. Good leadership and opportunities to collaborate and grow professionally.
-
A5: Get info from professors about applicants and have a strong idea of what they have accomplished.
-
A5: Partnering with colleges is very important for recruiting. Job Fairs, Student Teachers, recommendations ...
-
A4: build your brand both as a school & as a leader & those high quality candidates will come
-
A5) It's the circle of life - as Ss prep to move to college, they need experience. Schools need eyes on the future.
-
A5) Partnering is huge in and out of classrooms!
-
A5 access and connecting to potential teachers that are excited, full of energy and still very much in learning mode.
-
Mentorship programs for new teachers need to be in place with your stellar teachers leading the way
-
A-5) Going directly to the campus departments, because they will know the quality of students graduating from the programs
-
A5 the role is being informed - demand and supply and reputation of both entities
-
A5 I feel that partnership can build the good ones with the great ones. As said
-
Not true in Casper. Coming from other states because of the pay we offer. Most with experience.
-
A5: With BHSU in our back yard it is awesome. The college stays connected with all of our staff at many levels.
-
and letting that stay infectious to the staff is important
-
A5: Certainly helped my friend find a job! His advisor knew almost every principal in the state.
-
A4: also, always have eyes open for great people! Relationships matter,if you are worth working for people will hear that
-
-
-
wish my experience in communicating with UW was that easy. A challenge as a grad S for sure.
-
Q6: If you where applying today, what would be an unpaid benefit that would make you very happy?
-
Q6: If you where applying today, what would be an unpaid benefit that would make you very happy?
-
A5: It is a great way to gain information and get help
-
A6: Lots of great PD, some leeway to be creative and plenty of time to collaborate would lure me in...
-
A5: Professor/staff recommendations.
-
A6: an hour lunch and no lunch duty
-
A6: Working in a school with a positive atmosphere, opportunities for choice PD - like what I have now. :)
-
Principals - Look for UW HonorED - graduates. These are the best students in each discipline each year.
-
A6 collaborative teams focused on learning

-
A6: definitely PD opportunities-grown and learned so much with this being offered
-
A6: Honest and friendly staff that work together to colorable for better learning.
-
A6: Staff driven PD structured directly for student learning and parent communication.
-
A6. I would like ways to stretch my dollar. More group discounts. Schools have tons of negotiating power in communities.
-
a6) Hard for me to name it, I have always had a "feeling" about the schools I have worked. Is it a fit. I want to love going to W
-
A6 Good PLC plan. Time built in to work w colleagues. I can't imagine education otherwise. That's paid I guess. PD opportunities
-
A6: Opportunities and/or networks for spouses and family
-
A6Just a positive work environment where teachers and staff can work together collectively.

-
Q7: Who should have role in hiring process? Paents/Teachers/Students/community.
-
A7: Admin, fellow teachers
-

-
A6. Positive school culture.
-
A7 Really like students in the process. Even if older students at elem level
-
a7) Love the idea of students. at A.B.Combs (Leader in Me mothership) they say they do the best interviews. S see through phony
-
A7: Teachers because they know how the classrooms should be run, and what makes a good applicant.
-
A7: Admin, Ts, involved parents
-
A combination teachers, principles, and students.
-
A7: all: stakeholders are important.
-
A6: Meaningful PD and mentoring programs that don't feel like hoop-jumping
-
A7 gov teacher in me says parents get their say by voting in the school board... but do i agree with myself.
-
Q7: all of the above including parents of students
-
But can also be threatened by good candidate
-
A7: Teachers, administration, staff connected to hire, counselors
-
A good argument for students to be a part. But teacher voice is key too. Always want other minds&hearts to help
-
A7) Depends on the nature of the hire. The "bigger" the hire, the wider net for input. Involve as many stakeholders as possible.
-
no arguing with yourself outloud lol
-
A7 1st teachers followed by Ss, Ps and community.
-
Q8: What is best type of interview to get a true feel for canidates?
-
A7. All, esp Ts & Ss. It’s interesting to see Ss interact with applicant during actual lesson.
-
Q8: What is best type of interview to get a true feel for canidates?
-
A8: I guess I didn't realize there were different types of interviews????
-
I have seen this happen at several schools. Shining stars can intimidate. But shine anyway!
-
but we hope to employ honest and fair teachers in our schools.
-
A8 We have shied away from actual teaching during interview. Interaction w colleagues most important & personality fit
-
A8: An interview where they have to teach/present or do something unexpected! Can they think on their feet?
-
A8 I like the mock lesson...lets see them in the fire now. Like video analysis to see what they see as well
-
A8: Definitely one with an authentic lesson and actual Ss (not adults pretending).
-
-
A8) A demonstration. Teach a lesson. Get to see the candidates in front of actual children. Talk is cheap.
-
-
A8 full day with a meal and small groups of stakeholders
-
A8: A lesson in a real classroom to get a feel for how they teach and interact with students
-
Out of curiosity, why do you not have them teach anymore?
-
A8: on-site interviews give candidate and prospective employers the best idea of the fit
-
Student teaching is a really great interview as well. Always. Be. Professional. And continue learning.
-
I always love a good meal. You do have to have as much time with them as possible!
-
A8: Teach for America did a full day with different scenarios throughout the day. Intense.
-
A8: Teaching in front of Ss you have no rapport with would be intimidating.
-
Q9: Tough question...if you had to interview today, whould you get your job??
-
Q9: Tough question...if you had to interview today, whould you get your job??
-
A7: stakeholders ideally, but you need to be careful on WHO you bring in. Roles & Goals need to be defined
-
We've had a couple Ts look to go elsewhere & haven't felt good about it. Wouldn't have made a dif in any of our hires IMO
-
A8: Give and take in interview. Want discussion and see if candidate can think on feet. Multiple ways to interview.
-
-
A9: I would like to think so. Hoping to have an interview for a teaching position shortly
-
A9: Since I interviewed a year ago and got this new job, I think I would. It's been a great year!
-
A9: I did interview a month ago and I did get offered a position. Wahoo!
-
A9: I hope I would! Even though I have been doing this awhile, I keep my energy and passion and vigor going strong.
-
We haven't had them teach. Talked about adding that part, but haven't.
-
-
A9 it definitely helps when you are on the interviewer side of the table. Learn a lot from candidates.
-
Q10: Who is going to WYTECC?
-
Q11: Who is going to Google Summit?
-
A9 I would like to think I am better than I was when I started... but that was only few years ago in this job. :)
-
Yes. How do you build that rapport quickly? It would still make my heart beat but would love it!
-
Actually interviewed a few years ago for new position. It was awful. I was so unprepared. But I got it & think I would again!
-
A9: Good one. Student and communication focused. I think so but have learned a lot in 20 years. Teachers know more now.
-
A8: the interview should include teaching a lesson to the other teachers, teachers contribute opinions
-
A10/11: Getting married this summer so I'm taking a break from teaching obligations for a little bit!
-
A11: Going to Google Summit and PreSummit
-
A9 Yes. Getting better everyday! More prepared than ever
-
a9) Interesting question. I can't answer as interviewee out of my hands. I would do my best and trust right thing would happen.
-
I have an interview tomorrow for a summer camp counselor position, any advice?
-
A9: Confidence is key! Thanks for an introduction to Twitter,
-
Congrats! Enjoy your time away!
-
A8. Asking right questions to reveal
beliefs on curriculum, discipline, school culture, collegiality, commitment to profession.
-
A10/A11: Not going to either this year. Just excited to have no homework or training for a bit!
-
A9) I hope so. There are a ton of great band teachers out there, and I have a great job. Tough competition. I'd fight for it. :)
-
. Yes! Some student teachers have videos too - ready to go (and show) - from student teaching.
-
you've got to fight...for your right...
-
-
A10/11 Hopeful for Absolutely Summit
-
Relax and remember they’re human…laugh at your mistakes.
-
Time. It just depends on how much time the interview team allows.
-
Be awesome and change the world gang! ers have a great week
U all ROCK
-
thank you sir! Right back at ya!
-
-
A10/11) I will be at WYTECC, but then it's off on the family vacation.
-
A10/11: I'm going to read Amplify??? Self-directed tech PD-ish.
-
-
. Agreed time is an issue. Advantage - Videos can be viewed anytime by the team.
-
College students keep working hard, be the best you, learn and be patient sometimes a no leads to a better yes.
