DM me, seriously. This is such an amazing idea. We have been doing this the past several years. DM me, after #122edchat. That sounds mean. DM only if you want to talk. No pressure.
A1: Parents and my kids! Sending pictures on remind keeps me accountable to be a better me. Also, sounds silly, but going to see my pre-kers at Tball games and in the community pushes me to love well and make an impact. #122edchat
A1: I made sure to find balance by (almost) never bringing work home - keeping that work / life separation did wonders for my stress levels. #122edchat
A1: I kept myself going by joining Twitter chats and talking to my amazing colleagues such as @MissEllerbusch and @Ms_KayHayes. I am a person who likes to plan things out, so I made sure to write everything down in order to keep myself focused on what I needed to do. #122edchat
A1: Going to cheat slightly and say... Family and my PLNs. Few things are more powerful in trying or busy times than family, friends, and PLNs (which are really both of the aforementioned).
#122edchat
Hello #122edchat! I'm Jori from Northern CA and I teach HS English. One way I'll be re-energizing this summer is college visits with my youngest daughter
A1: Lists & prioritizing helps me stay focused when there’s so much going on! I worked hard to accomplish things during the week & then spent the weekends relaxing & recharging! It’s about having balance to keep going strong! #122edchat
A1
- Chocolate
- Remember my WHY
- Find someone to help motivate
- I keep a folder of positive notes to reference on really tough days
- Crossfit (Hit weights, not people)
#122edchat
A1: I would take time for myself to do things I enjoyed. Sometimes, I’d go see a movie or play Sims. I’d take a walk around the local zoo. It also helped to separate home from work so that I could avoid getting burnt out. I tried to leave work at work 90% of the time.
#122edchat
A1 I made sure to take time away from work and be with my family. Also, spending time doing non work related things w/ colleagues is a great way to keep the fire going for your career! #122edchat
A1: I pushed myself this year to try new things. I ended up with a lot on my plate between family, school and tennis. But striving to create a better experience for my Ss kept pushing me along through the year. #122edchat
A1: Balance: Staying student centered at school helped me stay focused there and kid centered at home (I have 8 year old twins) You have to learn life balance. #122edchat
A1 I made sure to take time away from work and be with my family. Also, spending time doing non work related things w/ colleagues is a great way to keep the fire going for your career! #122edchat
A1: Coffee (jk but not really), thinking about the purpose of what I was doing, trying to be healthier with food & exercise, connecting with my Twitter fam, and laughing/learning w/ my colleagues. #122edchat
A1: A desire to make sure I am staying professional. It's definitely been a busy, stressful time of year, but I choose to be a professional so my students hopefully don't see the wear and tear on my soul. #122edchat
A1: What kept me going was the excitement of the kids, continuing their curious conversations, and seeing their amazing growth. Also finding time to squeeze in short workouts and reading for pleasure on the weekends. #122edchat
A1: I changed my morning habit to include exercise and fiction reading. I try to also delay checking email for 30 minutes to choose the focus my day before someone else chooses it for me. #122edchat
A1: Something I NEVER gave up on was waking up early (4:45) to hop on the treadmill for an hour & a half. This helped me start the day with a clear mind and know that a goal I had set was already accomplished. This helped me keep going, started my day off with energy. #122edchat
A1: This year I have wondered how I have kept myself going because it was a really tough year for everyone in my building and I stayed up. I think a lot for me this year was connecting on Twitter. It really has helped my life in so many ways. #122edchat
A1 Discovering so many new #edtech tools has really invigorated my teaching this year. I have successfully learned at least 4 new tools this year. #122edchat

#122edchat A1-It's a marathon, not a sprint. You can't let a single bad day derail you. You can't let a single bad encounter derail you. Have a vision and stick with it. 180 days is a long time enough to change lives for sure.
A1: I'm not gonna lie, I lived on large quantities of coffee!!!
When my stress level is at it's limit, I usually head to @WaltDisneyWorld (I am a former cast member and so now I have annual passes - it is my happy place!) #122edchat became my rock for weekly chats!
So glad that you could make it tonight, Alicia! Hopefully this will not be the last #122edchat for you. :) There is a money back guarantee...ask @megan_hacholski for details.
A1: Lists & prioritizing helps me stay focused when there’s so much going on! I worked hard to accomplish things during the week & then spent the weekends relaxing & recharging! It’s about having balance to keep going strong! #122edchat
A1: One way I kept my myself going was to recognize the wonderful accomplishments of our students and staff and celebrate along the way. Many moments to be celebrated from this past year. #122edchat
A1: One way I kept my myself going was to recognize the wonderful accomplishments of our students and staff and celebrate along the way. Many moments to be celebrated from this past year. #122edchat
I am going to miss the relationships that we have worked to build the past 9 months. I guess this a great opportunity to pour into the most important people at home. #122edchat
A2: I balanced my work/life by designating time for myself. Although I spent my time on Twitter, it still gave me the time to be mentally refreshed for the day ahead. Teaching is our passion, but it is okay for us to take a break sometimes. We should not feel guilty. #122edchat
A2: I try to work on preschool work after my own kids are in bed. Also...they really are not all that separated! I take turns bringing my kids to school with me on their days off! They adore my preschoolers and vise versa. We even go to their activities together! #122edchat
A2: Answered in Q1! But more specifically, I learned not to feel guilty about taking time for myself. Watching a TV show, exercising or reading a book....it's okay to take care of myself, and VERY necessary! #122edchat
A1: Finding Twitter and amazing kinder teachers like @lauriesmcintosh and @EMercedLearning helped me see outside of my four walls (along with MANY others on Twitter!!!) #122edchat
Better late than never... Allison from Rockwall, TX, will be energizing myself by spending time on Lake Ray Hubbard enjoying lake life... and enjoying my son's summer lacrosse season! #122edchat
A2: My family gave me space to run amok and get myself into and out of troubles. When things got out of control, my safety, @katie_abramczyk, stopped things and helped to bring me back to center. Thankful for her help. #122edchat
A2: Balance comes from family and trusted friends. They let me know when I really need to unplug. The gym, riding my motorcycle, hunting, and hiking all help as well.
#122edchat
A2: It took some practice. I still had days where it wasn’t balanced that well. I used every second of my plan time productively. I arrived early so I could leave on time. I left on time & left work at work as much as I could. Once home, I focused on family. #122edchat
A2 work...life? work=life and life=work? hahahaha
Kidding aside, I made the conscious effort that when the clock hits 4pm, work takes a back seat and life begins. Dates with my fiancee or going out with friends. Saturday's are devoted to personal time. #122edchat
A2: I find balance by setting boundaries and sticking to those boundaries. When it is time to stop working, I stop working and take care of myself. #122edchat
A2: I did fairly well with setting time limits on when I did work at home. However, there is a lot of work for improvement here. As an English teacher, it is difficult not to spend a lot of time at home grading. #122edchat
A2: Tough to say balance. I believe that I have been called to teaching. My dad is a preacher and to slightly alter a quote on his desk, "Teaching is not just my livelihood, it's my life." Teaching is woven in to the fabric of my being. #122edchat

Hi this is David from Covina, CA. Happy to join in. I will finish writing a book I’m working on and spend time poolside with family. Also some small trips w/ each child for one on one time. #122edchat
Robyn jumping in from AK! I will be reading, listening to podcasts, blogging and more! I'm doing that right now @JayBilly2 podcast! Reading Lead with Culture and Lost at School! I'm pumped! #122edchat
Welcome to #122edchat hosted by @Samuel_Wallace2 and I. Please tell us your name, where you are from, and one way that you will be re-energizing yourself this summer.
A2 I'll fully admit, I struggle with balance. Bad. I am emailing students/parents late into the nigh & weekend, I bring lots home, and I thrive on being productive. However, I need to take time to reflect and be with my family as well. #122edchat
A1 Phew! I could have been better. Sometimes when I’m stressed I shut down. One thing that’s helped us starting a workout routine in April. 5 days a week, no excuses. I feel so much better. #122edchat
#122edchat A2-I have two toddlers, Age 2 and 4. Every ounce of my time outside of school is dedicated to them. It has taken a decade of teaching, but I only do work at school now. Not matter how long I have to stay, I only do the work at work. This means being really efficient.
I am still def a work in progress. I focused this year on tools that help with formative assessment review. Next year I want to increase collaboration #122edchat
A2: Tough to say balance. I believe that I have been called to teaching. My dad is a preacher and to slightly alter a quote on his desk, "Teaching is not just my livelihood, it's my life." Teaching is woven in to the fabric of my being. #122edchat
A2: I put school aside at home when my kids are awake and put my home life away when my ss are there! I work through my lunch on my home or school to do list. #122edchat
A2: I try to provide a lot of feedback at school and keep my grading at school. It worked out well this year. I participate in edchats and do minor planning after my daughter goes to bed. #122edchat
So important! I would argue we need to let them know that we do or we risk losing credibility as adults they can relate to and hope to become. #122edchat
A2
Be sure to schedule personal and family time. Prioritize and organize.
Put it away and make the most of the family/self time you have. Give it your undivided attention, whichever part you spending time.
#122edchat
A2- I struggle w/ this so much, but I've made a conscious effort this year to push work stuff aside to take care of me. I've gotten better, but still need more work. #122edchat
A2. Learning to keep a schedule for activities with family members/kids and different schedules in household to have family meals and spend time together. Balance is hard , but impotant! #122edchat
A2: honestly I do not balance work/life very well. I go in early and stay late, and bring work home. My daughter came to teacher work days w/me (and sometimes hubby and Mom did too). I need to work on this. I need to work on self care. #122edchat
I love this, John. One of the teachers and many of the students remarked one day how easily distracted that I can be by notifications on my watch. I was ashamed. I might need to do this so I don't miss family time this summer. #122edchat
A3: This summer, I plan on recharging by going on Twitter, reading some PD books, going on a brief vacation with my family, and taking some time for myself. We all deserve a break! #122edchat
A2: I tried to maximize my time at school to accomplish as much as possible so I didn’t have to bring things home! Work smarter, not harder! Used my time away from school to focus on me & my family! Prioritized things & was careful what I committed to! #122edchat
A3: I get energized by learning with passionate educators who think learning is fun. So for me, I will recharge by rocking an awesome book study on #BoldSchool w/ @travislape - already so many great people in the class... #122edchat
It truly is balance. Making sure you leave work at a reasonable time, make sure that you are meeting deadlines! Both are important. All of my children are grown, so it's easy for me to work 24/7. I have to remember to relax to keep positive #122edchat
A3: Studying #Culturize with you good folks, hopefully. :) Maintaining a busy chat schedule and speaking at/visiting conferences. Mix in a little daily running and baseball...yeah, that should be good. Oh, yes, and some @netflix. #122edchat
It's been a weird year. Not using preps well. Colleague facilitates study hall in my room three days per week, & uses my room for her prep the other two days... Should have been better with time. Oops! As for next year, new school and new grade. Hope 2b prudent. #122edchat

Welcome to #122edchat hosted by @Samuel_Wallace2 and I. Please tell us your name, where you are from, and one way that you will be re-energizing yourself this summer.
A3: family time at the zoo, parks, and museums around Cincy. We went to th children’s museum a few days ago - I have never been there and it was Awesome. My daughter had a blast! I like to spend my other time reading with a new lineup of books ready to go. #122edchat
A3: I'm going to kick off summer by heading to the #aplit reading, then meet up with my 17 year old daughter (who's been in Germany for a YEAR) and husband in Boston, and look at some colleges back East #122edchat
A3: So many things! Top thing will be @LBStrunk and I bingewatching Supergirl, Arrow, and Flash on Netflix! We look forward to those shows getting released on Netflix all year! Also excited to read and write too! #122edchat
A2: That is a tricky one. I’m getting my daughter’s haircut right now and tweeting from a chair in the salon 💇 I am trying to get better at realizing what can wait #122edchat
A2 - I empowered students to take charge of their education. From projects they did, to their own personal reflection, it was a huge burden off of my shoulders. I still provide meaningful feedback, but they also share in the process. #122edchat
A3: I look forward to lots of back yard time with my daughter and hubs, going to Atlanta for #Picademy, Going to the @connecting4cs conference NEXT WEEK, connecting w/more twitterers :), reflecting and revamping next years curriculum, and spending some time in the gym. #122edchat
A3b: I'm also a music nut, so I will be cranking up Pandora in my living room and dancing like a fool... mostly because I can. My daughters and I love dance parties! #122edchat
A2: I have a color coded calendar 🙂. In addition to teaching and my many smaller “jobs”, my daughters are very active in dance and soccer, too, so we are always running around. I make sure we have time to just chill and laugh, too! #122edchat
Meredith Johnson? Hey now! Glad that you are here tweeting along with #122edchat! Saw you last night in #teachermyth tweeting out some gems. Thanks for being here.
A2: When I am at school, I give 100%. When I am at home, my family has 100% of my undivided attention. No matter where I am or who I am with, I do my best to be present. #122edchat

A3 I plan on spending a lot of time outside gardening and enjoying Mother Nature. Also plan on doing some reading, I have a few books I'm looking forward too. #122edchat
A3
Spend as much time with my family as I can. Got some beach weekends scheduled. Registered for a basketball league and continue Crossfit.
Staying active and outside.
Continue growing professionally with some book studies and collaboration lunches (Taco Tuesdays!)
#122edchat
I only keep notifications on my messenger app and it has made a huge difference! I try to put my phone in the other room when I get home and when I am at dinner! #122edchat#ItCanWait
Hi #122edchat
Cathy fr Alberta in Canada. Thank you to our ldrs tonight! I am a Specialist this yr, what, I believe, would be considered a TOSA in the US. A1: For the first time not having my own classroom, I am motivated whenever I think about the Ss whose Ts I support.
A3 I have the summer “off” for the first time in years. AKA Instead of 40 hours weeks at summer camp I’m going to “grind” and get my Masters done ‼️💯 #122edchat
A3. Helping educators is my passion! When they take time out of their busy lives to thank me and show support for #BookCampPD I am over the moon. I will be beyond "charged" - I will be in overdrive guiding summer professional learning during FAR - Friends and Reading #122edchat
I've already started my sumer reading (and catching up on those I purchased and haven't read). I'm excited to go to the #PrincipalConference this year! It's going to be amazing! 1st time! #122edchat
Absolutely! I've had people say that calling our profession a "calling" de-professionalizing us. I couldn't disagree more. If anything it shows our desire to invest in the lives of others and work tirelessly for a future than is brighter than present darknesses. #122edchat
#122edchat A3-Recharging my batteries this summer-spending time by the pool with the kids and training for my first triathlon. Also, going to the beach and kayaking!
A1) Joining from CA, we still have a few weeks of school but my growing PLN has provided an enjoyable outlet and building close friendships at work. When you like each other, you even hangout on the weekend! #122edchat
A3 I know it sounds weird, but PD re-energizes me. I am so excited to have been selected to do a workshop with the Missile Defense Agency in July! #122edchat
Hey Vanessa's kid! My daughter asked me tonight if you could say anything on Twitter. My response, "Yes. But that doesn't mean that you should." Same advice for you on your mom's Twitter account. #122edchat
A2: I balance work/ life by remembering that the work will be there tomorrow... The moments with my family are precious and irreplaceable! I also remember that if one is off, so is the other. #122edchat
A2: Tough to say balance. I believe that I have been called to teaching. My dad is a preacher and to slightly alter a quote on his desk, "Teaching is not just my livelihood, it's my life." Teaching is woven in to the fabric of my being. #122edchat
A3. This summer, I plan on recharging by attending a conference, taking a few trips, reading books, twitter chats, leaving footprintsall over town, visiting with my family and friends, spending time with my family! #122edchat
A3 I know it sounds weird, but PD re-energizes me. I am so excited to have been selected to do a workshop with the Missile Defense Agency in July! #122edchat
A4 work with teachers, share my expertise in inquiry learning and tech integration. Fulfill the other 2 As of being an ADE: advocate and advisor #122edchat
A4: School-wide #PBL on history. Decided I wanted to try this because my Ss want more history. Driving Question: Does history really repeat itself? #122edchat
A4: As a soon to be 1st year teacher, my goal is to have a successful year while continuing #newteachertribe. I also plan on incorporating growth mindset and doing a unit with @thegridmethod. #122edchat
A4: To get the classroom next to me, "Betas" (4-yos) to use @RemindHQ. Game changer for our "Alpha" class and staying connected with the parents! #122edchat
A4: My number one goal for the upcoming school year is to relax into my new position and maintain realistic expectations for myself to avoid getting too stressed out. I hope to make some good connections with new colleagues and enjoy my new students! #122edchat
A4: This year I am teaching both math and science (super excited for the new challenge). I want to do better at asking deeper questions and getting my students to dive into the content. I also want to continue to #makeitreal for my kids. #122edchat
A3. Helping educators is my passion! When they take time out of their busy lives to thank me and show support for #BookCampPD I am over the moon. I will be beyond "charged" - I will be in overdrive guiding summer professional learning during FAR - Friends and Reading #122edchat
I agree with this wholeheartedly. We need to be fully present in whatever we choose to do and not feel guilty about the choices we make. #EasierSaidThanDone#122edchat
A3: I’m doing a lot of traveling!! I love going to new places & connecting w/ amazing people! Went to NJ last week and leave for TX next weekend! CA & MN are also on my list of places to go this summer! #122edchat
#122edchat A4-My goal for next school year is to not teach in front of the room AT ALL! I have started teaching only through self paced playlists, video, and @goformative. I want my students to own their own learning from day one with a #growthmindset.
A3: Spend time revamping my curriculum & teaching strategies, but also taking advantage of my off time. I'm attending several conferences, teaching a course w/ @AlisonGunnerELA, and running a dance camp at school. I need to make sure I leave myself time to recharge. #122edchat
Yessss... This school year I just couldn't sleep more than 5 hours at a time. That was weird for me. I am going to have to get better practice this summer. #122edchat
A4: Be intentional. Reading #BoldSchool has me thinking about my weaknesses as an educator. I want to plan. be thoughtful. be selective.I'm moving classrooms, getting some flexible seating & students have 1:1 laptops all 3 grades for 1st time ever.. #122edchat
A3: I plan on relaxing, reading some @dbc_inc books, reconnecting with friends, reminding my family how important they are to me (everything I do is for them) #122edchat
A3: I really would like to get back into my fitness routine and clear some clutter out of the house. I also love having a few sleep in days, especially when it rains.#122edchat
A4: I just found out today that I've been accepted into the Google Certified Innovator program (#lax18). That will become a big part of next year for me as well as helping all those around me as much as possible!
#122edchat
A4: Writing. Need to find a space to share my thoughts. For now, it might just be on a sweat-stained scrap of paper after a run, but many thoughts are brewing in my bald head. Standby. :) #122edchat
A4 We are moving into Middle School block scheduling. I am looking forward to this. I am planning a @Flipgrid History unit with @MrPStrunk which I am stoked about! #122edchat
I am definitely going to share what I read with staff (I just need to find a quick and easy way to do it). I'm already excited and we just ended school last week! #122edchat
A4: I just found out today that I've been accepted into the Google Certified Innovator program (#lax18). That will become a big part of next year for me as well as helping all those around me as much as possible!
#122edchat
A4 I am working on creating a professional development conference for pre-service teachers! I would love to provide a supportive network for brand new teachers as they enter their classroom for the 1st time and realize how important lifelong learning is! #122edchat
A3: hubby always plans vacation - ironically after working at Disney, planning vaca is just not my thing. Wherever we end up going, I know I will recharge. I do know I will *hopefully* get to visit a couple PLN members while on vaca ☺️😀🙃 #122edchat
A3: For the first time in 7 years, I get me time. I’m going on a professional trip to present and learn, but I’m going by myself. I haven’t had time to myself in so long that I’m not sure what I’ll do. #122edchat
I tend to go to bed super late and wake up mid-morning during the summer! It is awful to break the habit when school starts back, but it's soooo worth it! #122edchat
A4: One goal I have is to help teachers develop effective ways to facilitate meaningful discussions in their classrooms. I’m excited to experiment with a variety of ways to help teachers make that happen. I want to get kids talking with each other! #122edchat
A4: Be intentional. Reading #BoldSchool has me thinking about my weaknesses as an educator. I want to plan. be thoughtful. be selective.I'm moving classrooms, getting some flexible seating & students have 1:1 laptops all 3 grades for 1st time ever.. #122edchat
She’s 3! Our summer plans include lots of occupational and speech therapy! We have so much fun with her sensory play :) We might go to Pigeon Forge, TN for a few days. Our big vacay is in December. We love cruises— so much cheaper in the Fall. #122edchat
A4 Making the most out of this transition year.
Moving from the primary years to IBDP. Working as a primary years teacher while doing DP Coordinator roles.
I am a teacher shared between two departments #122edchat
A4b I am also looking forward to implementing Economics lessons while using the backdrop of US History to provide clarity to a subject matter that is often new & a bit puzzling to students! #Economics#122edchat
A1: I took myself offline for an hour or two each day, and crocheted. I find that doing that helps center my thoughts and keeps me calm regardless of how much I have on my plate. #122edchat
A4: Goals for next year - improving as a leader for my team so I can help them more, trying @Socrative with students, finding new engaging writing activities. #122edchat
I'm excited to see how much science is in the math I'm teaching now with the ebook we adopted. The Ss aren't having to try to figure out which math "belongs" in science and which "belongs" in math. #122edchat
A4
Scheduling adjustments. Looking to rearrange and try some new things to help Ts have more time for collaborative planning providing more engaging lessons and better use of the time we have with students.
#122edchat
A4: my main goal is focusing on doing a better job at focusing on m classroom environment to create a small learning community and better student centered environment. #122edchat
A4: Might be #tosoon to think about it, because I still have a week and 1/2 to go til summer, but I definitely want to add more choice writing to my classroom #122edchat
Nope, just transitioning into something new :) New district, new position. I'll be board approved in a couple weeks and then can share more! #122edchat
A5: My best advice is to allow yourself grace. There is no sense in beating yourself up after a rough day - they are going to happen. Just move into the next day with a fresh perspective & remind yourself of your "why." #122edchat
Q5: What is some advice that you have so that teachers can maintain their energy throughout the year and not burn out? What has worked for you? #122edchat
A4: My goal for the upcoming school year is to #TeachBetter by using more and approrpriate tech with my Ss, working to support a stronger school culture, and work on finding myself. #122edchat
I'm teaching Geometry for the first time next yr. I've taught Calc before, but never Geo. I'm depth-perception challenged...can't park my car between two parallel lines. So, I'm having to learn a lot. #122edchat
A5 when you feel like you're burning out, don't ignore it. Stop what you're doing, go out, and have the whole day for yourself. Your mental wellbeing is more important. #122edchat
A2: There's a lot of hours in a day, and I just make time for the things that are most important. Work is a part of life and doing it efficiently and making it enjoyable helps to not stress me out. #122edchat
A5: You have to be able to say no and to say yes...to you. It is ok to take a mental health day when needed. Yoga, running and adult beverages also work. #122edchat
A5: Get involved with your parents and the community. Once you have built a rapport, you will have accountability and can continue to be your best! #122edchat
A5: I would recommend that teachers find an uplifting PLN that has their back at all times. It can be hard to stay motivated at all times, but you need to find something that re-energizes you and reminds you of your why. #122edchat
Q5: What is some advice that you have so that teachers can maintain their energy throughout the year and not burn out? What has worked for you? #122edchat
A4; Stick to a routine each day. I don't really like routine, so I have to be very intentional with this. Especially when I am stressed, I tend to scrap the routine . #122edchat
Q5: What is some advice that you have so that teachers can maintain their energy throughout the year and not burn out? What has worked for you? #122edchat
A5: Twitter chats. Oh, wait. I already said that. But it’s true... talking with people who inspire me to follow through with my crazy ideas has been the best thing for me... #122edchat
A5: Make sure you pencil some time in for your mental health! Twitter is addictive, but keep in mind what really matters.
However, never forget that being a connective educator is SO MUCH EASIER. We are better together :)
#122edchat
Q5: What is some advice that you have so that teachers can maintain their energy throughout the year and not burn out? What has worked for you? #122edchat
#122edchat A5-Just know that the school year has ups and downs. Know that children have ups and downs. Know that they are looking for someone with emotional consistency and they need a LEADER to help them through it all.
A5: Don't buy into the countdown hype. Don't countdown to holiday break or summer. Don't say "everyone's crabby in March" or whatev. Choose to be positive & grateful and expect that of others. Let's get rid of these ideas that school is miserable, they drain our energy #122edchat
So essential. Being able to say "yes" and "no" when necessary. I started using Google Keep to help me honor commitments and stay on task during the weekends, too. #122edchat
Thank you for joining #122edchat tonight. @Samuel_Wallace2 and I had a pleasure connecting with all of you. Please follow these amazing members of this PLN if you have not already.
A5: In a word, BALANCE. Too often we feel that we need to be all things to all people, and that we need to be at every chat, or else society will cease to exist. FALSE! Take time for you. Leave school early. Watch a show. Go for a bike ride. We'll be here next week. #122edchat
Sorry if I did not like your tweet. It was hard to stay on top of it tonight because of all the awesomeness all of you shared. I will catch up later tonight. #122edchat
Self care is important. I watched a video by @princeea about, are you working to live or living to work? It was an eye opener, for sure. Check it out to keep balance! https://t.co/epkngz5uQY#122edchat
A4: SO many goals. I’d like to grow through research. I’m in a masters program and I am completing a change proposal & a large project, both which require lots of research. Another goal is to try new methods of teaching, such as teaching ESL online, on the side.#122edchat
A5. During my 40 years, one of my strategies was to take 20 minutes away from the building for lunch after all of the students had eaten and the rush of challenging recess situations calmed down. Working from 7 to 6 each day - this helped! #122edchat
As much as Ss tend to openly dislike routine, I feel there's a way to keep it fresh. Plus, they like to know what's coming! No one likes unexpected (negative) surprises! #122edchat
#122edchat Uninterrupted reading, preferably on a beach whenever possible. Also very much enjoying having one of my two grown children home for the four months of summer vacation from Uni. So great!
A5: I am kind of giving this advice to myself as I tweet it here for others too. It is okay to say "No" sometimes. I feel like I have been doing a lot of pouring this year and my cup is dry. Need to make sure I am saving some for those I love and hold dear. #122edchat
One thing that's helped me so, so much is connecting with other positive educators - here on Twitter - it's not that we never have problems or complain, but our conversations almost always seen solution-driven #122edchat

A4: I have a ton. Improve parent comm. Make a list of concepts for each stand. That I can check off. Improve my stations for the second half of the year. Create at least 2 more @breakoutEDU#122edchat
A5: I am kind of giving this advice to myself as I tweet it here for others too. It is okay to say "No" sometimes. I feel like I have been doing a lot of pouring this year and my cup is dry. Need to make sure I am saving some for those I love and hold dear. #122edchat
a4.Our pupils forget most of what we teach them. They will however remember us their teachers forever.Lets be good and kind to them.A kind word can last a lifetime #122edchat
A5: stay positive - even on days you feel like you’re in the wrong profession and want a business degree; focus on 3 positives. It helps to blog about it. #122edchat
A3: Going on a trip, speaking in a summit, and interacting with teachers from other countries. Oh and there's #GoogleEI energizer. That should recharge me some.#122edchat
A5: Remember you're only human & Rome wasn't built in a day. Prioritize your life; don't put yourself on the bottom. Self-care is just as important as everything else. #122edchat
A5: Finish at work as often as possible, better yet, make it possible by knowing when quitting time is for you. Pick a time and stick to it. If you work over the weekend, schedule the time and then pack it up when time is up. #122edchat
Q5: What is some advice that you have so that teachers can maintain their energy throughout the year and not burn out? What has worked for you? #122edchat
A5 Don't be afraid to put time into activities outside the classroom. Find a hobby and stick with it. It will keep you grounded & give purpose to your days (especially your long days). Also, find a tribe & latch on; don't do this alone! #newteachertribe#122edchat
A5: Look at things from a positive, growth perspective. It is so easy to get caught up in the negative or take things personally. Just do your thing, do what’s best for the students, and keep growing. #122edchat
A5: We have soooo many tools that can give us great data and give students faster feedback. Why not use them more effectively & take back our own time we spend grading papers? #122edchat
A4: I want to improve my lesson planning with my summer reading & summer PD. I want year 2 to include more (meaningful) tech and more #globalcollaboration. I want to feel more confident in my abilities. I want to not work so much at home on weekends! #122edchat
Q5: What is some advice that you have so that teachers can maintain their energy throughout the year and not burn out? What has worked for you? #122edchat
We're probably not helping you out by running #122edchat during the dinner hour on the West Coast. My apologies Family Platt. Send all your disgruntled DMs to @megan_hacholski. :D

a5 Learning is energizing for me. I like keeping up with what is happening outside my classroom, going to conferences, reading the ed news, checking out research #122edchat
A4: To continue helping my colleagues and myself grow. I will keep sharing my love for empowering students, maintaining a growth mindset, and helping to add to the positive culture in our building. I want to incorporate more technology into my modeled lessons #122edchat
A5 If you are always fighting against the current, you will exhaust yourself. Sometimes you have to go with the flow, and let the kids take the lead #122edchat
Q5: What is some advice that you have so that teachers can maintain their energy throughout the year and not burn out? What has worked for you? #122edchat
Shelly Andrews from the beautiful Winchester, VA! One way I will recharge myself this summer: actual lunch breaks, not just eating while standing up supervising the cafeteria. #122edchat
Welcome to #122edchat hosted by @Samuel_Wallace2 and I. Please tell us your name, where you are from, and one way that you will be re-energizing yourself this summer.
Thanks to everyone who came out to #122edchat tonight to hang out w/ @MsJachymiak and me! She's a fantastic partner in crime & I could not be more proud to call her my friend & colleague! Give her a follow; she's doing amazing work! #newteachertribe
A5: I burnt out when I stayed until 12am every day, even on wkends. It won’t all get done. Prioritize. Then leave on time or close to it. Enjoy your life outside of work genuinely. Come in a little early & use the time you have. Then leave & let it go for the night. #122edchat
Thanks for a great #122edchat Chat!!! Thanks to our wonderful guest hosts and regular hosts! This (Tribe) in one of the most amazing tribes in education!

A5~strike a balance with work & home & remember to take care of yourself daily w/whatever makes you the best version of yourself ...share your gifts w/others & stay away from negativity~don’t engage or give it a 2nd thought ...positivity trumps everything 😊 #122edchat
Q5: What is some advice that you have so that teachers can maintain their energy throughout the year and not burn out? What has worked for you? #122edchat
I think the idea of engaging - communicating is saturating the entire ed environment. Everything is pushing toward the 6 C's (was 4C's before). #122edchat
Thanks to everyone who came out to #122edchat tonight to hang out w/ @MsJachymiak and me! She's a fantastic partner in crime & I could not be more proud to call her my friend & colleague! Give her a follow; she's doing amazing work! #newteachertribe
A5: Find your #teachertribe! Surround yourself with people who will motivate, encourage, inspire, hold you accountable, challenge you, help you grow! #122edchat.
I wrote a blog about finding your teacher tribe.
https://t.co/QGZu4FSZha
A5: collaborate, collaborate, collaborate! Collaborate w/in your school and do #globalcollaborations. When the students are more engaged from an exciting collaborative lesson it refreshes your belief in yourself as a teacher! Re-believing in me is key! #122edchat
Q5: What is some advice that you have so that teachers can maintain their energy throughout the year and not burn out? What has worked for you? #122edchat
#122edchat a1 Keeping going is often compartmentalizing; the old eat it one bite at a time. However, if you've been handed 12 elephants maybe it is time to reconsider the job! #aussieed#philosophy of working
A2 Making sure that I take time to take care of myself physically and mentally-exercise, time with family, laughs with friends. I make prioritized lists of what needs to be done, and reshuffle them accordingly. I make sure to schedule time to "do nothing" #122edchat
In an age of smart phones, twitter, etc, kids still need to learn how to interact with each other face-to-face. The 6 C's are definitely an important part of that. #122edchat
A5 - Here is a list that I honestly try to teach by.
1. Always remember your teaching people that truly need your help.
2. Bring energy and enthusiasm to the class. It’s pays off!
3. Focus on little things, instead of one giant task.
4. Reflect often! #122edchat
Have set times for work and take a break before you get tired. It can be anything: chat with your students, starting a hobby, trying a new tool in class, etc Keep the spark alive by feeding it with positive actions! #122edchat
A5: My advice is to...say no. Say no to committees and “extras” that don’t energize you, push you forward or just add more “stuff” to do. An overflowing plate can be fine...if it’s filled with things you love. #122edchat
#122edchat A5: As great as our ideas for S tasks are, they are not the only way go. Think/ask others how you can adapt S tasks so Ss do more. Better for their learning and less for Ts to do. Hattie's Visible Learning, self- and peer-assessment etc so helpful for this.
#122edchat a2 There is nothing wrong with loving your work and feeling it is your life. Hello, we are all here doing Teacherchat in our own time. Yet, if the job feels like it is not life, then are you present in the moment or just surviving. It is a philosophical balance act.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Don’t. Be. Afraid. To. Ask. For. ANY. Help. Even if it’s to ask for help with your anxiety and stress load. Connect with someone & be brave. Ask for their help. We all need help sometimes! #122edchat
A3 recharging by using the time for reflection and strategic planning so as to better coordinate the instructional programme; recharging also by spending time unwinding at the beaches of the Outer Banks #122edchat
Thank you for setting up the opportunity for us to build our PLN. Hopefully, times can be set up to share ideas as we get closer to the beginning of next school year! #122edchat
A3)Change of pace as I’ll be summertime stay at home mom with my baby, reading for pleasure, and consistent yoga practice. Tweeting this out to hold myself accountable. #122edchat
A5) Best advice is stay true to you and why you do what you do. If you chase the latest fads and try to please everyone you will burn out from burning the flame at both ends. #122edchat
A5
You are the average of those you surround yourself with. Find mentors and colleagues you can be motivated with and hold each other accountable. Everyone will have their down times, surround yourself with those that will help pick you back up.
#122edchat
Q5: What is some advice that you have so that teachers can maintain their energy throughout the year and not burn out? What has worked for you? #122edchat
I decided to take a risk, and I founded a new chat called #newteachertribe. The inaugural chat is this Sunday at 8 pm. Please join in if you can. Thank you! #122edchat
A5: Get a small team of support. Make sure you give yourself 30 minutes a day of #SelfCare to keep you emotionally & physically healthy. #122edchat#BetterTogether
2) I make sure my needs: running, reflecting, reading, and writing all happen each day before work. It means a 4am wake up, but if I put any of them off, they never happen. #122edchat
The inaugural #NewTeacherTribe chat will be this Sunday (6/3) at 8 pm CST. This chat will be 30 minutes, and the topic will be re-energizing during the summer. Please join in if you can, and retweet to spread the word. Thank you!
A5 gravitate toward the positive people and those who will reciprocate collaboration and sharing; be sure to remain reflective throughout the year #122edchat
Q5: What is some advice that you have so that teachers can maintain their energy throughout the year and not burn out? What has worked for you? #122edchat
I agree! My people are flipping amazing! But it really is all about them finding their tribe. I love when our tribes overlap! It's pretty incredible. #122edchat
#122edchat a4 Taking time out to challenge brain with #TESOL#ESOL study gave me a boost for taking on #Math, #Deaf ed, you name it again. So I will look for a right fit school for me. Stepping to one side is really a recharge for the brain and soul.
A5: Don't take what you do for granted. You have the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of students. Enjoy every day that you spend with them. Treasure the "lightbulb" moments and spend time in reflection during the "difficult" ones. Be present. #122edchat
#122edchat a5 Seconding @mexusmx who probably still achieves way more in a day than I do in a week. Time for yourself is time recharging. You can't be there for others if you don't be there for yourself first. But you do have to commit to recharging, no procrastinating.

#122edchat Mine's waiting patiently on my Kindle. Not done work until June 29th (Sigh) but hope to start before then. How are you otherwise? I think that I have made it to the chat 2 Wednesdays in a row. Yay me!!
Sorry I missed it tonight.
The girls made a summer list and tonight was Party Night which included @GoNoodle , sparklers, and fireflies
Love you guys #122edchat@MsJachymiak
Sorry I missed it tonight... spending some time with my daughter who has to take her math SOL tomorrow and she is nervous! Some reading and snuggles to remind her she is #morethanatestscore! #122edchat
A3 I plan to spend lots of time outside! Sunshine, nature, and time with family and friends will have me recharged and ready! Going to dig in to a few great book studies poolside as well! #122edchat
I’m so thankful, Michael, to have you as such a valuable #PLN and friend!! It truly takes a village of all together. One thing remains: our goal to ALWAYS do what’s best for kids! #kidsdeserveit#122edchat#TLAP#TeachBetter#BeTheOne
