Good evening #Physed world! Welcome to another edition of #ESPEChat with yours truly as your moderator tonight! Who is out there on the interweb joining the chat about Storage Hacks tonight??
Man, that is exciting. Nothing better for a #physed teacher than more storage for more stuff! It's like we are organized or something...sometimes... #ESPEChat
A1 It’s organized. Coming from a K-6 where I had to organize chaos, I knew exactly where everything was. Now at the ms I still feel like I need to ask where some equipment is #ESPEchat
A2: I have a "ball shed" that I have all of my equipment in. There are large open cupboards along the three walls. Hula hoops hanging from beams over head. The center part is where we keep the 5 wagons we use for daily classes. #espechat
A2 I have two storage rooms with multiple metal shelves. One room is all Field Day equipment. Daily equipment stored alphabetically on shelves. Thanks to my blessed assistant! She doesn’t allow me in there some days😂 #espechat
A2: I found milk crates to be my saving grace. I have about three (going on four) "towers" in my equipment room (office/equipment closet more so) with various equipment #ESPEChat
A2: I try to move stuff where it makes the most sense outside only equipment in my outside closet, multipurpose my office/room, tumbling under stage, winter stuff my shed and cabinets in the MPR #espechat
A2: Storage room is made up some things that get daily use and others that may be used for specific units. The problem is one of the two PE teachers in my building belongs on the show hoarders 👀
#espechat
A2) I mean. . . It's a work in progress!🤦🏽♀️ #espechat I think I'm here for the comic relief tonight! 🤭 I can't wait to see the finished storage rooms of our PE teachers tonight!
A2 Hey all! Sorry I'm late. I have shelves, boxes, ball cages, trash cans, hooks on the walls...about anything I can use. Most everything is labeled if possible. #espechat
A2 To make it simple we have 4 closets with shelving on one side, shelving on the other side with equipment in ball bags, a couple of trash cans with assorted equiopment, a container with seasonal equipment #ESPEchat
a2 I have two closets that are 2 ft deep on my side of the gym, and two more on the other side of the gym. some parts have shelves. I also use some locker room space. 😬 #espechat
We have renters who had their stuff packed away in a corner, but not always put away. So if someone doesn't have the organizing skills or the putting away when you're done skills, it's a little much #ESPEChat
Anyone else try to ignore/not see the warning on the side of milk crates about not using them if you are not apart of their company or whatever? #espechat ps Ive asked the milk man if I could have them first.
They’re the best! Sorted my fluff yarn balls, dice, wiffle balls, etc. I was a maniac! It also helped I had a PE classroom to store it all in #ESPEchat
I've use them mainly for pinnies, but also for relays, mixing & matching equipment, stations, it's the best multiple $1 item a #physed teacher can buy! #ESPEChat
A2c ALSO used the chunky thumbtacks to organize my jump ropes because I COULD NOT life with tangled jump ropes and ss who borrowed them at lunch #ESPEchat
In the past Ive outline my floor too. This year I outlined safety spots in my closet for students to sit in case of a lockdown. Need to make sure its well organized so that we can all fit. #espechat
What does such thing even look like?! I got use to those thumbtacks real quick and then I knew exactly how many jump ropes I had on each tack lol #ESPEchat
I learned how to organize ropes into a 5 gallon bucket without them getting tangled but you have to make sure it's done correctly. Ss like to throw in the rope and it makes it impossible. Must wrap the rope! #ESPEchat
A3. I want a net storage system on an automatic wench system to store fitness balls in the open ceiling or a small computer cart for the technology. #espechat
A3 To be honest, I wish I had a mini roll out cart with monster truck traction wheels, a whiteboard, some shelving, possibly the ability to hang pocket charts and the guarantee that it won’t blow over by the wind and snap in half #ESPEChat
#ESPEChat A3 I am GRATEFUL to finally have a storage room & office...I would have LOVED to have the separated. Keeping my personal stuff in one enclosed space and the epic Phys ed items in the other..that way students aren't "tempted" hehe..nonetheless--i am grateful!!
A3: Bigger. 3 years ago our school moved. Then this year I got a new gym. Lost considerable storage space. Went from ample storage to just making it work. #espechat
My dream is to have an old TV cart with monster wheels, a battery that will last 6 hours, and a big TV on the top to use for my laptop and/or video analysis... #ESPEchat
Screwed in all the parts to hold up ropes and the flag football belt hack is going to save my sanity too @MrRoosPE - crate for long skipping ropes. “Horns” will help keep ropes on @DavidEPSQC - Thanks for ideas! #physed#pegeeks
Q4: Choose one: 1) What is the one limitation your gym has your to your ideal storage/organization? OR 2) What is one positive thing your gym has that makes it ideal for organization? #ESPEChat
I just had kids throwing my badminton racquets in a cupboard and they would always get broken. This year, I had one broken racquet from K-8 - problem solved! #ESPEChat
A4: Limited space for storage. I have my equipment room/office (closet sized), a cupboard at the entrance of the gym, and another closet for not-used-often equipment #ESPEChat
A4 Mm I like thinking positive so I’d say because we are extra portable in our area it all has to go back neatly and organized after use. Nothing stays up, no 4 wall space as an extra aid for equipment such as posters, charts, etc. #ESPEchat
A4 one positive thing that we have is there is a stage area for the after school program and the adult recreation leagues to store their equipment so that it doesnt have to mix with my class materials #espechat
