Conversations and collaboration with the courage to make changes if needed.
A1: so many possible answers. Prioritize & focus on a few things at a time & do those things well rather than try too much at once.
A1 quite simply VISION. S many distractions - maintain vision

Very true Mike, accentuate the positive for growing results https://t.co/geZGxpAQB0
A1: More availability to valid and comparative data. Love learning from data. Also, only positive thoughts and a passionate focus!
Q1 not fear fall out from speaking truth
love the "inspire our Ss" part - inspiration is so impt but often something that is seen as an 'add on' or 'extra'.
A1: Share our struggles & support others with theirs to help us grow & learn - push forward
Great question!
https://t.co/la2voAETUj
Honest answer time, are you willing to lock arms and stand up against the social injustices our kids and communities face?
A1: A desire to have impact and influence…and the realization that the txt generation may grow your impact and influence 10X
A1) The 1ststep in fostering a positive school culture is defining it together as a school. Most schools don't do this first step
BAM! has many positive deviants!!! https://t.co/Iys62okfCq

need to remind myself of habits...but get big rocks in there first! Is it better to create big rocks together or separate?
Adding to it, regardless of the personal and professional risks?
Let's not just say the things that need to happen, let's discuss and take the steps that make real change happen.
I love the "learning culture" vs "grading culture" notion. SO impt. More convos/action needed on this.
A2 Resist the gravitational pull of the status quo to build a culture of learning. Do the right thing, not the easy thing.
A2: The right thing is not the easy thing - must do it anyway.
Scary to do, easier with a team. https://t.co/fsjrsefSPr
Adding to it, regardless of the personal and professional risks?
Love this. Thanks, Rodney!
A2: Be honest and trustworthy- this will cause the boat to be rocked...GOOD! That means we are getting somewhere.
We hope you always leave thinking about action steps you can take immediately! https://t.co/37Dc2wQvrM
Let's not just say the things that need to happen, let's discuss and take the steps that make real change happen.
A2 We must stand for what is right and just. The courage to stand for the greater good.
Important, for sure, but so tough.
...and not for personal gain.
Hey , it's Leslie, the Canadian in Mexico. I will probably a lot tonight. Thanks!
A2: We must fully equip our students to be both innovative and creative in a challenging world context
A2: Culture is about trust and authenticity…always doing what is right uses vulnerability as a foundation to build culture
A2 If you don't do the right thing your culture will be filled w/ distractions & negative voids. Do the right thing - build a COL.
A2 Because doing the right thing is often very hard and it is tempting to take the easy way.
A2: The right thing usually means we must go against the flow and be
A2 doing the right thing strengthens a culture and builds trust, shows learning is important
Welcome! Please tweet in when you feel the urge. https://t.co/ox0Ur7b2T4
Hey , it's Leslie, the Canadian in Mexico. I will probably a lot tonight. Thanks!
applies to teachers and students... and should spread to our culture of learning in families as well.
A2 right is always the best choice and the hardest choice, how can you make the right choice and take action in your community?
A2: right thing not always easiest or most efficient...can't think about time or money 1st
What are the risks of doing the right things? We must live by example as school leaders.
Q2 Because if we do not stand up and do the right thing and teach the children to do the right thing...the right thing gets lost.
A2: As teachers we must model the behaviors & dispostions we want Ss to have & exhibit. We must BE the person we want our Ss to BE!
A2 because usually doing the right thing means being non compliant.
A2: Every student matters. There are no "throw away kids". Doing the right thing means addressing the needs of all.
status quo
real change
https://t.co/T9CxyxkGSr
A2 Resist the gravitational pull of the status quo to build a culture of learning. Do the right thing, not the easy thing.
you'll never get a team if you don't jump in first.
Are you reading ' tweets? On fire tonight!
A2: Must establish a common vision and mission- then everyone knows what the right thing is!
A2: Our kids deserve nothing less than the best. When they're put first, doing what's right makes sense.
Absolutely https://t.co/NqInXyvbqr
A2 Because doing the right thing is often very hard and it is tempting to take the easy way.
The right thing is also not always the popular thing. :(
A2 With all the barriers s have against having a col, doing the right thing gives you/them a firm foundation.
A2: put personal agendas aside, stop negativity, do what is right by students.. Go against the grain.. Be a team with a vision
Keep the focus on the KIDS! Too many adult issues muddy a culture of learning waters! https://t.co/uMLCfr0ytl
A2: Our kids deserve nothing less than the best. When they're put first, doing what's right makes sense.
A2 Actions are all we have. Let's do the right thing for kids!
A2: The right thing is not always the easiest, but we must stay focused for S's! $$ makes this difficult
A2 doing the right thing, makes all students feel like winners because they see you care
A2: Many stakeholders count on leaders to make the right choices even though it may not be popular to some
Truth! We can't be concerned with what's popular when a COL is concerned - actually anytime! https://t.co/hKPixKFOCi
The right thing is also not always the popular thing. :(
do not marginalize students. See the gifts in all students
Goes beyond school leaders. We are all responsible for serving as positive role models for our kids https://t.co/mf8kvHGXKt
What are the risks of doing the right things? We must live by example as school leaders.
we have to remember there are no cookie cutter children. There are no cookie cutter programs to fix all
Enough said!!! https://t.co/fsZct1UxZy
A2: Our kids deserve nothing less than the best. When they're put first, doing what's right makes sense.
A2: it's impt b/c we're working w/ people! Not stats, not data, not money - people! We are impacting lives for better or worse.
A2 set a positive example for the kids by doing the right thing, it will pay off and contribute towards their success!
Including us to walk the walk and talk the talk! Love this! https://t.co/MfdgU7YG32
A2: Must establish a common vision and mission- then everyone knows what the right thing is!
A2 Modeling a Virtuous life for our students is a great gift we can give them for their future.
the risks are feeling good when you wake up the next morning.
Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase. - MLK
Thank you for joining, Michael! We miss you in the ED.S. program!
A2 a districts right thing is grounded in its mission and vision.
Someone asked what are the risks? You will be ostracized criticized and risk your career if you stand up and fight for what is right
for me it's earlier...I go to sleep knowing I've done the best I know/could that day
! https://t.co/vTgFst491K
Someone asked what are the risks? You will be ostracized criticized and risk your career if you stand up and fight for what is right
Stopping through . Noticed references to "the right thing". How is this defined (in action)? Making sure I reply appropriately.
Q3 - A3: Teacher efforts are providing appropriate challenges for student learning -
we need to stop blaming leaders and focus on basics. You can use rocks from the earth to teach math but let's focus on children.
A3: My hope is there becomes the belief that ALL children can learn and succeed no matter that background and “stuff”
A3: My hope = make a difference for kids. Students' hope = have a shot at greatness
Great question! What is "the right thing?" https://t.co/aQg4Z5R3mI
Stopping through . Noticed references to "the right thing". How is this defined (in action)? Making sure I reply appropriately.
And do it anyway...

A3 my hope is that we make a better future for kids and communities and I see ed leaders take action and be the change they desire
A3 My hope is that a COL becomes the norm in all schools.
in my district you will be celebrated
A3: My hope is that we encourage, support & inspire our Ss to greatness. Help make thier dreams come true.
A3 My hope is that our culture will focus on S learning always. This includes all staff, admin, board, parents, and community.
A3 There have been challenges in my district. I hope that my school community can come together to keep the focus on students.
A3a: My hope is that the state figures out a way to properly fund public school district again.
and sadly, many cant/wont take that risk in schools.
A3: I hope that if/when I think I'm doing 'the right thing' & later find I wasn't, I can extend grace to myself and others can too.
A2) Learning implies "the right thing" isn't always so simple. Many different opinions. One right thing: keep learning from others.
A3: My hope is to create the opportunities for all students and staff to reach their full potential.
A3 my hope, is that each unique s becomes the best version of themselves, in all areas of who they are- not just school.
A3: My hope is that students leave us prepared for whatever comes their way and knowing they are cared for and about.
A3:A day in which every student loves school, Ts are continually passionate about teaching, and every parent is our partner!
A3b: Students hope to have proper tech and opportunities to challenge themselves. Good facilities and materials
A3 seeing students set and achieve goals in and out of the classroom
A hope that all students will have a safe and secure environment so they can have the best chance to learn.
I can be there anytime to put a plan into action, let's make a difference https://t.co/WQkmtO1gDd
in my district you will be celebrated
I stopped in late. Haven't forgot about my friends
A3: My hope is to live each day as MLK did- FINDING problems and working to solve those problems to better others
Might add 'politicians' to the list of those who need to focus on learning.
So inspired by the answers to Q3! Let's each do our part to make these answers a reality.
my hope for Ss is they continue to ask why and challenge the status quo. In doing so they become leaders and enact Change
A3 my hope is each S has found, through their education, a purpose to move forward this will engage, empower and enable them.
A3: We all have one chance to leave this place better than we came into it...and that we give passionately in every way.
LYYYYNNNNNNNNNN! Our long-lost friend. Thank you for stopping by. https://t.co/DVSTg5urjK
I stopped in late. Haven't forgot about my friends
Just saw this quote in : "WE must accept finite disappointment but never lose infinite hope!" via
A3: My hope is that I never fall out of love with learning and helping students learn.
my fear is it will never come true,it seems like we have been talking 4ever about it with little progress https://t.co/6iSodtQG7k
A3 My hope is that a COL becomes the norm in all schools.
The right thing for teachers means sometimes putting students needs ahead of your own.
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. - MLK
keeping priorities in check is so impt. It's all about the Ss and it's all about the learning.
A3 my S hopes are to find a future that gives them hope and respect, and purpose, that is engaging
Start at home then it will build!! https://t.co/ys25ndwOj9

A3 My hope is that a COL becomes the norm in all schools.

Oh man! Yes, yes, yes! https://t.co/uRdwO8VRxK
A3:A day in which every student loves school, Ts are continually passionate about teaching, and every parent is our partner!
A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus. - MLK
A3 -that the understanding Ss are little humans and learning is messy at times and does not follow a timeline becomes the norm.
My hope for Ss is to help them expand their dreams & goals Help them see all the that the world has to offer Motivate them to learn
A3) The hope for my children is never to lose their love of learning. That school is a positive experience. https://t.co/LsfhiIzWnl
Ask yourself what are the injustices in today's schools? Now go have your voice be heard!
A3: Constant deficits & bonds occurring all over to survive to educate kids. Is that really what's best?
Its okay to get messy...
https://t.co/mXfrESvLid
A3 -that the understanding Ss are little humans and learning is messy at times and does not follow a timeline becomes the norm.
Unfortunately, there are billiions ($$$) of reasons why the non-school world prefers test-takers, not learners.
that's a powerful statement.
Q3 my hope is that those community members and parents remember when they are speaking publicly the children are watching
One person, one moment, one thing at a time. You never know who will be inspired by your "one thing".
AMEN! https://t.co/cBdxh7XbBl
Ask yourself what are the injustices in today's schools? Now go have your voice be heard!
Part of my dream would make that go away! https://t.co/0sV7JonfBG
Unfortunately, there are billiions ($$$) of reasons why the non-school world prefers test-takers, not learners.
...and there's nothing to lose by starting at home...even if school never adopts

Q4 - A4:The selected skills and passion you infuse into your instructional program best prepares students for future -
YES! Nurturing that love of learning is so impt! Ss need to see that in us!
A4: Be the pioneers. The world is ever changing. We need to walk in preparing our Ss with a into unknown destiny
What a dream for our schools! https://t.co/1I3F5oMG4W
A3:A day in which every student loves school, Ts are continually passionate about teaching, and every parent is our partner!
A4 To keep moving forward with - I have faith that this will empower student leadership.
A4 taking risks is the only way to improve, we don't know unless we try. In a col risk taking is celebrated and reward is learning
Henry Ford
“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.”
― Henry Ford
We will keep chipping away at changing the paradigm from valuing testing way more than learning.
A4 Faith is the foundation for courage, courage is the spring board for action, action is the catalyst for change. Do something
A4: be intentional and do something that you don't know what the end result will be but it is the right thing to do!
A4: Take a chance on trusting our instructional leaders (with PD) instead of always being focused on MEAP/M-STEP/State data
A4: Take the risk of really getting involved and in the trenches of learning to support the reinvention and reimagining of ed!
A4: Also the relationships we begin now. Later in the staircase it may be you they come back to for advice and hope.
This sounds so familiar for our district and is about keeping the focus on students. https://t.co/dg0wC1Xc4G

A4: Be a student advocate when they need a voice
Q4 there is no better time to take that first leap of faith than now. Close your eyes, bend your knees, and JUMP!
A4 taking the first step is the hardest, each one after becomes easier and more rewarding
A4 Need to risk being unpopular because you challenge the status quo.
A4: I need to pull up my sleeves and get dirty building a foundation & rolling out a program
and teach them to advocate for themselves and peers!
Be the change!

A4 Faith is the foundation for courage, courage is the spring board for action, action is the catalyst for change. Do something
A4. I need to step out of my comfort zone and try new strategies, that will benefit my Ss- even when no one else is doing it.
A4: implementing any change, large or small, requires faith that it will be worth it, even though the status quo is prob easier.
Right on! Fewer bystanders and more upstanders!
Imagine a system where leaders are valued based on their actions not on their words

A6: Stick with love; hate is too much of a burden.
Continue to break down the barriers for kids that have given up or their schools have given up on them, and thank God for the opp

Piggy backing! Keep trying to find the spark for those children who have lost their fire for learning.
How engaging for s to get involved and help another school. Good idea!
