Hi everyone - Marc Drumm, Senior Instructional Designer at West Chester University near Philadelphia, which has already announced it’s closed tomorrow! #snowday#AppleEDUchat
A1 The camera on the iPad has allowed my students to more easily explore their creativity in all subjects. It is way easier to use the iPad camera then trying to use a Chromebook camera to capture something. It’s also a bit more safer. #AppleEDUChat
A video example of a simple burst photo edit by a student. Imagine what they can do on an even wider scale when given the building blocks. #appleEDUchat
Camera app most recently has ignited my ELL student to see math around them! Objects are not just one word, they are made up of shapes and lines! #appleEDUchat
A1: I’m helping my K teacher with her summative project, students took pictures @thehenryford we placed them into Keynote, they will be using this in a presentation showing past, present and future. #AppleEDUchat
A1: I don't have a class of my own yet, but I've been able to see iPads implemented in other classrooms. I've seen students use them with a green screen app to create their own videos! #AppleEDUchat
A1) I really love doing green screen.. especially with @DoInkTweets It helps people to forget themselves and just have fun and be creative. #appleeduchat
This is going to be an adventure for sure! I'm an elementary education major at the University of Oklahoma and this is my first ever #twitterchat#appleeduchat
A1: My students now have the freedom to record their learning, either through pictures or videos. I love that they get to capture the learning happening when i’m not able to see it all. #AppleEDUChat
A1: This is my #1 resource to encourage students to use with conversations regarding photography copyrights. So many great angles you can use for photos and videos to tell stories or encourage emotion. #AppleEDUchat
A1: We just launched digital data notebooks for steam workshops. The camera is the game changer - captures thinking, helps to visualize learning, and so many opps for creating from the learning. #AppleEDUchat
A1. I am still a student, but I remember in my high school classroom using the camera app to take pictures of geometric shapes around our communities in geometry class #AppleEDUchat
A1: The Camera captures moments that may have gone unnoticed. Students can observe, mark up and record over these moments in time. In any content or subject area! #AppleEDUchat
A1: Today I saw a teacher use the camera to ensure learning didn't stop. He had the students take a picture of a solution, then create another solution. #appleeduchat
A1: In my PL, I love to provide opportunity for educators to capture math from their perspective. These pics are from one of my @tcea sessions. #AppleEDUchat
Hello #AppleEDUChat..Melissa from NM. A1: Camera feature has allowed Ss to capture their work and send along to their folks/fams thru @Seesaw. Most recently cam was used to send shots of their #sketchnotes on some background knowledge gained on the 1930's!
A1: It’s allowed for seamless anytime, anywhere access to catch those magical moments. Also to include in digital portfolios to curate evidence of learning. #AppleEduChat
It takes some time to do it, but kids are so fast and so creative! They did it on their own. My "stop messing around" turned into "woah, show me how you did that!" #AppleEDUChat
A1: I don't have a classroom of my own yet but in my fieldwork I have seen students using the camera on the iPad to photograph their work in the classroom1 #appleeduchat#GEN2108
A1 I am Liz @ColtonScience I love teaching! I teach K-6th grade science. I am also Co-Site Coordinator for Before and After School program. When I was in college I worked at museum and gave tours to schools kids in Dinosaur, Farm Country, Gardens of the museum. #AppleEDUchat
A1 - I’ve seen some great project ideas come from using the classroom iPads including scavenger hunts, before/after project pictures, and more! #appleeduchat
Using the iPad camera has allowed students to capture all sorts of things and then annotate the photos with Markup to make their thinking clearer or to make reality more imaginative #appleeduchat
A1: Camera is the base for almost everything. Creating new learning opportunities and capturing learning in new ways. Here’s the great @KJensoncreative creating some challenge based learning for her class using green screen! #AppleEDUchat
A1: Being able to capture content with the camera and use original photos with other apps like Keynote and Clips can unlock creativity and set the tone for transformation from consumption to creation. #AppleEduChat
A1: seeing what kids can and will do with time lapse and slow-mo is invigorating! Loved @kelseyemiller Ss stop-motion recordings@od their 430-word essays #AppleEDUchat
A2: I started introducing my students to photography using the ECC: Photo guide! We worked our way through some of the activities, then students took the reins and lead us further into our photography journey by dictating where they think they needed practice. #AppleEDUchat
A1: The #powerofvideo resides in all of us including the children who open the Camera app, and maybe just record a selfie video to tell the teacher their thoughts on what they are learning. Powerful tool to find out where students are and where we need to take them. #appleEDUchat
A1: Images allow students to memorialize and connect. Through photography and video in the class, important moments are real, relevant and have impact. #AppleEDUChat
A1 I primarily see it used as a way for students and faculty to communicate either synchronously or asynchronously. The creativity usually involves using apps that add elements/filters or modify the video in some way. #AppleEDUchat
A1: connecting my students and planned activities with scenes and items they're familiar with. recently, #eipt3043 used ipad cameras in partnership with @BookCreatorApp and @storycubes . Students use the feature to include personal videos and vocals #appleeduchat
What about thinking about what you could do.. ie.. taking pictures to tell the story of a community for social studies class. #appleeduchat . There are great possibilities.
A2: Students LOVED playing with the silhouettes activity! It really helped students to understand how lighting and editing can impact a picture! #AppleEDUchat
A1: the camera is a core tool to be used in all subjects! And Ss are sometimes the first ones to think to use it! Hey-can I just take a picture of it? YES! #AppleEDUchat
A1: The camera on an iPad makes it SO easy to add photos/videos to a shared cloud account, or other cloud applications. Ts and Ss can use those images or videos immediately instead of transferring from a media card or 3rd party camera. #AppleEDUchat
A.1 We have been making our own play-dough and are creating stories using the characters and scenery they have made. Using the camera to creating these movements in Stop Motion has been fun, creative, and an eye opener for the students of how animation works. #AppleEDUchat
A2 Yes! We have. We talked about landscape photography and then I had each student go out and take a landscape photo of our school that meant something to them. We are now combining them to make a photo book in Pages #EveryoneCanCreate#AppleEDUChat
A2 I have not used the ordinary objects lesson in my class yet but I want to use it with my media design class in the high school. It might also be fun with the child development class when they create picture books for the preschool class #appleEDUchat
A2: Haven’t had much chance to expose the students to the ECC Photography section yet… BUT, we have been using the time-lapse feature to show how awesome we are at solving equations using hands on methods! #AppleEDUChat
I had never thought about that. I really love the idea of students exploring and learning about their community and I think the camera app can allow the students to share what they have discovered. #AppleEDUchat
A2: We made personified photos of different areas and objects in the classroom to review expectations and using materials wisely. Kids loved it!! #AppleEduChat
A2: I started introducing my students to photography using the ECC: Photo guide! We worked our way through some of the activities, then students took the reins and lead us further into our photography journey by dictating where they think they needed practice. #AppleEDUchat
A2: I love using Keynote to create! Filling shapes, silhouettes, tracing images or enhancing text. I've recently been using the fonts created by @PaulHamilton8 to use photos of objects related to the topic that I can place inside the font shapes. #AppleEDUchat
A cool thing some students did last year was audio recording to do oral histories to add to the Library of Congress @StoryCorps#thegreatlisten . #AppleEDUchat
A1: The camera with mark up allows learners the chance to create from the world around them and make standards connections! This is the construction site out th back of @RMSSdol! #everyonecancreate#AppleEDUchat
A2: photo Journalism activity 2 Create a tutorial is one I often see with students as well as myself creating. Activity 3 creating a photo documentary and exporting it pretty much anywhere can lead to endless possibilities #AppleEDUchat#EveryoneCanCreate
A2: In my new role as a tech integrator, I try to incorporate the ECC ideas into my PD’s. These resources are so easy to use and can be applied to any subject! Can’t give enough love! ❤️❤️❤️ #AppleEDUchat
A2: Students also really enjoyed the activity on portrait photography! Anyone else try out taking portraits? Students loved finding places around campus that were different and unique! #appleEDUchat
A1: The camera with mark-up tools are amazing tools in general and work well to support social skill development creatively to add through bubbles and speech bubble annotations to pictures! #AppleEDUChat
What is/has been your favorite project for students to explore either photography and videography in the classroom? #appleeduchat Was it accompanied with app/website usage?
A2: There should be meaning and relevance in everything that Ss do in the classroom, and taking pictures is no different. Ss can learn HOW to take great images, and WHY they should care about WHAT images or videos they are capturing. Planning and meaning! #AppleEDUchat
Paul had shared them out awhile ago when the new features came out. I believe they are fonts drawn out so they become shapes. Then you can fill them with your own images. It's a lot of fun to use because the possibilities are endless! #AppleEDUchat
A2 I used the Everyone Can Create: Photo Guide to Teach my yearbook staff how to take pictures. Their creativity and photographic eye grew in leaps and bounds! #AppleEDUchat
We took a trip out to the Colorado river and explored angles. Ss did a LOT of narrow angle images. They were beautiful. And students were beyond engaged and on task, even when they weren't with a teacher. #AppleEDUChat
I really enjoyed doing this in your classroom and I think it's something that I can do on the first day with my future middle schoolers. It's a little more fun than just going around and saying your name. #AppleEDUchat
A2: I have used with teachers in PD as a way to teach iPad skills like mark-up & app smashing w Keynote. The directions in the ECC books are so clear & helpful! I asked Ts to try an activity of choice, then share back & reflect w group. #AppleEduChat
A3: I think photojournalism is a great way to dive into students telling their story! Students are already SO accustomed to sharing their life - one image at a time! Anyone have any great photojournalism experience in the classroom!? #AppleEDUchat
A3: Photography allows for ANY child to tell their story, regardless of their writing abilities. Pictures tell a story, and by allowing students an opportunity to tell their story, you're opening the doors for ALL students to be successful! #AppleEDUchat
A3) I designed an outdoor learning project for K called 'One Best Photo'. With @ForestryComm I created an iTunes U course to show teachers how young children can use the camera to tell the story of people, wildlife and timber: https://t.co/YgprR1PHJM#AppleEDUchat
A2: Our team has used the #EveryoneCanCreate materials with our #GreatLearningAcademy and are planning to bring the materials to each building for creative sessions with our teachers. Admin sessions next! #AppleEDUChat
A2 😍 Students loved our photo walk with 4th graders around the school so they could look for the letters in their name individually Activity 1 #EveryoneCanCreate#AppleEDUchat@AppleEDU
A3: I love using photography for the storyboarding process in my design thinking class. My students are already using the Story feature on Instagram, so they have the skills to make a compelling story, especially instead of writing an essay #AppleEDUChat
A3. Students can tell their story by taking pictures of their friends and family, their favorite places, and their home along with many other things. It would be a wonderful activity to get to know students more. #AppleEDUchat
A3: Photography lets the Ss show you their perspective from any angle that they feel is important. My Ss love to show me what they’re doing/have learned, but hate showing their face to do it. #AppleEDUChat
A2 It provides a great introduction and tutorial for some of the camera functions that aren’t as commonly used, like Live Photos, long exposure, time lapse, etc. #AppleEDUchat
A3: A whole story can be told through a single image or a series. So many great lessons on filters, angles and focusing. I love seeing our classes use the 5 photo stories that @dgoble2001 had shared. #classroomclips is amazing for this too! #AppleEDUchat
A3 It gives them flexibility in how they can tell their story. Rather than with words they can share with pictures. The can reflect their mood and feeling through various filters and express emotions using stickers and emoji. #EveryoneCanCreate#AppleEDUChat
A3: encouraging student autonomy on technological and artistic projects increase their sense of responsibility and commutment. when utilizing photography specifically, students are able to share more diverse moments in a short time span #AppleEDUchat
A3) My Ks read the story 'Naughty Bus' which is illustrated with real photographs. They then made their own bus models and photographed their busses getting in to trouble. These images illustrated their own books and inspired early writing: https://t.co/7KKN5OMl7O#AppleEDUchat
A2) The silohette activity was really fun. My kids loved taking objects they loved and creating a mask of themselves behind it as something they personally love to do. Ex. Soccer Ball with a kids pic or video of them playing behind it.#AppleEDUchat
A3: For students who are like me and can't find the right words, pictures can portray what they are thinking and the words can come later, if at all! #AppleEDUChat
A3: Words gain so much power when accompanied by the right visuals. Students can use photos to create video in Clips or iMovie, or we can challenge them to tell a whole story in a single image. This teaching revision & critical thinking #AppleEDUchat
A3: these Ss use camera to record their findings to better explain their thoughts. Ss started a mindfulness journal today and are using camera in Pages to rate their feelings and say why. Camera eliminates ELL affective filters. #accessibility#appleEDUchat
A3. Students are familiar with using instagram, and I think it would be cool to somehow put an educational twist on it and use it in a lesson in the classroom. #AppleEDUchat
A3 My K Kiddos tell their stories with pictures everyday! Those photos shared to digital portfolios help to build community between school and family. #appleEDUchat
A3: It’s fun to challenge students to only use photos to tell their story. It really forces them to consider the photos more carefully and the sequence they present them in. #AppleEDUchat
A3: Some Ss like to write, others like pictures. Giving Ss a choice in how to tell their story allows them to tell the story with their own rules. Why is this important? My story is not your story, and how I choose to tell my story makes it more real and I own it. #AppleEDUchat
A3: LEARNING IS ALL ABOUT THE STORY we tell with knowledge. Our English language learners took a field trip to Longwood Gardens and took photos of plants and flowers. Came back to school, researched to identify & turned into Clips magic! #AppleEDUchat#sdoltech
Amen. Says so much more than words can. Is their world. Is how they plan - they see the story so when they add images, it makes it so much richer and more meaningful. #AppleEduchat
Thank you for the shout out, Michelle, about my Six-Word Story, Six Shot Video Book. If anyone would like book, teaching resources, and lessons from around the world, visit https://t.co/bFSe5w497o. #AppleEDUchat#sixwordstory
Yes! I love this. Storytelling in all forms is important...but photography has such an emotional impact for both photographer and viewer. #AppleEDUchat
A3: Photography allows for ANY child to tell their story, regardless of their writing abilities. Pictures tell a story, and by allowing students an opportunity to tell their story, you're opening the doors for ALL students to be successful! #AppleEDUchat
A3: With my littles who don’t speak much English yet, pictures ARE the story. Ss are able to share so many more details with pictures than they can express writing in English right now. Then the language is layered onto the story the pictures tell. #AppleEduChat
I used a class Instagram when I taught middle school and high school to challenge students to find literary elements in the real world - whether it be figurative language or allusions to a text we were reading. Ss used our class hashtag to earn bonus points #AppleEDUchat
A3: Vy teaching students photography, you are giving them another voice to express themselves. The more tools they have the more expressive they can become. #AppleEDUchat
Camera Angles were a great emphasis with the 6-Word stories! We had great success with @dgoble2001 lessons. He has been an inspiration to me. #AppleEDUchat
In reply to
@iTeacher5th, @dgoble2001, @dgoble2001
Sorry Don, maybe we transformed it into 5 to modify it for one of our classrooms. Thank you for sharing your resources since I didn't have it right at my fingertips! #AppleEDUchat
Is a perfect entry point for ELL learners. Brings them in, allows them to share their perspectives and understandings where they written work might fail them or frustrate the message. #AppleEduchat
That's a great point. I think it helps our students learn to be more discerning in the content they create and share, rather than just rolling with their first draft of a project #AppleEDUchat
One of my science teachers did this the other day too! I was blown away! Last year they just filled in cell diagram worksheets. 🙁 #LEVELUP#AppleEduChat#sdoltech
A3) I designed an outdoor learning project for K called 'One Best Photo'. With @ForestryComm I created an iTunes U course to show teachers how young children can use the camera to tell the story of people, wildlife and timber: https://t.co/YgprR1PHJM#AppleEDUchat
A3: I have already walked away with some ideas on the bursts tonight! Also, Time-lapse isn’t used enough to document progress or learning. #AppleEDUChat
Love this project and i feel you hit experiential learning head on with encouraging student drive. "...let them explore and make mistakes, adapt their techniques through authentic learning experiences..." is the goal of modern education #appleeduchat
A3: A camera forces students to assess, revise, and publish. These are the foundational skills of life long learners. In fact, including editing and assessing photos in my ELA class has transformed how my students write. Best things are not written, but rewritten. #AppleEDUChat
A3: I think camera is the best app to use to help tell your story particularly with how students tell their day to day stories on social media! Creating videos in clips or simply just recording pictures and video of the story they are telling #AppleEDUchat
A3: Photos connect with story. Images memorialize events that we may remember for a lifetime. This is a great @TEDTalks about "How Photography Connects Us." https://t.co/1v0EW3WO8p#AppleEduChat
One of my favorite photo tips is using Magnifier (enable under Accessibility) to take macro style photos at low angle with great depth of field. Zoom it! #AppleEDUchat
A3: Vy teaching students photography, you are giving them another voice to express themselves. The more tools they have the more expressive they can become. #AppleEDUchat
A3 Sometimes it can be difficult to explain what you’re seeing in words. While pictures can help, the ability to edit these pictures (cropping, drawing, resizing, etc.) takes these aids to another level. #AppleEDUchat
So true for many. When we were doing podcast for announcements, the students didn't want their voice broadcasted. They got over that and now we are doing videos so most of them are over themselves being seen. It just takes adjustment time. #AppleEDUchat
When a student takes a picture, they share their perspective, we get a insight into their worlds. When they reflect on their pictures we can see them grow! #AppleEDUchat
A3 📸Using photography students can not only tell/author their original stories, they can also illustrate them as well with pictures that are important to them from their point of view! #AppleEDUchat#EveryoneCanCreate@AppleEDU
A4: I think the camera has SO many uses that allows learning to be accessible to all. Some Ss benefit from doing work on paper. Camera allows Ss to input their work onto digital documents! Others need to use the markup feature to help understand concepts clearly! #AppleEDUchat
A4) Young children's photography can motivate reluctant writers from an early age! Recently my K went on a winter walk and used their cameras to capture stunning photographs. I printed them and children wrote about each other's images: https://t.co/WfEu1BcAzC#AppleEDUChat
One of my favorite photo tips is using Magnifier (enable under Accessibility) to take macro style photos at low angle with great depth of field. Zoom it! #AppleEDUchat
A4: I encourage my teachers to take pictures of items and have students mark them up to show understanding ie: slope, area, or labeling or a plant! Possibilities are endless. #AppleEDUChat
A4: The camera app is a great tool for students to use to demonstrate understanding. It could be through photos or even video. Also a great way to explain thinking or to have available for others to rewatch as often as needed. Speaking and Listening skills! #AppleEDUchat
A1: Ss made memes and video clips on sci concepts like how does a molecules of oxygen reach the toe, and CO2 comes out of our mouths instead. We love using @Flipgrid also. #AppleEDUchat
I have some examples as part of our Puzzler series in last years Friday video messages. Here: https://t.co/gBf8C20MGj (about a minute in after lunch) #AppleEDUchat
A4) Using photography in young children's practical maths means they can create journals in apps like Pages. They can record their voice explaining their mathematical ideas, giving more learners a chance to explain and record their thinking https://t.co/P35OQQRZFs#AppleEDUchat
A4: Possibilities are endless… For my Ss who wear glasses, I allow them to take pictures of anything they cannot see. I use it as a document camera when I need to model hands on material, I also allow my ELL students to take pictures or video of their thinking. #AppleEDUChat
A4 We were going on a nature walk and a student snagged this photo. She was a student who struggled with writing but on this day she had endless things to say about the “rocky frog” #appleEDUchat
A4 The camera lets all of my students demonstrate what they have learned and express themselves. My students who are still working on writing skills are record their answers on video. Students can take a picture of their use of manipulative to solve a math problem. #AppleEDUChat
A4- I love have students create videos of themselves solving math problems. Shows understanding on an entirely new level, and if I let students create a movie of them solving, they have to look at the problem from so many different angles #AppleEDUChat
A4: Photos provide a “way in” to self expression for all learners and give them a visual starting place for more complex ideas and techniques! #appleeduchat#sdoltech@katbey2323
A4: Working with partners. Just like pair programming, having a creative partner helps students build confidence and come up with quick prototypes #AppleEDUchat
That sounds very interesting! I would love to learn more. Storyboards are a great planning tool. I love it when the kids ask, what does your story board say when they are helping a fellow student.#AppleEDUchat
A4: Photography allows all our students to capture their learning and experiences. Then the creativity in which our students share the photos to tell their story starts!
#AppleEDUchat
A4: Using pics to capture learning can take some pressure away from academic tasks that some students may not be successful at. When it’s digital mark up, there’s no fear of messing up because it’s so easy to erase. #AppleEduChat
A4 - You can use the camera to differentiate learning - provide projects and tasks that adapt to different learning styles - The best part about applying technology in the classroom. #AppleEDUchat
A4: Creating tutorials for Ss, and having Ss create tutorials for others. Constructing videos on ANY topic with the magic of iMovie helps generate that creative spark in our Ss! #AppleEDUchat
A4 #EveryoneCanCreate in PL when they select a camera tool (photo, video, slo-mo) to capture a given concept with a certain material (cars, LEGO, Play-Doh). #AppleEDUchat
A4 The camera is a big deal in K...my kiddos love to take photos and add their voice (a great skill for writers and prewriters). A photo alone gives my ELL kiddos a comfortable way to share...helps them become for confident.#appleeduchat
A4: I love having kids record summaries, narratives, and answers, then editing them down to 20 seconds or less. Choosing your words is sometimes the greatest assessment. Cameras have democratized how students learn and create. #AppleEDUChat
A4: One of the best things we did as a grade team was partner with a pro photography for a 4 week residency where she taught all Ss how to tell stories with photos, pro photo tips. Was amazing experience and the creativity shown was amazing. #AppleEDUchat
A4 - You can use the camera to differentiate learning - provide projects and tasks that adapt to different learning styles - The best part about applying technology in the classroom. #AppleEDUchat
A3: A camera forces students to assess, revise, and publish. These are the foundational skills of life long learners. In fact, including editing and assessing photos in my ELA class has transformed how my students write. Best things are not written, but rewritten. #AppleEDUChat
A4: Creating tutorials for Ss, and having Ss create tutorials for others. Constructing videos on ANY topic with the magic of iMovie helps generate that creative spark in our Ss! #AppleEDUchat
A4: recently used @Flipgrid and @showmeapp to pair video or audio clips to lesson plans with partnered subjects (math & literacy, science & art). tech savvy students work with tech learners to fully invest in material #teamworkmakesthedreamwork#appleeduchat
Students can use the camera to capture various stages of an experiment or project & use Markup to annotate important details or in the photos - Can share these with students who are absent so they don't miss out entirely #AppleEDUChat
Yes! Here is the "iAm" iMovie Trailer project, perfect for a personal story, characters, history lessons, you name it. https://t.co/NR0Z7l9ELN#AppleEDUchat
A4 Some of our faculty have found that making a brief instructional video for a student who is struggling with a particular task or concept can be very effective. #AppleEDUchat
A4: using the camera empowers every learner to express point of view, perspective. it can open their mind to unlimited creative possibilities #AppleEDUchat
A4: The camera is an equalizer for classroom communication. Digital learning artifacts are easy to share, and the camera makes physical/analog artifacts instantly sharable/annotatable. Camera captures eveidence of learning. #AppleEDUChat
Yes! Here is the "iAm" iMovie Trailer project, perfect for a personal story, characters, history lessons, you name it. https://t.co/NR0Z7l9ELN#AppleEDUchat
I worked with a teacher where we staged a scene and the students had to capture images in their mystery journal using Pages. They then used their photographs to inference. Although there is so much you can infer from any photograph too. Great for story starters! #AppleEDUchat
A4: The camera can make learning feel less formal and stuffy. I think this has been part of the power of @flipgrid; it makes discussion feel natural and conversational, so Ss can share more easily #AppleEDUchat
A4: Speaking of measuring, I found out yesterday you can use Google Earth to measure area and perimeter. Here’s the youtube link: https://t.co/O9kpKiZewO#AppleEDUchat
A5) On Remembrance Day, my Ks got to display their photography work in an exhibition in the community. They drew poppies and photographed them in PhotoBooth using the kaleidoscope filter. https://t.co/EMr1OK3vfx#AppleEDUchat
Sort of... in math we use 'What do you notice?' and 'What do you wonder?' to promote reflection/discussion about a given prompt and sometimes that's a photograph. #AppleEDUchat
Great idea! I remember doing this when I taught math. We would take pictures of the kids using the manipulatives and solving problems. They would have copies and I would put copies up on my website for the parents to new on the strategy we were using. #AppleEDUchat
Students can take photos and then use Markup to annotate the photos to create label activities to identify content vocabulary & exchange with classmates #AppleEDUChat
A3 #AppleEDUchat Like the old saying picture is worth 1000 words. I love having my students take pictures of everyday items around my school and then they write about how it relates to science. We are combining their ideas into Book "Science is Every Where"
love it when home life connect to school life! makes student assistance and understanding easier when support is coming from all sides of development. #appleeduchat
Q4 No matter what abilities students have they can all take a picture to to tell a story or share a bit of themselves. It's a way to add personality and individuality to a project. #AppleEDUchat
A4 #appleeduchat everyone can use the camera, no reading or English language required (or at least very little) never need to write notes ever again (unless you want to)
A5: My students spend a lot of time working on their photography, and I think their work deserves to be shared. We've print our images and post them around out classroom and campus. Students love seeing their images on display for others. #AppleEDUchat
A4: Speaking of measuring, I found out yesterday you can use Google Earth to measure area and perimeter. Here’s the youtube link: https://t.co/O9kpKiZewO#AppleEDUchat
A4: “NOW I get it because I can SEE it!” Photos makes abstract concepts relatable. Here using the measure app to calculate slope! #appleeduchat#sdoltech
We know that a picture is worth 1000 words, and for ELLs this could not be more true when learning new vocab. Camera adds to their voice in all ways! #AppleEDUchat
I try to take some pictures and tweet them out each class. its good for schools to know what we are having @oueducation future teachers do! #appleeduchat
Love taking the time to share their work on Twitter or my Instagram account. Each grade has a twitter account and it’s an awesome window into student growth, achievement and activities. I also have a photos section on my website where I share images. #AppleEDUchat
A4 📷students can take pictures to explain their learning then use speech to text, typing, markup, or record audio to add their thoughts. #AppleEDUchat#STUchoice#STUvoice
A5 @Seesaw was always my first stop in a primary classroom. We also had a class Twitter. Now at the high school we use YouTube and Instagram! Whole new world but just as much fun! #appleEDUchat
A3: All of our Ts shared their #oneword after going on a photo walk and using the camera and Keynote. Awesome to now see students doing this! #AppleEDUChat#EveryoneCanCreate
A5: We share our students work on twitter! We want to inspire others to be creative in their classrooms as well. We truly believe that #everyonecancreate and that everyone SHOULD create! #appleEDUchat
Exactly! I also really like it at the prototyping and feedback stage— it really documents their journey and makes gathering feedback much easier (they don't need to lug any prototypes around) #AppleEDUchat
A5: I like to share a lot via Twitter, because it is a great pool of resources. We also use @Seesaw, @Flipgrid, invite family into the buildings and encourage students to present with us at district conferences and out of district conferences like #TECH19 & #ISTE18. #AppleEDUchat
A5 we are currently working on finishing a picture e-book of landscape photos we took of the school. Once we have completed that we will share it with everyone. I am planning of having a gallery wall for our open house as well. #AppleEDUChat#EveryoneCanCreate
A5: Seesaw is an outstanding conduit of learning. Device agnostic (yet best on iPad), it provides a safe environment for students to create and share their understanding and growth. Driven largely by photo and video, it connects learners of all ages. #AppleEDUchat
A5: I love sharing student work with my administrator and our board members (we are a tiny district!) so they can see how hard students are working because they said YES! #AppleEDUChat
A5: working to share so much more of what our students are doing through schoolwide photo share, Facebook, Twitter, and our new school app! #appleEDUchat
A5: My favorite way is definitely @Flipgrid! It's just so easy with privacy settings that protect student data and let me share with the community #AppleEDUchat
A4: Well... I think the ability to use mark up within the camera app to write on photos is awesome. And no one should underestimate the power of AirDropping photos back and forth in a class. The front and rear facing camera are so useful.
#appleeduchat
A3: #AppleEDUchat I think Photography gives students another way to express what they see, learn, observe, analyze, and make real life connections to the content they are learning. Having students take pictures allows me to see the lens they have about the objective/topic.
A5: in my future classroom I plan to use a blog that is student and teacher friendly sharing the students work and allowing the parents to see what the students are working on in class daily. #appleeduchat#GEN2108
A5: Our district has a Student Showcase in May, that really highlights exceptional Student work. For the parents, I would use my YouTube channel (keep work unlisted) or Google Drive to share out the awesome work Ss were doing. #AppleEDUchat
A5) My favourite place to display children's photography is in a gallery. The Forestry Commission England made an outdoor gallery for the One Best Photo project at Sherwood Pines: https://t.co/r6LxXDDzTb#AppleEDUchat
A5) #AppleEDUChat You can display children's photography in your own class galleries like this too. Attached to eat photo collage is the child's writing about their work:
A5- I think a lot of schools are moving towards digital portfolios now and this gives students a unique way to display their work to any audience they would like! #AppleEDUChat
A5: We try to connect with our community on projects that matter. @BurlingtonPrinc students are currently designing a real park for the @cityoflongmont
Students will share their ideas via video and photos!
#AppleEDUchat
A5: I love to share what my students have done through twitter and sharing it on our school Facebook page. We also share through @Seesaw blogs and @Flipgrid#appleeduchat
A5 My 'students' are my educators... I would rather they share their own learning... so I am working to support them to do so through their @bulbapp digital portfolios (like I am here: https://t.co/auFqAzlbyS) #AppleEDUchat
A5: We've shared our work with local business and government pages. My Ss have been featured on the Yuma Visitors Bureau instagram and will be featured on the Yuma Historical Society webpage. Reach out! People WANT to support students. Give them a way to do it! #appleEDUchat
A5: have worked with @Seesaw to connect before and just got introduced to school-wide sharing programs where projects are not displayed in/directly near the students classroom, but all over the school (cafe, gym, front office). Love the student promotion! #appleeduchat
A5 Social media, ePortfolios, blogs/web sites. Sometimes students will include links to projects/papers in their résumés or LinkedIn profiles if they feel it’s relevant to the positions they’re applying for. #AppleEDUchat
A5) I have daily features on our daily announcements. It is usually an animation or something we created in Digital Media. 95% of the social media I post was created by my students. They love seeing their work out there. I also feature student work on my website. #AppleEDUchat
I tweet examples of student work during class, and I also ask the pre-service teachers in my class to tweet the work they're creating. This increases their audience and encourages them to start building their PLNs #AppleEDUchat
A5: One of my goals for this year is to push out student photo art as the wallpaper on over 4000 iPads across the district. New art every week maybe...how empowered would kids be?! #sdoltech#appleeduchat
I need to do that more. I get so involved in watching them. I'll remember to take pictures, but forget to post them. That needs to be a goal for me. #AppleEDUchat
A5 Up to this point, their photos were just shared amongst their peers. BUT after tonight I have a TON of ideas for sharing out in the future! #AppleEDUchat
A5: One of my goals for this year is to push out student photo art as the wallpaper on over 4000 iPads across the district. New art every week maybe...how empowered would kids be?! #sdoltech#appleeduchat
A4: I love when our HS Ss ask to go to the Es to share their stories, coding activities, and ideas. Great to have all buildings on one campus! #bermpride This monster project by @BSMSart is a great example! #appleEDUchat
A6 I am going to start having students save the photos and videos demonstrating their learning into Pages so they can create a book showcasing their progress throughout the year. #EveryoneCanCreate#AppleEDUChat
I’ve missed the last few chats but it was great to jump in again. Love the ideas and raw juice you all have. Looking forward to putting your brainwaves to use in the classroom. Cheers everyone #AppleEDUChat
A4: By taking pictures of items in my science lab & labeling them they can add it to their Keynote Science Lab notebook. The pictures help them with collecting data and observations. Ss on IEP can refer to pictures frequently to help them write their observations. #AppleEDUchat
I think it's important for me to model how I'm telling the story of our learning, too! And I want to amplify my students' voices by sharing their work however I can :) #AppleEDUchat
A6: I’m excited to start using the ECC guide for photographs with my kiddos to gain their perspective. I also want to learn more about the editing features for photos (other than markup). #AppleEDUChat
It is everything! Ts can bring work (projects) from all subjects. My own children have participated in mapmaking, and I have seen Ss creating the night sky, writing, literacy, math, etc. It is a wonderful mix of everything. SO AWESOME! #AppleEDUchat
Hey everyone! Thanks for the chat! Always inspiring! If you have a chance to check out my new book in @AppleBooks I’d appreciate it so much! Some ideas of how to use Keynote and photos to amp up learning! #appleeduchathttps://t.co/OSLYbWZATV
I loved learning the many ways the iPad and camera can be used in the classroom! I will definitely be taking these ideas with me as a future educator. #AppleEDUchat
The ECC Photo book guides you through the editing in the first few activities! I didn't know you could change/edit by just moving your finger up or down while in the camera! #AppleEDUChat
I'm going to start simple with posting my students working in my classroom daily and then read through all these great ideas again and make a list of things to try! Thank you everyone! #AppleEDUchat
A6: loved suggestions of cross-subject, tiered learning opps. Mixing science with app photography (@jshoja and @plantsnap) and maybe encouraging student video lesson production with @showmeapp . a lot of great people and tech connections!! #appleeduchat
A6 This year I have been pushing students to create their own images for use in projects. NOW I have examples to share with the teachers on what it can look like!
#AppleEDUchat
A6) You can download 'The Rich Potential of Young Children's Photography' guide for free and find lots of my photography projects for the year. I wrote the Young Children Can Create series with @KristiMeeuwse and @JasonMilner: https://t.co/AnN75yC5Rz#AppleEDUChat
A6) I would love to really look into the One Best Photo by @MarcWithersey I would love to see our primary students doing more photography. So many great visual opportunities for learning! #AppleEDUchat
A6: I want to share more examples of using markup on photos w/ my Ss and challenge them to incorporate this into their learning and reflection #AppleEDUchat
So many ideas...so many things to try! An idea I could put into action tomorrow would be 'My One Word" or using student photos as iPad "Wallpaper" / background. #appleeduchat
We use Canva as one means of creating post for social media. They do so well. I talk to them about Design tips and they really learn fast! You and your kids will love it! #AppleEDUchat
A6: #AppleEDUchat I plan to share more of my students work on Twitter. Help all my students K-6 grade in my science lab use the camera to help them make more connections in learning and share with others classes in our school and community. Complete book with my students.
A6: I have been so I speed by this chat! Finding ways to showcase Ss work in the community, incorporating ECC photo ideas, time lapse, etc! Incredible! #AppleEDUchat
Working on a project with a science PLC in which students take photos of artifacts and use them to create a book for other classes to illustrate concepts for that unit #AppleEDUChat
Thanks for hosting a great #AppleEDUchat tonight @HollyMecher and @StephBauer17! Loved this topic and so inspired to go try some new things in the classroom!
Thank you for such a great chat! Be sure to join #appleEDUchat next Tuesday to talk all about ownership of learning with @JessicaRae929 and @Mcnellie40. Look forward to chatting with you next week!
