CatholicEdChat is a twitter chat. Topics focus on discussions around educational issues for Catholic Educators and topics beneficial to Catholic Schools. We look forward to continuing to connect Catholic Educators online to discuss education and teaching with faith in our schools. The chat takes place on Saturday mornings. Time 9am EST.
Good morning! K-8 librarian from Peabody, MA. Yesterday afternoon was the start of our February vacation! Much needed rest for students and staff. #CatholicEdChat#RCABSchools
Maureen in Cleveland, first year principal. Best part of last week was a compliment from the business manager about the best re-enrollment numbers she’s seen. #CatholicEdChat
Maureen, Principal at St. Margaret Mary, Omaha. Best part of the week was starting a new tradition--assembly to announce high school scholarship winners. Oh, and red/white/blue day to honor veterans. And Valentine's day. Whew! #Catholicedchat
Good morning, #CatholicEdChat. Terri, PreK-8 technology teacher in Omaha. Best part of the week was seeing 25% of our 8th grade class receive academic scholarships to high school. Two were the top test scorers at their school!
Morning! First time here. Aubrey from Alberta 🇨🇦 Work with leadership teams of teachers and admins in school districts and universities. Recently finished up as a Cath superintendent after a bazillion years in Cath Ed.
#CatholicEdChat
Good Morning. Mo, 5th T from Southern MD. Best part at school was celebrating St. Bernadette at watching -still intriguing after all these years! #CatholicEdChat

Sean from Chicagoland - Dir of Instructional Tech at Marian Catholic HS. Best part of last week was when my Ss problem solved and fixed the Berlin airlift issues. I gave them necessary data & they did all the work. #CatholicEdChat
Michelle from STL, a snowy Sat morning AGAIN! So many snowy weekends this year. Went to #METC19 a MO Edtech Community conference. It was a good one this year! #CatholicEdChat
the genius of @reenkberg#CatholicEdChat it's an expensive book so this forces us to really use it and not just sit on our shelf. Love seeing the different ideas in our building.
I used one week’s parent newsletters to promote the state’s local sub license. We got two parents motivated to complete it and now we see them all the time as subs #CatholicEdChat
my sister was looking to change her Twitter name and I told her to stay away from the underscore. I think it makes searching for a name harder to do. #CatholicEdChat

Good morning #catholicedchat I’m in the middle of my candidacy writing for my EdD work. I’m looking forward to catching up on the conversation later on today. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
How does your staff/faculty support members that are going through trials in their own lives? Or resources...Hard to put on best for Ss when we are anxious/worried too...#CatholicEdChat
I'm sorry to say it but..... #CatholicEdChat . We have an amazing aide that will get pulled into classrooms. We are struggling too. It's been a rough one this year with the flu.
I feel that I have always gotten support just by being open and honest about what is going on in my life. I talk about my husband’s challenges daily and I am always told I’m in their prayers. #catholicedchat
I know, it’s not ideal. I feel bad for her jumping all over the school. She has been a middle school teacher, 3rd, K, 2nd, and ME! Can you imagine?? And she is a new aide this year. I hope she stays, she’s AMAZING! #CatholicEdChat
In high school it’s not too bad since we can sub a block on our off period. But in elementary school it’s an awful situation. The lack of subs is distressing. #catholicedchat. Honestly, a bump in the pay scale for subs is needed.
E-Learning Days are the way to go. We had 3 of them two weeks ago. Really helped us revamp our policies and procedures so the next ones will be even better. #CatholicEdChat#NoSchoolInJune
What’s worse is that teachers will come to school sick rather than get a sub because 1) Planning for a sub is too much work and 2) they feel bad knowing there are no subs available #Catholicedchat

We have faculty prayer every Wed morning and we share updates. I agree with Christine I get the same support from my peeps. It’s a very loving group of Ts. #CatholicEdChat
Since we are 1:1, our Ts can post their lesson on @Schoology (our LMS) and Ss must complete the lesson that day at home. It keeps us moving forward & keeps us on track for our calendar. #CatholicEdChat

So many lightbulb moments - I apologize for sitting back so much. Trying to understand and learn the differences between how Cath Ed works in our countries. (Ex -my prov is publicly funded)
We share all of the priorities, but the challenges are so different.

We have collected gift cards for a couple of guys whose wives have been diagnosed with cancer. And they collected some for me when my husband had his stroke. #Catholicedchat
This sounds amazing! It’s important to let Ss participate. Their prayers are powerful! I know what it feels like to have a “prayer army”. It’s what gets you through the tough days! #CatholicEdChat
There are just so many things we take for granted.
There are pieces that I am reading with awe from your schools too.
Exchanging ideas is great, exchanging perspectives and realities is fascinating.
I love this! for me a big mass day is Friday! Always try to invite others to join staff and students. Several staff members do the same thing. #CatholicEdChat

We are working out those details for what works best before or after school. I think we will do Monday mornings since we do late starts on Monday. #CatholicEdChat

BTW I introduced a project idea for The Odyssey instead of a big test and guess what-they are coming out amazing. Glad my fellow English teachers are on board. #catholicedchat
Any ideas how to share our Lenten activities? Last year about 6 of our #RCABSchools worked together to create a collaboratively Stations of the Cross slide show. #CatholicEdChat

Hmmm, I will brew on this idea until next week. I would love to see some schools gather together in prayer and activity via video. The #CSW Kahoot was good. We could build off of this idea. #CatholicEdChat
I need to put on my “mom” hat. I am cookie mom for my daughter’s GS troop and our cookies are ready for pickup. I will have 78 cases of cookies in my house. #CatholicEdchat
