Hi All. Sorry for jumping in late. Melissa from Ohio
I just started subscribing to podcasts in the last few months. Find listening to them in the car is hugely beneficial
Glad you could join us Melissa.
A2 It has to be a video by I realized it was okay for my students to teach me
I could watch TedTalks all day - especially that one.
I wish I could. But music helps clear my head during my commute.
Love the Dancing Guy video to demonstrate how it's ok to take a risk, but we need that 2nd person https://t.co/4qBwQyf8Sh
A2: This Ted Talk by Conrad Wolfram really pushed me to rethink what math instruction should be. https://t.co/HD05azTIl4
You're not listening to audio books in the car?! (Said the librarian who also listens to various podcasts too)
I could as well. I've also found myself watching "The Last Lecture" multiple times a year as well.
Yeah. I have a 30-35 min commute so it's perfect for a podcast.
A2: TedTalks in general always challenge me & inspire reflection. Following coaches like give me daily inspo too!
Thanks for sharing that one. I love 3 Act Math from
Jesse from St. Paul, Minnesota joining late. I teach 5th grade.
Q3: Which new app, or tech, helped you see new possibilities and open doors for your students? (It just needs to be new to you)
A3 My new iPad Pro-can't get enough.
What color is the sky before a Tornado? Oh, that's probably not a good question to ask is it?
A3: For my students it was creating their own podcasts. They made their own modeled after . https://t.co/oDkD9hra5p
A3: organized their creation tools t0 . It gives Ss multiple choices to express themselves in one place!
Me too but it's the only time I can practice my singing!
A3: Google draw and other sketch tools will be used to help my Ss demonstrate their learning of different graphs in AP Econ.
A3: organized their creation tools to . It gives Ss multiple choices to express themselves in one place!
I'm debating if I get the 9.7" Pro or Air2
Student - Tt relationships are more important than rigor & relevance. Ss will learn if they believe Ts care about them.
Yes-all things Adobe-apps are amazing!
Joining late - Mike from near Rochester NY
Get the pro. Or do what I did and get both! The pen for the pro is unbelievable!
Welcome Mike. Glad you could join us.
Can't believe w're 1/2 way through, it's almost time for Q4
A3. I've been playing with to help my Ts collaborate with it and provide better organized info.
That's a great part of Adobe putting it together in one place.
Q4: How did another educator connect with you & influence or encourage you to take a risk & change something in your classroom
It looks ugly, but I've got another 1/2 hour or more before anything hits.
A4. Had a T try something on her own that changed her classrm. My teaching more effective w real classrm example!
We used Paper53 for students to SketchNote as a review tool. They said they could "see" the answers on the test.
A4: challenged my own education pushing me to apply for my doctorate and become a better educator for my Ss.
all of the that I have come in contact with. Just in awe daily of what they are doing.
And as long as Ts are comfortable getting out of the way & facilitating - Ss win.
I will definitely be looking them up!
was instrumental in us choosing and me becoming a
Last summer I met & in Dec I got to spend 2 days w/ him & at Launch Me. Unbelievable!
Oops, looks like I spelled your name wrong. Sorry! https://t.co/iXiRNTh88b
Thanks!! t It has made a huge difference in how my Ss approach reading. It makes books exciting & makes them go viral!
That rocks! I'm on the edge of starting my admin cert. Never thought I would/could do that.
Indeed! It's a powerful tool for both teachers and classrooms.
A4: Fortunate to work with a great group. I also attended many conferences where the knowledge of the room is brought together!
Start dreaming - you'll need it for Q5 in 1 minute.
I saw & met so many great Keynote speakers & leaders this year, but what has done at is beyond awesome!
it's awesome. I have my admin certificate and it gives me a new perspective on teaching and appreciation for admin.
Q5: What new technologies would you like to see in your own school next year? How would they help create positive change?
Agreed. I've been working more with admin this year. Being out of classroom gives me ability to reflect more.
A5: 3D printer would be dream number 1. A set of VR would be amazing too! Maybe I can make 1 a reality...
A5: I'd like to see interactive tech with a stylus for Ss to draw out as well as type their notes/worksheets/homework.
there are so many wonderful programs and mentors out there.
We're blessed w/ iPads, Apple TV, etc.., but my dream is that we achieve the invisible iPad & Ts utilize formative assessments
Have you tried or ? Great way for Ss to draw out their answers while T has access
The 3D printer is cool, but w/o maker time or space, I'm pretty sure I'd be the one playing w/ it every day.
NO! But I am definitely making a list tonight of ones I need to check out! THANK YOU!
Q6: What would you like to see more of (or less of) during next year?
A5: More so initiatives I would like to see- digital learner portfolio for all Ss, the new googlesites for potential platform?
They came out to our school and watched how our Ts were using it. Pretty cool to connect.
Yeah, a little worried about that too, but I need to start someplace, and getting one would make it push us to use it!
They're a Chicago based company, and we connected on Twitter (of course)
A6: more amazing tools and tips like I have learned tonight.
vetted tools that work the best
We will be taking a break from until August 24, but that doesn't mean the PLN we've created can't connect between now and then.
Minds Online by Michelle Miller gave ideas for course design
Almost time to help us out for next year's chats. Q6 is up in 1 minute.
Which is why I love my iPad Pro!
: How are you going to influence others to take a risk, and make a change in order to benefit their students
A5 I want a drone for my video class.
Thanks for sharing that one. I hadn't seen that before.
and keeping what they have made. I'm not sure what a good solution to that is.
That sounds like fun!! Add that to my list too!
yes, we have done that too. Since Ss use drive so frequently, I am thinking sites is a good option!
I teach in a new computer lab, so it's going to be tricky.
Loved every minute of it. It energizes us to work with others on parallel missions! 💜💙💜 https://t.co/XG1NSU9bU7
