Welcome to ! Let's get started: introduce yourself! Q1: What’s your favorite communication tool? https://t.co/8jkfnhUKHj
-
Good evening, everyone, and welcome to the October edition of the chat! I'm your host, Rachel Pierson, and my fave tool is Twitter!
-
But I have to say that I like Facebook to keep in touch with family, and Voxer as another tool to connect w/ other teachers.
-
I'm Shelly a Library Media specialist in Green Bay. My favorite tool is ....... I can't pick just one
-
Welcome, Shelly! I know--being connected is hard work on all platforms. So many each serve great purposes!
-
Hi, I'm Gail. Have to say I use Google+ quite a bit.
-
Welcome, Gail! I don't go on G+ as often, but there's lots of great stuff there, too!
-
I also find just texting so handy at school. Can find my own teachers and principal anytime -
-
SO we've got Twitter, Voxer, FB, G+, texting -- so many ways we are connected to each other. Love it!
-
Absolutely!! Welcome! We're glad you're here!
-
Q2 Coming up in one minute!
-
I use Google + for a few select groups. Something I shoudl explore more.
-
Q2: With all the teachers’ conferences this month, share 1 thing you learned/looking fwd to learning. https://t.co/0y8Je1jJEz
-
The MN conference is tomorrow and Friday! Looking forward to meeting with the mentors to discuss New Teacher Induction.
-
Hoping to help teachers strengthen their PLNs
-
...if I get my presentation done....
-
I'm sure you'll be great! Do I get to make a guest appearance? ;)
-
Sure! Love it! Showing the many ways we can learn - PLN are key.
-
-
I will help you in any way I can. :)
-
Digital Immigrants: How can we keep up?
-
I'd like to know the teachers don't connect. ???
-
Best piece of advice I keep telling people from Sue Braun (wife of Mark): "Pick one horse and ride it." K.I.S.S.
-
-
Perhaps it's because they don't feel they have the time or energy. Would love to survey all WELS Ts.
-
Q3 is on deck in 60 seconds!
-
Q3: Give a shout out to a colleague who has helped you move forward in your teaching. How did they help you? https://t.co/VeAo5PzpXN
-
I love the connections I have made and have learned so much from them. Not sure why others haven't grown their PLN
-
It would be interesting to hear what they have to say.
-
I'd have to say that there have been many influential Ts, but my shoutout goes to who got me started in
-
Shout out to principal who gave me free reign to design tech in our school and had faith in my being able to do it .
-
Admins who believe in the power of tech in learning are so key to anyone else moving forward.
-
I would say and all my friends from Discovery Ed.
-
Opps. Time's up for me - Sound Booth meeting at 8:30...Bye all
-
-
Aww, so humbling! Thank you!
-
Q4 Arriving in your feed in 60,000 milliseconds!
-
-
A4: I have learned SO. MUCH. from my PLN. The communities I love have shaped my teaching.
-
right back at you! You got me started with twitter, my first follower...
-
I think *not* being connected in this day is a huge disadvantage. We have to do what's best for kids.
-
A4 I am so blessed to have my WELS connections and my Discovery Ed connectins.
-
My DEN network is always willing to help and answer questions. We share resources and ideas.
-
Would you say that's a program worth getting in to? Even if we don't use Discovery a lot?
-
I have a great PLN through an amazing group. Also my ALHS principals.
-
-
Q5: How can we encourage WELS educators to be connected online? Are there first steps we can take? https://t.co/xYvOool4KO
-
The people in the DEN are the hidden gem of Discovery. Not to mention all the partnerships they have.
-
A5: I think this goes along with what I told earlier. Pick one thing and start slow. Don't bite off too much.
-
A5 Good question. I would like to see MLC Ss encouraged to get connected before they get out in the ministry.
-
I forgot to mention that DE "talks" to Google classroom and there is Board builder for Ss and Ts.
-
That would be a great suggestion for the instructional technology Profs!
-
A5 I think they first need to be convinced of the benefits professionally Not so difficult for the millennials tougher for the Xers
-
A5 I learn so much with the Twitter chats. I know some are intimidating. Start with lurking, then join in the next time.
-
A5: Yes! The chats are the hidden gem of Twitter in Education. :) So many great connections.
-
I think we also need more integration in our regional T conferences.
-
Q6 == the final question! It's coming up next.
-
-
A6: I know that's not really a question, but I'm going to try to bring along my new teacher I'm mentoring, .
-
I would love to see resources tweeted out. Tweets projected.
-
A little difficult when some have discouraged tech during keynotes!
-
Yes! I remember, hard to tweet about something you hear an hour after you heard it.
-
I also think that was from ppl who don't understand the power of Twitter
-
That was one of the greatest draws for conferences, always tweeting quotes and questions. Amazing!
-
I have my Twitter feed open during edcamps and conf. I learn so much from others not in the room
-
A6: Going to work with my student teachers.
-
And the other perspectives help you consider things you may not have wondered!
