CatholicEdChat is a twitter chat. Topics focus on discussions around educational issues for Catholic Educators and topics beneficial to Catholic Schools. We look forward to continuing to connect Catholic Educators online to discuss education and teaching with faith in our schools. The chat takes place on Saturday mornings. Time 9am EST.
Good Morning #CatholicEdChat Mostly lurking today from Arlington, VA Taking care of a sick kiddo this morning 🤒 I look forward to all of the Lent resource ideas to share through @NCEATALK
Adam, 5/6 social studies, Mayfield Heights, Ohio! Just finished working with our students on their drama club production! So proud of these students! #CatholicEdChat
Q2 Knowing that the 3 pillars of Lent are prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, how will you incorporate this into your Lenten practices with your students? #CatholicEdChat
A1: I was thinking how much I miss the activities and warmth in the schools during Lent, and extended to all times. Short little trip down memory lane. 😊
#CatholicEdChat
A1: #catholicedchat Getting ready for Easter-sharing and learning new ideas from others about what Catholic Schools do and adding to our Lent resources.
so true! I feel so lucky to be a teacher during Advent and Lent. Schools really help bring the students AND the teachers closer to God during these times. #CatholicEdChat
A2 Prayer services, rice bowl, and talk about sometimes it is not what you give up, it can be positive acts of kindness. Sometimes it is harder to be kind. #CatholicEdChat
A2: waiting for direction from our parish liturgy committee, then will process as a staff and implement. So I will sit back and take it all in this AM #CatholicEdChat
A2: our school has a great focus on behaviors, attitudes and actions to “fast” from. We also talk about ways kids can give- their time, their appreciation. This poster hangs in all our rooms. Stops the I’M GIVING UP CHOCOLATE Catholic pattern before it starts lol #CatholicEdChat
One of our middle school teachers came up with it a couple of years ago and I believe used some of the daily challenges from different resources. I'll find out, though. #catholicedchat

Each year we have a Lenten Theme. Last year it was Christ's Love Knows No Limits and all the teachers add it to their e-mail signature and talk about it with students. #CatholicEdChat
Just a suggestion from this K-12 former teacher, having students design a “battle plan” for #lent means they choose a Saint team for intersessions and a committed practice. They also had an accountability partner #CatholicEdChat
I’m just joining in after dropping my daughter off at a math competition, and I’ve already emailed myself three of these ideas! You all are the best. #CatholicEdChat
I'm bummed this year that we will be on Spring Break on Ash Wednesday so no video of our Little Black Cross on our Head! https://t.co/oOxknRis6m#CatholicEdChat
My 2nd graders would write down something they struggled with and then we had time to place it on a branch (Vine and Branches parable from John) and then pray daily together for each other. #CatholicEdChat
Ss like the Lent gardens they made & took home for daily prayer - you need sand, rocks, plastic heart, purple cloth, old plate, sticks to make a cross #CatholicEdChat
#CatholicEdChat Given what’s been going on in our American team, helping Ss understand the roles of Simon and Veronica as helping each other as grace in action ❤️
I saw that @V_Spadoni is having a school wide project for families to donate 40 items during Lent. They sent home a bag to each family. #CatholicEdChat
Anyone else do a living stations of the cross? We do a shadow one and it’s so beautiful. It started out being directed by my husband and me, but now it’s completely student run by 8th graders and it’s just lovely 💜#catholicedchat

Our theme this year is Find Your Center. We incorporate it into our prayer (centering prayer and labyrinth walking), fasting, and almsgiving. The latter two have not been finalized yet. #CatholicEdChat
This could be a great culminations reflection piece! Make up a playlist and explain why you chose each song (assuming you have been exposing your children to Lenten music for the past 40 days)! #CatholicEdChat
#CatholicEdChat just a final thought for Confirmation age Ss, helping them understand the discernment of spirits through different activities has also been effective.
Before last night’s drama club show, I had the honor to pray with our cast and crew. I told them the story of St. Genesius, the patron of actors. I told them to use their talents to serve God...and they did! What a great group! #CatholicEdChat
Attending EdcampAOP 2019 at Lansdales Catholic High School. Waiting to connect with Archdiocese of Washington DC, Promoting Collaboration. @aoptech#Catholicedchat
Has anyone ever completed a RAOK tour? It's a great Lenten activity that my students loved. The surprised teachers loved it too. #CatholicEdChathttps://t.co/6mnHWLzi6W
Day 111 Leaving nice notes from each of us on our principal’s door during the first stop of our parade of @Postit act of kindness tour! Which teacher is next? Shhhh, it is a surprise!
Any interest in starting a Flipgrid for our students to share what they’re doing for Lent this year? Wanted to start one for Advent but life got in the way! #CatholicEdChat
What is the best way you've used Padlet in the classroom? (besides KWL, question/answer, discussion board, etc.) And, have you used it with 7th & 8th grades? #EdTech#Padlet
#catholicedchat One thing we look forward to during Lent is the living stations performed by the 6th graders. There is also a public performance. It is beautiful.
Thanks for the great chat! Running off to child wrangle now. My husband is the organist at our church and has to head out to an obligation. Can’t wait to steal your ideas! #CatholicEdChat
Thanks everyone for sharing! I know Twitter was slow for all but we got it done. I know it worked for the spammers as we has spam tweets. LOL #CatholicEdChat
Thank you so much for all of the resources and positive chat. I have been more the lurker today because I just don't have that day to day in the schools any longer, but I will pay forward the wonderful sharing/ideas offered today tenfold. Very grateful for today! #CatholicEdChat
Thanks for sharing all the great Lenten resources and for a great chat @BarbInNebraska#catholicedchat Working on some of this right now-ideas so good - got distracted during the chat!
