Q1: Is the learning in your classroom static or dynamic? Are there mostly one-and-done types of activities or does the learning live and grow throughout the year?
#tlap
Addison from Franklin, TN. HS Social Studies teacher and general troublemaker. Just got done hosting my very first Twitter chat at #EngagingClassrooms and now I'm ready to do some skaiing with #tlap and @ShakeUpLearning!
Howdy #tlap crew ~ Barbara, school counselor in TX and Junior the giraffe, bringing back our beginning of the year hook picture, to remember the energy and the fun.
A1: Technology is not a solution but it presents us with a unique opportunity to go beyond what we thought was possible and create more dynamic learning. #tlap
A1: Dynamic is the goal for the whole school but it's a process. Your book has some great ideas to make it more dynamic and stop the one and dones #tlap
A1 I think I am on a journey from static to dynamic right now. I am moving away from day to day, and trying to create more integrated experiences. #tlap
A1: I learned the hard way that one-and-done is static and moved to more project based and creative learning that could move BEYOND the boundaries of traditional learning. #tlap
A1. There’s a blend of both. We do labs that are sometimes static, but it’s because the materials are expensive! The reflections are more dynamic with student choice. #tlap
Q1: Is the learning in your classroom static or dynamic? Are there mostly one-and-done types of activities or does the learning live and grow throughout the year?
#tlap
A1: I am in my first year of teaching and we have a scripted curriculum. I am always looking for advice on how to kick up the dynamics in a static classroom. #TLAP
A1: My students vote on their presentation projects each semester, so they steer their activities each year. I love when they come up with a new project, and we get to plan it out together. #tlap
Q1: Is the learning in your classroom static or dynamic? Are there mostly one-and-done types of activities or does the learning live and grow throughout the year?
#tlap
A1 Dynamic as possible...still getting the hang of things, but try to build each day/concept upon another Ss really like seeing the learning pathway #tlap

A1 before I knew better, it was static, now that I have broken from tradition, dynamic, active, collaborative, student led, I try to build on the activ in a different way, include Ss in decisions #tlap
We teach in units of study where the learning builds & grows over time. Introduced Genius Hour this year, where the learning is anything but static! #tlap
a1: right now i think its more of static classroom where things are one and done but i want to see it change where the learning does lie and grow throughout the year. #tlap
Q1: Is the learning in your classroom static or dynamic? Are there mostly one-and-done types of activities or does the learning live and grow throughout the year?
#tlap
A1: I try my best to be dynamic as learning lives and grows through Ss interests and needs within and beyond the classroom walls. My #tlaptribe is my inspiration! #tlap
A1: Though the tasks change almost everyday the skills of empathy, critical thinking, creativity, and others are flowing through the very fiber of the people of the past we study across the year! #tlap
A1: I would say this year it’s been about 50/50. Dynamic has been the goal, and I think I’m moving in he right direction…but yeah. Some days have definitely been more static :(. #tlap
A1: When I was in the classroom, I would say honestly learning was static at first. But that’s b/c my teaching was static, too. The learning became more dynamic as I grew as an educator. #tlap
Q1: Is the learning in your classroom static or dynamic? Are there mostly one-and-done types of activities or does the learning live and grow throughout the year?
#tlap
A.1 This year has been interesting as I took over for a teaching in January and have spent a great deal of time teaching #LEARNING vs Point gathering. The Dynamic has been different to say the least. #TLAP
A1: I try to make it grow, but the kids aren't much for watering and caring for their learning. They've forgotten how to grow their brains, believing it to be a waste of their time because of so much static cultivation. I do my part, but need more dynamic brain farmers. #tlap
#tlap A1. With SBG, there are NO 1-done activities. Last week I gave an assessment that re-assessed something from Lesson 2. (We're on Lesson 51.) Ss know it's NEVER over. I will show up at their houses in July with another assessment. (JK) (Maybe)
Q1: Is the learning in your classroom static or dynamic? Are there mostly one-and-done types of activities or does the learning live and grow throughout the year?
#tlap
A1: it seems history lends itself to being dynamic as it can be told like a story throughout the year. But I’m in the process of creating a more dynamic learning experience. #tlap
A1a With #NGSS & #IQWST (our resource) the coherence is intentional from lesson to lesson and unit to unit That is helping making class more dynamic ##tlap
A1: Dynamic for sure, much to the annoyance at times of my Ss. They like one and done because then they are...well...done! Not happening on my watch! We learn, grow, try, fail, then lather, rinse, and repeat! #tlap#ShakeUpLearning
A1: I'm working on finding more ways to move the learning from Static to dynamic. I am excited to see the dynamic change as I get more comfortable with my content. #tlap
A1. I work with teachers, but always try to relate back to what we did previously. It is sometimes hard when you have a jump in and out relationship. #tlap
Absolutely! Technology is a powerful tool! You do not need to force it into areas, but when used well it can be absolutely transformative! @ERobbPrincipal#tlap
A1: Technology is not a solution but it presents us with a unique opportunity to go beyond what we thought was possible and create more dynamic learning. #tlap
A1: I feel like I’m somewhere in the middle currently, but making progress towards more dynamic learning. We definitely build off of other lessons as we go, but still want it to grow and for Ss to make connections and be cognizant of this on their own more! #tlap
Q1: Is the learning in your classroom static or dynamic? Are there mostly one-and-done types of activities or does the learning live and grow throughout the year?
#tlap
A1: Dynamic learning is what we strive for! Students are asked to make connections between the books and poetry that we teach throughout the year. We also ask them to reach back to the previous year. Cross-curricular work also helps keep things dynamic. #tlap
Q1- working toward being more dynamic. It’s hard when you have prescribed curriculum to follow. Really working my #eduprotocols to finish strong. Fully #fangirl on @jcorippo last weekend! #TLAP
A1: The learning used to be incredibly static in my room! Now, more dynamic; looking forward to using #ShakeUpLearning as inspiration for next year! #tlap
A1 Some things are one and done. Others are used over and over again with content/curriculum change. Using the same structure with a content change improves the learning #TLAP
A1: In social skills class and core-values counseling, we are always learning and growing, sharpening our leadership skills and dynamically shaping our hearts and minds for the future. Every. single. day. #tlap
A1: Perception would be that it's dynamic all the time. Reality suggests otherwise. Lately, I've been basing that measure on whether my students feel like they have to do something vs wanting to do it. When they want to learning is dynamic. #tlap
A1: When I was in the classroom, I would say honestly learning was static at first. But that’s b/c my teaching was static, too. The learning became more dynamic as I grew as an educator. #tlap

Hey #tlap Sean from Orland Pk IL - class was cancelled tonight so I can crash the party for a while. Even better, I get to do it from my patio in a pair of shorts!
A1: When observing classrooms & chatting w/ Ts & Ss about their classrooms, I am always on the lookout for dynamic learning spaces that are safe with a healthy dose of unpredictability #TLAP
A1: I feel that I am on the path to creating more dynamiclessons for my Ss. The book has given me lots of ideas and i look forward to implementing them. It is definitely a process. #tlap#ShakeUpLearning
Q1: Is the learning in your classroom static or dynamic? Are there mostly one-and-done types of activities or does the learning live and grow throughout the year?
#tlap
A1 - Just left teaching 7th grade SS and moved into MS Tech - definitely worked hard to make learning dynamic - @GoogleForEdu helped to design units with choice and audience, which made it more dynamic. New role has me teaming up with Ts to help make learning dynamic #tlap
A1: Learning needs to be dynamic. I am proud of my teachers who have embraced PBL and bring students on a journey of learning, curiosity and engagement. Embrace student interests and let them pursue their passions. #tlap
A1. Using @Seesaw has really helped to reflect on learning throughout the year. Not once and done, then either thrown out or placed in portfolio never to be seen again.
Students also build Current Event Portfolios on Sites throughout year to reflect on what is happening! #TLAP
Q1: Is the learning in your classroom static or dynamic? Are there mostly one-and-done types of activities or does the learning live and grow throughout the year?
#tlap
A1: It depends on what we are doing. Some of what we do is student led, collaborative and ever-changing. Some is more static in the sense that the choices foir the ss do not vary (My weekly blog assignment 4 example) #TLAP
A1: This is a great question & one all Ts should ask themselves about learning in their classroom. I believe mine is dynamic because we constantly look back & see where we’ve been, where we are, & where we are going. #TLAP
Q1: Is the learning in your classroom static or dynamic? Are there mostly one-and-done types of activities or does the learning live and grow throughout the year?
#tlap
A1. My classroom is very dynamic and flexible. It has to be to meet the unique needs of my students. When I find an activity or topic they enjoy, the lesson evolves in unique ways. Students have a say in the way the lessons progress.
#tlap
A1: Dynamic learning occurs as my Ss collaborate in the classroom and online via @Padlet, @Flipgrid, and daily with @Seesaw. Having an authentic audience is SO important to me and my Ss. #tlap
A1: As a principal, in our school we are always building on our learning. One and done doesn't exist because we are NEVER done if we are looking to continuously grow. I need to model this for Ts and Ts need to model this for Ss. #TLAP
Q1: Is the learning in your classroom static or dynamic? Are there mostly one-and-done types of activities or does the learning live and grow throughout the year?
#tlap
A1: in our heart of hearts, we all push for dynamic...until the day-to-day grind, lead us to more static learning because it is way easier. Our job as site leaders is to create that energy and support that keeps teachers motivated to make the switch. #tlap
Q1: Is the learning in your classroom static or dynamic? Are there mostly one-and-done types of activities or does the learning live and grow throughout the year?
#tlap
I think in all my dynamism it is still a bit one and done. I don’t have a singular thread that lasts the whole year. I would like to acieve the this. || Howard here. Full inclusion math sci #tlap
A1. I have tried to do more dynamic learning by changing my curriculum this year but it seems like there has been less retention from unit to unit. So hard to overhaul in the middle of the year. #tlap
A1. I started with static and progressed to dynamic. Getting Ss to make connections and see how they can apply what they are learning to solve physical real world problems! Carry learning beyond the classroom! #tlap
A1 I have worked really hard this year with the Ts I collab w/ to try to create meaningful ongoing connections between skills, content, topics, and themes in an effort to begin to steer away from one and done #tlap#champforkids
A1: I work with K-5 so I need to make sure activities/strategies suggested to Ts are truly dynamic. We try to have a balance of short/long term “learning opportunities” that enhance Ss engagement & understanding. We want our Ss to grow continuously #TLAP#LoveLiteracyLearning
A1 continuing to improve in this area. Have PBL projects that I need to figure out how to keep them going. Math is mostly personalized so that is never static. Trying to incorporate more science and studies into reading and writing to make it more dynamic! #tlap
✨A1: DYNAMIC AND ALWAYS CHANGING! I love trying new things! Offer a menu of choice, but leave room for demonstration of learning using other tools students know as well. Always trying to build on relevance and student interests! ✨#TLAP#ShakeUpLearning
#tlap
Reaching out to Ts in the building, as well as Ts across the digital community, to develop active, personalized learning strategies and techniques. In high school, the more you can surround a student with dynamic Ts, the better the outcomes can be. #tlap
And they are not immediately receptive to the dynamic nature of true learning, or the PIRATE system, but we're getting there. :) One S looked at me and said, "You push us out of our comfort zones." Yes, yes I do. #tlap#ShakeUpLearning
A1 I think I am on a journey from static to dynamic right now. I am moving away from day to day, and trying to create more integrated experiences. #tlap
A2: Teachers are my students these days and I believe the 4 C's should be modeled in PD so they see how to make it happen. Here's an idea: The 4 C's Learning menu https://t.co/FzcqBuINPd#tlap#shakeuplearning
A1 I am trying to get better at making activities dynamic. My Ss are loving genius hour this year! The past month, we have been reflecting on our mastery and working on our choice board. https://t.co/kLSy9qk9Oo#tlap
A2: I try to make sure that i intergrate at least 1 all the time sometimes multiple c's but not always have they been successful. I learn from it and change it for the better. #tlap
A2: I did this daily last year as the STEM teacher. All of my lessons focused on these and student reflected on a rubric. This year I still do but not as talked about, need to get back to it. #tlap
And we need to educate our Ts that their jobs are no longer holding the answers to a test but creating dynamic, personalized academic journeys for students to explore knowledge and learn from their adventure. Hard transition, but NEEDS to happen for 21st century learning. #tlap
A2: Public speaking = communication, so that's an easy one. I trade off on projects where they work collaboratively or independently. I try to help them be creative each time. Using critical thinking is not apparent in each speech, so that is a goal. #tlap
The reflective piece is huge in supporting the learning. Students are cognizant of their own growth which helps to make that learning more permanent. It's a living digital portfolio, so students can look back at any time. #TLAP
My goal this year was always, although I added a 5th gear- actionable feedback. I did not let myself propose anything that didn't have at least one. #tlap
A2: I incorporate the 4C's daily. My Ss surprise me daily with their creativity. Student-led moments are the best and we foster that in our class. #tlap
A2: I strive to integrate one or more of the 4Cs daily, hourly, but weekly is bare minimum. I frequently divide one class period into 3 parts, and one part always has creativity. :) One targets critical thinking, and I build from there. #tlap#ShakeUpLearning
A2 - It requires purposeful planning but at least a tad of each should be at some phase of each lesson, we have to aim for that especially if we are embracing the TLAP practice. #tlap
A2. For my students with special needs, collaboration and critical thinking are implemented in all my lessons. Students need so much modeling and practicing of these skills. Ts often think students can work in group but really look at what is happening during these times.
#tlap
A2 I try to put AT LEAST one C in each lesson. Almost everything we do is collaboration and communication in the Google Tools. I try to do 1-2 virtual field trips per month as well! via https://t.co/nY2qY2ZfgR#tlap
A2: As often as I can, but too often it's looked at as this "extra" thing that is just one step too far for my students. It can take a lot of coaxing, but they usually come around. It just breaks my heart that their joy is buried so deep from years of drill and grill. #tlap
A2: At the very least, I try to apply critical thinking on an almost daily basis in my classroom. Being able to deeply think about worlds and times vastly different than our own is essential to understanding how these historical choices and events were made. #tlap
A2: I feel my class is constantly collaborating & communicating & we do a lot of critical thinking. But the creativity is lacking from the students. I'm creative in how I approach content, but I need Ss to be more creative in how they share that knowledge. #tlap
A1 with the growth make sure students share what they learn with the world. Extent past the classroom. I have students make tutorials on instructables #tlap
A2 Everyday and my Ss told our school board a few months ago when we presented. Totally unscripted and yet so powerful.Thry just rattled off the 4 C’s like it was something we do everyday. I was smiling the whole rest of the presentation 🙌🏼 #tlap
A2: Teachers are my students these days and I believe the 4 C's should be modeled in PD so they see how to make it happen. Here's an idea: The 4 C's Learning menu https://t.co/FzcqBuINPd#tlap#shakeuplearning
A2: I feel like we are always doing at least one of these. Usually more than one! I try to create lessons that encompass it all and they end up taking longer than expected, but more often than not, TOTALLY worth it! I love seeing Ss use them all together! #tlap
A1 I also think that bringing learning back to the overarching enduring understandings for each unit and then tying those together throughout the year helps them make connections. Learning feels ongoing for Ss and it makes sense! #tlap
Hard to assess from here, but your projects may lack some rigor (Check out @BIEpbl) or you may have a disconnect between your projects and your assessment. #tlap
In reply to
@SenorSouderSHS, @ShakeUpLearning, @BIEpbl
A2:✨The 4 C's GO HAND-IN-HAND! Creativity, communication, collaboration, and critcal thinking need to be commonplace in the classroom. These skills are critical for our students' future and need to be practiced daily! ✨#TLAP#ShakeUpLearning
When I collaborate with T's, we always try to ensure 1 or more C's are a foundation of the learning experiences we plan. The 4 C's are the big picture we are always striving to achieve. #tlap
A2: Every day. It can be as simple as students collaborating on discussion questions or as complicated as asking them to create a blog post, but one of the four C's is hit every day. #tlap
A2: We have been diving deep into @KaganOnline structures this year and Ss are enhancing their collaboration. It is amazing to see K Ss learning to coach each other based on their own reasoning and justification. #criticalthinking#collaboration#tlap
A2: I work in a position where I design learning experiences that incorporate these almost daily. I also have 2 more C's, connect and cultivate. Connect relates to empathy and the purpose, cultivate relates to the empowerment of students to drive their own learning. #tlap
A2: I would say I use creativity and communication the most in my lessons - Ss are constantly creating and reflecting on digital portfolios. I try to have 1 on 1 conferences as well. #tlap
A2 - I love thinking 4 Cs when planning. Just set up a @breakoutEDU with @meesterbryant for a tech committee meeting to bring the 4Cs into that space. There will be plenty of critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity as they try to break out! #tlap
A2. Everyday occurrance. One of my goals is to get our Ss using creativity and critical thinking skills to problem solve, In projects we work on, communication and collaboration as well. #tlap
The thing is you don't use them all at once. You can creatively and collaboratively produce an answer to a critical thinking problem, and communicate it effectively. #TLAP
A2: I make sure that every lesson has at least one C. I am working on integrating creativity by allowing students to show their learning using @Flipgrid and @Seesaw. #tlap
No offense, but that's a political answer to a crisis forming since the dawn of the Internet. The boulder, like the national debt, is growing too big to just chip away. Too many kids are missing out and we need bigger levers to push. Move that rock! Move that rock! ;) #tlap
I have always added connection, but never culture. That is something to think about. Building connections between subjects, concepts, knowledge... so important. What can you learn from something else that can connect to this? #tlap
#tlap A2: Ss collaborate EVERY day. Class begins with them in groups going over homework. Even if I'm not in the room, they know how to begin...and they do. Their learning is dependent being able to help each other as I circulate the room.
A1 Dynamic learning sure can be messy; but, it's the way I love teaching in our inquiry-based school. My colleagues & I try to be prepared for a myriad of possibilities; but, always somewhat surprised by the slant the learning takes. #tlap
A2. @kristi_daws recently reminded me that 4 Cs should be included in EVERY LESSON. I even try to include in lesson plans. Lessons have been much more dynamic with inclusion of 4 C's this year, but more more aware since Kristi's reminder! #TLAP#40cfpln
A2: We don't have "Staff Meetings" anymore, we have "Staff Collaboration Time". If it doesn't require collaboration, we don't waste our precious time on it. I have to model what we want to see in classrooms. #Path2Serendipity#TLAP
It's brutal when you ask them to think deeper and figure out how things connect. Too often they just want you to tell them so they can put the answer on the test. Jokes on them - there are no tests! Need to make the connections in their reflections. #tlap
It depends. With our units like Shark Tank and Cutthroat Kitchen, they need to work collaboratively and use their creativity to come up with products for community members to judge. If it's a project like Project Soapbox, it is more about what matters to just them. #tlap
A3: Only seeing Ss for short spurts of time while working with their Ts makes time the biggest constraint. I want to put so much awesome into so little time! #tlap
There is an amazing virtual field trip with EA sports on Wednesday through Discovery! My kids are stoked! https://t.co/tfTUbYYR80 Join in on the fun! #tlap
We aren't as proficient as the experts leading courses but we have been using timer tools and turn takers. From there Ts are exploring using ipads and other devices during the lesson. I would love to dive deeper into google docs or other tools with kagan. #tlap
First couple of years more static with dynamic mixed in as I built my activities. Now it’s virtually 100% dynamic. Everything connects back to prior learning. #tlap
Q1: Is the learning in your classroom static or dynamic? Are there mostly one-and-done types of activities or does the learning live and grow throughout the year?
#tlap
A2 I am a big fan of coding to really work the 4Cs. Had Ss coding in science, math, and in language arts class. So much fun to watch them think through creating with code #tlap
The world is too small for our students to not develop an appreciation for culture. I feel we are losing this aspect of humanity to quickly due to screen time. #TLAP
A3: I 'm the only one out of 7 other Ts willing to do it. The money is not there. The Internet is restricted. The excuses are plenty and the common question is "Will this be on the test?" or "Just tell me what I have to do." Exploration is dead, just tell me the asnwers. #tlap
A3: Convincing parents that you are in fact teaching. Emphasis continues to be on a number grade that means very little. They need reminders that learning how to use the 4Cs and ISTE standards is a way to get Ss career ready (not just into college). #TLAP
A3: I focus too much on the student that is ‘unmotivated’ and sometimes forget that I had 29 other students who were on task and working hard the whole time. #tlap
A2 I try to work in critical thinking in every lesson--I challenge Ss to think about things differently, see other sides of issues, and solve problems on own. #tlap
A3 Patience & time I have to remember to slow down trying to fit too much into one class can be counterproductive Let the Ss drive the pace & don't rush them #tlap
A3: i think for me 3rd yr T the challenge that i face is knowing what the #iste standards are & intergrating them with the 4 c's. also I think its a lack of not knowing what all the 4 c's can look like. having issues with not having access to tech to do it #tlap#stilllearning
A3: As I learned from @spencerideas, I can't keep adding to the plate. I need to adjust what's on it and find what works best. Each day may look different, but that's how we #ShakeUpLearning, right?!? #tlap
Alison from 4th grade, San Angelo TEXAS...
A2: easier than ever with tech tools like #google shared slides, @Flipgrid and #padlet. Such a golden era for educators! #tlap
We have morning huddles before the start of every day. Reflect on yesterday. Plan for today. Celebrate success. Challenge. Inspire. All hands in. #Path2Serendipity#tlap
A2: We don't have "Staff Meetings" anymore, we have "Staff Collaboration Time". If it doesn't require collaboration, we don't waste our precious time on it. I have to model what we want to see in classrooms. #Path2Serendipity#TLAP
A3: One of the biggest barriers I face is time. I always want to be able to do more PBL with my Ss, but time constraints and mandatory testing get in the way. #tlap#ShakeUpLearning
The problem is unique for each district, but I think this is where districts need to come together like schools within the district, or teachers within the school. As we are seeing in WV, AZ, CO, and OK, if we'll come together and demand change, it can happen. #tlap
A3: Time are getting out of their comfort zone are the barriers that staff struggle with. Not always are they unwilling to try new things or incorporate the 4C's & #ISTE standards, but they often feel unsure of the when and how #tlap
A3: the shift should be to focusing on the skills - challenge to inform parents about the importance of developing these skills THROUGH the content. #tlap
A3: Helping others see the value in these standards. Because they aren't "measured" on a typical test, they are often overlooked and underappreciated. #tlap
A3: Time, lack of resources, admin support, standardized testing...the list could go on and on...but here’s the thing...
#tlap educators don’t let these things stand in their way to #ShakeUpLearning
A3 - in my tech integration role, I am dependent on Ts to set up their classes in a way that embraces the 4Cs and ISTE standards. Trying to move thinking from just tech skills to creating dynamic learning environments. A fun, and new, challenge for me! #tlap
A3 Our district has scripted curriculum, I end up just creating a lot of my own lessons and just using it as an outline. It's hard to plan everything. I'm the only science T in 5th grade, so it can be overwhelming at times. #tlap
A2 Always try include something. My strength is collaboration, creativity is my weakness. Always reminding myself that Ss can show their learning in many different ways. #tlap
A3: The barriers are really not barriers. It's just understanding how it all fits together. If you spend too much time worrying about all the standards, the meaning of the lesson can get lost #tlap
A3. Some challenges I have faced are the inherent fixed mindsets innate in our students. The 4 Cs are def more rigorous than trad SIT ADN GET. Loved seeing their minds stretched throughout year as they have owned more of learning process. Worth the pain in the beginning! #TLAP
A3: I would love to include different kinds of technology into their presentations. I give them different options, but Ss tend to stick to what they know. I need to learn new ways to do this in my class. #tlap
A#. My biggest barriers are lack of tech resources in our school and a T mindset that worksheet packets is the best instructional approach. I have been fighting for instructional practices that implements the 4Cs in my school and working to get ed tech in the hands of all.
#tlap
A2 in our district we have added Citizenship as our 5th C! In my position as a GRT I work hard to incorporate the 5 Cs in my lessons as well as when collab w Ts. We have Ss rubrics that align the Cs to the tasks #tlap
A3 Many parents don't understand the value of the 4 C's education was much different for them. They are mark oriented. It can be challenging time wise too, with all the curriculum standards #TLAP
A3:I think we need to keep looking at our lesson design and asking how we can dive deeper.Critical thinking comes when Ts take an ordinary lesson and flip it into something that makes them wonder and explore. From there they need time to discuss, reason, etc. w/the material. #tlap
A3: skills should be taught and learned through an integrated approach with an #inquiry lens and #socialjustice fused into it...develop those habits of mind at the same time. #tlap
A3: One of my biggest struggles is time. Which is just silly, because I know we make time for things you're confident in. Which goes with not being confident in knowing the iste standards. #tlap
Yes! I've played around a bunch with voice comments as well with Google doc. Love using @KaizenaHQ for this. Makes it so I can "meet" digitally with a few students while meeting live with a few others. #tlap
A3: Time for sure and making sure Ss receive the appropriate differentiation for all! Conformity! Getting Ss to be okay with being different than their peers! #tlap
Same here! This is the hardest one for me. I think there is a lot of critical thinking inherent in collaboration and creativity, but want to create more real world situations where the students are critically thinking. #TLAP
A3: Time can be a barrier, but we can be more efficient w/ time I have with Ss. Balance is key, but as with most things, the biggest barrier tends to be the limitations I place on myself with traditional thinking. I'm changing to more fluid thinking. #tlap#ShakeUpLearning
Yes and No. Have you seen the tests lately? I'm not sure what they're testing for besides brain melt. How about we stop with the standardizing and start with assessing? How about we trust Ts with their Ss to effectively measure mastery through a variety of assessments? #tlap
A3: time is always the issue, but helping students understand the growth mindset and being consistent with rituals and languages I help them get there/change their mindset. #tlap
Had Ss code a Choose your own adventure story they worked on in language arts class, which they 2nd graders came in and read. First year doing it and it has tons of potential! #tlap
A3: I am lucky that at my school I am not experiencing barriers that I can think of right now. We have 1:1 technology, and incredible tech facilitators. The kids are tech savvy as well. I love to have them help me create new ways to incorporate technology. #TLAP
Unless they have been told they are creative by an art teacher, many don’t seem to think they can be. I try to tell them they are. It’s the whole fixed mindset idea. #tlap
I want to get more into coding-I did it in HS and loved it. I had a few Ss trying out a new app in @MrsGarrettsK kindergarten class and I was instantly hooked again. #tlap
A3. The key is balance, but focusing on each Ss as an individual learner. Our school system is doing Mastery Learning. Which allows Ss more time to focus to learn before they move on. #tlap
A3. As I create project opportunities for Ss, we apply the four Cs but I have no idea how to walk students through the reflection and enduring understanding process. #tlap
A4: I love @HeckAwesome's Dynamic Learning Experience, Project Wonder, that helps students explore the things they are curious about. Check it out: https://t.co/cEBxJVMBcG#tlap
Try a tic-tac-toe board of options. Once they have chosen a tool, they have to chose another the next time. Put something new and really cool in the center. #tlap
A4: This year was the introduction of Genius Hour. It started off really great but then kind of fizzled out which was my bad for dropping the ball. #tlap
A4: Model Questioning and let the students ask questions. It's important to always ask, "How do you know?" and use "Tell me more..." Students will then look for more #tlap
A4: I provide students with opportunities to explore, learn, and create. We use #designthinking and the #LAUNCH cycle a lot now. I'm AMAZED at what my 2nd graders do! #tlap
A.3 The biggest barrier for me is I get bored with what I am doing and forget students still need to experience the same things I have done effectively in my classroom in the past. It is a finding a balance between my ADHD and theirs. #TLAP
A4: Ts need to take a backseat and let students ask Qs but we have to teach them how to ask good Qs based on their curiosity. Learning needs to be more open and flexible. #tlap
A3: ✨CRAZY GOOD! The 4 C's may appear crazy or chaotic to a passerby, but it's learning at it's finest! Students are communicating, collaborating, creating, and thinking critically. I doesn't get better, it's toal #TLAP.✨#ShakeUpLearning
A4: By asking lots and lots of questions and by not having all the answers ready to go. I often like for the discussion to go off the beaten path or for students to show their interest in their work; making connections with the content through their unique lens. #tlap
A4 In science I am trying to start with more phenomena. It easier to have their attention when I can be like "watch this" ok now lets figure out why that happens. #tlap
Many of my Ps are professionals who work in modern offices. I email them specific celebrations of how their S is developing the same 4C's they use at their offices. #tlap
I don’t answer their tangent questions specifically. I ask them more questions and they work to figure it out. Sometimes I do it because I don’t know the answer myself and I tell them that. #tlap
A4: I allow them to ask ?s. I also allow them to work on projects and activities that they are interested in. Recently, I allowed them to pose questions about my trip to France using @Flipgrid. They were able to watch my videos and ask me questions based on what they saw #tlap
A4: By giving them a voice in their learning. Give them the shell and let them fill in the blanks. A 5th Gr T at my school did a Genius Hour and LOVED it. It was AMAZING to see their ideas. I would Love to see that idea grow #tlap
A4 Student Led (Choice) and Self Paced provide them an opportunity to explore and you an opportunity to become a facilitator It will AMAZE you if you don't already do it. #tlap
A3:) When you teach Functional SPED, many, many things other kids & teachers take for granted are our challenge! 😊The 4 Cs can look a little different in a classroom with students that may not be able to move, read, think or “play”. #tlap
A4: I give my Ss CHOICE! My Ss create character trading cards for a novel we read together. They added an empathy rating system to it & shared their final work via @ozobots in @Seesaw! #tlap
...and by not answering all of there ?s Ts need to turn Ss ?s back on them "What do you think?" "How would you explain that?" Ts need wait time to let Ss think #tlap
A4. This happens through allowing more choice.
For examples, in my 6th grade classes this year, students have explored many places of perosnal interest through Google Tourbuilder, then shared their learning through screencasts. #TLAP
A3 I think sometimes we are trying to make it more difficult than it has to be!I have seen teachers sike themselves out at planning bc they were making a task so much more difficult than it had to be! Frame the lesson provide a Ss friendly rubric and let kids own the work #tlap
A4 Model curiousity. Show Ss how you're still learning, talk about the books & articles you're reading, tell Ss when you don't know the answer to a question & model how you look up sources #tlap
That is why you are a "Merchant of Hope" as @casas_jimmy would describe. Our hope is that we can change the paradigm into something meaningful and worthwhile for our kids. So that they can be the ultimate generation of change to move this country, and world, WAY forward. #tlap
A3 Lots of great answers for this question. I agree that b/c of fixed mindsets of Ps &Ss they don't always get that learning is a process and it's not all about that grade! #tlap
A4: give them a visual or artifact and do a "See, Think, Wonder" protocol. I put a chocolate bar on each group's desk and it turned into a conversation about #childlabor and the #environment! #tlap
A4. Keeping them guessing as to what's coming next in learning! It's an adventure! Not giving up the plot as to why their learning something until the end! #tlap
A4. Genius Hour projects!! Do one yourself. Sometimes when they ask me a question , I simply say Google it and help them do it. Model what you do when you are curious. #tlap
A4 Asking some what if questions, or how could, also through #pbl and giving them an opportunity to choose their learning path, of course I am often curious in class, thinking out loud and asking for their input #tlap
A4: When students ask questions in class that will extend their learning, I reward it. I encourage them to look up the answers and inform the class on the answer. They get to become mini experts and teach the class something new. #TLAP
a4 Inquiry learning is curiosity based. Writing connected lessons from scratch would be crazy complicated. It's easier to get a great resource & build on it #tlap
A4: Possibly posting a daily topic or subject on the board every day. Allow the students to explore and ask questions about this topic. See what the students can come up with. Possibly explore some of these questions together as a class #tlap
YAAASS!! And really listen! In The #Path2Serendipity, there is section on CRAFT-ing a need-satisfying classroom & the "A" in CRAFT stands for "Ask, Don't Tell". Simple strategy but so effective--just ask Ss and you will be amazed at the curiosity sparked! #TLAP#Path2Serendipity
A4: I give my Ss CHOICE! My Ss create character trading cards for a novel we read together. They added an empathy rating system to it & shared their final work via @ozobots in @Seesaw! #tlap
GREAT point! Patience is a virtue, but one that requires trust on both ends. That takes time and commitment to building that culture in the early days and weeks of the year. You have to #Culturize your learning community to meet those expectations. #tlap
A4: One of the ways to help Ss practice the art of curiousity is to not shut down questions Ss have that are off topic. There are times you must travel down that rabbit trail. Sometimes a S follows the trail alone, & sometimes we go as a class. #tlap#ShakeUpLearning
A4 If Ss ask a question, don't shut it down. Let them explore it and google it. Our Ss are rocking genius hour this year as well! We have a killdeer bird on our playground guarding her egg and some Ss are researching the bird on Friday now! #tlap
A4: Start w/ modeling my own curiosity. Ss need to know Ts are curious about the world as well. Allow students to ask wonder questions & provide opportunities to research answers to them. Be willing to follow Ss curiosities in them moment, when possible. #tlap
A4: By answering their questions with questions of your own. When you put the burden of learning back on them, they are able to think critically and express creatively what they have mastered! #tlap
A4 I find I have expose my students to a lot of experiences, books to build curiosity. They sometimes don't realize what they don't know. Working on the global goals has opened their minds to life outside their communities #TLAP
A4: @DoInkTweets green screen time has been so fun. Ss are creating writing projects that come alive. @renathunderhawk and I model this in our announcements as well each Friday and let the interest grow from there. #tlaphttps://t.co/kfxPefBOxk
A4: Give students the end goal, but allow them the opportunity to choose their own adventure to reach the goal. Forcing students to imagine enables curiosity to flow. #tlap
A4: With teachers, I feel like we have created a healthy culture where they can feel comfortable questioning the status quo. And great conversations tend to stem from this. #tlap
A4: I love hitting them with open ended, bizarre questions that make them want to know more. Give em a taste, an appetizer to get them to want to dig deeper. #downtherabbithole#starshiptroopers#tlap#cvtechtalk
Yes, free questioning time. Learning how to fine tune questions to create questions that will allow for more knowledge to be gained. Looking at what makes up a Googleable and Non-Googleable Question. We need to practice these skills for it will create better thinkers. #tlap
A4: Ts need to take a backseat and let students ask Qs but we have to teach them how to ask good Qs based on their curiosity. Learning needs to be more open and flexible. #tlap
A4 don't hold them back! If they got and idea or ask a question, I encourage them to try it out / experiment. Gradually they begin to become more curious and take bigger risks with things #tlap
A4: share random ideas and thoughts that go through my mind daily. When they ask a question, I encourage them to look it up and find answers and share. We have a wonder wall and recently each Ss made their own to begin Passion Projects! Get Ss more excited abt what they ❤️#tlap
A2 Communication is always present in my assessments for Ss with presentations, group reads, or conferencing with me. Creativity is used when we make our models. #TLAP
A3: Havjng Ts see how all of the Cs CAN be incorporated so they aren’t done in isolation. They should be seen as PART of the lesson NOT an added task that we require our Ss to complete & our Ts to evaluate, right @khoggardGRT#tlap#LoveLiteracyLearning#champforkids
A2. 1st grdrs collaborated in creating this play on the Power of Plants. It all began w/ an amazing bk; morphed into costumes, chants & script-writing; & ended on stage teaching parents & the whole school community. And it was all theirs! 4 C's give kids choice & voice. #tlap
A4: I like to respond to Ss Qs with "That's a great question. How are we going to find the answer to that?" (Sometimes I think that actually stops them from asking questions) #tlap
A4: Start w/ modeling my own curiosity. Ss need to know Ts are curious about the world as well. Allow students to ask wonder questions & provide opportunities to research answers to them. Be willing to follow Ss curiosities in the moment, when possible. #tlap
A4: We are currently researching for a podcast unit. So fun reading the thoughts/ideas that have been sparked! S couldn’t stop listening to shark attack podcast 2day, others: real crime and middle school stories #tlap
A4 When I was teaching 2nd grade we had a @Padlet Wonder Wall where Ss would record questions that came up during class that we didn't have time to delve into. Ss could find the answers during independent work time. #tlap
Q5: Does your school allow students to publish online to a global audience? (If not, find out why!) If so, how are you giving students a global audience for their work? #tlap
✨A4: IF THEY BUILD IT, THEY WILL LEARN! When we allow students to construct understanding of the content, make connections, and demonstrate their learning with creative choice they will not only learn, but they will REMEMBER!✨#TLAP#ShakeUpLearning
A4: I used to have a poster in my classroom that said “the best angle to approach any problem is the try-angle”. I didn’t want Ss to be afraid of making mistakes. Instead using them to personalize learning. Also love open ended math problems #tlap
A3: The 4 C’s are a student centered method of lesson design. Getting my teachers to let go of “control” and teacher centered lesson design is a huge struggle. When they do embrace it, the lightbulb switches on! #tlap
A4 If students are interested or curious about something, we take the time to investigate it—even if it’s whale flatulence. Curiosity is what science is about! #tlap
Molly, great idea. They do this with the Shark Tank unit because the Sharks can ask them anything for 5-7 minutes. I should do this more often with their other speeches. Thank you. #tlap
Nope. Wasn’t even hahah literally 2 seconds to say hi! Just got home from school and now need to go clean up a mess upstairs 😩 want to trade spots, Allyson?! #tlap
A5: Remember, publishing student work doesn't have to risk safety or privacy. You do not have to publish names or pictures to give them an audience. K-12 should be given a worldwide audience! I have even more ideas here: https://t.co/ewaBO1hYy3#tlap
Last semester Ss got to choose topics from my list. This semester our librarian helped them explore possible topics & choose. Ss have been so much more on target. More specifically, SENIORS have been more on target with 5 days to go. #tlap
A5: As soon as students realize someone other than their teacher is seeing their work, a shift happens! They suddenly care much more about the quality of their work! #tlap
A4: I try to model curiosity by engaging with them and asking lots of Qs. We talk about who might know that answer and how their significant others might answer it or find out. I love asking Qs that don't have a right or wrong answer, so they can wrestle & grow. #tlap
Today I let my S choose a challenging Q, watch a video, then try the related Q on my Peardeck slides. I gave 150 Ss individualized feedback w/o leaving my desk. Then they clicked on an extra practice link for their Q. #tlap
Q5: Does your school allow students to publish online to a global audience? (If not, find out why!) If so, how are you giving students a global audience for their work? #tlap
I am teaching them public speaking skills. With the Shark Tank unit, they also learn about patents, profit margins, equity, etc. With Cutthroat Kitchen, they look at nutritional facts too. #tlap
Q5: Does your school allow students to publish online to a global audience? (If not, find out why!) If so, how are you giving students a global audience for their work? #tlap
A5: Yes our school allows S's to publish online to a global audience. I have not yet jumped into giving students a global audience for their work written. However S's have been talking to other S's on topics via @flipgrid. Wanting to let them publish for the end of the yr. #tlap
Q5: Does your school allow students to publish online to a global audience? (If not, find out why!) If so, how are you giving students a global audience for their work? #tlap
A5: We publish out a lot of items through our school social media. I also had students build websites to educate potential museum visitors on the background details of the Roaring Twenties. Shared out a few sites that I thought really hit the mark! #tlap
A4 by letting them discover for themselves what I might have just told them in the past, like today I challenged them to put the four basic coins in any order they could explain, my favorite was by mint Year, and alphabetical of the person on the coin #tlap
A5: We blog and publish to the web. We compete (Exploravision and Biomimicry YDC). We @Flipgrid in public grids. More recently we Make and Share on KQED Learn (https://t.co/4PaZ0uxH2Z) #TLAP
A5: There are so many legalistic restrictions on what can be distributed outside the district with student's names, faces, or identifying info that it's nearly impossible to Tweet or publicize their amazing creations. It's a culture of "no" first, then maybe later. #tlap
A5: Ss are allowed to share their work with a global audience. My Ss create websites that showcase their work with our partner school. They also share their learning through @Flipgrid. #tlap#ShakeUpLearning
A5: This year, Ss have been posting and reflecting in their digital portfolios. This has been a new experiment this year, and I plan on using them more often next year. But they are using Google sites and publishing. It’s great to share links with parents through email #tlap
A5: My Ss use Google Sites to blog and share their learning, and we connect with classrooms through Mystery Hangouts, @Flipgrid@RecapThat and with shared Google Slides & Drive folders. #tlap#ShakeUpLearning
A3: Helping Ts see how all the Cs can be PART of a lesson so they aren’t done in isolation. They should NOT be viewed as an added task that we require our Ss to complete & our Ts to evaluate, right @khoggardGRT#tlap#LoveLiteracyLearning#champforkids
Q5: Does your school allow students to publish online to a global audience? (If not, find out why!) If so, how are you giving students a global audience for their work? #tlap
A5: We are working on finding a balance between keeping our littlest learners safe and still give them a platform to share their work with an audience and really own their work! #tlap#GardensLearn
Q5: Does your school allow students to publish online to a global audience? (If not, find out why!) If so, how are you giving students a global audience for their work? #tlap
A5: Our students have designed solutions for non-profits, the city of Nashville, along with experts in the community. We ensure that their voice gets heard in an authentic way. #tlap
A5 I tweet out my Ss work and brag on them! Next year my goal is to have Ss blog. It was on my list for this year, but it got buried in the million other things. I'm going to work on it after STAAR next week and it is a goal for next year! #tlap
A5: We have done this via #flipgrid and Ss are currently making weebly accounts that I want them to share our. It is definitely on my “to try” list to get Ss academically involved on Twitter or Instagram, but it will have to wait until next year. #tlap
Q5: Does your school allow students to publish online to a global audience? (If not, find out why!) If so, how are you giving students a global audience for their work? #tlap
A5: Yes! My students created blogs, websites, YouTube channels, GoFundMe campaigns, and Instagram accounts to share their 20 Time project work with the world! One student even turned his passion for comic books into a trading business! I’ve never seen Ss more eager to work. #TLAP
Taking me back to my classroom days! I did a project where Ss built collaboration spaces for our room. A reading box, collaboration benches w/ a coffee table. I brought in a saw/drill and Ss did the rest! Check out my old class twitter @5th_Carlin#tlap
A5 - luckily, yes! There have been some projects, like a Crusades Rap Battle that we posted all the performances to YouTube, that I had to reach out specifically to parents. Normally Ss and Ts have free range to publish online. I love having the authentic audiences! #tlap
A5: My students blog and use Twitter from time to time. They love it when I post their work or create a hashtag for them on Twitter as well. They have started asking me if I am going to post certain assignments to Twitter---they love it. #tlap
A5 Other Ts in my district and I love to tweet what our Ss are doing. Many Ts are using amazing tools like @Seesaw and @Flipgrid to provide Ss w/ a broader audience. #tlap
#tlap A5- we use Twitter to show what we’re learning and we also use flipgrid. We also use Edmodo to make partnerships with other classrooms around the globe. Finally we use @dfcusa and @EmpaticoOrg
A5: I understand concerns about student privacy, but we can maintain some privacy while giving Ss an opportunity to share their work. It's not black and white. #tlap
Whenever students create movies of their work like PECHA KUCHAs they must always publish on my YouTube channel to the Public. Their VOICE is to be Valued.
#TLAP
A5 #tlap the sooner your kids start seeing themselves as scholars the better. None of this idea that critics (I'm a literature teacher) or theorists are somehow to be put on a pedastool. For younger kids? #MysterySkype get them to reach out to an expert!
A4: we allow students multiple opportunities to ask questions in an environment where curiosity is emphasized, encouraged & praised! #tlap#LoveLiteracyLearning
A5: My students do this through @Flipgrid. Each of my students have a #GridPal. They will be creating math word problems for their #GridPals to solve. #tlap
A5: Some of our students publish blogs or share via classroom twitter. I'm always sharing everything that goes on via twitter and FB #tlap - We should do more with this
it is awesome, just got 4 new responses on ours today for our #pbl and we connected originally through @edmodo and now use @Flipgrid to connect w SPanish speaking Ss, it is great! #tlap
In reply to
@TynansClass, @Flipgrid, @edmodo, @Flipgrid
A5: Our students have designed solutions for non-profits, the city of Nashville, along with experts in the community. We ensure that their voice gets heard in an authentic way. #tlap
A5: collaborated with @bmilla84 and @MrsCford_tweets classes this year in our Amazing Race in Culinary. Brandi’s 1st grade classe made google slide for teams & Stefanie’s 8th graders made logos for the team’s names. #tlap
Q5: Does your school allow students to publish online to a global audience? (If not, find out why!) If so, how are you giving students a global audience for their work? #tlap
A5 Our students can publish work on Google Sites but they are protected under the district domain. I want to find a better way to give my students an audience, share experiment data, etc. #tlap
A4: Genius time. Maker sessions. When a Ss asks a good Q I try to turn into an action - How warm is the terrarium. I wonder how we could track this? #tlap
I have parents sign a permission for Twitter/Facebook sharing I keep a list & show as few faces as possible Its the Ss work, not their image, that is important to share #tlap
A5b: This is a great time to discuss copyright, internet safety, and digital citizenship with Ss! These "boring" (as my Ss call them) topics become more exciting as they are relevant! #tlap
A5 we haven't 'published' anything but we have participated in #globalcollaboration projects. On one of them, each S created an Eric Carle type of artwork. We have some tech issues I'm working through at my school but hope to do more collaboration next year #TLAP
I love Google Sites. I think it is perfect for the classroom. If you're going for more sophisticated features, you may want to consider another platform, but has been great for my students to share and curate work! #TLAP
But they deserve the credit and there is nothing better than seeing a student beam with pride over their accomplishment being recognize beyond their parents or teachers. Just having that acknowledgement can shrink the "Confidence Void" with which so many students struggle. #tlap
A5 have students write tutorials on their creations. Why learn it, if you don’t share it. Started posting on Wikispaces and moved to @Instructable#TLAP
Finding outside community projects is still something I'm working on. I imagine it creates a powerful and memorable learning experience for the students! #tlap
Q3: Simply a lack of time. As a #CTE teacher, almost every lesson is hands-on PBL, but there are days I just wish we had more time to dive deeper. #tlap
A6: I love to use Google Connected Classrooms to help students connect with authors, experts, organizations like NASA, and other classrooms! https://t.co/vBoY0rk0i0#tlap
It depends on the assignment - our district has a hashtag. My school posts are usually RT by our school as well. If it's a big event, we use hashtags :-) #tlap
A6: using @flipgrid has been my main go to for this year. I've done a couple of virtual fieldtrips but I am trying to expand and add different ways that I can do this better #tlap
A4 #tlap I love using the shoulder shrug, don’t answer their questions make them find out for themselves. #IBPYP provocations are great too, just leave an object or a message somewhere in the room.
A4 We live the lives of inquirers together. We use tools that scientists, astronomers and naturalists use. We pose ?s and learn new terms. We read constantly. We read and write through the lenses of learners. The things that we learn change us. #tlap
Can you use Blogger or another blog platform with a closed audience to start? Find parents to commit to follow blogs and comment. Keeps it contained and controlled at the same time as providing authentic audience. #tlap
A5: We don't publish to a global audience. I do videotape each presentation and they are shared with their parents and other classmates. Privacy makes sharing of videos a little more difficult. I need to come up with a project that involves videos with other classes. #tlap
Q5: Does your school allow students to publish online to a global audience? (If not, find out why!) If so, how are you giving students a global audience for their work? #tlap
A6: I used to do projects that were centered on how math is used in the real world. One student favorite was creaitng a questionnaire then creating an accurate pie chart including arc length and central angle measure #tlap
A6: I’m lucky enough to teach high school social studies, so anything regarding current events, I love having authentic conversations with my S’s. #tlap
A6: We participated in a global @padlet and @Flipgrid with @SEANJFAHEY for the One Word kickoff to the new year! Also, we use Google Expeditions! #tlap
A6: Really working on more 360 videos to create virtual field trips. I know I'm lucky to live near a city like Chicago w/ so many resources. Now trying to share some w/ Ts in rural areas. #tlap
Agreed. Maybe @ShakeUpLearning and @jmattmiller can speculate on the future of Google Sites sometime on @GTeacherTribe Podcast???? Would love to see more formatting versatility, but it's pretty rigid as is. #tlap

✨A5: STOP, COLLABORATE, AND LISTEN... GLOBALLY! It's so important that students not only have the opportunity to connect and share locally but globally as well. ✨#TLAP#ShakeUpLearning
A6. I am proud to teach in a Duel Language school with teachers from all over the world. We embrace all the different cultures. I like to facetime with my family all over the country while my students use Apple Maps to figure out where my family is.
#tlap
A6: Being a social studies teacher, I bring the world in almost daily to my students. However, connecting them to the world is a larger uphill climb and one I often stumble to achieve effectively. #tlap
A6 Virtual Field Trips are amazing. https://t.co/nY2qY2ZfgR is a great resource I have used all year! I wrote a blog post about breaking down your classroom walls for some examples and resources! https://t.co/UJ1SukV6P4#tlap
A6 - still working on connecting more globally. It's on the list for next year to support Global Issues class in finding experts to connect with. #tlap
A6 We participated in World Read Aloud Day @SkypeClassroom, #BunceeBuddies, Google Hangouts and this week we are participating in World Record Wednesday SDG's with @Flipgrid#TLAP
A6 thanks to @zelfstudie my S’s have interacted w/ Bangladesh, Ireland, Austria, South Africa, Canada, India and many more, @EmpaticoOrg connects us easily w/ other classes around the world and @MicrosoftEDU & @SkypeClassroom & @zoom_us bring the world in & my S’s out #tlap
A6. We've done several different #globalcollaboration projects. My Ss see the @googlehangouts_ screen & get excited. We also have Ss share about their cultures & put their names on a class map. We have also read a book about schools from several countries. #TLAP
#tlap A6 We have done a couple of cultural conversations this year. Recently, our sociology class spoke with a class in Argentina 🇦🇷 over the issue of gender inequality. Amazing to see how similar both countries are on issues such as wage and treatment. Great opportunity!
Such a powerful tool. We had an author speak to our seniors who were reading his book in our new War Lit class. What a great opportunity to hear from the source. #tlap
A6: last year I helped a teacher use Google Slides and Padlet to have Ss from different class periods collaborate an research project. End results was an interactive timeline in padlet, super cool #tlap
This was my second unit with Scratch, the first was w/ 6th grade science, and admittedly, I didn't know too much before starting. I was open w/ Ss and made one of the goals how to effectively search for solutions online #tlap
A5 I said something about tweeting Ss work in one of my 3 gr classes and they all were saying “put me on the twitter” Here they are building Rube Goldberg 😂😂😂 #tlap
A6 I encourage students to reach out to experts in the field. We come up with questions and send emails. Many are ignored but sometimes we get lucky and with replies from all kinds of scientists! #tlap
A4: By letting them explore and “play” w/content I’m teaching. They’re so used to following instructions, they sometimes get lost when I let them think for themselves & let curiosity run free, but it’s imperative they become critical thinkers & creative problem solvers! #tlap
A2: In culinary it’s an integral part of what Ss do everyday. Communicating while collaborating in teams to critically think and create. They never cease to amaze me! Empowered learners! #tlap
A6: I struggle in this area. But, teachers do cool things with Skype. It’s a stretch, but I love using Google Maps street views to do virtual tours. I would to incorporate more VR next year. #tlap
We did two twitter chats last year. CNN10 host and Kazu Kibuishi - Amulet graphic novel creator. I found them by accident. I don't see many of these lately. #tlap
#tlap A6- I love this question as I have really focused this year on making global connections - we use Skype - we also take part in global projects like this one https://t.co/oc1UUwL1cT@zelfstudie 🌍so fun!
#tlap A6 Also spoke with a class in Monterrey Mexico 🇲🇽 about current issues affecting both countries. They were very interested about the current leadership of the US. Both sides learned to agree to disagree. Great opportunity for our students to learn/share with others.
Yes! When my mom traveled to China a few years back (manufacturer visits to create her patented product), she skyped my Ss daily. It was amazing! #tlap
A5: collaborated with @bmilla84 and @MrsCford_tweets classes this year in our Amazing Race in Culinary. Brandi’s 1st grade classe made google slide for teams & Stefanie’s 8th graders made logos for the team’s names. #tlap
A.6 I use documentaries like FLOW and SEX LIES and Cigarettes to bring the world into my classroom and then have students explore global to act local. #TLAP
A7: Working on self-evaluation with 360 camera. I want to be able to see more than a stagnant image of me teaching. I want to see how Ss respond to prompts & challenges. #tlap
A6: I have had speakers come in to my speech class, but I would like to do that more often. In my @NaNoWriMo Novel Writing Club, we bring in a lot of YA authors and/or do Google Hangouts with them. #tlap
