A1 Making classroom connections is a valuable life skill for today's students. Showing our Ss how to connect with others is so positive and helps build stronger skill sets. It helps cover the 4Cs especially collaboration and communication. And it's loads of fun. #LaEdChat
A1: Because I think that it opens up their worlds to so many more possibilities beyond the four wall that they see everyday. It opens them literally to a whole new world! #LaEdChat@lacueorg
A2: In our district they have done chats about books, mystery hangouts, math mysteries, and even discussed service learning projects with other classes. #LaEdChat@lacueorg
A2: Two stick out the most! 1 was when my students connected with M.I.T.'s robotics student.and the other was a classroom up north that was getting a lot of snow at the time! The loved our accents and asked us about crawfish..lol It was so amazing to see the aha moments #LaEdchat
A2: I began making connections with other classes back in 2004 with Skye calls and participation in Projects by Jen. We have done read alouds, weather data gathering, Mystery Location Calls, taught others about Mardi Gras and played competitive Kahoot games. #LaEdChat@lacueorg
@lacueorg#LAEdchat I'm actually connecting w/ @STEMGirlHolly tomorrow (she is at our feeder school) so our classes can discuss their projects in Robotics to inspire them to stick with our #STEM track. My class is also connecting with a @verizon Engineer for #EngineeringWeek

A3: skype site has some suggestions, also i've had some interest in connecting with classrooms from teachers in different PLN's such as a fb group i'm in; lot of other classrooms working on similar content #laedchat
Want to connect with other schools via Google Hangout in celebration of Read Across America Day on Friday, March 1st. Check out the Read Across America Connection! #LAEDCHAT@lacueorghttps://t.co/i1l9pbKcb7
#LaEdChat Students gain empathy. It expands their world, and they learn from the other students diversity and different thinking. It opens their minds.
Here's an opportunity to connect with other schools via Google Hangout in celebration of Read Across America Day on Friday, March 1st. #LAEDCHAT@lacueorg
Great idea!! One year one of the high schools dressed up as Green Eggs and Ham and then read online for the younger students at one of the elementary schools. It was really cool! #LaEdChat@lacueorg
A4: Dr. Suess Day. Also, we're taking part in a grant from LSU Ag and will be planting and growing our very own gardens! Would be awesome to connect with another classroom that has some advice in this area! #LaEdChat
A4: #LaEdChat@lacueorg How about Women's History Month and March Madness. I believe these would be good opportunities to connect and lots of opportunities for creativeness.
#LaEdChat@lacueorg we are focusing on all things #STEM at my school in March & we are screaming our Magnet theme @PFM_Magnet...would love to connect with another #Coding focused class
In past years, I've had my students research Mardi Gras, make a Google slideshow, come dressed in costumes and present to other classes via Google Hangout. We ended doing a second line dance. Always a fun time. Had others sign up using a Google form. #LaEdChat@lacueorg

A5: Brusly High School teacher (LA state teacher of the year) @2018LATOY & I just talked about connecting! She is leading EdRising students. We are right down the street from each other :) I do think we overlook our own neighboors; good reminder & may look into this soon! #laedchat
A5: I always make my first Google Hangout of the year with a class in my school (usually across the hall) so I can check out my vidoe, audio etc. and teach the Ss how to properly participate in a video conference call. Takes the pressure off when connecting with others. #LaEdChat
#LAEdchat@lacueorg I started connecting with @AndreDSmithJr3 who is 2 doors down out of necessity lol. Something simple as needing a flyer/logo/pic/brochure (he teaches digital media) worked for connecting our classes. Plus, he is already my work bff lol.
I had a Skype buddy class in 2009 in Kansas. Each month @janwells and I made a plan to connect our two classes for a project each month. Built our confidence and lead to some wonderful opportunities to connect with others. #LaEdChat
A6: Good question! I think you have to emphasize how many skills the students gain from this activity. They are communicating and problem solving! So worth the time! #LaEdChat@lacueorg
A6: Turn naysayers into YAYsayer by inviting them to take part. Also remember to invite your admin into your room when you are doing a video conference. My principal loved being a part of our Oreo stacking challenge against another classroom. #LaEdChat@lacueorg
A6:time is always an excuse if we allow it to https://t.co/LtUnnBIAgb dad always told me there's always time, but you have to make time for what https://t.co/uXlplWhR6T's important to give our Ss experiences that enhance their learning!Make the time for the priorities #LAEdChat
I've been working on myself to cultivate the relationships of those with whom I'm already connected. I'm actually an introvert so I'm working to become reach out to others, just because. People like @Drtamssen@plnaugle@2018LATOY my #OVAcademy and the #LAEDCHAT Family!
#A6#LAEdchat look at the response. See how your students' work changes after they connect with another class and see things from another point of view.
A7: I was just thinking about this last week & this helped give me the nudge to set it as a priority; so thank you! And definitely helped me think to connect to help us with our garden! #laedchat@lacueorg
Some shameless self-promotion. Check out my book written by @cybraryman1 and @wkrakower after we connected on projects for a couple of years. #LaEdChat@lacueorg
now to find a classroom :) challenge accepted! Can't wait! this is why I love twitter chat-conversing with amazing educators like you all help re-fresh my brain and reflect & recharge! #laEdChat@lacueorg
