whatever floats your boat!
-
I got used to minus 40, until I hurt my knee, now I'm a wuss and also want it to warm up!

-
A3: I enjoy being with my family :)
-
A3. Breathe deeply 10 times after anyone says "But I thought you knew it was broken already..." Then plot revenge.
-
-
A3 Now that the thesis is done, I'm trying to set a "shut down" time in stone. It's been really tough. https://t.co/BYwMFo486e
-
This is the only reason I want to learn yoga, so I can bring it into my class https://t.co/ObTbZYUTJ0
-
-
I meditated w/ my gr 5/6's. The energy in the room was fantastic. This influenced the mood for the rest of the day
-
Umm, maybe too late for that? :)
-
A3. Exercise... and double checking my daybook. .. still need to plan!.
-
I am currently watching Nurse Jackie on ...I hear ya
-
Mindfulness and "peace time" is one of those "take a little, get a lot" things in the classroom.
-
A2. running.. it helps clear my mind & at the same time I feel it's when I get my best ideas. It's kind of ironic.
-
-
That's a great practice. I'm trying to work on this more.
-
That's why I keep collapsing on my coke (a cola) addiction. Too much
-
My favorite video regarding awareness & positive thinking! Thanks for bringing this to Alex! worth a watchevery1
-
I think connecting with nature is very important. Something that is often overlooked.
-
Have my down times-try to convince myself of stress burning benefits and fight against that little negative voice.
-
A3 we plan to add a greenhouse over the summer to grow garden flowers to plant in school grounds..gotta garden!

-
So true! Easier said than done.
-
-
A3: I like to take some time and catch up on my favourite TV show or movie if I have time!
-
I find that if I get my to do list done, I get an amazing sense of satisfaction and am finally able to relax.
-
Agree, friend. Actually scientific proof r biological predisposition is 2b outside 2revive/clear thoughts. You rock!
-
Helpful! I am wondering if it is also healthy to take a bit of a break? Is rest under appreciated in our society?
-
A3 It may not be the best strategy, but sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor with a blanket and whimpering a little.
-
Fashionably late is good too!!
-
-
I gave up watching tv except for the odd movie. Finding relaxing things to do which engage my mind has proven helpful!
-
-
Very calming, ripping weeds out of the ground and denying them sustenance is also very calming.
-
Grade 6 Health Curr - dealing with stress: using meditation.
-
Good things fashions change ;-)
-
-
: I seek perspective more and clarity. Balance is good, but sometimes being off balance is okay too, keeps you on your toes.
-
A3 Oh I guess I should mention I am also a reality TV junkie! No thought or stress required for that.
-
Been training for a 1/2 marathon but this cold weather and snow is really cramping my runs!
-
Zones of Regulation. There's teacher training available. Check out the site online.
-
Definitely under appreciated. Only person looking out for you is you, everyone else will drain you.
-
-
-
"You can't pour from an empty cup."
-
That is probably true. Permission to be lazy!
-
Go Noodle has some calming activities.
-
Attaboy!! When's the run? (And yes - I'm a terrible winter runner -ugh.)
-
remind is an extremely effective app
-
I might go crazy if I tried that. I need to know what happened to Supergirl darn it!
-
Beautiful! Trust me..I have NO idea what I'm doing w/these beautiful creatures. It's all new! https://t.co/sZiuCRU48h
-
that is so true. Yard work and gardening - some great stress relief!
-
Our Ts use it with our Ss and they enjoy it
-
Important to remember! Must develop the ability to say no when we feel we are stretching ourselves too thin
-
I find once swimming noodles get involved, nothing is calming, just relaxing
-
-
I once said to a middle years student, "Don't try and out-weird me, kid." Worked.
-
No judgments passed by me.
-
Impressive! I have no excuse...thanks for the push!
-
Anything you can look back on and go "I did that, and it looks amazing!" really helps.
-
so important to do that - to be in the moment with our family!
-
-
-
-
A balance is needed between connecting & disconnecting.
-
-
Nah, just need a larger glass of "tweets" to get you through. Right ?
-
Ah. Report card week? Or Christmas concert? :) .
-
A4: I'm not sure I seek balance. I seek the time for myself so that I can be better for me and for the world.
-
Remember, it is okay to work yourself to death - Employer
-
Every Thursday my boys decide that at 8pm they should use every device we have on the internet. Every. Thursday. At. 8pm!
-
What is our focus? Are we focusing on doing a few things well or many things poorly?
-
A4. Is it even possible to find balance as a teacher and parent?!
-
It's on a sticky on my computer constantly. Reminder to look after myself!
-
My fave takeaway from teaching Gr 1-3s is that there is no such thing as "clothes need to match"
-
I'm sure they say the same thing about you!
-
-
I agree...especially when you are a S and you come back with you own kid...make your mark!
-
thank you. thank you. thank you. Only took 3 years to get to that!
-
Works when you have allowed your weirdness to flow. Try dancing in class, that gets them weird out quickly.
-
A4: Tough ques. Ppl are supportive of work-life balance but not supporting.
-
-
Ha, ha! Just like every time you are on the phone and that is when they need to tell you something.
-
-
Nothing better than living vicariously through your own kids. =D
-
A4 We can create goals & focus on the present moment. I think time is dependent on individual happiness than anything else.
-
An whose butt Melinda "The Cavalry" May will kick this week!
-
yes they do. Yes they do.
-
Change the password for the wifi - users only?! š
-
A4 - I don't know if balance is what people seek - maybe more the resilience to manage and excel in a crazy world
-
Absolutely, don't forget about whether Sheldon will finally propose to Amy!
-
A4 balance or consistency? I think they go hand in hand
-
absolutely. Been trying this for a few months. Also got rid of my run podcast/music. Just run!
-
A4 This is a good question. Balance seems like a funny word for the juggling that we do, but I'm not sure what else to call it.
-
A2. I am trying yoga and meditation for the first time this past week but I a Netflix binger.
-
I love running around Wascana to clear my head.
-
So true - they can't handle if you're singing and dancing to Marc Anthony
-
A4. Nope, organized chaos is best. At least for me.
-
Expert "cirque" skills of epic proportions?
-
A4: A balance, but everyone's equilibrium constant is different. (Math and science teachers' heads explode. )
-
I usually join them - they outnumber us 4 to 1!
-
If you want to practice dance moves, come to my group groove class at Golds!
-
A4: Interesting Q. I would typically say yes. I think many stress related issues come down to balance. https://t.co/z3DAiQmaqw
-
As a male teacher, throw a quick twerk in there. They will never make eye contact again!
-
Sorry ! I was busy pouring!
-
I like this word consistency better than balance. I can be consistent, but can I balance? https://t.co/P4JeYs5r6w
-
-
A4 balance or consistency? I think they go hand in hand
-
Interesting take. The definition of balance is dynamic - different to those with varieties of perceptions.
-
-
A4: Balance reminds me obsessing over 1 thing is not healthy. We limit learning when we limit orslvs to 1 area of exploration
-
A4: I need 2remember this, as I am a very passionate person & passion can b a great deterrent of balance https://t.co/vKwzFt5s3m
-
A4 snuck out to vote I think people want to feel that they are not behind, at work, home, recreation or in family/relationships
-
-
A4 - Iāve stopped with ābalanceā - focus on thriving and being present. There is no balance but their is healthy & thriving.
-
I like the word juggling. That sounds pretty accurate
-
Do you associate consistency with routines?
-
We are looking for your input for upcoming topics for ! https://t.co/qGokgnY40w Take a moment and submit your ideas!
-
Something that helps the organized chaos of the week is meal prepping. Creates no excuses and I love food. So that's beneficial
-
I can consistently eat cookies and gain weight! Also balance on the scale!
-
I think S respond and expect consistency
-
-
lol me, too. HUGE fan: there goes 3 hours of my life on Netflix! :-) but I leave singing!
-
Done a great deal of reading about āburnoutā - itās about lifestyle choices and being able to say āNoā! https://t.co/2TXPHWE3Vr
-
Done a great deal of reading about āburnoutā - itās about lifestyle choices and being able to say āNoā! https://t.co/Q5r25Pf6z4
-
So true, but for a lot of us we forget to look at multiple avenues of knowledge and getting things done.
-
-
Balance = Moderation?
= Well-rounded?
= Coping?
-
A4: Balance is what we want to achieve - with life, career, family, love...
-
Warning: You are in the splash zone! =[product]/[reactant] Le Chatelier applications? https://t.co/al4IfjB7U4
-
-
A4: A balance, but everyone's equilibrium constant is different. (Math and science teachers' heads explode. )
-
Assessment requires consistency. There needs to be balance in order to be able to assess. This is a constant cycle.
-
Nah, those are darth cookies, I prefer the Jedi cookies for gain weight. More chocolate!
-
It's funny what a difference doing these jobs in advance can make!
-
balance is the only way I survive. 3 jobs, volunteer, 6 classes, and homework. But its not necessarily the trad idea of balance
-
Its true. Does it benefit us as learners to sort everything into categories?
-
Love love love this sentiment. New motto for the importance of taking care of yourself. https://t.co/uu5lXUfhzD
-
-
"You can't pour from an empty cup."
-
But what about when they really need that report that they can do themselves done by you?!?!
-
Ugh. Sometimes, in those stretches, it's less about balance and more about keeping the eye on the prize. Good luck!
-
I try to make it the foundation....every S and T the same ...expectation and acceptance
-
"Consistency is the refuge of fools" :) I think Gandhi said that. 'Course I can be inconsistent and still a fool :)
-
-
Not so much balance as equilibrium, but balance as that juggling act (I like that visual)
-
A5 Contact the STF! They have resources & many helpful gateways to assist Ts needs.
-
-
Itās learning to say ānoā but politely.
-
I immediately got an image of a person on a unicycle with a huge stack of plates! Reminds me of university days
-
Damn. Just got "Tweets" on my keyboard.
-
Sorry my daughter called. Have to talk to my student. Almost done her program and graduating in May.

-
A5 Good colleagues, but also keeping non-work friends. We do need to get away from the classroom to relax.
-
Not to hung over to work? :)
-
. the Ts around you, the STF, various online places and my amazing PLN!
-
A/Q5)How would you like better mental health support? is looking into developing resources for teachers.
-
A5 I can't say it enough: don't be afraid to admit - to your colleagues, family, administrators, YOURSELF - if you're struggling
-
never, ever be afraid or intimidated from seeking professional help if you need it. It is available and important.
-
šš¼Now remember what they tell you on flights: put YOUR O2 mask on 1st b4 u help children. Ts need this! https://t.co/xhZp55msSa
-
True!!! I don't think I would've survived this past two years if I hadn't said no quickly and firmly.
-
A5 My most difficult times have come when I was too afraid to say that things were hard. People can't help if you don't let them
-
A5 But the beautiful thing with this profession is that people will understand and will be your TEAM. Find yours!
-
If you see lots of 9s and 0s, you'll know why!
-
It's okay to take a sick day! Especially when the has you covered. https://t.co/MFeIf1qr60
-
-
A5 I can't say it enough: don't be afraid to admit - to your colleagues, family, administrators, YOURSELF - if you're struggling
-
A 5: find a stoping point. Your class can't consume..it is 1 part of life. Partake in what you enjoy! Give yourself permission
-
isolating yourself and being a one-person wrecking crew is the fastest way to hurt yourself
-
A5. Living with depression means I have to say ānoā, take care of myself and seek out help BEFORE I crash. Proactive living.
-
I appreciate the chat everyone! Unfortunately I have to sign off. Thanks for the great
-
"GASP!!!" You said that on twitter! Unworthy teacher who takes mental health days!!!
-
A5: It's hard to be honest with health struggles b/c of perceptions. Find someone you can trust to be honest with
-
We're terribly efficient people when we're on a mission... sometimes, that mission's not a great one!
-
YES! Teachers can be masochists, or martyrs, or some other word staring with "m." Don't pretend to be bulletproof.
-
well this computer is slow, so I will just read the conv later! Back to writing that paper! Thank you all, have a great weekend!
-
Young Ts need to know that there are many resources to help them & be encouraged to live a healthy lifestyle. Lifeās too short.
-
A5: I starts on an individual level. Self-awareness allows us to advocate for our own needs.
-
Absolutely. But it's the fact that we sacrifice ourselves for our mission more than we should for it to succeed.
-
W6:That evals matter. They r simply a"How"2the"Why of Teaching".Focus on passion over productivity bc THAT yields bettr results!
-
A5 Back again and will try to catch up. Relying on good friends and colleagues for a listening ear has been beneficial for me.
-
As someone in the same boat, much easier said than done. That is a true skill that needs to be learned by all!
-
A5. The shift to full-time teaching from school comes with so many ālittleā demands that can quickly overwhelm young Ts.
-
Proactive living - I like that! We know when stressors are coming, we just need to learn to listen.
-
Come back next week when we talk about how to stress you out with new ideas again!
-
Hey - thanks for a beautiful chat - I have to hit the road before it gets too slippery. Take care and take time for you!
-
I agree! Giving ourselves permission not to be super human is sometimes the hardest part. https://t.co/b4Yriqz8Qx
