A1: I have grouped students together based on a lense focus for the same book. For example, one group read from a marxist lense

A2: Read aloud can be used to spark interest in reading. Some of my fav bks are ones my Ts read outloud. Show reading can be fun!

Independent reading novels are students' choice. Whole class novels are frequently read aloud (grades 6-8)

Highly recommend Nancy Atwell's "In the Middle." Longer read but amazing guide for setting up a writing workshop-style class!
