Q1: What are your personal and professional plans for summer 2016?
A1 Read lots of books, spend time with family and friends, go to the beach, blog about the books I read
A1: I want to exercise and read more AND learn lots about readers/writers workshop model of teaching.
A1: Moving to GA this summer and returning to the classroom to teach 6th grade. Plans to prepare my literacy center activities.
A1: I'm pleasantly pretty busy doing PD with teachers in the summer! Finishing a book for also. And going to ISTE!
A1: Planning to travel with my family, attend in DC and organize .
I'm an hour from Savannah. Small world!
I'm also planning to continue training for the NYC marathon in November. I'm glad that I'll have more time to run this summer.
A1. Personal: vacation, lots of reading, my kids. Prof: workshop, revamp/tweak lessons

Q2: How do you recharge and refresh during the summer break?
Summer reading is the best. Anything on deck?
A1: teach summer school (just found out it's math!), read a ton, write curriculum, learn lots fro Twitter!
A1: I plan to teach summer school, travel, and prep to change to a new school & grade level
A2: It takes me a few weeks to relax and stop waking up at 6am!
A2: Reading and time in the sun is my refresher. Love a good book by the pool.
A2 Get outdoors as much as possible. Go for walks, garden, swim, have BBQs and fires in the backyard
A2: I read SO MANY books. So many. On the beach. With a drink.
A2: Read, read, read! And unrelated to education! My week in Mexico is always spent poolside, reading.
A2: I love to read and watch daytime tv. I also want to enjoy my doggy!
A2: Sleeping in is huge. I don't miss waking up at 5:20 a.m. when I'm in summer mode.
A2. Spending time and having fun with my 2 yo and 5 yo. Plus, lots of reading.

Hello! I'm Altamese, an 11th grade ELA teacher from Houston!
A1: I plan to rest most of June, with July reserved for professional development classes.
Q4: Do you have any advice for new teachers on how to spend their time during summer vacation?
This resulted in a tertiary education network.
A2: I like to do yoga for relaxation. Looking forward to a lot of that this summer!
A3: The latest John Irving book is on my list & I may reread P. Conroy's Beach Music because he was my friend & I love his prose.
A4: Take time and do nothing for school. Just time for you with family and friends. We need to rest so we can give our jobs 100%
A4 Spend a little time thinking about/planning things that will make yr school year simpler i.e. forms, routines
A4: Spend your summer on Twitter learning what's new and read through blogs for great tips and tricks.
I know this is important, but can never seem to turn it off.
A3: Teach like a pirate and everything on the summer reading list for my students

Is the a weekly chat? Veronica from NJ. I am voracious reader in summer.
A4: Relax and rejuvenate in equal measure. Attend conferences/edcamps (free!). Connect w/Ts (, Twitter, etc.).
Love this book. Love the whole series!!
A4: Get comfortable with your curriculum but don't obsess over it. Develop your classroom management plan.
A4: Use journaling to reflect on the previous year. Ask yourself, "What went well? What could be improved?"

That is a great idea for tweaking lessons. Reflection is so important.
This will be my first experience with it. Did the tlap and learnlap chats, amazing!
Just bought The Red Queen for my daughter. I will be borrowing it.

I try to journal throughout the year too, so I don't forget cool ideas/improvements.
A4. Take time for yourself. Think about class routines. Familiarize yourself with curriculum.
I've heard so many good things about Mudbound. I really have to add that to my wish list.

A5 Do all the things you never have time for during the school yr and enjoy it while it lasts!

Agree! Am a firm believer in the power of journaling. Take time for it in the summer!
A5: Take time to do things you normally cannot i.e. try new recipes, spend time in nature, READ, eat, sleep, repeat.
