Hey #NVedchat. Steve in NW Indiana (outside Chicago). It's a small, silly thing, but I'm excited to get my car back from the shop today. Just in time for back to school, right?
I’m Tammy and I teach Kindergarten. I’m excited about all of the possibilities this new 2019 year can bring, especially with technology thanks to some @DonorsChoose projects that were funded! #NVedchat
A1: Would like to hear others educators talk about that new website https://t.co/clafbzILVO and talk about his attempt to blog and advice to make those blogs better and ideas for new blogs #NVedchat
I am creating a PD about embracing failure and the importance of it in education. Failure is sometimes looked at as a worse word than that other F word. That would be a fun topic #NVedchat
R1: We just did "advice to our high school selves" at a @valpohs411 PD. Maybe flip that on it's head: our high school selves give us advice that we can use in the present day. Classroom-related or not. #NVedchat
love the idea of addressing the mental health of ourselves and our colleagues- we work in a stressful environment & this is a topic that seems to be overlooked #nvedchat
A2: A classroom topic that can help new and veteran teachers would be engagement tips for specific subjects such as Math or sight words. I think it’s good to switch things up and try diff things that work for others. #NVedchat
Awesome. The #INeLearn chat just organized their regular Thursday night sesh around a series of tweet-ups statewide. The IRL component lit a fire under an already powerhouse chat. #NVEdChat
A2: I want a #NVedchat that is no questions but BYOGS (bring your own google stuff. Where we share our best google docs/sheets/forms that all can use so we can be productive. Overall winner of the night gets starbucks card via @Snehalstocks
A2 lets start talking about creating math instruction that looks like ELA instruction-small groups, independent Math work, fluency practice, foundational skills #nvedchat
A3: data analysis. We have all this data from formative and summative assessments, but (being realistic) few know HOW to use the information to make substantial change in the classroom with this stuff. #nvedchat
A2-Community Partners who can come into our classrooms or can virtually speak to our students about topics applicable to our students/lessons. #NVedchat
A2 I have been more & more intrigued by video & #YouTube content, & how we can reach our students would love to see @The1Shipp lead a chat & share some of her research #NVEdChat
R3: Dveloping teacher-leaders in a building - Ts bringing their confeeence presos to monthly faculty meetings. Kick-starting #ObserveMe in a building. How to organize IRL PLCs in a building. #NVEdChat
A3: I would like to see who has ideas whether it is Donors Choose for PD or some other way to attend these high priced https://t.co/XJdUeFezjb school has been lucky enough to go to 1-2 days at SDE. I would love to go to the SD one or attend the full week at the Venetian #NVEDCHAT
A3 I have enjoyed @GotCoreValues that my school was using last few years to build values & improve culture. It’s been nice to have admin & teachers talking through tough topics together. Maybe they would moderate with suggestions #NVedchat
I am teaching a community partnership class starting next week! Or check out this really cool article chrome-extension://oemmndcbldboiebfnladdacbdfmadadm/https://t.co/IyzbCY9zYF on page 52-55 #NVedchat
A4: it would be nice to meet educators as their out of classroom selves. Maybe a chat where we share hobbies, projects, family, adventures, etc?#nvedchat
Well, that was a powerhouse chat. Get a bunch of smart teachers in one place. Let them brainstorm, and blow the roof off. Thanks for having me, #NVEdChat. Have an awesome week & we'll chat again soon.
#truth data overload is too real-what is good data & what can we ignore or at least not spend so much time trying to analyze-what is data that equals true student growth #nvedchat
For real. That's a piece of our evaluation rubric, but I agree that very few teachers have been taught to analyze data and use that knowledge to adjust instruction. #NVEdChat
