A1: We have team building challenges the first few weeks called MasterChef Bootcamp to build relationships & learn names.
Take the time to show you care enough to know your students by name makes a lasting impact! Don't ever underestimate the power of a name!

Hello #TLAP! Claire from magical Las Vegas, Nevada :) I'm a third grade learning facilitator (aka teacher). Most magical moment of my weekend was spending all day Saturday with my 7-month old who just started crawling and sitting up.
A1: I opened the school year with our pixel board. Bringing inspiration with our lessons. Of course my room is wall to wall Pixels, everyone walks in wondering what they will see next. #tlap#pixelclassroom
A1: Play music, have my room festooned with Star Wars space ships, cool stuffed animals on my gamers couch, action figures running around my duct work... greet students... #tlap
A1 - The 'wow' moments are fun at the beginning of school and set the tone for the year, but I think the truly magical moments for Ss are when they realize they are empowered and drive their learning... #TLAP
Every single morning is your first impression for a new day. Smile. Give out hugs and high fives. Show you care the second your students walk in!!! I love incorporating engaging activities to keep their engagement all day! #tlap#LeadLAP#MLMagical

#MLmagical#tlap
A1: Periodically I get out the Karaoke mic and sing and dance with the kids off the bus. I want them happy and smiling as they enter the building #tlaphttps://t.co/4glxzJaiZ3
A1: Day 1 is Never about the syllabus! @AndeleeEspinosa & I make an effort to find out our student passions on day 1 by having them build passion pages in student portfolios
https://t.co/1NL2kUOmWo#tlap
My magical moment this past weekend was getting to see my professor's dissertation explained. He used Twitter for documentation. I love data. Love to analyze it. 🤓 The difficult part for me is narrowing down a topic. #tlap
A1 Well, my transition music is all the looped background music from Disney World Parks and resorts, I have a Harry Potter house contest, and I award magical items at the end of each week. #TLAP
A1: When I taught kindergarten, we started our day by singing songs together. The songs were word family songs so my students were learning, but singing was also a fun way to start our day!
#TLAP
Q1 💫Memorable Beginnings💫
The environment you create & the way you make your Ss feel all contribute to MAGICAL learning experiences.
What are some ways you make the most of beginnings by making them memorable?✨
#MLmagical#tlap
A1: A teacher's first priority in making a memorable beginning should be building rapport with students. Standing at the door and welcoming each student individually and seeking them out throughout the day can make a big difference! #tlap#MLmagical
A1 - I always start out with a family theme, encouraging students to make my classroom theirs. Afterall, it's not just my room and we are a family for at least the next 9 months! #tlap#SMSPD2018
A1: This is an area of growth potential for me. I try to build relationships through teaching content at the start of the year and it's a really hard thing to do. I'm convinced it's possible though! #tlap
A1: I love to welcome Ts and Ss with a smile and hello! For lessons, I love starting with music or a decorative theme... maybe a little bit of intrigue just to make them wonder what magical things we will do today! #tlap#MLMagical
Q1 💫Memorable Beginnings💫
The environment you create & the way you make your Ss feel all contribute to MAGICAL learning experiences.
What are some ways you make the most of beginnings by making them memorable?✨
#MLmagical#tlap
#tlap A1. We make collages of who we are and put them up on the wall. We also learn 7 up writing with 7 Up and brown bag paper challenges to see how they work as a group.
A1: My kids are intimidated off the bat because I give them a quiz on their required summer reading book on the first day. I teach the entire middle school every year, so I have the same kids 3 years. Then, they learn I'm not so bad. ;) #tlap
#TLAP Q1
I always work REALLY hard to learn names - fast - there's something magical when you can learn 150 names in a week or so! Shows the Ss they matter.
A1: This year, inspired again by #tlap, I was determined to make all of my first classes hands on, interactive and FUN! We did a breakout in 5th, Selfie scavenger hunt in 4th, QR code search in 6th, even play doh (thanks @burgessdave ) with FIRST graders!
Q1 💫Memorable Beginnings💫
The environment you create & the way you make your Ss feel all contribute to MAGICAL learning experiences.
What are some ways you make the most of beginnings by making them memorable?✨
#MLmagical#tlap
A1 I try to take my beginnings as magical as possible by putting away the traditional course load and work on relationships, games, team building and character education. I want my students to view learning in moments, not as a task. #tlap
Q1 💫Memorable Beginnings💫
The environment you create & the way you make your Ss feel all contribute to MAGICAL learning experiences.
What are some ways you make the most of beginnings by making them memorable?✨
#MLmagical#tlap
A1: I try to give each S an award in one of our classroom core values in the first month. I also try have them make several videos or fun projects that aren’t “curriculum” based to teach the procedure wo “teaching the procedures”. Also baked goods the first day. #tlap
A1: I don’t follow the “don’t smile until December” rule. In fact, I do the opposite. By the first week I’ve played each of my many instruments, told many of my long standing jokes, to which I laugh harder than the kids do, and sing almost all of my classic songs. #tlap
A1: I have the kids introduce themselves and I ask them about their names. where it came from, who they were named after, if their name has an important meaning. I take time to show interest in their names and they think that's kind of cool #TLAP
A1: For me it is all about relationships the first weeks! I started something this year that has done so much to lay down the ground work. I make sure to have lunch with my Ss once a week and just talk! #lunchwithLedford#TLAP
A1 I try to establish good relationships with students from the beginning and share about myself and my family too. Today we started #gamification so I am hoping that will make our learning more magical as well! #tlap
A1 Custom handshakes with each student, music when they arrive in the morning, our class song to the tune of the Kiki challenge, and lots of @ronclarkacademy and @hopekingteach strategies! #tlap
A1 - Perhaps different from how a lot see it, but here's my latest blog post that ties in well with the topic:
Building Relationships Through (and not instead of) Content Presentation
#tlap
A1: start each day in a memorable way. Instead of going over yesterday's homework...give an #ISeeMath image and ask a vague question. Get kids minds/bodies prepped for class in exciting ways. #tlap
A1 I play music every time before a class. From pop, to rock, to latin, to rap. I want to create a fun atmosphere as we wait for class to start. I want to make the environment the best possible. Because we will be in for a great ride. #tlap
A1 This year I started why playing board games. The atmosphere was more egalitarian and fun than any ice breaker Id done before!
https://t.co/wB0IIUGUzo#tlap
✨Hi, #TLAP Crew! Not sure it gets more magical than fresh gelato with local ingredients at the Sunday Market. Giving up sweets this week though for my #Five4Five Challenge... love sweet stuff!😊✨
A1: I always greet each of my students at the door and have a genuine conversation with them. I want the Ss to know that I care about them and am excited they are in my room. #TLAP#MLmagical
A1 it’s all about relationships, and focusing on those is so important, especially at the beginning. I love our “all about me” bags where students bring 5 things that describe them to share with the class. Here’s mine from this year! #tlap#MLMagical
A1: I am blessed to create magic every day in #kindergarten So much of what we are doing is new to our students (this was their first time seeing @GoNoodle 😉) Playing games, welcoming them with the playlist they created and planning SURPRISES are all part of creating magic #TLAP
Truly helps that half were my Ss from the previous year! Now in my tech position, I use little "cheats" (hovering on their profile pic or on a Google doc, etc). NAMES matter!!!
#TLAP
A1: Intentionally starting with relationship building activities - we laugh A LOT, learn about each other, and work together to build an inclusive, positive classroom culture that will sustain us throughout the year as we face challenges together. #tlap
A1 Wanted to make our new ts have a magic moment when they participated in our new t academy we had a large sign made up hanging as they arrived , gift with school logo and our course greet at door. Our Ts have gone one step further with creative ways to welcome their Ss #tlap
A1 It's all about being Relatable.
I have a ton of strategies for how to be Relatable (Real) embedded in this resource link.
#tlaphttps://t.co/QlTgP9n3zf
A1: We kicked off our year w/ dancing, team building, & lots of laughs! It set the stage for the positive environment I hope to create within my classroom! The goal is to make each day an exciting adventure that my Ss don’t want to miss out on! #TLAP
A1: We start out moving. Students do a classroom/syllabus/get to know you stations activity in groups. Then we focus on personal culture to build understanding of cultures of the world from what we know about ourselves. #tlap
A1 Building Relationships and high energy. Everything is supercharged positive. Starts with meeting them at the door with a smile, hello, and a first bump. Being genuine and REAL. This year I did the play doh lesson and it was an amazing learning experience. #tlap

What can you do to ensure the Ss in your classroom feel confident enough to pursue their authentic passions?💫
#MLmagical#tlap
A1 - The 'wow' moments are fun at the beginning of school and set the tone for the year, but I think the truly magical moments for Ss are when they realize they are empowered and drive their learning... #TLAP
A1: I teach the same kids through three years of middle school (Catholic school). Only 1/3 of them are new to me each year (6th graders). We don't spend a lot of time on "get to know me" bc I learn about them through creative projects and reflective writing in my class. #tlap
Right out of @burgessdave#tlap HS lesson - read a story about making new friends and getting to know each other and gave them play doh after - they could create something either they like or like to read about (I teach library). They LOVED it! I'm sure we'll have it out again!
In reply to
@DevEducators, @burgessdave, @burgessdave
A1: I think relevancy creates truly memorable learning experiences. Anytime we can connect what we’re teaching to something personal, to a real-life story, or experience, the learning has a better chance of sticking. #tlap
Q1 💫Memorable Beginnings💫
The environment you create & the way you make your Ss feel all contribute to MAGICAL learning experiences.
What are some ways you make the most of beginnings by making them memorable?✨
#MLmagical#tlap
A1: I sent a postcard to each of my students to let them know that I was excited to be their teacher. It is never too early to start building relationships! #tlap
A1b because of the Hurricane we are still out (big floods coming through the end of tge week). That is 3 weeks out. Big chance to re introduce everything!
#tlap
Yes! I find that Ss enjoy seeing the relationships we have with their teachers... puts them at ease and lets them know we cane build a relationship with them, too! #tlap#MLMagical
A1.2: I also use @Flipgrid to allow the Ss to make fun intro videos which allows me to learn about them and to memorizetheir names. Knowing their names is so important. #TLAP#MLmagical
A2: When we help Ss understand the important part they play not only in our school culture, but our world we empower them to radiate with authentic beauty that can shine brightly for the world to see. #MLmagical#TLAP
A2: Encouragement. Know them by name. Smile. Begin building a positive culture as soon as they walk in (even before). Wouldn't it be cool to allow Ss to start out with a genius hour on day 1? #tlap
A2: They know they are heard, I encourage #studentvoice and we use our XP Power Ups that are my Ss create and we use in teh classroom. We had our new #FlipGridFriday started because of Ss wanting to be more in charge of our @Flipgrid stories #tlap
A2. When I was in the classroom, I made sure that I met with ea S 1on1 a couple of times a week to give the students voice and choice on the work we are completing. #tlap and #MLmagical
Q2 ✨Authenticity & Agency✨
When we create circumstances for authenticity & agency, our classroom become MAGICAL places full of empowered learners.
What can you do to ensure the Ss in your classroom feel confident enough to pursue their authentic passions?💫
#MLmagical#tlap
A2: I give my student choice in how they want to complete the task or objective. It makes learning more meaningful, connects to the real world, and builds confidence! #tlap#MLMagical
A2: They need to know they have everyone’s support, they can goof up and be laughed with instead of laughed at, they can take risks, fail, and try again - failing better if that’s the case...#tlap
A1 As a choice art teacher, Day 1, like everyday is about jumping in and creating. I only see the kids about 36 periods a year and I want them creating as much as possible. That’s how kids learn to become creators, by creating. #tlap
A2: First and foremost, we listen when they speak. Then we model what we expect. When they see that we're #Real and that we care, and that their voices matter, they proudly share #tlap@TaraMartinEDU#REALedu
A1 learn all their names as quick as I can... play some icebreakers in the first couple weeks.. plan a lab for them to get to make and eat something right away #TLAP
A1: First day/week is all about the students & building relationships. We play games, do team building activities & get to know each other. Ss shared what’s important to them. I have new ideas for next year thanks to #TLAP
A2: Create a safe place to make mistakes and value individuality. Encourage different ideas and don't be afraid to have Ss know more than me. #tlap#SMSPD2018
#tlap one of the the other teachers started off his year with this noise chart, to which I laugh at. our ss were together today for presentations and many said, “you know we hear you singing every day down the hall. You are really loud.” So, I added a level to his meter. 😂
A1: We do home visits! I also make it a priority to make positive phone calls the first week. I also eat lunch with each of kiddos to truly connect with them! #tlap
A2 I think it’s relationships and building a community of trust—and modeling that it’s ok to take chances/push the envelope in positive ways. Then building in choice. #tlap
Relationships - especially after a summer off - can go a LONG way in starting the year off. You just never know what these kids did or didn't have over the summer. #TLAP
A2: Knowing their DNA (dreams, needs and abilities) and using them in my classroom project planning shows them that I care about their passions and that they are important to me. #TLAP#dnainventories
A2: To me, the best way to give students these opportunities is to intentionally plan them into the day and/or week. Then, the time will be there for the opportunities to happen.
#TLAP
Q2 ✨Authenticity & Agency✨
When we create circumstances for authenticity & agency, our classroom become MAGICAL places full of empowered learners.
What can you do to ensure the Ss in your classroom feel confident enough to pursue their authentic passions?💫
#MLmagical#tlap
A2: this goes back to relationship and trust. Let the kids get to know you. I mean the REAL you. Not just the teacher- you. Makes sense? When they connect with you on that level, students will automatically be a risk taker! #tlap
Q2: Give my students voice and choice. This makes them feel confident and eager to learn. It is personalized and the students set the tone! #tlap#MLmagical
A1 I always try to get to know the students on the first day I ask them how I know them and how they know me I love to hear what they have to say! One student said I know you because you talk to my mom all the time. LOL #MLmagical#tlap
A2 I want my students' passions to be part of learning. As we create independent research project aimed at making a difference, they need to bring their passion into play. They also need to teach me their passion. Learning the ukelele, guitar, scooter jumps, dance & more...#tlap
Q1 💫Memorable Beginnings💫
The environment you create & the way you make your Ss feel all contribute to MAGICAL learning experiences.
What are some ways you make the most of beginnings by making them memorable?✨
#MLmagical#tlap
A2: Helping them to identify what lights them up. Giving them an understanding of flow, and what that feels like, then valuing it, nurturing that, and enabling them to use it often. #TLAP
A2: I allow some flexibility in some assignments to allow individuality to shine. Ex: Vocab sentence assignments, students can write about topic of choice. Some students make comics using their words. Others tell me everything they know about sports or a favorite hobby. #tlap
Q2: this may sound pretty basic, but a not assignment is ever done. Keep trying and revising based on feedback. It's never about the grade but the learning & refining of the communication. #tlap
A1: As a school, we blast music every morning outside at our sunrise ceremony. Students and teachers dance (mostly the floss dance!) In my classroom, I start the first day of school with a BreakoutEDU #TLAP
✨A1✨
TRANSFORM THE GAME
#TLAP Room Transformations paired with #XPLAP Gamification transform the game of learning into an incredibly magical journey! https://t.co/zqkiiGd3hW
A1: 💫Memorable Beginnings💫
One way I make the most of beginnings by making them memorable is having #LunchBunch with four kiddos every Friday — no matter if I have recess or lunch duty — kids will skip lunch to eat with their teacher! They ♥️ it! ✨
#MLmagical#TLAP
A2 Valuing student voice through class discussions and morning meetings, and incorporating student passions in themed lessons. Ss love when teachers acknowledge their passions! #tlap
A2 - Our 1st unit in physics (6th grade) is motion; I challenge Ss to connect the concepts from the unit to one of their own passions (the Motion Passion Project) & use @Flipgrid to share their connections - we learn so much about one another #tlap
A2: I try to build in time for students to collaborate before answering & discussing as a group. This seems to spark confidence & gather more evidence to discuss. #tlap
A2: Provide opportunities for Ss to have a choice in their learning! I love giving my Ss the chance to teach our class! They pick the topic, do the research, plan the lesson, & share their passions!! Authentic learning & teaching at its finest! #TLAP
We start off the year with students sharing their interests and passions we make a poster and have it hanging up in the room. For their first Side Quests I let them dive into their own interests to show something they've learned so far. #TLAP
A2 First, we must make time to discover their passions and talents. This might be done via interest surveys, "get to know you" activities, and simply 1-1 convos where you Listen to Learn. #tlap
A2: Validate your Ss passions by sharing your own! When Ss discovered my #passionforkindness, they made a point to share kindness stories w/me. I love to use @flipgrid for Ss to share their passions so I can get to know them better which leads to #passionprojects! Fun #tlap
A2 We do alot of hands on activities in our class. In the past, we've gardened, gone fishing, walked and made observations in nature preserves, etc. I learned most of this from my work with students with developmental disabilities. Every student deserves real opportunity #TLAP
A2: Reaffirming Ss and recognizing their strengths is a way to show them that you are proud of them and interested in their abilities. Have the Ss show off their passions in the classroom and create an encouraging environment among Ss! #tlap#MLmagical
A2: I think reminding Ss that there is life beyond academics. Place an emphasis on Ss being well rounded people rather than names on a call sheet. Also, take a genuine interest in Ss when they talk about life outside of school. #tlap
A2 The first step for me is the individual and small group conversations where we truly get to know our Ss and what their desires, motivators, and fears are...from their we can work to design learning experiences with them that taps into their strengths. #tlap
A2 i try to have a lot of discussions early in the year with students as they develop research projects. Often Ss dont know some of the historic topics they will eventually want to learn about. Agency requires informed choices.
#tlap
Our @Gene_Pike Ss participated in the READING BATTLE ROYALE today!! They dropped into Loot Lake, Tilted Towers and Pleasant Park while earning v-bucks and battle stars with their AWESOME reading skills!! #bethewildcard#tlap
#tlap A2. I have found some articles on Commonlit that set students up for success and learning from failure. They feel better about understanding success can be built by failure and learning how to overcome these failures.
A2: Ss need to see you pursue your authentic passions! I tell them when I fail. I show them how I get back up. I model confidence. Ss can’t be something they’ve never seen. They need to see confidence after a failed attempt. 🤷♀️ #tlap
A2: I love to incorporate activities which allow for student choice. I also like to amplify student voice in the classroom and have the Ss realize that their voice matters. #tlap
A2: empower them. Give them confidence and ownership. Build a community of learners and supporters. We are a team I give respect and expect it for myself and for all of my Ss. #tlap
A2: By setting clear expectations of respect/love in our classroom, learners are free to pursue their authentic passions without worry - and if they succeed or fail in their pursuit, Ss have confidence the class family is there for support, never ridicule. #tlap
A2: We have to go first and model what we want from our students. Show them the way, and then carve out the time and space for them to authentically voice their thoughts and opinions. #tlap
A1 & A2 combined - at the beginning of the school year I get Ss to complete a 'profile' for me that tells me all about their family, interests, etc - helps me to get to know them but also include their passions in our learning! #tlap
Q2: Make it a priority to let your students know that you truly care about them. And support them to discover what they care about. Encouraging choice, freedom and failure without judgement allows students to take risks in the classroom. #MLmagical#TLAP
A2. Encouragement! Know Ss by name, encourage them to share kindness shoutouts on the bulletin board, help others, take risks in learning, try new things, share creative ideas that they might want to try in the school, etc. #tlap
Q3 ✨Gamified Experiences✨
There are so many ways to bring games into your classroom to create MAGICAL learning experiences.

A2: I work with teachers and this year I have asked each teacher what their goal is for tech this year. I am trying to provide resources and help in reaching the goal. #tlap
#tlap A1: I make the first weeks magical by building my community, connecting with each of my kids and giving them time to get to know each other. The first week sets the tone for the entire year.
A2: Build relationship and trust. Encourage students to take risks and teach them to have a growth mindset so that even if they make mistakes they understand that they are learning! #tlap
A2 Encourage self confidence and passion and its importance right away. Many of my teachers started the first week w/ passion projects. Great way to give S voice , actually hear from them, and learn so much from and about them. #tlap
Hello, #TLAP fam! Anna from San Diego! One magical moment from my weekend was making art in the Spanish Village Art Center @SpanishVillage at @BalboaPark!
A1: Shock and awe mixed with uniqueness is my “beginnings” brew. I want students to know that this year will be unlike any year they have ever had in an English class. Personalization with my own passion is what makes it unique. Think Disney meets Hogwarts. #TLAP
A3: The challenge, collaboration, creativity, & critical thinking that are woven into game play bring a complexity that goes much deeper than points and badges.
#MLmagical#TLAP
A3 I have to say, two of my favourite games to play are @TheEllenShow Heads Up game and Speak Out game. We will be playing Speak Out soon. Nothing better than to tie in current learning of vocabulary, fun, laughter and putting yourself out there. My students will love! #tlap

A2 Conferencing is vital. Letting students get feedback without feeling like they have submitted a final piece of work takes away even the whiff of 'fail' and replaces it with 'iteration' and 'revision'.
#tlap
#TLAP A2) Share your passions and interests and show them that you are a learner too. Curiosity is contagious and when they see that you are learning and making mistakes publicly they will be more apt to do the same.
All time favorite board game is Yahtzee, love the roll of the dice, thinking strategy and being smart with the use of your numbers. Video Game, Super Mario all the way. #tlap
A3. My favorite game is Scrabble. It was a game we played with our grandmother and when we went camping. Strategy was the key to the game and I never did beat my gma. #tlap and #MLmagical

A3: I'm not sure if this classifies as a game, but my favorite game-like activity right now are breakout boxes (digital and nondigital). All kids seem to really get into them and they're a lot of fun for me, too! #tlap#SMSPD2018
A2: The most important thing is to make your classroom a place where failure is accepted, expected, and even celebrated. When kids lose the fear of failure, they are empowered to fearlessly pursue the things they are most passionate about. #TLAP

#tlap A3. I love https://t.co/m3SpCKc37F. I am able to change the topic to whatever we are learning. The kids love it. I have had leaderboards where kids earn a treat at the end of the quarter if they have the highest score. I also play so they have to beat me.
#TLAP A3
My fav class game to play is @quizlet Live - fast paced, Ss love it! Never same game twice.
However - I love helping Ts turn the things they ALREADY do into "games".

A2 from day one, we work on building a sense of community in and out of our classroom. Taking risks is much easier when you feel supported! Once students see that we are better together and that we are all here to learn, the possibilities are endless! #TLAP#MLMagical
This is SO important! I will always remember one of my Gr3 Ss describing the intricate patterns of henna on her hands and why she would have an arranged marriage one day. We could all learn from one another if we are able to share our voice! #tlap#MLMagical
A1: Team building with breakouts & escape rooms both in the room & digital. I'm also starting "Keep the Quote" this year & showcasing through @Flipgrid can't wait! #TLAP
A2: I ask Ss to list 3...animals people, places, ideas, etc. that they want to learn about. Throughout the year I get hundreds of books from my public library to place in our classroom. I set up a portal or website with links on the Ss topics of interest #tlap#MLmagical

Hangman and Bingo are so old age, but there are other ways to engage that can involve the Ss. @SMART_Tech - MonsterQuiz & LAB activities, @GetKahoot@quizizz@quizlet so many options out there now... #TLAP
A3: Today, I got to watch @misslunaloves play a quick but super powerful game during her Morning Meeting. A student got to say something they loved & every one that loved the same thing stood up & said “That’s me!” What a great way to build community. So easy! So powerful! #tlap
A3: I really enjoy the HedBanz game that is designed for younger students. Students put a picture card on their head, and they have to ask the other players "yes" or "no" questions to find out what their card is. Great for getting students to ask questions! #tlap#MLmagical
A3 I'm learning about gamification, being inspired by @mrmatera earlier this year. However, I had kids playing video games to learn for years. Spore is definitely one to check out for Evolution concept mastery. Also Oregon trail is free online. @icivics is great too. #TLAP
My Students have been LOVING @gimkit in the classroom as an option to practice with new material. It keeps them active and gives them the opportunity to relearn questions they got wrong #tlap

Introduce yourself & share a ✨magical✨ moment from your weekend! #MLmagical
A3: I love having my Ss write down an unusual/little known fact about themselves and give it to me. Then, I read each one out loud and we make a game of guessing which fact belongs to which student. Gets students talking to one another/learning more about one another.. #tlap
A2 I am trying to incorporate more student choice in showing mastery. While this has been harder than I would like it to be, I have been starting small and hope to grow it bigger. #tlap
A3: my favorite game is boggle. I love words. I always have. I like to challenge my Ss to explore words, play with them and learn from each other. We have boggle tournaments, beat the teacher and whole class boggle. #tlap

A2: Hi friends. Sorry I'm so late! When we listen to students, find out what they care about and find ways to incorporate their passions into the curriculum, students feel empowered and valued--> a MAGICAL combination 💫 #tlap
A3b: also snowball fight- who doesn’t love throwing paper snowballs everywhere? However, it’s all fun and games until you can’t find a definition because your snowball throwers got a little carried away. Have no fear! We found it... in May while I was taking posters down! #tlap
A3 #tlap In French we play a collaborative circle game that encourages &supports each student to say one sentence about another student’s picture. A bit like hot potato, sts hear multiple options from others so they have something to say. Intense at the end, powerful fun. #tlap
I really like that the digital ones can be done outside the classroom for absent students or to review as well. I like the boxes a little better, but my digital ones are getting better with each one I make. #tlap
A4: When Ss become the experts, they own it.
By empowering our Ss with opportunities to explore, create, fail, and iterate, they grow as a result. #MLmagical#tlap
A3 I love bringing in puzzles. They are so simple and the kids love doing them . To top it off there is so much problem solving, communication, and collaboration going on. Bonus EVERYONE can do them, even I join in! #tlap
Minute to Win It ... great! We used that concept during our Field Day. Half the day one grade was outside while the other grade did those indoor activities. #tlap
A2: I like to use literacy to help build perspective in the classroom. We also use @Flipgrid to connect with others around the world. It provides a safe place to be heard & share passions. #TLAP

#tlap A3: Games are a great way to connect kids. I love the ones where they are actually in the game. I use a tarp with squares on it. Its a minefield with only one way through.
#TLAP I saw a great low organized game in the gym this week. Hoola hoops and paper rock scissor hop. Ss hop from opposing sides and when they meet PRS the winner keeps hopping, the other goes back to the stop, super fun!
I’m loving the #TLAP#MLMagical chat with @tishrich, but have to head off to a family lunch with my grandmother. I’ll definitely check out the rest of the magic when I get home. 👋🏼
#tlap A4. When I first tried Flipgrid I had no idea the students could cut or edit the videos. They teach me everyday when it comes to technology. When my sound is out they fix it. When my videos are buffering they teach me how to fix it. Humbling.
What have you tried so far? This was my goal last year and after a year, my students are way more creation/product focused and getting pretty good at self grading, too! #tlap
A4: Have Ss ask the questions. Have Ss lead the discussions. Have Ss develop their own inquiry adventures and follow it where it takes them. Let go of being in control and realize the ultimate potential of your Ss! #tlap#MLmagical
A4: Ss have to be allowed to be the experts. If we let them try and take control of their learning we’d be shocked at what they know! @class_torres is a freakin pro at allowing her Ss be the experts in academic discussion. I stand amazed every time I go in her class. #Tlap
A4 I allow students to make choices in learning. We started the year learning about our identities, labels, micro agressions. As we get to know ourselves, they decide how each can impact the world & live a passion for positive change. I want my students to own learning. #tlap

A4. I started writing 'choice projects' into our teaching & learning programs - introducing small chances for Ss to choose how they can share what they have learnt. A fairly risk-free way to introduce this to a new school school where Ts aren't used to this method! #tlap
LOVE it! I have created a Breakout for My Library Orientation. I love that there is now an easy way for students to create games! Have you seen that new feature on the platform?? #tlap

Build a fast food restaurant
Create an animal
Build a house
Make a robot
Then we would vote!
#MLmagical#tlap
A4 I try to let Ss produce and display their work so others can learn from them. With the side quests and choices this allows more eyes on work and more variety in who gets to speak and how.
#tlap
#TLAP A4
My ALL time best example - my 1st go w/#GoogleDrawings ... I knew very little. I put a map of the US in & told the Ss to figure out how to answer their geography Qs on the shared Drawing. I learned SOOOO much in 1 class period! Turned my thinking BIG time!
A4: When I first started coaching robotics I knew very little about programming the bots. That made it easy for me to respond to all of their questions with: "I don't know, why don't you look it up and share with the rest of us." #tlap
A3:This may not be your typical gamification experience...but to kick off #HelloWeek this morning, we wrote our names on name tags along with our favorite cartoon or holiday. We then found someone with the same fav and struck up a convo. “That’s a movie...not a cartoon.” 😝 #tlap
I am constantly learning tech from my Ss - I love when they figure stuff out. Good for all of us to know I don't have all the answers and we are all learners! #TLAP
A4: When it comes to coding, I always tell my Ss that I don’t know how to do it, so teach me!! They take pride in being able to show me something new & I love hearing them guide me along the way! #Tlap
A4 I love doing @missgideon4 silent math. Ss must walk me through solving a math problem step by step and if they aren’t detailed I do it wrong on purpose. They get really good st being the teacher! #tlap
A4: My Ss are in groups and I task each group to have an expert at the table who assists the others. I also allow Ss to be tech experts who will teach the others or teach me new tech tips. Empowering the Sa to take charged their learning is so important. #tlap#MLmagical
