The #educoach hashtag is used by instructional coaches around the world. We chat each Wednesday at 8pm CST on Twitter and use the hashtag throughout the week to share resources, ask questions and collaborate with instructional coaches.
Good evening - I'm Kathy - co-founder and co-moderator of #educoach. My success this week was an awesome virtual coaching call with a rock star coach! Love reflecting with coaches!
Hello everyone! Allison from SC! I’m celebrating the amazing co-teaching and modeling lessons w/ a T who has embraced learning and growth mindset. The S results have been amazing! #educoach
Hi #educoach! I'm joining from swim practice - warm and muggy in the bleachers...
My #eduwin this week was gathering observation data that helped a teacher reflect.
- Jennifer, a math coach in Oregon
And I'm absolutely loving spring. Robin has built nest in my front wreath. All 4 eggs have hatched. I'm sitting on the deck surrounded by my flowers and herbs. Life is great! #EduCoach
Good evening. I’m an instructional support teacher and my success for the week ... being invited back to work with a teacher I didn’t think really wanted me to be a part of their learning! That’s a win #educoach
That's awesome. In our line of work I've found it best to not waste energy on our assumptions. You are building the trust and relationships. They saw that. WIN! #educoach
Good evening from rural WV. I'm a K-12 math coach celebrating the third iteration of a framework for persistence and conversation collaboratively created by 6th-12th math teachers #educoach

I will definitely check this out, and most likely reach out to you! I am working gone some different things for next year, and love to see other people's processes!
#educoach thanks for sharing!
What a great night for a math book tasting and annual DACTM membership meeting. Congrats to all scholarship winners, mini grant winners, and Educator of the Year nominees. And congrats to the 2018 DACTM Educator of the Year @MrScotAcre#miched#elemMathchat
A1. I think seeking feedback from your Ts and Admin is key. Also, reflection but then some definite action steps--I don't want to get stuck in and "IDEA ZONE" because we need action to impact change. #educoach

I have loved seeing the changes in math practices and approaches over the years. So much more inquiry and understanding than when I taught 4th and 5th grade. #educoach
A1: Listen. Take treats. Share what you don't know before what you do know. Make a list of what you hope to accomplish. scratch out 50%, then 50% of that. Now scratch out 50% of what remains. Start there. After treats, of course. #educoach
Hey JoAnne, thanks for joining in! SC in the chat! I'd be interested in hearing how you approached this--we have tried a few things, to begin the initial conversation. #educoach
A2: Google forms, docs, hangouts. I share all thoughts and questions openly in journal form when I observe. Teachers do when I model. We're rural, so we meet on hangouts often. #educoach
When I was a coach I should have bought stock in Dove Chocolates. As a literacy coach - I loved that eating them also required a little reading! Great ice breakers and laughs. #educoach
A2. So much technology. I always try to model its use so that Ts can see how it can be used. Also work with our awesome IT to support meaning integration and again, it goes back to modeling. Tech is a tool, so it needs to be the right reason to use it. @Ms_Pursley :) #educoach
A3: With https://t.co/gU3fwZSxBG, teachers can sign up for any open time on my calendar. I can block off times if needed for planning, but this makes classroom work easier. I follow up by e-mail for pre-conference and debrief times. #EduCoach
I have also used Google Hangout to even share information with Ts who are in the building. It was pretty neat to know they were in a place they wanted to be and then were open to learning and the conversation about new ways to use tech #educoach
A4. Professionalism, Transparency, Sincerity, Effort. In no particular order. Communicating intentions and desired outcomes, which are never about me. It always comes back to the Ss and supporting the Ts however possible. #educoach

A4 yes we have be friendly & collegial but the real relationship develops in the work we do. Make it safe enough to TRUST, Foster or model a GROWTH MINDSET and eatablish a COMMON GOAL. The pic is an info graphic created by @kimberleyadair and myself to support our work. #educoach
A little time saver and inbox cleaner is https://t.co/lJJ1cp12AI. I add a lot to my roll up and get once a day in a set rather than individual emails. #educoach
A4: Strong relationships happen with common goals which is one of the (many) reasons I love student-centered coaching and the work of @SweeneyDiane#educoach
A4: Model lessons and show your vulnerability in debriefing. I always ask for their suggestions and I've learned so much! Learning together builds trust beyond sharing chocolate... #educoach
A4 Remember: as my momma always told me “Smarty had a party and nobody came.” Listen more than you speak. Be a partner to maintain relationships. #educoach
A5. This is something that I think should be a non-negotiable. So much of the coach work is in its own lane, but working for the larger goal/vision. If you don't know what that vision/goal is, what are woking towards. Ps are busy, but it is worthwhile! #educoach
A5: Have a set schedule, work hard to stick with it, and establish a protocol. Here's my update, what trends are you seeing, what are our next steps? #educoach
A5 Here is an older post of mine on Principal - Coach Relationships. https://t.co/4gHbZZvocK I probably need to revisit. Can guarantee all links work. #educoach
This is something we try to do, and we talk every day--but the focus and intentionality of the conversations would definitely have a great impact on the work, I know!#educoach#goals
A6 Coaching cycles - don't put them off as you are learning them. Find a willing teacher and ask them to help you learn the new skill set. The longer you put them off, the harder they become. #educoach - Just like anything.
A6. This is still an area of improvement for me. I am refining it, but I have some work to do, even though I have grown a lot. I am amazed at the variety of ways coaches do things--amazing efforts/ideas...yet, we all do it different. It is my growth area. #educoach
A6. When working through coaching cycles give yourself grace. Half cycles, tried cycles, failed cycles .. still cycles. Still awesome. Yes you’re doing it right. Just keep going. It never feels “perfect” #educoach
A6: I love using checklists for instructional strategies and using video to help a teacher see his/her current reality. Shout out to @jimknight99 and the Impact Cycle! #educoach
A6: Focus cycles on teacher goals and schedule as much as possible up front (things may have to change, but having it on the calendar makes it harder to skip when things get busy). #educoach
This is one of my goals for the summer! I am really going to dive into this and work to refine my process implementing #educoach I've done it a bit and the results have been amazing!
It’s this awesome free app that you can add on to your gmail. It allows you to write an email and schedule the exact time it will be sent out in the future 🤩 #educoach
Suggestion: Publish online and in print a newsletter of tips for your staff. Make sure all staff have access to this valuable resource. My Instructional Coaching page https://t.co/Asat8rpDCy#EduCoach
I recently read The Art of Coaching Teams by @artofcoaching1 and it was a fabulous listen to on @audible_com I would highly recommend this book for a foundation of how to manage Teams #educoach

Boomerang can do that, too - it also has a scale for how likely people are to respond to your e-mail based on your words and questions... kind of scary.

We are always thankful for your pages Jerry! (And thanks for adding #coachapproach!) Newsletter are a great tool Here is a post I wrote The F.A.C.E. of Newsletters https://t.co/ZDolrnen5a#educoach
A7: schedule in the things that inspire you. Maybe that’s a chat with a certain person, listening to a podcast, creating a new resource, whatever reignites your passion for coaching #educoach
Does this gives resources of possible platforms to use? We just had a discussion last week about how to best message. I’m on my phone so can’t open all the tabs right now! #educoach
That way it doesn't feel like another thing to fit in. If Principal's on board and understands the work, then try for coverage for meetings. Then teams are more apt to opt-in and be all-in. #educoach

A7: Exercise, get into classrooms with KIDS, schedule time for morning coffee and the to-do list, twitter chats for inspiration, get home in time for baseball games and swimming... take care of yourself so you can be positive, present, and peaceful for others. #EduCoach
A7. I workout and I keep my thoughts positive. When I feel like I am going to a tough spot, I have a few people I go to, and they get me back on track! #educoach
T just shared "move it" (I think) and that program goes off based on how I set it to do some type of movement--and movement is good for the brain and relieving stress! #educoach
It's May, #educoach ! I worked until 6:30, got home, fed my kids, bathed them, played with them and put them to bed. I'm 52 min late, but I'm here and going to answer some Q's and then read through the chat tonight!
That's why #educoach was started about 8 years ago. Wednesday nights are still my favorite. My Oscar goes to all of you! You make #educoach what it is!
A must-have resource for coaches, leaders, and teams, this book covers approaches for boosting professional growth and macrostrategies that are responsive to student needs: https://t.co/ZfwirtkUUM
A1: My best tip for a coach just starting is to get into classrooms, get to know kids, and build relationships with teachers. Coaching adults is HARD. It's even harder when they don't know or trust you. #educoach
2night culminated an 8wk long coaching relationship w/ a 👩🏽🏫 I've had the privilege 2 support. She's grown leaps & bounds. We've cultivated a true growth partnership, & I'm so excited about her future in Ed. @edconnective#teacherquality#educoach#Instructionalcoaching
A2: My best technology tool as a coach/leader is simple, but vital: My google calendar. I live by it! As coaches, our days never look the same. Keeping a detailed calendar, scheduling tasks and not just meetings and lessons, keeps us accountable and reliable. #educoach
A8 I have so many but @r13coaches launch their blog .. “Letters to an Instructional Coach”this month and I’m giddy! Tips tools and just a whole lotta love. #educoach
A1: As a new coach, it was helpful to know school/ district initiatives, so that I could assist new teachers. I also conducted a Needs Assessment so that I could be intentional and differentiate my PL. #buildrelationships#EduCoach
