A1: Being in @SFecich TOI class we've had so many opportunities to connect with some awesome educators. @nankr1120@EdTechNeighbor and @MrRyneAnthony to name a few are wonderful educators who have taught me so much! #learnLAP
I’ve made so many amazing connections since joining Twitter! @TaraMartinEDU and @tishrich reminded me during the month of November to practice gratefulness. It really helped me to focus on the good that happened each day and helped me keep a positive mindset. #LearnLAP
@SporLin and @HeatherTForbes have brought me to a place where we need to focus on our entire student. Impacted me to start a Trauma Informed approach. @TaraMartinEDU has been great in reminding me to #Be_REAL#LearnLAP
Hi #LearnLAP!!! Not to brag or anything, but I made a smidge of progress today in PT. Not quite sure what my Certifictate should say, but I decided I deserved one..... 😂😂
A1: There's too many to name who I've connected with since the summer but what I've learned from all of them is to follow my personal philosophy of teaching and don't shy away from breaking the norm! #learnlap
Twitter has been such a gift to me this year!! I'm so encouraged and challenged by so many that I've connected with - I'm not quite to a "gajillion" yet, but maybe next year!! #LearnLAP

A1: So many to list I don't know where to begin. I just started growing my PLN in August and the impact it has had on me and my teaching, leadership, etc. has been amazing. Can't wait to add more tonight from all of your responses! #LearnLAP
I agree with you, twitter has been a great place to meet new people and learn many things about people! It is awesome to see where everyone is tweeting from. #LearnLAP

A2:@SFecich and @nankr1120 have been so influential this year! They have taught me so much with being new to twitter and how I can use twitter to connect with more amazing educators. They have been super encouraging !#learnLAP
A2: My big edu-hero would have to be @nankr1120, she's really inspired me as an educator, given me great ideas, picked me up when I was down, encouraged me, helped me out and so much more. I owe a lot to that wonderful woman #LearnLAP

A1: I have to say I don’t think there is enough space to name them all! Each and every educator/leader on here has given me some piece of advice, input, motivation and more with out them possibly even knowing at times. The constant support and cheering is felt daily! #LearnLAP
A2: I'll start by saying how awesome I think @RaeHughart is! Innovative thinker, positive, and so personable! Thankful to @burgessdave for how #tlap awakened my creativity within. Love how down to earth @sheehyrw is. And really enjoy talking with @TechieTeachOtt! #learnlap
Q2 #learnlap@brewerhm for sure! #Hamishforpresident People are taking notice and I hope that we see schools all over start doing all the drastic things!
A2: I have to say I don’t think there is enough space to name them all! Each and every educator/leader on here has given me some piece of advice, input, motivation and more with out them possibly even knowing at times. The constant support and cheering is felt daily! #LearnLAP
A1 One of my fav educators to connect with is @CFI_MrsBlake. Together, we've partnered our 5th graders and kindergarten buddies for reading engagements, library trips, zoo field study, and pond walks - not to mention help at lunch daily. #LearnLAP
@DrBurkeHarris for her work in the field of trauma. Definitely put everything on a map and I just placed her book in my kindle to read next!#cantgetenough#LearnLAP
A2 I am thankful that so many wonderful people have crossed my path this year. I am greatful for my #122edchat and #waledchat family. They inspire me to be better everday #LearnLAP
A2: Gotta go with @burgessdave, and I know I say it all the time. But for reals. I walk into a room of ss I don’t know and they are excited to see me because my presence is more known. I sing, I dance, I joke. I am me. Reading #tlap opened that door up. #LearnLAP
A2: @misterminor & @SaraKAhmed who helped me realize the importance of being proactive with my privilege. @KristinZiemke is an amazing role model who always keeps kids, learning and pedagogy in focus, I grow as an educator every time I talk with any of them #learnlap
A2: I gotta say that @MrSmall215 and the #RJLeagueChat has been crucial in changing and challenging my thinking. I’ve really checked my privilege and am working on an equitable access for all. The chat is Sun at 8 PM EST for anyone who wants to chat! #LearnLAP
A2: My big edu-hero is my Instructional Technology, @drzimmerle! She has enlightened our class with great teaching techniques, along with a lot of much needed encouragement! Overall, she has shaped my goal of how I plan to become an educator. #LearnLAP
A2: Gotta go with @burgessdave, and I know I say it all the time. But for reals. I walk into a room of ss I don’t know and they are excited to see me because my presence is more known. I sing, I dance, I joke. I am me. Reading #tlap opened that door up. #LearnLAP
#LearnLap A1 As so often happens I found something I didn’t know I was looking for.. @heathercalvert blog post “Why Stretch” encouraged me to reconsider my calling. Maybe I have at least one more career change in me? https://t.co/uU2fz8KTzn
They are the same as question #1 :) @gcouros@RaeHughart@charlieborak they have completely changed my focus and mindset. More impact on me than they they will ever know! #LearnLAP
Hello everyone! This is my first time participating in a tweetchat! I am a student at UW-Platteville and this is for my Educational Media Theory Class. Go check it out!! #uwpsoe2010#learnlap
This one is easy!! @gcouros...make my classroom one I would want to be in! @RaeHughart...the grid method and entrepreneurship! @charlieborak ...makes taking risks easy when you have the support! #learnlap
A3: Being that I'm not in the classroom full time yet I haven't been able to see this as much but I LOVE art and I really hope to be able tp reach students with that same passion down the road!#learnLAP
A3 I am a very open minded person. I believe everyone Has something beautiful to offer and I think we should all try to take the time to learn more about each other. I use this to learn as much as I can about new people.
#learnlap
A3: I like to think my humor. It has helped me build some great relationships with Ss and Ts. I want to bring a smile to people I interact with (Just don't tell Dwindle or he might try to pull out a tooth!) #learnlap
A3: What's unique about me is growing up I hated school because of the teasing and sit-n-get and lessons that were disengaging. I strive to be the opposite of all those. I use my past to drive the present and make learning fun while feeling cared about and accepted #learnlap
A3 #LearnLAP
I'm a risk taker. If I believe in something, I believe there is something I can do to contribute. I try and model that in my life. It's actually a stressful character trait. lol
i am brand new to Twitter chats with educators. I am an Aspiring teacher and this is such a great way for me to connect with others! I’m so excited! #learnlap
I am able to understand kids and love them for who they are where they are at. I think everyone of my colleagues has something for me learn from! When people are appreciated it is easy to connect with them. #LearnLAP
A3: IDK if this is really unique, but I am great at finding the connectedness of what appears to be a random assortment of stuff. This skill makes me a good learning coach. Deep inside everyone knows the answers, they just need guidance #learnLAP
A3- Lived And loved in a Foster Home fir 20 years! Saw many kids come and go and at an early age taught me about life! This has always allowed me to know there’s more to our kids than we’ll ever know! So much easier to love on kids with this knowledge! #blessed#LearnLAP
Yay! Love when preservice Ts start connecting with vets and learning together. Also, important fact about your school. It was the home of summer training camp for the Chicago Bears. #learnlap
#LearnLap A2a @burgessdave is one prolific publisher. I’ve had to pause my book buying so I can finish reading the last dozen or so I’ve bought from his company. Amazing stuff I enjoy reading.
A3) One thing that is unique about me is my strive to find something in common with my fellow peers. I feel it is important to have a bond with students and peers. To me that is a step in the right direction towards gaining trust and receiving respect from students. #LearnLAP
Q1: As a student pursuing a degree in education, there have been many educators in my life who have had a great impact on me. This aspires me to return their kind gestures to my future students someday. #LEARNLAP
A3 I think what is unique about me is that I walk a line of seriousness and goofability that doesn’t come close to fitting the mold of the avg principal #LearnLAP
A3: I don’t have a shiny nose but I do shine in my patience. I try to be cognizant of the fact that we all learn and grow at our own pace. Baby steps are just as important as big leaps. Just stay the path wether is academic or SEL challenges patience is key. #LearnLAP
A3: jumping in late, but everything about me is unique... I’m wayyyy quirky, sound like a child, have crazy ideas, etc. but I use these things to show my students it’s okay to be different that you don’t have to be what you aren’t simply to fit in. #LearnLAP
A3: what’s unique about me is that I love math and science but am an artist...an odd mash up of sorts but love to merge all the worlds and do so in my teaching as well. #LearnLAP
A2 my educational hero is my ed tech teacher at #austinpeay, @drzimmerle. She is a,axing and has opened a whole new world of technology to me while I am trying to become a teacher! She is my ed hero! #learnlap
A3: I'd like to think that my desire to learn, grow and have fun doing it makes me unique. I want my school to be a place where everyone loves coming to work and to learn. We are a family and I want people to know that I am there to do whatever it takes for them! #learnlap
At times it's not easy because I have colleagues who turn their noses against my ideas and "out-ness" and wanting to implement new ideas/topics...BUT that doesn't deter me! #learnlap
A3: I am a firm believer of challenging the status quo. Think outside the box. Do things different. I encourage my staff to do the same and be risk takers. #LearnLAP
A3: what’s unique about me@is my creativity. I never would have said that 5 years ago. I put my creativity into designing lessons to help connect Ss to history. #LearnLAP
A3: I am loud and unpredictable. I love to cause shenanigans. I have a short attention span and can’t sit very long (based on my pt experiences, I would say 5 minutes is my max before I get wiggles) I am creative and think everything is funny, including the ss. #LearnLAP
I completely agree! I am an aspiring teacher as well and my college professors have had a huge impact and have given me a mood that I would like to fit for my future students! :)#learnlap
A3. I think being a scientist, sometimes we look at things a little differently compared to other people! Is there a cause producing an effect relationship? Driving curiosity, exploration, questioning in Ss!#learnlap
A4: The fact that I have followed my vision of having a school diversity club and begin to bring more awareness of self-identify, race, and culture #LearnLAP
A3 Just now joining in. Valinda, literacy consultant from TX.
I am great at generating ideas (StrengthFinders--Ideation). I use that help colleagues think outside the box when planning unit design, solving problems, troubleshooting solutions. #LearnLAP
A3 I might be a bit older; but, I've learned to be a risk-taker. I learn something new every single day with my little ones. I realize the importance of slowing down, reflecting on authentic lrng & am thrilled to pass that knowledge on to others. #LearnLAP
A4- Really refocusing on the WHY of my teaching and making my curriculum a more whole student approach....I have done this in the past but being more intentional about it this year #LearnLAP
A4 My glows would have to be when a parent new to our district said they moved to our town because people told her we have the best school in the county and they heard great things about me. Warmed my heart #LearnLAP
Love that concept!! One of my GLOWS is working with my grade partner to create common formative assessments that help guide my teaching more than ever. #LearnLAP
A4: Getting over some bumps first 2 mons of the yr, embracing new ways of thinking, changing good to make way for great, making my classroom more S centered, and having the best year of teaching! #LearnLAP
#LearnLAP A3 Quiet Leadership, ability to listen, see from multiple perspectives & willingness to take risks and stand up for and with educators to bring our best to students
A4: One of my GLOWS this year has been watching kindergarten students become more independent in their learning and seeing the excitement on their faces when we talk about stretching our brain. Thanks goes out to @diane_mackinnon for the growth mindset read aloud. #LearnLAP
A4: Big glow this year would be #AppsDay. It is a hyperdoc I designed to teach Ss about the essential apps they would need this year. My ITRT @PHausTech (@vste outstanding coach of the year receipient) agreed to come in and co-teach it with me back in August! #learnlap
A4: One of my Glows from this year has been completing my book uNforgettable https://t.co/eKx698MXkR and the encouraging positive impact it is having on teachers. #learnlap
A4- Glows are the changes I’ve made. Flexible seating, greeting each student at the door with a high five and greeting/question, leading a book review on “Help for Billy” and leading PD on Trauma! #babysteps#LearnLAP
#LearnLap A3a Dunno that I’d say unique, but I benefitted from making it to 60+, especially after reading this quote attributed to Shirley MacLaine.. https://t.co/K07nYzggxq
A4: being more communicative with parents through Seesaw and students getting annoyed turning things into it in the moment but love showing their parents what they do. #LearnLAP
A4 Three and half years ago, I started a project not knowing if it would ever pay off. It has (beyond my expectations). That's my GLOW for this year. #hardworkpaysoff#learnlap
A3: I love school and I love to read. I played school when I was little. It really bothers me when kids say they don't like school or don't like to read. So, I have a ton of books in my room that Ss can borrow. #LearnLAP
A4: my Glow is getting my non verbal students to start talking in art class...it’s the biggest thrill in the world to see that art has allowed them to access abilities others thought they didn’t have! #morethanalabel! #LearnLAP
A4: One of my glows was being able to create a QR Code math lesson that was used in the classroom and the Ss loved, it was so encouraging to see something I made be not only used but enjoyed #LearnLAP
#LearnLAP A4 Transformational thinking that began with educators this summer through book studies and has carried into this year...a renewed passion for serving students literacy needs 🙌
A4: The love I have found for the integration of technology in my teaching. I have been one to be against this way of learning, but have found through my EDU Tech class that there is more to students retaining knowledge than the use of paper and pencil. #LearnLAP
A4:As Principal this is one of the coolest things I have ever done with my staff and students. We opened Friday's Talent Show with this song from the Greatest Showman. Great team work and definitely stepped outside my comfort zone. All for kids! https://t.co/NbdTrXkdbM#learnlap
@WymansWonders, You were actually the very first person I connected with - one year ago when I joined Twitter. I felt like I might actually belong here! #LearnLAP
In reply to
@WymansWonders, @burgessdave, @burgess_shelley, @Mrs_Penlington, @dmyerspa, @mafost, @RitaWirtz, @WymansWonders
#LearnLap A3b I would encourage you to not wait to get old and just dance like you mean it. Have crazy ideas and collaborate with others to make ‘em happen.
A4: one of my glows this year - trying out Wonder projects at the end of units. Ss have a chance to research and share something that interests them that’s related to a unit we just finished. We had a Colonial Wonder Project and a Revolution Wonder Project. #LearnLAP
#LearnLAP A4. My glow was my community service program for students' and the #TeachSDGs initiative... students' adapted beautifully....grow...I need to inculcate more reading skills and habits in my kids
A4: One glow this year is hearing that a student wakes up and is excited to come to school when that hasn’t been the case before. As a 1st year teacher, this means the world. #LearnLAP
A4: I’ve been a bit stagnant because well... I can’t walk... but I tried #steam challenges and love them do so much. In fact, I’ve been waiting to decide what to pursue my next degree in. And I think in a few years, I want to get my doctorate in #STEAM education. #LearnLAP
A5 I am just learning how important and helpful technology is for educators, so I feel like I need to GROW in that area. I need to continue to educate myself in ways to expand my knowledge
#learnlap
It's amazing how fast our kindergarteners change/grow in these first few months of school - I can't believe the transformation that I'm seeing in many of my students! #LearnLAP
A5: As a preservice teacher I have leaps and bounds to go but I know there is so much to be learned. I really hope to keep my attitude one of excitement and joy when it comes to learning new things this next semester!#LearnLAP
#LearnLap A4a The aforementioned video streaming I do at conferences & #EdCamps.. it started with the essential question, “How can I help transfer the #KnowHow from a conference experience to others?” So my glow’s giving #shinyobject [crazy] ideas a shot.
Q3: I would like to think that I have the skill of patience. Sometimes students just do not want to cooperate but with a little TLC and patience, they will eventually come around. #LEARNLAP
A5- Amy you are on it with the questions tonight! I want to grow on being a better teacher. I know its broad but I know I can be more dynamic. I teach at a tough school and know there are so many more kids I can reach...time to up my game! #LearnLAP
A5: As a pre-service teacher I'm doing a lot of growing! There are so many areas I can learn and grow in from managing a class to PLN to teaching students, it's all about the growing right now #LearnLAP
A5: is like to integrate ore technology into the art room...we just received 5 tablets thru #donorschoose and want the kids merging art and technology in new and unique ways #LearnLAP
A5. I need to focus on remaining unstressed in a classroom. I am a person who tends to get stressed out if the classroom gets chaotic. My stress only stresses the students out. I plan to grow in this area by seeking advice from experienced educators. #LearnLAP
#LearnLAP A4 My glow is also my grow right now. I am working hard to put on an event for Ts that financially supports classrooms. It is my goal to donate a million $ into classrooms over the next 10 years but I need this first one to work and I've never done anything like it.
A5: I'd like to work on providing students with more opportunities to explore social/emotional learning. So much happening outside of school that we need to meet students where they are and talk about how they can be their best inside and outside of school. #learnlap
A5: Putting on a mask to hide my true emotions. There's been too many times that a colleague asks me why I didn't particpate "as much" or asks me "what's wrong" & it's b/c I focus more on Ss during the day than meetings w/ repetitive information #learnlap
A4 another glow would be seeing our late assignments and D/F list shrink by leaps and bound over the last 4 yrs. increased engagement in our building has changed us tremendously #LearnLAP
A5: I want to focus on learning as much as I can and continuing to have a growth mindset. I have a lot to learn as a 1st year teacher, but I am thankful that I am not stagnant. #learnlap
A5- Continuing to implement changes to curriculum to allow more individualized learning through projects, etc. also continue to grow in addressing students individually and privately instead of in front of others! #challengeisreal#LearnLAP
A5: how to make IEP progress tracking easier. The system I have now works and is organized, but there has to be an easier more efficient way. #LearnLAP
A4 Since we loop, I'm back in kindergarten this year - and absolutely adore my new class. They are engaged & responsive, positively charming & thrilled to learn each day! Our beautiful community we've created makes me glow each day. #LearnLAP
A5: I need to get more organized. I start off the year organized and stuff just grows in my Google Drive then it’s cluttered before I know. I can find what I need but it’s a mess! #LearnLAP
A5: I want to improve my ability to construct probing questions that will more efficiently guide teachers to a deeper, more authentic understanding of best practices for Ss. #LearnLAP
A5: I am focusing on GROWING my kindergarten centers to give students more choice and flexibility in activities. Finding a balance between wanting to direct their activities and letting them learn through exploration. They learn best from each other. #LearnLAP
Thanks to everyone who participated in this evening's #LearnLAP! Especially to @amynicolebettis for moderating a VERY creative & entertaining chat!
Join us next week as @Mrs_H5th moderates, but for now, please jump over to #tlap to learn from one of my #EduHeroes: @GustafsonBrad
A5: Being able to annotate a clear target. To me students can better understand what they are learning, and the different keywords that can be used throughout the lesson. #LearnLAP
#LearnLap A5a I could be better asking for help, sooner rather than later. Like with the video streaming I do.. asking an event coordinator about setting up their network to support the #SwitcherStudio app I use to allow for multicam is a recent thing.
A4&5 A glow is recognizing teachable moments and letting Ss take the lead (creating a Ss government in the class bc of interest) and a grow is providing more PBL opportunities that connect with our thematic studies. #LearnLAP
A4: One of my "glows" from this year was empowering the incredible educators at @QAISEdu to powerfully and purposefully combine Montessori with writing workshop. 💖💖https://t.co/yOdarBu1WY#learnlap
A5: I would like to continue to implement performance learning tasks for students to develop skills that include (as much as possible) the #5Cs. #learnlap
In fact...you may be the catalyst for me jumping the wake into the Instant Relevance Podcast!!! Knowing educators like to will be listeners makes all the difference #learnlap#makeitreal@InstantRel
A6: Working as a team can go one of two ways, group work or collaborative/cooperative learning - try and avoid group work! You want everyone on the team to be an active participant so you can all grow #LearnLAP
I agree! I am currently a substitute teacher at an elementary school. I can always tell what teacher has a structured classroom and who doesn’t! #LearnLAP
A6:Team work often poses some situations where ideas may not be shared by all. In these times it is so important to remind those involved that everyone's opinion matters and there is something to be learned from them. #LearnLAP
#LearnLap A5b Dunno why I’ve been reluctant to do so earlier. Maybe it’s because I’m not quite there on F.A.I.L? You know, acknowledging that getting it right the first time isn’t what it’s about. I can thank @jcorippo for encouraging me to ask.
A6 One hurdle is trust and being able to see feedback from peers as help not a judgement. This comes with building a solid foundation when it comes to relationships and strengthening our ability to listen and reflect #LearnLAP
I have the best grade partner @charlieborak and we overcome all the hurdles together. As a class we are a pretty awesome team that helps each other over hurdles everyday :) #LearnLAP
A6 Common hurdle is not being on the same page. It is important to share agendas, share PLC norms, share activities and strategies often, and most importantly listen. #LearnLAP
A6: I’ve struggled finding other Ts who share my joy and love for the profession. I’ve been able to get around this by building a PLN and talking to other Ts on Twitter #learnlap
A5: One of my "grows" is taking a big step by leaving my current school in order to move full-time into my work as an international literacy consultant. I'm so excited for the learning and growth to come! #learnlap
Blended learning is sometimes called the in-class flip. You are blending traditional instruction with videos and digital tools. There are a lot of great resources out there about it #learnlap
A5 As a consultant, I work with coaches to support them as they work with teachers. I want to grow in knowing how to facilitate change that is positive. It's so hard for teachers to implement new initiatives without stress. Their work is already tough. #learnlap
Looping sounds like such an amazing thing - you must get to know your students and families so well after 2 years! But it's quite difficult for me to say goodbye to them after one year - I can't imagine how hard it would be after bonding for 2 years!! #LearnLAP
I too would like to find an easier way. I took each of my Ss goals and created a google form that I could quickly fill out at the end of each class period #LearnLAP
A5 My biggest "grow" continues to be...
taming that blog!
I can teach authentically,
collaborate,
connect with parents,
inquire & pose questions,
reflect with little kids.
But, capturing it all to share with others?!?
It's become quite the challenge!
#LearnLAP
A6: Common hurdles are remembering to put the kids first & focusing on the things we can control rather than spend time focusing on the things we can’t control. Having a, “we can” because kids deserve it mindset. Staying positive looking for ways to grow. #LearnLAP
A6: The greatest hurdle for me being the SPED T on my team is being in the know of what's being taught in class. It's difficult to provide reading or activity supplementsk when I am not in the know. Overcoming this hurdle is by having team meetings #LearnLAP
A5: I am growing in using #retrievalpractice with flashcards and #knowledgeorganizers. I'm learning how to boost my students vocab and content knowledge with simple tools while making them fun for students to use
#LearnLAP
A6: A common hurdle is being afraid to step outside your comfort zone and take risks. We have to be willing to create "uncommon experiences for kids and they will reward you with uncommon effort and attitude." Love that quote from @burgessdave#tlap#learnlap
#LearnLap A6a I used to work in high technology manufacturing, making memory, CPUs.. 15 years on my main takeaway was learning about Team Development, specifically the Tuckman model.. https://t.co/zGoI1uHtSz
A7: I'm the Team 7 leader and a member of both the school and division's Innovation Committees. I've learned a lot about the complexities of school leadership. I think I have also learned how to find my voice in these environments. #learnlap
Thank you SO much! It can be very difficult but I know that in the end it will be worth it! It means the world to me to know that I have educators cheering me on! #LearnLAP
A6 When teams meet a common hurdle focusing on the low hanging fruit of agenda items of schedule & policy. A focus on student learning & pedagogy develops strong teams & allows for us to show vulnerability which eventually leads to improved practice. #LearnLAP
A6: some tt are mean and negative They don’t know they are mean and negative I control what I can control, which is what goes on in my room. I don’t stop being me or talking positively about ss, and sometimes it rubs off. it makes me sad when I hear not nice things. #LearnLAP
A5: Sometimes I can be a little old fashion with what technology I'd like to use in the class. I need to learn to be a little less skeptical and see just what possible tools are out there #learnlap
#LearnLAP Q5 - For me its building connections. I make them on here but I would really like to build some meaningful collaboration outside of chats. At the same time I'm an introvert so it's a struggle for me.
A7: I was able to read a story aloud and then build off of it with a worksheet in a classroom I observed in, it was so great to be able to put myself out there, see what was working and see how receptive the kids were even after knowing me for only a few hours #LearnLAP
A6: Trust. It's vital to form a foundation of true dialogue: What are our principles? What are our nonnegotiables? What do we expect from ourselves & each other? Dialogue builds trust. And trust opens the door to true relationships. https://t.co/7Bv59Wtn8z#learnlap
A7 for me it goes back about 8 years when my principal at the time started to leave me in charge when he left. It gave me confidence and a new perspective. It became a life changing experience #LearnLAP
A7- Been given time at Faculty meetings and hoping for PD time on Trauma! Biggest thing I’ve learned is to be prepared and knowledgeable. No winging it like I can do in classroom. #LearnLAP
#LearnLAP A7 multiple & varied...always humbling...importance of always keeping realistic lenses on & to remember positive presupposition over assumptions
A7: There isn't much for leading since there are individuals who have support roles (no students all day) who will take charge of leading staff collabs #LearnLAP
A6:I think one of the biggest obstacles is the different experiences, points of view, priorities and beliefs that team members bring to the table. Sometimes it’s hard to find common ground. However, keeping the vision in the forefront at all times always helps! #learnLAP
A6 Honestly I believe one hurdle is diff in philosophy. It's so much easier to collaborate & connect w/ others when you have shared beliefs about how kids learn. I (gratefully) work at a school where we hire like-minded, inquiry-based teachers. #LearnLAP
A6: lack of communication as well willingness to listen to others view point or ideas...magic occurs when we listen to each other and hear possibilities #LearnLAP
#LearnLap A6b Practicing Tuckman’s Model a team has a better chance of making it through to performing.
To review: If you want your team to overcome the hurdles it helps to know what they are.
A7: It may sound cliché but the saying "lead by example" has held true for me and I have seen it be successful in those I've been lead by and those I've been able to lead. "Actions speak louder than words" #LearnLAP
A7: As Principal it is being sure that I help empower my staff to lead. We have some tremendous leaders. Capitalize on their strengths, celebrate them and encourage them to shine. Leaders that come from within provide strength throughout your school! #learnlap

We've met once, and will meet again before Christmas break. I love getting to know each reader.

A7: Every day. As the instructional leader of a campus with 98% economically disadvantaged, 86% EL, and 98% at risk yet a top performing campus. Every student, every day! #LearnLap
A7: my best leading opportunitieshave been on here hosting chats. It gave me the chance to voice an opinion or view and have others agree or disagree but I grew from both in remarkable ways! #LearnLAP
Hi Erik, while I hear you, reach out to those in support roles & share some of your ideas. A worthwhile PLC focusing on language of diversity (ex: gender specific language) could be a place to start. I'm a support person & am always excited when I'm able to co-host #learnlap
A5 While I am overly positive just that inward critic and letting certain things get to me still—and improving/leveling up all the other areas #LearnLAP
A7 I am lucky to have admin who wants to grow teachers in many different ways. I have led PD, co-planned school-wide events, and mentored Ts. #learnLAP
A7: One opportunity I've been given to serve is through working with schools around the world in amplifying inquiry and honoring agency across reading and writing workshops. I learn so much while working with incredible educators. https://t.co/zsfSpQy8Pb#learnlap
Those are wise words. There’s so much talent and leadership in any given building. The secret is tapping into that great resource to promote student and adult success!! #LearnLAP
A7 I am Co-Chairperson of our local Teacher Center and on my district PD team. I get to help direct a lot of the PD opportunities in the area. It is a lot of work, but very rewarding to see the impact. #LearnLAP
A7 Developing a new professional growth model that honors individual growth edges. I have learned that time is sacred, change is hard, and educators want to improve but they desire the support to do so. Glad to report we are making great strides! #LearnLAP
#LearnLAP A7a It was whilst I worked with Hughes Aircraft Company in ’76 that I first heard of the Peter Principle (see https://t.co/SZ2KmRdbgD) for reference.. +
How neat! I look forward to using that in my classroom someday. I personally think it will be nice to still have some of the traditional instruction that I grew up with, yet also be able to teach with a more modern twist with technology. Thank you again for your time! #LEARNLAP
A7: Being a mentor for building interns and new teachers. I have learned that when reflecting on their practices it helps me to reflect on my own as well. We are all better together and we are our own best resources. I’ve learned so much from these experiences. #LearnLAP
I have a google sheet I use and tabs for each goal and kids listed who have the goal... But I have the data to plug into that in like 5 places because stations or whatver so it feels like a jumble of chaos. #LearnLAP
A7 I've been blessed to have dozens of interns since '99. In collaborating w/ young Ts, I constantly look closely at my practices & answer ?s. I've been fortunate to present at conferences. To present well, I have to know my beliefs & ensure my practices reflect them. #LearnLAP
#LearnLAP A7b As 20 year old tech I didn’t think much of it. 40+ years later I can tell you the Peter Principle is a thing. Rather than lead I like being in teams where leadership is situational.
A7: Having the opportunity to be a Nanny. By having that role I not only am teaching right from wrong, monitoring their growth in education, but communicating with the parents. I have learned that not all children are the same, but communication is key. #LearnLAP

A8: I have found being in a community of preservice teachers at GCC has been especially encouraging. I try my best to be there for those around me. We all have different strengths and weaknesses and we can encourage one another in our weaknesses with our strengths.#LearnLAP
#LearnLAP A7c I learned whilst serving in the US Navy that a leader’s most important job is developing the next generation of leaders.. situational leadership is great for that. https://t.co/ZvtZMSrWra
Everyday!!!! I intentionally acknowledge effort, talent and kindness kids demonstrate. It’s amazing how a little encouragement sparks motivation! #learnLAP

#LearnLAP A6 - Trust and that competitive-one up- mentality.
I think if we take ownership of all the students and their successes then we can celebrate and collaborate the path to get there.
A7: In the 4 years I have been an IC and the year step back I've taken, I have learned to truly "seek first to understand, then be understood" or shut up, sit down, and listen (that order)... Then speak. Who knew? #GrannyDid#LearnLAP
A8: I always love to be able to encourage others by showing them how they've impacted me, right now this has a lot to do with my PLN, when I get a shout out, comment or a retweet it feels super cool so I try to do the same for other :D #LearnLAP
A8: I think it goes back to Q6; when Ts work, share & talk together, you can encourage each other. Share what worked for you, what you could change or how to improve. #LearnLAP
A8 My friend is pregnant. She has dr. appts in the a.m. Sometimes she might be a few minutes late to class. I'm there, just in case. I encourage her to take care of herself and not to worry. We need to take care of each other. This is one way I can help. #learnlap
A8: Words of affirmation is one of my top love languages, so because of that I think I naturally give students and others words of affirmation and I’m 90% of the time optimistic. #LearnLAP
A8 My colleagues and I eat lunch with our Ss everyday. Having informal conversations over a meal helps our students open up. These moments are filled with our encouragement and appreciation of their hard work in and out of school. #LearnLAP
A8: Telling students and staff that I appreciate what they do as often as possible. Also, every time I hear someone expressing good things about a third person, I make sure I pass the message without revealing the source! It shows them that what they do is noticed! #LearnLAP
