A1: I have wanted to teach for as long as I can remember. I had so many great teachers from elementary all the way to high school - all in @graniteschools too! #UTedChat
A1: David Seiter, my AP European History teacher @NRidgeKnights It didn't occur to either of us at the time...but would come back once I got my TA job @BYU and found I loved the thrill of teaching #utedchat
A1 Like many Ts I have a long line of educators in my family. My mom, grandmother, aunts, uncles, etc. The teacher who made a lasting impact - Kris Seiter. #UTedchat
A1: I had two great teachers in High School that had a big influence on my becoming a teacher. They were pretty awesome teachers! #UTedchat@bmgollinger
A1: My parents were both educators (elementary principal and middle school librarian). They are always learning and sharing what they know. And there was this other guy named Mr. Keating...
#utedchat
A1: My high school history teacher...he just loved what he did, and everyone loved being in his class even though it was straight lecture for 90 minutes. #utedchat
A1: I feel very fortunate to teach in the district I attended as a student. I've been able to thank many of my teachers and work with some of them too! #UTedChat
Sadly I had more people trying to convince me NOT to go into teaching. Said I couldn't support a family (I sure showed them!) and that I was so smart that I could do anything I wanted. Teaching was what I wanted and I'm awesome at it. #utedchat
A1
I became a teacher because I have such a bad experience in school because of a learning disability that I wanted to make a difference in struggling students lives. #utedchat
Looking back, the fact that I made my little brother math worksheets for fun may have been a sign, but I didn't decide to major in education until I was 21, started teaching at 23. #utedchat
I had an amazing computer teacher my Jr. Year in High School who took the time to help me program a dance invite that automatically ran on a boys computer when he logged on. #UTedChat
A2: I hope that my students remember me as the teacher who let them be creative, believe in their dreams, and was and will always be willing to help them anyway I can. #utedchat
A2: Well, in the classroom I'm always shooting for 'firm but fair' but long-term I hope I inspire students to use the power they have to be change agents for good in the world. They don't realize their power. #utedchat
A2: If this is a multiple choice question I'd say a mixture of all of them, but especially Snape (just kidding). Favorite thing a past student told me "Mr. Scott, I've never had so much fun being pushed to work so hard" That would be my answer. #utedchat
A2: I have saved many notes from students over the years, and especially appreciate it when the PTA makes books for teacher appreciation week! Here’s some of my favorites ❤️ #UTedChat
A2: Hope my students remember what they do in my class. They may not remember me, but the best complement is if down the road they are able to do something because of what I had them do.
#UTedChat
A1: I always thought about being a teacher (I can't think of one specific instance that caused it). I can think of a teacher I wanted to be when I grew up... Mr T @jtrimingham from Elk Grove High (CA). I'll never forget those cats we dissected... #UTedChat
A2: Unfortunately I’ll be remembered by about 24 kids back in Maryland as the teacher who dropped the F Bomb and 6 other cuss words when I found a snake by the classroom door. #utedchat
I love that so many teachers want to be remembered as someone who believed in their students. STUDENTS NEED someone who see's their potential and we have some great ones here at #UTedChat tonight!
A3: @HSG_UT Your Utah Teacher Fellows are busy raising awareness about what's really going on in the profession - with positive solutions too. And I love @SteeleThoughts for motivational, inspirational REAL commentary on how we do right by kids, #utedchat
A3 Diane Ravich @DianeRavitch for what is going on in educational policy and politics and my favorite, Bad Ass Teachers' Association @BadassTeachersA . The name says it all. #UTedchat
A3: I am new to twitter. I recently created an account in my ETEP class taught by @bmgollinger, so I do not have any to recommend at the moment. #UTedChat
This list of 100 Utah Educators to Follow on Twitter is a pretty good place to start. Headlined by @covili and @lars3eb, or just follow all 100. #utedchat
A3 I'm very impressed with @lars3eb and his PLN. They are truly a group that looks out for one another and tries to make a difference for teachers. #UTedchat
be sure to check out some of the recommendations tonight... I joined twitter during ETEP with @bmgollinger 3 years ago and thought I'd never use it... and now here I am, moderating #utedchat :)

I've already posted three replies during this chat and forgot the hashtag, so I deleted them and tried again. You would think a computer teacher like me would be a natural at this, not! #UTedChat#gsdetep
A3: Any English teacher should read everything they can from @KellyGToGo. I have loved how he teaches reading and writing by example. Also @alicekeelerorg for all the brilliant ideas on using Google. @rickwormeli2 for his big-picture perspective of education. #UTedChat

A4: On a local level, I love the @KSL5TV teacher feature. It's nice to see great teachers throughout the state being recognized for their hard work. https://t.co/OCqm5J8HiL#UTedChat
I really enjoy using tweetdeck (especially when moderating). I like being able to have multiple columns open to keep up. I also have the twitter app on my iphone to keep up with notifications #utedchat

A4: Indirectly they give us plenty of ways to connect what they do with what the students are learning to do. Sometimes this works because of their non-examples. #utedchat
A4: Ellen DeGeneres (sp?) does a great job of featuring, praising, and supporting teachers who have the courage to teach in challenging paces. #utedchat
A4: I think @TeachersSeries is funny, although it definitely portrays the worst stereotypes of teachers in public education today. Many story-lines are very relatable as a teacher today #UTedChat
A4 I think the media has a huge opportunity to share the great stories about education. I love it when I see Ts being honored in the community. #UTedchat
A4: It’s always heartwarming when a celeb or the media does a great story on public ed, but I’d love to see teachers sharing their own successes more regularly! #utedchat
A4: I love it when @TheEllenShow spotlights teachers and donates to classrooms in need. Now if I could only figure out how to get tickets to her #12DaysofGiveaways :) #UTedChat
A4: The media and celebrities can't share the awesome things we are doing if we hide them under a bushel, or something like that. We have to take control of the narrative and be willing to promote our own awesome sometimes. #utedchat
A4: Interestingly, stories in the media provide great bonding conversations between myself and the teachers in my hall. On the same note, media stories also spark good conversations in the classroom too. #UTedChat
A2: I hope my students remember that in my class it was a safe place to make mistakes and take risks. I hope they remember the level of engagement they experienced and that I truly cared :) #UTedChat
A5: Um...High School Musical's East High of course! If I could hang out with Zac Efron and sing and dance my way through every class period, life would great! #UTedChat
A5: I was very inspired by Mr. Browne in @WonderTheMovie and would definitely love to teach alongside him! We need more great teachers like him in our world today. #UTedChat
Speaking of poor media portrayal of teachers...history always seems to get such a bad/boring rap! I love that you're trying to improve the situation. #UTedChat
There are two high schools in Utah that have been featured in major motion pictures. East High used for High School Musical, and Ogden High for Three O’Clock High https://t.co/YnwFPumEup It’s even on the DVD cover! #utedchat
A5: First choice Hogwarts, second choice East Dillon High so I could get inspirational speeches from Coach Taylor whenever I need them #fnl#texasforever#utedchat
A5: I'd want to teach at Hawkins High School so I can be the next Mr. Clark for the kids when they get to High School next season of Stranger Things. #UTedChat
A5: I would teach in Dillon Texas at Permian High School...Home of Panther Football. Not because I love football, but that is one happening small town. #utedchat
Ain't that the truth? We History-types get some love in The Emperor's Club, but as a rule I don't like the unrealistic expectations that come out of teacher movies. #UTedChat
Wouldn't it be amazing to teach students to channel their unique powers to make the world a better place? Oh wait...we already have those opportunities every day! ;) #utedchat
A6: this one is easy for me. "Every child needs a champion: an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists they become the best they can be." #ritapierson#UTedChat
Love the chat tonight. Thanks to @missplott for the awesomeness. Next week I'll lead the discussion as we get in the trenches with your teacher stories. #UTedchat
A6: What does't kill you makes you stronger? Or maybe 'Just keep swimming?' Or perhaps 'This too shall pass.' Or maybe the entire speech from Admiral McRaven's commencement address...esp. the part abt laughing when things are at their worst #utedchat
