A2 HyperDoc keeps everything in one place for teachers! A great excuse to get away from the"Teacher Book"
more interaction with the students! Yay!
A3: When Ts create HD’s based on a video or article they find, their own engagement for lesson design increases!
A3: Comes back to . Use them for your PD & empower Ts to control their own learning & pacing. https://t.co/suZikt6GgA
I encouraged Ts to go with HyperDocs for the SBAC Performance Task activity lesson. Students. Loved. It.
A3: Increase teacher engagement by being an in the trenches leader. Modeling, co-teaching, planning w/teachers, pushing-in to plc.
Go to and follow along, I am new to it. i haven't done one.. still learning.
thats a good one!! We all need a little friend push sometime!!
Del Mar I agree that there is an opportunity for a lot of collaboration when using GV https://t.co/vQnfjuN10N
Alright, Brandi, you will have to explain that one to me. I don't use GC, but how is it not collaborative?
How about ?! She'd be a good resource.
Q3: Highlight teacher's strengths, let them be creative, more engaging PD
Looking for some 1st grade hyperdoc ideas. Would love an example for a T in my bldg
No time is a common theme too!!
A4 A big obstacle tends to be fear.
A4: pushing a bunch of tech out to teachers without giving them any training. The tech becomes very expensive paper & pencils!
I just need to start playing w platforms and experimenting!
Don't believe in failure ~just maybe a doc or idea which wasn't as effective no particular memory
A4 TIME They see it as one more thing rather than an innovative tool to teacher content WITH in a way that wasn't possible before.
Tips: Start with the first responders, or a teacher who is bored with curriculum.
So true! powerful learning
A4: Hurdles to implementing tech in classroom center around fear. Even strong systems don't work in weak culture. Build culture.
A4: the biggest hurdle is helping Ts understand that it's good to take risks and that failure is okay.
wow by showing. okay. i'll give it a go.
Connect with she is fantastic!
A4: Finding quality time to connect and hook those disinterested or scared is my challenge
A4: Rethinking what education should look like in 21st century and that learning doesn't happen from answers, but asking questions
A4 Another obstacle is the, "but we've always done it this way..." excuse.
A4: TIME is the biggest hurdle we have in education, never enough to plan and the idea of perfect hinders Ts
That's awesome Brandi! Would love to hear how you're doing it.
I rarely used Padlet now I use it ALL the TIME! Great for quick assessment
i would love to see some of those!!
A4: Convincing Ts it's not ONE MORE THING! bring tech and content together, as it should be https://t.co/amnLM8b41K
this is so vital to education today! https://t.co/SFV5owIO2A
A4: Rethinking what education should look like in 21st century and that learning doesn't happen from answers, but asking questions
Melanie, this is moving so fast I can't find pics of badges right now, but I'll share soon!!!
A4: Time, fear, "what I do works", laziness/"I'm not smart or talented enough for this"... all of the above
A4: Getting them in the same space as me, whether physically or digitally, to help them learn and grown.
Is anyone in tonight's discussion teaching about hyperdocs at ISTE?
A4: their own comfort level & willingness to take a chance and step outside the proverbial box
Learned about pecha kucha from at the Sonoma County I may have Ss try that.
Nice! I've got nothing to share at this point, but trying to learn up!
A4: Ts/Admin feel like they need to be an expert before letting Ss use a tool/app instead of just letting Ss go for it.
A3: Give teachers challenges, don't micromanage, inspire teachers toward greatness through acknowledgement of their efforts.
A4: lots of Ts still struggling with class management- we're working on better lesson design- which is REALLY the issue
Yeah, the race I made for Ts was all about Google tools they aren’t using. Will share folder.
HyperDocs help Ts imagine potential with familiar tool ... GAFE.
A4 Time is a huge obstacle. We are all busy. Learning new things can be very time consuming.
A4: getting Ts to open the door. I am so awesome, but a closed door and unwillingness to try is like kryptonite.
A4: Getting people to realize that its the goodies inside that help take tech from integration to transformation.
. "If we teach today's students as we taught yesterday's, we rob them of tomorrow" John Dewey
A4 Technology that is just substitution for non-tech Let's Redfine what we do with tech
Yes, that makes sense. Although, I go with Keynote for local presentations.
A4 Divergent ends to similar means = want what's best for Ss. Math problem which path is extrema among all paths
A4 I get very excited, and want all to be in on it, but not all are there...yet!
A4 Impatience. Ts getting frustrated w tech glitches. It's gonna happen. Troubleshooting teaching moment.
I'm hoping to check in on the voxer group this week to share how it's going
Thank you. Still working that one with ours too.
love ur new (to me) profile pic!!
Yes, time!! ⏰ https://t.co/Nemd40s8KT
A4: TIME is the biggest hurdle we have in education, never enough to plan and the idea of perfect hinders Ts
Anyone have an example of a hyperdoc used for staff PD. and I have created one but would like another example.
I love hyperslides too! You can directly infuse video! Who doesn't like to see a video without clicking https://t.co/x3WfiNkCb4
A3:Creating def engages me! Modeled cpl hyperslides lessons this yr &starting 2C interest among Ts! https://t.co/VPnzZr4U4v
A4 they think I am putting more work on them. I'm really just trying to make life easier
A4 hands down its blocked content...thinglink grr & Harry Potter reference #3 if you're counting. https://t.co/7LtY5bAmzW
A4: Ok, I know this 1! Teachers- I can’t do this, too complicated Admin: that sounds expensive, they won’t use it
A4 Pt 1vwas admin. Some Ts afraid of change and get overwhelmed. I try to get them to focus on 1 little thing and make it grow
Thanks, I know I have been absent for a bit from , glad to be back here.
A4: When the benefits of effective Tech integration is misunderstood
A4 (Pt 1) The extra work it takes to learn something new when you feel like what you already do works.
A4: Ts & Admin still believing tech is just for testing, not for learning.
Ts were not using it to take notes. Need to promote typing on it and also link to Twitter for examples
A4 It feels overwhelming to many Ts and like "one more thing."
A4: Encouraging risk taking for folks who lack that as a personal character trait to begin with.
did a great one for SBAC prep!!
nice to meet you. I was 10 years in classroom & this is 2nd year as a TOSA. Was in 1st for 7 years, 4 as 1:1 w iPads
My Ts are all about jumping into tech, but stuff happens. Lrning experience u know?
I LOVE these HP references Heather =) You're awesome!
A4 The biggest hurdles r those that r not even set up to try. The easy ones r the ones requesting 4 help
I love renting a classroom! ... "I don't have any Ss, can I borrow yours for this ?!" https://t.co/kZDpR3rhpx
A4: getting Ts to open the door. I am so awesome, but a closed door and unwillingness to try is like kryptonite.
Well said. It’s not 1 more thing.
Q4: Helping Ts to understand that it is not about the technology ...It's about great teaching.
A4 ....and when Ts or Admin see tech as the answer for everything. Major focus needs to be on 4C's and Blended Learning
the more I make them, the easier it gets. I get better at lesson design and how my Ss react since Im paying atten.
A4 (Pt 2) Pushing new mental models/pedagogy can be tough, too.
That would be great. I just caught up while on an evening walk. is an amzg resource!
A4: A lot of the same, time, always done this way. But also limitations on available tech.
and I enjoyed watching you use them while looking over your shoulder, so proficient
True but the best thing about teaching is changing...at least for me.
A4 Technical difficulties can be a huge obstacle! It's easy to quit when the wi-fi is weak.
I would LOVE to rent my classroom out for someone to teach a HD! https://t.co/KT3TCaKNtR
I love renting a classroom! ... "I don't have any Ss, can I borrow yours for this ?!" https://t.co/kZDpR3rhpx
A4: getting Ts to open the door. I am so awesome, but a closed door and unwillingness to try is like kryptonite.
one always should be tweaking and mixing up ideas! Never ever stays the same forever :)
So true. This is the most constant piece I hear from Ts (and felt as a T). Not enough of it!
This speaks to the importance of TOSAs & coaches! https://t.co/l6FPcBR3EC
A4: their own comfort level & willingness to take a chance and step outside the proverbial box
Yes, I used to plan them out, now I just start adding and then I fix them as I go along.
Nailed it...still lots of Ts that think of tech as separate thing, rather than fluid part of teaching/lrning
A4: -Technology time on the whiteboard! Changing mindsets! Seeing technology as a separate subject.
A4: this and getting Ts/Admin to understand they don't need to be an expert b4 using with Ss https://t.co/Pf9hrf658p
A4: Convincing Ts it's not ONE MORE THING! bring tech and content together, as it should be https://t.co/amnLM8b41K
Ss are like drones from the system! T learn to be creative w HD = CREATIVE Ss.. I
A4:Excuses,Content area silos, not understanding that deep planning is better than lecturing.
Ooooh hope so! I'd like to go to that session!!
For sure! Need time to show people how to shift efficiently.
At the root of this is fear. Fear of failing themselves in front of their students. https://t.co/8Gm6A0OrIJ
A4: Ts/Admin feel like they need to be an expert before letting Ss use a tool/app instead of just letting Ss go for it.
I need to jazz mine up more, add color, more pics, I'm getting there!
I teach the teacher while I'm teaching the student. Kinda have to bc lack of pd time
A4: Unwillingness to try something new.
But so relatable, I've been frustrated so many times too! : )
A4 it's important for me to let Ts dip their toes in while Ss are thrown right in to new tech esp. and
Ahhh blocked content. Because those crafty kids will never find a way around the block! ;) https://t.co/OoGsCZVuzG
A4 hands down its blocked content...thinglink grr & Harry Potter reference #3 if you're counting. https://t.co/7LtY5bAmzW
Yep. Working on the folder right now.
A4: the “I don’t have time” mentality; many would realize some new tricks could help speed up workflow & give Ss more opportunity
Question: How do Ss "submit" their completed ? Or do they?
Examples and zooming in on sections seem to help. I change my presentations for each group!
Yes, here too. Lots of times it's T lrng alongside Ss. Which is great!
thanks! I love this group! So many great insights! hard to keep up tonight!! Yay!
They can but I can't. Have to get them to show me how half the time.
One can learn a lot from a PowerPoint if one wants. Ask questions. Query the presenter. Query yourself.
YES! Silos. We need to get into integration! Def why I’m passionate about STEAM
Hey, I only see it because I am it too!
A4: One more thing- thinking they have to wait for training. Have you heard of Google?
Curious as well. Any document linked from Drive? https://t.co/Qv4nTyCNKT
Question: How do Ss "submit" their completed ? Or do they?
been trying to model patience with glitches its not a big deal in the grand scheme & part of beast i love
True. Ts need stress-relieving strategies too bc Ss see it & are affected
here's my issue tho-if it's IMPORTANT we make/find time! Let's find the time 2 do what's best for Ss
I don't have my kids submit as we have Hapara. I just go look!
A4b: Also helping Ts move beyond substitution
LOL, so true! Great minds! That's when you know you're better together
. saw this interview before super bowl & thought...this has GOT to go in a presentation I give someday!
It's small steps w some and going deeper w others.
that could be a lesson in itself ~Let the students problem solve tech obstacles ~they sometimes know the remedy
but we know tech = tools Ss can use to create, show what they know & share authentic voice w authentic audience
All stolen ideas: weekly drawing , using slides @ all , present in new window thank you
I struggled w that also- learned from - really copied hers for a long time
A5: Creativity overload -- I can reimagine old content in new ways!
Really appreciate the links to “hyperdoc overviews” and explanations!
same here small steps w Ts and deep jumps with Ss
Easy when assigned in Google Classroom or they can share it with you.
A4 Teacher stubbornness to change from what they think works bc "its worked for me this long so why change" - tude
Teacher learning alongside the student is awesome, but makes many Ts nervous. Ts want to be the "expert". https://t.co/zfE1dCl4jI
Yes, here too. Lots of times it's T lrng alongside Ss. Which is great!
A5 This year I've learned I can teach classes differently even though they are all the same and it's ok
Ask myself, “What is I can do now that I couldn’t do before?”
Exactly. It's not an IF anymore. It's WHEN and HOW. Time must be made during contractual hrs.
Ick, the silos!! I've been collabing lots w/our ela TOSA & modeling/encouraging interdisciplinary... Trying 😊
A5 I didn't get it at 1st, then I developed a format, now on 2nd evolution. Redefine purpose, audience, and reason!
A5: I keep wanting to HACK my hyperdocs and make them better..I love it..they get me thinking and reworking
A5: Creating forced me to continually attempt to add more and more multimedia & interactivity to learning platform.
A4: Ts afraid to learn WITH their Ss vs. becoming an expert on tech prior to implementing it in the classroom.
A5 I can add animation to a doc like this. .
I got to give some love to could Ryan could u post ur blog to newsletters?
& if Ts realized this planning would make grading less after hours they'd be all over it.
This made me think of a Friday reference. The gif is inappropriate though. Well...ref too.
A5 have changed the way I look at creating content & collab w/ Ts. Now see lessons & think "How can we this?"
So awesome when the Ss take big steps (always do!) + then they teach the T.
A5 some love to use them quietly on their own some classes want me to present them...hey whatever works right?
watch out ...we're going to be "renting" classrooms!!! LOVE it1 https://t.co/ppttuY5Lb7
I love renting a classroom! ... "I don't have any Ss, can I borrow yours for this ?!" https://t.co/kZDpR3rhpx
A4: getting Ts to open the door. I am so awesome, but a closed door and unwillingness to try is like kryptonite.
I agree, they are afraid to take the leap. Wimps!
now you're speaking my lang. That's my teaching mantra.
A5 have taught me to collaborate GLOBALLY
A5 Can add animated gif to a doc.
A5: Haven't made one YET. Collaborating w/ another T soon to take some of our best lessons and them. Inspired for more.
A5:All due to endlessness of . Living doc, never ending, always more to add, fosters creativity https://t.co/9GspoG7Qvw
they never think of it getting better, no matter how “good” they think they have it. I was guilty of this too!
They really make us up our game!
A3 T engagement by knowing their passions and why they teach. Ts are people too, who r they outside of school
Yep the ones who want it will get in touch with me and the others will hide under their rock :)
True. I see it as part of my job to help the T "let go" of that mindset, though!
A5: I use in PD delivery then Ts take the idea back to their classrooms
Yes!! Ss still love seeing a cartoon sing abt fractions way more than listening to me try to sing abt fractions ;)
A5: make me creatively consider offering choice and options - not "one size fits all" teaching https://t.co/kjo9MSKbuj
you're slamming it out of the park with all the great ed support graphics this evening!
A5: have allowed me to present a variety of resources to Ts in an organized manner
A5: Every time I make a I automatically think about how I'm going to incorporate S collab/sharing of all voices.
Yep, totally. Having supporting admin makes all the diff. Face time w Ts at staff mtgs, etc.
Our Ts constantly say "I'm learning right along w you!" to Ss. Awesome.
I'm late to the party, but I love ! Sophia from Salinas here
Q5: Thinking through instructional delivery and design is a process that forces me to think through each step of learning.
all part of the process of learning!
A5: have helped me learn to connect w educators on global scale - connection based learning!
My Ss teach me and my Ts so much every day Today I was caught forgetting to use a sharable link
Thank you, I can't get enough of these!
I tell myself they'll peek out either when they're ready or when admins says so.
woot!! glad to have you!!! is here too!! Three from the salad bowl!
A5: Colors, fonts, images, GIF’s, videos, links to websites, OH MY!
This! I've also created more of my own media for my https://t.co/V8pNREdiY1
A5: Creating forced me to continually attempt to add more and more multimedia & interactivity to learning platform.
Yes! We are all co-learners!
I did. I want to know if I was 1st on the list!!
A5: Creating hyperdocs has let me channel my inner creativity and understand the instruction shift better
My ss teach me so much! Love them
. If I was more gutsy, I'd love to completely get rid of copy machines...think of what that would do for instruction!
Some of us can cheat pretty well using slide themes...
A5 finding creative ways to infuse high interest stuff kids will connect with-worked dead pool into Sparta https://t.co/r2ECILXQzo
Is there a Hyperdoc Padlet to go on the Padlet of Padlets?
A5: 's bootcamp session at the creatively inspired me to offer summer PD!
I notice when I use HyperDocs with teacher PD - they want to use it with their students
A5: I'm still a hyperdoc newbie, but developing. And can see how things will evolve positively.
Did you say fonts? What about Word Art?
right?! maybe only keep one, with a limited supply of paper!!!
Generates such a great community of learners. Ts and Ss together. Not one-way!
Wow! Thanks for sharing. Never saw that video before.
Ahh narrow your vision is. More than one I become
We have to model our PD after what we want our Ts to use with their Ss!
You were already like that! Now you just share your Jedi awesome with others through !
I’m pretty sure this is on our list! https://t.co/Ws8Py7VhoB
Is there a Hyperdoc Padlet to go on the Padlet of Padlets?
And something we tend to forget..Excellent point! https://t.co/3DgyQnncsw
Q5: Thinking through instructional delivery and design is a process that forces me to think through each step of learning.
A5 changed the way I give out resources for Ts. No more cutting and pasting links from emails.
A5: newbie, but the inspired creativity is in my enthusiasm to get out there and create HDs for my Ss.
Creating HyoerDocs is not work...it's a hobby!
So what platforms do you use to make HDs?
Wow...ask and you shall receive everyone for sharing hyperdoc examples.
A5 constant reflection of how can the students be involved more & what can I do to improve my support
I know many of you are using Google products for hyperdocs. What other platforms are you using?
A5 Hyperdocs make delivering and collecting student responses so easy. Love the tables on a doc for students to respond to
Excellent way to get people hooked! https://t.co/j2bjD179Jg
A5: I use in PD delivery then Ts take the idea back to their classrooms
Awwww yeah! There she is! Thought you'd like tonight's topic ;)
i would love to check it out more for sure looks so engaging
I am waiting! Trying to be patient!
I'm so glad to hear that! Keep me posted on how it goes! I loved your classroom design!
I’ll add to that. The AMAZINGLY Awesome Karly.
21st century worksheet, but funner!
A4- Too many teachers are relying on TEs and when pushed, will generate a 7-step lesson plan, because that's what they know.
Popping in for the end. And I didn't want to miss this one.
This is that power i keep trying to pull you into!! https://t.co/7jDp8MPyFG
Wow...ask and you shall receive everyone for sharing hyperdoc examples.
I just can't bring myself to do it. I deleted the post. But we all know the line.
It was the first w/ . It started it all =)
Out early tonight ! Thanks to all the HD heroes out there!
I am on that list already!
I Think this should definitely be my next step!
This is EXACTLY how I feel!
LOL, true, but I don't have such great hair
WooHoo! Cant wait to share so much more that we've put in the book! Its been hard to hold back! https://t.co/93iQwjoRgT
Thanks for this. I'll send it to my Ss to teach me about.
The birth of our Padlet of Padlets.
thanks Kelly just filled it out!
Great question for us non-GAFE districts.
and we continue to model best practices so our Ts will want to do the same with their Ss! keep it up Holly!!!
A6: created an Aha! moment for teacher that previously was unsure how to digitize her content.
It's hard to break with what you know. It's hard to develop that culture of failure when it's not part of your world.
What would be an example of PD using hyperdocs?
Thank you for asking! It helped me, and I'll bet a lot of others, too!
Its been great! However my eyes are getting heavy & reading along w/writing is becoming difficult! TY U All 4sharing get convo!
A6 My "Aha" moment came when I realized that Redefinition, for me and the Ts I work with, was attainable through .
can u somebody share the HD resource you shared with with she is looking for more info
A6: "aha"- HD summer reading assignment for AP Eng. Lit from my former site. I'm making our Honors summer assignment an HD.
i think you could use office 365 word as it's online and somewhat collaborative.
A6) I love the look teachers have the first time when they see that it just works ...everything they wanted to happen just works.
Could easily do in Word too... We have a couple Ts repping Microsoft in the chat tonight I believe
Thanks for posting your stuff. I'm a fan. Have spent HOURS on your page.
I really would love to hear from someone using O365 and creating Hyperdocs on
A6: I'm sure it happened here.
A6 A teacher aha moment was when she realized she didn't have to write all the web addresses on the white board
What about Padlet? Think that could potentially work well...
A5: They allow the delivery of more creative/thought provoking content/inquires that produce a higher level of responses from Ss.
A6: During my first hyperdoc session with at some and the twitter conversation prior was a bright spot
THANKS You're an Awesome group & I enjoyed learning about from you all. Pumpkin time so I'm out https://t.co/9TgtY7d3KF
Q6-Ts don't have to send students to google, HD has research, articles, videos, etc..to engage students all in one safe place!
And we all make what it is.
A6: When I can’t physically be there 2 work w/ a class, the HyperDoc CAN be there .. I can multiply myself as a TOSA.
This made me literally lol!
It looks like they do! I'll check it out. Thanks so much!
A6: Ts realized the power of collaboration in planning - everyone works together and shares the resource! https://t.co/Mxt8znuEIG
A6: My AHA moment comes when a teacher has their AHA moment … usually when they see their Ss excited to do an assignment!
Yes padlet and thinglink too =)
So great taking part in tonight..you are all amazing and its great to see how you are all helping to make school better
A6: The sharing power is amazing - I watch Ts share their hyperdocs w/grade level teams & across district.
So excellent to have you Holly!
hook. line. sinker! FOR THE WIN!!!
When you know you're doing something to make us better together
https://t.co/1l4mQoerAT
This made me literally lol!
Make it real for Ts to see power of HD to be used w Ss. Ease, power, and flexibility. https://t.co/r5u4LX7WEW
I notice when I use HyperDocs with teacher PD - they want to use it with their students
I checked out early...got distracted by everyones amazing resources! Lots to play with tonight!
Tons of Aha's! Working with these girls all the time to reflect on how transform classrooms! https://t.co/cJBZ77bmIz
And it all started with YOU ladies! Thank you so much for creating !
I like that idea. We should have a shared folder of the world's hyperdocs!
great chat tonight . I’ll be reviewing for a week! now if only those Kings would Win!
I think I'm in the midst of that "aha" - can you extend the assignment? @
Same boat as you. Head is spinning with potential for OneNote Classroom. Esp now that it has push.
Remember to join tomorrow at the same time for more learning w TOSAs & coaches.
A6: Aha Moment (well, one of them) Ss thrive off of the immediacy... access, connecting, feedback. They drive.
lol!!! Digger deeper at the end!!
I'm going to figure it out. : )
Now that is awesome! Way to go Ladies
Wow you are AMAZING! I totally love your work!
Loving all the ideas! Our 5th grade uses hyper docs extensively! Love it! Sorry to crash your chat 😃
A6: Watching walk out of a sesh so Ts would figure it out. It was awesome to see peeps freak out!
A6 That moment when everyone is so engaged you can work one on one with a Ss. "Aha" https://t.co/2xRbXvTmEb
A6: Ts realized the power of collaboration in planning - everyone works together and shares the resource! https://t.co/Mxt8znuEIG
Sounds like we need a follow up session on .
I would have loved to see that!
thanks for rocking the gifs kept smiles on my face
A6: For me learning about it at from - my aha was just how non-linear Ss learning can be.
A6 Seeing a HD being used across all grades and all subjects. Hyperdocs don't discriminate.
A6 Got co-teaching request from 1st gr T who saw we did in another 1st grade class...
thanks so much for joining us! it was an honor to have you here.
A6 I have come to realization that HDOCS are great stand alone resource for Ts & Ss or can easily be a side-kick
She literally does this! It cracks me up...then Ts (and me be like) well I guess I'll figure it out
THX for HD chat tonight super excited to redefine how Ts and Ss interact with technology. Night ya'll
Thanks HyperDocs Girls for all the work and great instructional design
Have you figured out push yet? My next goal.
See what I did there?
;)
Love this group!
A6: seen many “Aha” moments w Ts who now understand how Google Docs work because of exploring via
Thank you for your awesome inspiration!
okay so excuse me while I go make a !
loved this chat!
bookmarked! Thanks for all the tonight. is the epitome of (drinks)
