A1: I follow a few blogs. Some are educational, others are not. I find that this balance helps me to grow!
A1: moreso peeps than blogs Looking for tech and special ed inspiration
A1: no time for blogs, sadly. Especially since google reader is gone. Follow Ts on IG and here. Innovative, current, active.
Interesting to see you share that. You don't use feedly?
A1: don't really follow any specific blogs but I try to use twitter and social media to find interesting articles
Awe...interesting. So you find better options to grab learning and resources from Twitter?
Tell me more? Why is it that you don't find blogs to be supportive? Im so intersted in that... https://t.co/OS19w39HrG
A1: don't really follow any specific blogs but I try to use twitter and social media to find interesting articles
since Google reader was discontinued, I never looked to replace it. Haven't heard of freedly! Thanks for sharing
Oh cool! Yes...feedly is awesome. I find that following less blogs with better content is key for me. :)
I have found bloggers that are very helpful but I just don't have enough time to follow specific blogs https://t.co/UcWV38NC6p

So we are chatting about student blogging...so Q2: What are the goals in having students blog? What are the results we wish to see?
Q2: What are the goals in having students blog? What are the results we wish to see?
A1: In my work as a principal, seeing students blog, even at younger grades, was watching a whole world open up for them.
The social media safety curric I used spoke of webpages, blogs. totally outdated. They live on smart phones, chats, picture media.
A2: I love the idea of ss writing for a given audience and sharing their work w/the world-their contributions matter!
A2: I currently don't have a classroom of my own, but I can imagine having students blog is a great way to get them writing
A2: Writing, sharing other's writing was a way to open the classroom doors to the world. Now there writing is public & powerful.
A2: we do use Kidblog. It's a vehicle for social media responsibility & makes writing attractive.
A2: Blogging gives Ss an opportunity to write with purpose to an audience as well as to use tech.
Yes! This is an amazing way to foster poweful writing and social interaction! https://t.co/rCueElNhXr

A1: S blogging = meaningful tech use, more frequent peer/T feedback, 21st century skills, & real word application!
Hello Jumping in for a bit. Love blogging w/students. Haven't done it for a while, but had lots of success in the past!
I love having classes blog about different topics or issues to teach each other. They're teaching about the books they read.
Awesome explanation. I love the way you presented that. Good stuff! https://t.co/Z26GDgZXSf
A1: S blogging = meaningful tech use, more frequent peer/T feedback, 21st century skills, & real word application!
A2: a blog is usually personal/interesting to the blogger, so I think kids enjoy writing when they have a say in what they write
We've also responded to polls and debates using KidBlog.
Howdy, friend! This is so good to hear. I think it's a powerful tool for students. https://t.co/R4tCcQDdZ1

We use Google Sites because we have Chromebooks & thrive on . This way students customize everything & can have personal stuff
What accommodations/suggestions are made for ?
I would have that student blog in their native tongue, to ensure a mastery level before trying to master english
A4 We started learning about commenting by doing paper blogs. Students wrote post (on paper) then other commented on post-its
A4 before we post comments, we verbally share responses and write them down prior to typing and posting the comment. 1/2
Amen! Was just going to say that I would start with paper bloggin to build skills. https://t.co/WxHH0Pid5I
A4 We started learning about commenting by doing paper blogs. Students wrote post (on paper) then other commented on post-its
A4 this teaches the response I am looking for rather than focusing on the format and the medium 2/2
A4: Look at examples of comments and talk about what makes a good, respectful comment. Practice commenting on paper first
Good work! This is so critical for our students. Let them hear what they are saying, before they write it. https://t.co/UdHzDDhn4L

Here is an old post from 2011 when we unveiled 50 laptop computers for 4 classes of students to share! https://t.co/TNsqPOi9kp

Yes! Let them see and discuss. What does it take to nurture respect and honesty?
I'm trying to locate an old presentation I did on student blogging. When I find it I'll post to the hashtag. :)
Dan! That is an awesome image and resource. Thanks so much for sharing it.
Nice idea. What about students that arrive in USA without reading or writing skills in their first language (L1).
I talk to my students about not criticizing other students. They can agree, disagree, or ask questions about ideas
Exemplars are so important! I model commenting over and over and over.
Awesome! I would love to read it and add it to our resources. https://t.co/t9lYlarOLa

Good question! What would you suggest, Louise?
Good structure to support them to learn to be critical thinkers, not critical people. :) https://t.co/hsu9cmQlj4

my pleasure, I believe in blogging.
One last question befor we wrap up!
Q5: What are some of the challenges and concerns with student blogging? How can we alleviate them? https://t.co/0QqpVci0tg
Brilliant isn't it? She does amazing work with her students!
1.Make sure student grouped with students. Encourage drawing their input/writing to examine comprehensibility.
