Celebrating my 1000th tweet with a confession: many of my advice posts are inspired by mistakes I catch myself making or times I fall short as a leader and mentor. I’m basically just subtweeting myself.

1. Calm down. Acknowledge your anger, but recognize that emotions don't solve conflict
2. Assume the other person is reasonable, rational, and decent
3. Ask yourself: what do I really want?
4. Engage the logical side of your brain in negotiating a solution
