#games4ed Archive
#games4ed discussions cover ways in which gaming can be used in education. Games mirror the way the human mind was designed to learn. They motivate players to take risks and actions, persevere through failures, set and achieve increasingly difficult goals, and devote attention, time, and effort to acquiring knowledge and skills. All this while the game is tracking the player’s actions and assessing the player’s achievements and skills. Isn’t this what we want from education?

It's good to look back and take notice of the achievements earned throughout the year.
A1: Especially in year-long games, Ss need a wrapup. Like a story needs an ending, what's the end of the game?

Thank you so much! 22 years that's amazing!

this year went by fast! I cant believe its almost over! I loved my class and cant wait for the new batch of kiddies!

I've done a bit of that...want to do more next year!

Sneaking in for a few before heading to dinner! Hi, everyone!
I am creating a QR quest to end the year
Maybe I'll have presenters hand out prizes to best listener, best question
Is it all within classroom or sending them out of the room and around the school?
A2: I think having an awards ceremony
A3: I love making student quotes into graphics and then adding them to screen saver (part 1)

A4 Invite them to see showcases, keep communic open, use email, website, create video, ask Ss for ideas.

Do other Ts in the school share with staff? Or are you trying to start a movement? (I'd love to see more in my school)
Like a science fair type atmosphere?
A5: I create a Google form for them to answer and reflect on year. It is always so helpful. I value Ss feedback so much!
Do you have XP or a prize drawing of some kind to tempt them perhaps?
For me, it may not always be what you want to hear but it’s always good stuff!
For those who ask Ss to complete evals...any issues with Ss not taking it seriously?
A5 since I'm a newbie I'm always asking for feedback. usually a convo but for the end of the yr, thinking of a evaluation form
I was just wondering...would like to develop more of that in my school, too :) Always looking for new ideas
A5 use tools like Google Forms, or use or for polls
I LOVE . Use it with my Ss all the time.
A5: My senior business class made a games/Classcraft survey for all students. Gave me a clear view of Ss perceptions
Cool. I think most of mine would be serious, but I dread the couple who maybe wouldn't...
wow! Way to turn the control of the tool over to students. Of course!
Thats why the last question is what is your name;) for credit
I can't believe how my mood has uplifted in this chat tonight- I have fun ahead for last days of school
A6 Look back over the year, share summer plans, relatshps important, have some fun, celebrate work done
I tell them I value their feedback & how it helps me in planning next year. If I'm serious and sincere...they are. :-)
A6: A final showoff. Sudden death type situation. One last game that determines the winner(s)..
A6: Last day: Tuesday. Ss rushed to level up/ build their cities before the end of the day and/or get password for Jurassic World
Exactly what I have learned as well. They genuinely want to help when you sincerely ask them. https://t.co/DsCndjQFz8
