Hey ... is joining up with tonight.

-
I am curious as to how you build capacity in your AP's? Formal program, informal at school, both, other?

-
PA has a mandated induction program, but many do not begin until 1-2 years already in the position.

-

-
I believe the best capacity builder in any leader is finding something they are passionate about and letting them lead.

-
What aspect of the PL do your AP's find valuable? Our AP's find the networking to be invaluable.

-
AP's say that meeting with peers and talking about their experiences is very beneficial.

-
I have the only AP within our school district, so networking is crucial to supporting growth

-
Yes. There are things that sometimes they just can't say to their principal. They need their "buddies" to talk to.

-

-

-
Building the local talent pool is so imp. We were struggling a few years ago with local talent. Much better now.

-
While the jobs are similar, there is also a HUGE difference between AP and Principal roles. PL should reflect that.

-

-

-
We also do shadow days where AP's visit other schools.

-
In your building, how far do you let your AP(s) climb out on the limb before you provide a safety net?

-
Let them go as far as they can where mistakes do not damage their ability to lead. Mistakes are lessons learned.

-
Aaryn, the House idea is very interesting.

-
Jared, great point. So important to know where the line of support needs to be.

-
Kevin, did the trust come sooner or later?

-
Aaryn, your thoughts on our resp. to build future principals?

-

-
Kevin, I bet that was a little unsettling-the time?

-

-
Aaryn, how often do you check the temp. of the journey#gasspchat ?

Aaryn, how often do you check the temp. of the journey? ?

-
Has anyone been a Prin. at different levels? (HS, MS, ES?) ?

-
Aaryn, great analogy. Mind if I use that one? ?

-
Simon Sinek is one of my favorites. Have you seen "Leaders eat last"? ?

-
Debbie, do you mind telling us where you are at? ?

-

-
Our system has an aspiring AP and aspiring Prin program. Very effective. Takes a big commitment from us. ?

-
What is your greatest hurdle in building capacity in your AP(s)? Kevin? Jared? ?

-
Do you have a list of mentorship items for aspiring leadership programs in addition to perpetual calendars

-
Tameka, Our programs are a year long. Meet once a month with current leadership leading topics and activities. ?

-
Aaryn, I would guess the "pigeon holing" is universal. ?

-
Kevin, that is one of the first lessons we need to learn as admin. Even P's. ?

-
We are nearing our hour of chat. If I were your AP, what is the most imp. thing I need to do to be a principal one day? ?

-
Great advice, coaching Aaryn. ?

-
Excellent advice Kevin. Need to show this to AP's. ?

-
Know that relationships are the cornerstone.

-
Jared. powerful. Thank you. ?

-
Great discussion. Have a great evening. Thank you for your expertise. ?
