First question is coming up in one minute!
A1: I'm a fan of twitter and sm. That's for the unaccustomed (not dirty), I make sure we are out there every day
A1: We tell our story through our hashtag, Facebook, Instagram and starting to use Snapchat.
Social media is a great start to telling your story
Blogs, websites, anything creative that your students can do to tell their own story
A:1 share photos of learning that is happening for Ss and adults!
A1: Showcase all the positive contributions Ss and staff make to making school a better place. Reward and publicly praise the good
A1: We also are sure to keep the newsletters going in the middle grades via
A1: I make weekly newletters using https://t.co/DRonxOOnQX and share using videos and pictures. I want everyone to see great stuff
A1: I make weekly newletters using https://t.co/7QeXxcMDwj and share using videos and pictures. I want everyone to see great stuff
Agreed! Anything to get the word out and honor student choice!

LOVE to see pictures of what is happening in classrooms! Breaks down the walls and lets the world peek in to the awesome!
A1: we tell our story through our blogs (T as well as Ss), my Twitter acct as well as our school's
You want to be able to get your story out to more than just Ps; community, other schools, etc.
Exactly! Celebrating is so huge to building that collaborative culture necessary for a true PLC!
Being a student teacher, I'm not positive about all the social media the school does. I think we post pictures on FB, Insta, Twitter
Sharing a brain again my friend!
Exactly! Shares learning with community and showcases Ss!
I also like using 2 b transparent. We put all of our flipped staff meetings, volunteer training, etc. https://t.co/Tc8qMdKxXe
love the digital story via images!
Loved how you showcased your trip to DC through social media!
A1: If you aren't telling your story, the question would be, "Who is?"
Can also post class projects via You Tube.
Blogging is a medium that is starting to take off in our school too. Love how it gives a voice to all!
yes me too! Forgot that one!
JN LOVE the idea of putting staff PD on
A2: school hashtag helps community search & find tweets (updates) on activities
A2: Anyone can find or search for "your story" through the hashtag. I have been using them in my blog posts too.
A2: hashtags for districts, schools, & classes are great to help Ss & our community see learning. Transparency is incredibly powerful
The school hashtags promote networking and publicity for the public to create a sense of community!
A2: My Ts w/Twitter accounts also use our hashtag. Helps document/share the work of our school. Everyone contributes to the story.
Q2: A common thread and 21st century way for community and school to come together to show school's success
are easily searchable and call out specific topics or places. School hashtag can then vary for different areas
A1: Using FB, Twitter and Instagram has been a plus. Additionally, we have done a weekly newsletter. A spot in the local paper.
A2: Benefits would be that you would be able to share your school's story globally as long as you promote the hashtag
Right...the world may be a bit off-kilter now! HA!
Our teachers have commented that it makes us feel so much more connected! https://t.co/Mo5CYuOJD0
The school hashtags promote networking and publicity for the public to create a sense of community!
Parents can even see what we are focusing on!
A2: Building staff community by opening a window into each other's practice. We also posta hashtag feed on our school webpage
It cultivates school pride ... and pride is a great motivator. Awesomeness breeds awesomeness. https://t.co/KolIgWkV91
A2: We also hold staff chats via our hashtag. Great reflection and all voices can be "heard."
Interesting concept-would get all teachers involved in the conversation
A2: We have projected in our lobby with all of the tweets to our hashtag being projected.
A2: it also helps us weave digital citizenship into our teaching & the type of voice we use when online
A3: Biggest advice is to just start by lurking. That's how I started. Eventually got comfy to join Twitter chats
A2: We are hoping to get our campus connected on Twitter with a hashtag!
Our school # is and our district is ....These allow an easy way for stakeholders to follow your tweets!
A3: I try and show them the benefit and power of being connected via Twitter. So much of the world at your fingertips!
A2: Using a school # boosted morale, as well as making it easier for people to follow us. T's r using in their emails.
Me too! I also had a that helped get me through my first chat, right ? https://t.co/CtvMzDDTmj
A3: Biggest advice is to just start by lurking. That's how I started. Eventually got comfy to join Twitter chats
A2 Easy to follow on Tweetdeck,Ss love being advertised on their school's Tweetbeam, share what's behind the walls, community sharing
PLEASE!!! I am having such a hard time with this! I am new to twitter and don't really know how to use it! haha :)
Yes, how can we help with Twitter? She should know the importance twitter can have! :)
- The concept of digital citizenship really authenticates.
I love the "proud" part of those hashtags! https://t.co/rzlB1teNsX
Our school # is and our district is ....These allow an easy way for stakeholders to follow your tweets!
A3: Last week we had a "Friday Challenge:" every teacher try to tweet once with the school hashtag. It was a good thing.
Social Media as a TOOL, not the enemy.
Share images of learning & tell your story
A3: I'm putting together a twitter challenge, showcase tweets at faculty learning, get S's involved to share everyone's story!
Thanks kids- you're getting me through mine
Welcome, friend! Glad you could join us!
I think it's harder with older teachers that are reluctant to use Twitter / technology in general
Yes, Tweetdeck a great tool to help manage chats and Twitter in general!
I send out a weekly Twitter challenge to staff. "Follow three educators," "Search a hashtag," "Retweet one of your colleagues"
A3: Ts need to model risk taking which might lead to great results. Great growth always occurs outside the comfort zone
Absolutely. Some ts don't know what twitter adds to their class. To them it is one more thing.
Good idea! We can try this, . https://t.co/UWAMYoakT4
A3: Last week we had a "Friday Challenge:" every teacher try to tweet once with the school hashtag. It was a good thing.

A3 I teach this workshop & share the Tackk via website, too. It walks them through the steps & why Edus tweet. https://t.co/8dKm2i4Cda
discussions and sharing can occur at any time, any place!!
A4: all are contributing to story, everyone has a voice, supports growth
A4: any time there is a level platform to share voice and empower teacher autonomy I think a collaborative culture is created
A4: Hashtags usually have a common thread, as school, subject, interest. Sharing ideas makes ideas bigger and better
Q3) When I started on , I would also gain interest (or sometimes eyerolls) by saying, "Last night on twitter, I learned..."
A4: You can bring together groups from around the world, not just local and build collaboration across classrooms/schools/teachers
A4: 2 yrs ago we started . Now it's being used in Ss social media. We can create our story with storify. Powerful
Funny I still get that and from other admins too https://t.co/qJXmdCoJQr
Q3) When I started on , I would also gain interest (or sometimes eyerolls) by saying, "Last night on twitter, I learned..."
A3: Start small, try a little, wait a little, try a little more, wait a little more. LOL...Or just jump in and muck around.
I learned to stop saying my source was Twitter
That is amazing, Tammy! ! https://t.co/oTDvvfYRZW
A4: 2 yrs ago we started . Now it's being used in Ss social media. We can create our story with storify. Powerful
I see other great happenings with Ts and Ss and I think about trying new things. Some spark other ideas completely unrelated.
Not a big deal if you don't know what you're doing. You can always ask someone on Twitter for help https://t.co/dKWL1eOGUi
A3: Start small, try a little, wait a little, try a little more, wait a little more. LOL...Or just jump in and muck around.
A4: Anytime a platform is created where all stakeholders can have a voice, you've enhanced your collaborative culture
Yes! I just dove in head first!
It's being printed on T-shirts and used on parade floats. Entire community is
Exactly! I couldn't agree more...great network of educators looking to support others!
A4: Anytime a platform is created where all stakeholders can have a voice, you've enhanced your collaborative culture
A4: Hashtag is all about collaboration. You are calling out to others to join you in learing and sharing
I was a lurker until tonight. The info from lurking was invaluable, but I felt it was time I started contributing.
A Connected Culture:
Rely on teacher leaders| Principal nurtures and supports
- care
- communication
-collaboration
- celebration
A4 It knocks the walls down so all can see instructional awesomeness in the other classes & encourages others to take risks, too.
That's how I felt but I needed to be active to learn from others and hope that others might learn from me
Lurking is learning in the shadows.
Thanks for sharing, ! Only had a few minutes to drop in!!
Agreed! Everyone championing around the same mission! https://t.co/VNVqgp3ftg
A4: Hashtag is all about collaboration. You are calling out to others to join you in learing and sharing
A4: If you are putting out positive stories, everyone gets to help tell the story of your great work. A united voice!
"This is the 21st century, teachers! we don't use leeches and typewriters anymore!" ~
Way to kick it up a notch and pushing yourself!
Does anyone struggle with this in a community of poverty. FB seems to be the place of comfort
You may not out there in Ohio, but in NJ, we go old school buddy https://t.co/PZ0MeC0aTS
"This is the 21st century, teachers! we don't use leeches and typewriters anymore!" ~
A5: One of the easiest would be to create Twitter PD and use the school hashtag as a motivator
Sometimes, its about knowing your culture, or knowing your culture and taking baby steps.
A5: we have a district hashtag to broaden PLNs & inspire collaborative inquiry. It's been incredibly powerful for Ts & Ps
Our families/community are mainly on FB and Insta...we post there as well. https://t.co/UeL1an5m32
Does anyone struggle with this in a community of poverty. FB seems to be the place of comfort
A5: It's a great way to back channel around a topic, share ideas, discover relevance. The # can be a formatiove assessment of learning
A5: We have for Ts during some of our PD time. Our hashtag is a powerful way to share the learning.
A5: I share resources I find on twitter all the time. I tell people about them, or to look in my likes/favorites! Great to share!
A5 Sharing Google slides, tackks, resources to the district #, Twitter treasure-hunt, Video reflections. PD everyday. ❤️ using
I think different communities like diff tools. You can document and share on twitter, then storify & share through FB
A5: easy way to connect with all staff of the district instead of always communicating with your grade level
love Beth. You should really look at my book for more inquiry scaffolding
A5: PD is enhanced w/ collaboration, support, active learning & feedback
I also keep forgetting about the power of Youtube. Everyone seems to love that site!
Love the idea of having a PD hashtag you can share PD resources through! https://t.co/0JcHdCz7tG

A7 Seeing Ts discussing ways to improve their classrooms reassures me that we're in good hands
