Q1: Personalized Learning can be considered as “good teaching amplified,” where students are learning at their pace and according to their learning style and even interests. What are some questions you have about Personalized Learning? #NoVAedChat
A1 I think that I'd like to know more about how exactly this concept can be implemented in a class where students have such mixed abilities. I like the idea in theory but I'm unsure of it's practicality #novaedchat
A1: I’m curious how you have motivated those students that aren’t intrinsically motivated to take ownership of their learning - those that prefer the “sit and get.” #NovaEdChat
Q1: Personalized Learning can be considered as “good teaching amplified,” where students are learning at their pace and according to their learning style and even interests. What are some questions you have about Personalized Learning? #NoVAedChat
A1 there are more unknowns than knowns in regards to #personalizedlearning at this point. I’m especially curious about the intersect between PL and standards-based, assessment-driven curriculum. How do you effectively balance the two? #NoVAedchat
A1: One of my questions is always about time management. How to schedule time to plan b/c I feel PL is very much "front loaded" & how to manage the time in class so Ss have adequate work time, but Ts also get to meet with everyone. #novaedchat
One thing we've found to be really helpful w/ working with districts is to support them in understanding the core elements of PL and identify where they are on with the Core 4 elements. https://t.co/deLQJFWR9C#NoVAedChat
A1: Qustions I have are: There are many resources and ways to implement. Personaized Learning is, in my opinion, how we should be teaching. Any suggestions for getting the reluctant Ts on board? #NoVAedChat
@nprietti school they have done a masterful job of hosting internal learning walks on the regular. To get people to understand what they are already doing.

A1: How can you make personalized learning work when there are many different ability levels and motivation levels within the same class period? #NoVAedChat
I think starting small is best. If too many centers/groups feels like too much, start with Ss working through a playlist while pulling one small group or individual Ss. Digital content is also great bc you can get feedback while Ss practice. #NoVAedchat
Agreed, it should be the norm not the exception. I have found working on mindset with reluctant educators has been helpful and starting with small steps. #NoVAedchat

Yes! Even learning walks w/our own Ts inside our school has been so helpful. Sometimes we don't know what others are doing until we see it in action. #NoVAedChat

@kelly_freiheit, @jcjITRT51, @TrailsideMiddle
Honestly, I just try to teach them something they want to know, even when it's not in the curriculum. Also frequent rewards for being risk takers. #NovaEdChat
Yes, we are just starting those at our school. We are using a pineapple to invite people in to see something you are doing or you canpost something on our Pinapple board that you would like help with. #NovaEdChat I guess I' looking for ideas to get Ts more interested.

@kelly_freiheit, @nprietti, @TrailsideMiddle
We started to offer Edcamp style PD on PL topics for our Ts called Chooseday! It’s been a good format to facilitate buy in and troubleshoot our implementation #NoVAedchat

A1: How can I ensure I’m giving all of my students equal time/attention, when I easily get wrapped up working 1:1 with my students who are struggling? #NoVAedchat
One thing I always encourage Ts to do is save time in the class period where you don't purposefully pull a small group and use that time to check-in 1:1 with students based on needs. #NovaEdChat
That’s really what PL allows you to address. The PL models from @EdElements provide a structure for Ss to take different paths in their learning. #NovaEdChat
A1: I guess my big question would be - what are some of the activities you've used in your classrooms to help students identify their learning style and interests? #NoVAedchat
Q1: Personalized Learning can be considered as “good teaching amplified,” where students are learning at their pace and according to their learning style and even interests. What are some questions you have about Personalized Learning? #NoVAedChat
Q2: Whether you’ve embraced PL, are an early-adapter, or have yet to embark on PL, what changes did you (or would you) have to make to the learning environment to support this? #NoVAedChat@nprietti@kelly_freiheit
This is a great question @MrsMasarik! I think structure can help till it becomes regular habit. Setting timers as a reminder, being purposeful about how students are grouped, etc. This is another opportunity to invite colleagues in to observe and offer suggestions #NoVAedchat
A1: How can I ensure I’m giving all of my students equal time/attention, when I easily get wrapped up working 1:1 with my students who are struggling? #NoVAedchat
A2 I have a feeling that desks in rows are not going to cut it. Flexible seating, areas for students to work independently and in groups, a room designed for a lot of different activity! #NoVAedchat
A2: I think one of the biggest changes is in the classroom culture. The students need to feel like everyone in the room is a part of the learning community and has something to contribute to the process. #novaedchat
A2: Purposeful flex seating! Consider your teaching style & the ways your Ss will collaborate. i.e. - Will Ss be podcasting? Maybe they need pop-up tents. Are devices in the way/distracting when they aren’t needed? Maybe you need a device “parking lot” or “daycare.”
#NovaEdChat
A2: 1 thing our organ has been talking about is how does the environment solicit collaborative conversations. Be mindful of how desks and tables are laid out along w/ what technology/resources are in front of kids. #NoVAedChat
A2. Here are 26 ways to incorporate the PL philosophy into your classroom practice - Personalized Learning from A-Z. https://t.co/q8bM3EjOjx#NoVAedchat
A2 As my team has started embedding more online components into our PD, we have had to be more flexible, knowing that each learner's journey will look different, and that's ok. #NoVAedchat
A2: Control! Allowing my students to work on different things at the same time has been the most difficult thing to manage. Partly due to my need for control over scheduling & partly due to my Ss lack of maturity & motivation at times. #novaedchat
A1: I would like to see how I can use PL to teach students who know very little English so that my kid is included and has a voice within the classroom. I want to make sure they get the best education even if there is a language barrier #NoVAedchat
A2: I would love to have flexible seating in my room to allow for more personalized learning. It would allow the Ss to move around and not feel confined to their desks. #NoVAedChat
A2 I got rid of my center schedule that used to be posted on the board. Switching first to a must do, may do list and then a playlist completely changed my and my student's expectations for the day. #NovaEdChat
Q2: Whether you’ve embraced PL, are an early-adapter, or have yet to embark on PL, what changes did you (or would you) have to make to the learning environment to support this? #NoVAedChat@nprietti@kelly_freiheit
A2: I have the flex seating. I’ve trained them on multiple technologies to produce with. I have the (time) block schedule. Being full inclusion it’s a balance between direct instruction & inquiry. #NoVAedchat
A2: Control! Allowing my students to work on different things at the same time has been the most difficult thing to manage. Partly due to my need for control over scheduling & partly due to my Ss lack of maturity & motivation at times. #novaedchat
Playlist with “must dos/may dos” is easy place to start and then you can progress to making them more different paths then checklists. Still working on this😜 #NovaEdChat
A2: Well I am fully on board and as an ITRT just trying to get more Ts on board. When starting out it is all about the plan. Why do you want to use PL? What do you hope you and the Ss get out of it? Answering to these 2 Qu's allow you to move in a clear direction. #NoVAedChat
When do you build in time for reflection? It seems like that's the first thing to go when time is running short. Do you model reflection for your Ss, too? I also find that it's not something they innately know how to do. #NoVAedchat
This one is critical - especially for our students who have learned to fly under the radar or who haven't felt their voice was valued. Building that community first takes time and effort @FCPS_Signorelli#NoVAedchat
A2: I think one of the biggest changes is in the classroom culture. The students need to feel like everyone in the room is a part of the learning community and has something to contribute to the process. #novaedchat
A1 How does everyone find all of their resources? I've been working on it all year and I feel like I just can't find enough resources to provide all of the choice I want! #NoVAedchat
100% agree. When the students are reminding and encouraging each other to make sure the room looks nice and the expectations are met it takes a huge load off the teacher. #NovaEdChat
A2 I had to change my own mindset and reliance on arbitrary deadlines. If I value learning more than work, then why not help them actually learn?? Flexible seating has helped too! Comfort is key #NoVAedchat
A2: Definitely flexible seating arrangements, as well as continuing to foster classroom community. I think you have to be ready to let go of control of the physical space to allow for collaboration, w/procedures in place to support Ss as they learn #NoVAedchat
Q2: Whether you’ve embraced PL, are an early-adapter, or have yet to embark on PL, what changes did you (or would you) have to make to the learning environment to support this? #NoVAedChat@nprietti@kelly_freiheit
Yes, this is what I'm seeing as a hurdle. Those Ts that had a plan and did allow Ss to have control have been successful. Those that haven't or gave control too fast without plan struggle. #NoVAedChat
Purposeful is a key word. And learners need practice making decisions about which seating option meets their learning needs at different times. #NoVAedChat#ALPlearn

A1 How does everyone find all of their resources? I've been working on it all year and I feel like I just can't find enough resources to provide all of the choice I want! #NoVAedchat
It helps so much to experience it yourself to see the value. I am seeing the shift in PD toward this model and the pressure is on to make it meaningful for us adults who might not have ever experienced learning this way. #NoVAedchat
A3: missing classes due to snow days or delays. 😳 utilizing online learning resources could be a huge benefit to student learning and engagement and teaching #NoVAedChat
A3: when I was in the classroom I always felt bad when I knew some students already knew material. I didn’t know how to properly address these students. #loudounpl has really opened my eyes up to teaching to students needs. Not “differentiating” #NoVAedchat
Another way to consider space set up is to think through the activities we are trying to encourage and how we might design spaces for each of those in our classroom. I like this article about campfires, caves and watering holes #NoVAedchathttps://t.co/G4l4wjGcFi
A3 The biggest one was time for me. Before PL I always struggled to see my very high and very low students as often as they needed and on what they actually needed. Now I see them all the time and the content is actually what they're ready for. #NovaEdChat
Great resource suggestions! I get so many good ideas from my PLN (esp from Twitter!). Bookmarking them, saving them to a Google folder/Doc. #NoVAedchat
In reply to

A3: Ss having different learning styles, motivations or interests. Also when there are snow days, having materials availableonline so the learning can continue. #NoVAedchat
Working with our CLT is only way we are making it work! We are also finding 2 or 3 choices is much better than when we offer 9 (which we did try) #NoVAedChat
A3 My first few years were roughhhh - I felt like I didn't have much choice in the way I learned about and practiced my craft which made it hard for me to buy in. If I had options rather than mandates, it might have been a *little* easier #NoVAedchat
A3. As a district leader rolling out PL, I had a lot of push back on how other initiatives were apart of PL. I think of PL as the tree and the other initiatives such as MTSS, PBL, SEL are all branches. #NoVAedChat
My Monday room redo. I’m in the middle now. For me increased proximity = increased attention. Flex seating meets scaffolded lecture (for math). I keep trying to figure it out. #NoVAedchat
A3: Time! Never felt like I had enough time to meet all my Ss where they were at (prob bc I spent too much time w/whole group). When Ss are working through stations or on a playlist, for ex, T can pop in/out with Ss to better address exactly what they need. #NovaEdChat
A3 Students checking out because the are not challenged and are bored, students struggling, and some right in between. Seems like PL can address all that. #NoVaedchat
A3: Biggest hurdle has been the wide range of ability level in my class, combined with lack of motivation. PL works wonders with both b/c it's student centered. Offering Ss a choice in what or how they learn (w/in parameters) is a game changer! #novaedchat
A3: The amount of time it takes to create resources initially, especially if you are doing it alone (ex. flipping lessons for students). Another challenge is the anticipation of what you need (big picture). Always a work in progress. #NoVAedchat
A3. As a district leader rolling out PL, I had a lot of push back on how other initiatives were apart of PL. I think of PL as the tree and the other initiatives such as MTSS, PBL, SEL are all branches. PL is not another thing! #NoVAedChat
My Monday room redo. I’m in the middle now. For me increased proximity = increased attention. Flex seating meets scaffolded lecture (for math). I keep trying to figure it out. #NoVAedchat
I've seen some really thoughtful playlists; created by teachers and learners. I'm always on the look out for unique examples if anyone has one to share. #NoVAedChat#ALPlearn
This is key - how do we provide structure and opportunities for personalization. This is my reflection on the first year of this at Chantilly HS. We built a community of learners. https://t.co/WgpD2flKIe#NoVAedchat
Yeahhh patience is definitely an opportunity for growth on my end. I'm slowly winning people over and shamelessly stealing from them, but I do need to keep that in mind! #novaedchat
This was it for me in the classroom, too! Sometimes Ss struggle to articulate (or are still figuring out) how they learn best. Are there any especially good questions you pose to them, strategies, or interest inventories that you’ve used to help them get started? #NoVaedChat
#NoVAedChat We were just talking to a district team today about how important it is for teachers to have common planning to work through this together.
A3: The amount of time it takes to create resources initially, especially if you are doing it alone (ex. flipping lessons for students). Another challenge is the anticipation of what you need (big picture). Always a work in progress. #NoVAedchat
A3: Some challenges that some of the Ts I am working with and I have had overcome the last few years are high # of ESOL and SPED Ss, over eagerness to dive in without having a clear plan to name a few. #NoVAedChat
A3a: PL helped address this because it allowed those struggling Ss to continue to work on content they didn't get the first time while the teacher moved on to new content. Also we have found hearing it multiple times in different modes has helped our ELL's. #Novaedchat
I have a couple of people that I have been working with this year and we are making some progress, but our CLT is not exactly on the same page and we are trying to work around that #novaedchat
Which, for most kids, is what they truly need. We sometimes forget about the hierarchy of needs, and that need for connection because there is so much pressure to "cover curriculum".
A3: Teachers feeling like they can’t get to everyone and being the sole resource. Have to give up some control. Allow students to collaborate and aid each other in moving forward in their classroom community. #NoVAedChat
A4 biggest challenge was always meeting so many different needs in same classroom. PL really gives Ss more control and ownership over their learning which is increasing engagement. Also allows for more targeted instruction #NoVAedchat
We saw that same issue arise at our school when we took on PL & another initiative in the same year. It was amazingly easy to marry the 2 when ppl truly understood PL. Sometimes is misconceptions that are the roadblocks, not the actual initiatives.
A3 #2: I think I read that wrong (oops)-the challenges we face are that we have lots of needs to meet, lots of different learning styles, and flipping lessons or creating learning paths for students to have choice and ownership are awesome. Below r challenges w/that. @NoVAEdChat
Q4: Time is the most precious commodity in education & life. Time can also be considered one of the challenges in planning for PL instruction. What strategies or processes can you offer to be more efficient when tailoring instruction to fit the needs of all learners? #NoVAedChat
A3 A challenge I’ve had as a classroom teacher that used to really bother me was feeling like the “quiet kid”/“middle of the road kid” might be falling through the cracks. #PL helps take care of everyone by design (intentional design.) #NoVAedChat
I haven't blogged as much as I wish I did! It's the reflection that makes the difference for me! I've been working on the reflection for what we learned in year 2 of this process. It's even better! I wrote my grad school capstone about this too! #NoVAedchat
A4. Give up whole group teaching and teach small group direct instruction based on students needs through a station rotation model. You gain so much time and you meet all students based on their needs #NoVAedchat
A4 I've taken to giving them pacing calendars so they can check their own timing. I also have a few hard deadlines, but they know about them well in advance and we talk about using those as goals and how to reach them #novaedchat
A4; Make it student-centered.. Ask your Ss what tools they want to use, what questions they still have, & what available resources they have to find these answers. Relinquish the Type A (guilty here!) need to have it all figured out perfectly. #NovaEdChat
A4: As coaches, I think having resources and examples ready to go will help tremendously. Offering to be part of the planning process and team teach when able can also take some of the pressure off. #novaedchat
A3: Not all teachers hold the same belief that ALL students can achieve at high levels. PL makes that possible and provides models for our colleagues a they shift their actions and beliefs. #NovaEdChat
I have to let go of the idea that I have to write a novel when I blog. Sometimes a few sentences is all there's time for, which I have to be ok with so that I keep at it. #NoVaEdChat
A4. Don’t conform learning to a set amount of time. Let time be dictated you what you need to accomplish learning goals. Easier said than done but learning targets and mastery should be the most important constraints when designing instruction #NoVAedChat
Planning meetings should have agendas just like CLTs. When you don’t have agenda with intended outcomes, the complainer in you tends to come out instead of the problem solver! #NoVAedchat
A4 Make sure your team has a clear goal that everyone is working towards. The 3rd grader team @RRD_LCPS started by creating learning progressions for each unit that evolved into our unit plans that included various levels of expectations and activities for students. #NovaEdChat
Q4: Time is the most precious commodity in education & life. Time can also be considered one of the challenges in planning for PL instruction. What strategies or processes can you offer to be more efficient when tailoring instruction to fit the needs of all learners? #NoVAedChat
Q4: I rely heavily on pre-assessment data. That helps me eliminate content that Ss already know & tailor my "face time" with small groups in a way that I meet their specific needs. Some groups needing more time & support than others & that's OKAY! #equityisnotequal#novaedchat
A4 You’re not in it alone, and if you are, you’re doing it wrong! Rely on your comrades in arms, be it Twitter or the teacher across the hall. Find & use the plethora of resources out there! Don’t reinvent the wheel. #NoVAedChat
A4: Starting small, being intentional with learning outcomes, using tools that allow students choice but are set up to help teachers facilitate Ss moving towards their goals. I keep thinking about @CanvasLMS Mastery paths or @nearpod as good examples. #NoVaEdChat
Q4: Time is the most precious commodity in education & life. Time can also be considered one of the challenges in planning for PL instruction. What strategies or processes can you offer to be more efficient when tailoring instruction to fit the needs of all learners? #NoVAedChat
" Relinquish the Type A (guilty here!) need to have it all figured out perfectly" Saying this again to amplify. As school and teacher leaders we need to model this. Reflect publicly and model our own cycle of improvement #NoVAedchat
A4; Make it student-centered.. Ask your Ss what tools they want to use, what questions they still have, & what available resources they have to find these answers. Relinquish the Type A (guilty here!) need to have it all figured out perfectly. #NovaEdChat
Q4: Time is the most precious commodity in education & life. Time can also be considered one of the challenges in planning for PL instruction. What strategies or processes can you offer to be more efficient when tailoring instruction to fit the needs of all learners? #NoVAedChat
A4 - developing predictable routines makes planning easier and makes it easier to teach students. Still possible to add personalized learning to predictable routine #novaedchat
Agreed, there are times and places for whole group especially for academic convos but too often educators assume students don't know ___ standard because they have't taught it but if students have already mastered it. #NoVAedchat
A4: I always tell Ts to think big, but start small. Chose an area you are comfortable with and being using PL there. This allows you to focus in on developing how to implement rather than it becomeing one more thing. #NoVAedChat
A4: Collaboration! Your team tackling PL together not only brings amazing outcomes AND ideas that you alone will never think of... it also allows so much more to get accomplished! #NoVAedChat
I'm wondering how you might connect with other Ts doing the same work at other schools? With google and all our virtual connections, it doesn't have to be someone next door! #NoVAedchat@scholarcation@scholarcation@MrsLanghorne - what do you think? Can we connect?
In reply to
@MsPettyTweets, @AvdellasL, @scholarcation, @scholarcation, @MrsLanghorne
So glad you mentioned this -- I saw this across classrooms today. The teachers were using a similar format for choice menus and the kids were working seamlessly through it. #NovaEdChat
A4 - developing predictable routines makes planning easier and makes it easier to teach students. Still possible to add personalized learning to predictable routine #novaedchat
Q5: Personalized Learning is most successful when the technology is used effectively. What does it mean to “use technology effectively”? #NoVAedChat@nprietti@kelly_freiheit
Q3: It's always a challenge to make learning exciting for students. PL offers students more opportunities to really connect and take ownership of their learning!#NovaEdChat
A4: When we work as teams we typically use a team meeting protocol to get stuff done because we know time is precious. https://t.co/xT5fnQejgi#NoVAedChat
A5. Personalized Learning IS NOT teachers being replaced by screens. Personalized Learning IS thoughtful and intentional incorporation of Technology for teaching, learning, and student creation. https://t.co/GsSdHhUdpJ#NoVAedChat
A5 I think the important thing to remember is not to force anything that doesn't fit. And I've found that you just have to jump in and try something to know how it works and learn from mistakes. #NoVAedchat
A5 not quite an answer to this question (will get to it) but personalized learning should not always be equated with technology. Technology is one of many tools for to facilitate personalized learning but it does not define it #novaedchat
A5:: "To Use Technology Effectively" students and teachers need to do more than just passively consume technology, but rather interact with it and use that knowledge to create. #NovaEdChat
Q5: Personalized Learning is most successful when the technology is used effectively. What does it mean to “use technology effectively”? #NoVAedChat@nprietti@kelly_freiheit
A5 Using technology effectively means its being used to enhance learning, allow for creation, encourage collaboration and communication, and make the impossible possible! We need to rethink “cheating” and so many other old-school concepts. #NoVAedChat
I am hoping to address this more fully when we (IFTs in LCPS) roll out @sonnymagana#T3framework over the next few years. This framework and PD has for me excited about something that will really make a change! #T3challenge#NoVAedchat
A5: That PL does not MEAN use technology. Instead, use it where it is meaningful in data collection/activity/or learning- not a worksheet on the computer or just direct teaching through a screen. #NoVAedChat#PLisSOmuchMORE
A4: One at a time. There's no need to redesign your entire course of study in one year. Start with ONE topic that students struggle with (the content is difficult or the activities aren't engaging) - this one is already broken and can only get better. #NoVAedChat
A4 we use an agenda for each CLT which always includes processing last lesson, gathering resources for upcoming lessons, and we divide all the work up #NoVAedchat
Glad you mentioned this. In our 1st year of PL, this was feedback we often heard from Ss - they missed the F2F time. It was a learning year of finding that balance. #NovaEdChat
A2: Resources for learning...how do we move from delivery of content to providing a bank of resources and tools to allow students to discover the learning. #NoVAedChat
Q2: Whether you’ve embraced PL, are an early-adapter, or have yet to embark on PL, what changes did you (or would you) have to make to the learning environment to support this? #NoVAedChat@nprietti@kelly_freiheit
A5: The million dollar question! I reflect on this daily. I am looking forward to hearing others' perspectives on this - my teacher research project led me to this, as well as @lkolb 's book Learning First, Technology Second. Personalized Learning ≠ Tech. #Novaedchat
Q5: Personalized Learning is most successful when the technology is used effectively. What does it mean to “use technology effectively”? #NoVAedChat@nprietti@kelly_freiheit
A5: i always refer to this chart as I plan lessons and support my Ts. Just because you can [use tech] doesn’t alway mean it’s the best Avenue for completing assignments that can be done paper pencil. Step the lesson up a notch and allow the tech to be a natural part. #NoVAedChat
A5: To use it to enhance the learning experience; sometimes it’s for motivation, to be more efficient, to show/teach something you couldn’t otherwise do. The tech is not always needed & that’s the important part - to know what purpose it’s serving & why. #NovaEdChat
I love chatting about how you don’t NEED tech to do this work with @kelly_freiheit, but leveraging it in meaningful ways can help make it so much more manageable and powerful for kids! #NovaEdChat

YES! There is so much power in asking our learners what they want and need. They are more perceptive than we give them credit for, sometimes. #NovaEdChat
A4; Make it student-centered.. Ask your Ss what tools they want to use, what questions they still have, & what available resources they have to find these answers. Relinquish the Type A (guilty here!) need to have it all figured out perfectly. #NovaEdChat

Q5: Personalized Learning is most successful when the technology is used effectively. What does it mean to “use technology effectively”? #NoVAedChat@nprietti@kelly_freiheit
A5 I think this means that students are using the technology to achieve a specific goal. We used to just put kids on a computer and track they were on it. There has to be a specific purpose for each time it's turned on. #NovaEdChat
Q5: Personalized Learning is most successful when the technology is used effectively. What does it mean to “use technology effectively”? #NoVAedChat@nprietti@kelly_freiheit
A5: To “use technology effectively” means that the task you are having the Ss complete has a clear, meaningful purpose. Putting them onto a playlist or website without a clear purpose and on time feedback can actually hurt the Ss more than helping them. #NoVAedChat
A5: Using technology effectively can and probably will mean something different for every classroom. The biggest piece for me is that the students gained something from using the tool effectively and meet the learning objective. #novaedchat
Technology allows us to meet the needs of our Ss in a meaningful way but not in the only way. Never underestimate the human connection in our PL journey. #NoVAedChat
A5: Tech should be used as tool for students to access or create something they couldn't without the tech. However, I've seen teachers use tech as a babysitter, or toy, calling it PL. This makes me the most nervous when proper PD is not implemented for rollout of PL. #novaedchat
A5: when the technology enhances good instruction and amplifies the human components of learning. Agency, action, feedback, ownership, reflection #NovaEdChat
A4 Effective use of technology should be measured by data, as we measure all other types of instruction (ideally multiple sources of data). Instruction that uses technology is effective when multiple sources of data show that using it has helped the student learn #novaedchat
A5 It's gotta be the right tool for the job. Do it amplify voices? Does it provide choice in time, place, path, or pace? Does it make access to modern resources *more* equitable? It needs to be thoughtfully included or it's no use at all #novaedchat
On time feedback is so important! Many students thrive in the world of instant grades and comments, especially when you can help them correct mistakes or move to the next level immediately. #NovaEdChat
I've connected with some really spectacular people via twitter, but I also love that face-to-face connection and working with people in the same room at some point #novaedchat

A4: Collaborate and Share! There are so many amazing educators engaging students on a daily basis with PL strategies, so just ask! Ask your team, ask Google, just ask! And don't forget to I've back by sharing some of your awesome ideas! Many hands make light work! #NoVAedChat

A5: using tech effectively means no just using technology for the sake of using technology. Making sure it is not the technology that drives the lesson. Sound pedagogy needs to lbe in place. #NoVAedChat
A5 I like how technology gives Ss instant access to so much information so instruction can move beyond memorization and help Ss find a way to create and interact with it and the world around them #NoVAedchat
A6: As adults, we all learn and process information differently. Teaching students these skills and how they can best learn will make them more strategic learners. #NoVAedChat

A6. No pitch line but we had Parents come into the school and see PL in action. Many had misconceptions that students were on computers all day. We also did workshops to simulate what a PL classroom is like. #NoVAedchat
Absolutely! Allowing them to make mistakes and then go back and fix them is HUGE. I like to use analogy of a baby learning to walk. Most babies didn't just start walking. They tried fell and then tried again until they were walking. The same thing goes for learning. #NoVAedChat
A6: “please come join me and provide an extra set of hands and support our students learning”
we have parents volunteer in library and lab and are in awe of what students are doing and now they own their learning (k-3 is a school)#NoVAedChat (seeing is believing)
A6 I think most parents get on board once they realize their child will be getting small group/1:1 instruction in the areas they really need. If the child is behind, ahead, or on track, parents know they will be taught at their level. #NovaEdChat

A6: It may be a bit unconventional, but welcome the parents into the classroom and let them see how much more the kids gain from the experience. If they see it, and have tangible evidence, the conversation starts from the current reality. #novaedchat
Q6: We are excited to truly meet the needs of each child in our class. School might look different than it was for you or I, and we are building a future of collabs, criticalthinkers, communicators, and creativethinkers that have reflection, data and choice built in! #NoVAedChat
A6: It may look and feel different but the goal is still the same, creating a learning environment that allows your child to reach his or her potential. #NoVAedChat
A6 Maybe having them experience what it could look like/feel like? I can talk about innovation, choice, empowerment, voice until the cows come home---but maybe they need to see it/try it to believe it? Looking forward to hearing others' thoughts. #NoVaEdChat

There are a bunch of new faces here tonight - remember to follow each other and build your #PLN. AND so many resources have been shared tonight - you can find them all archived at https://t.co/uEuO4ISvGU#NoVAedchat
A6: Personalized Learning makes learning meaningful and relevant for all Ss. We need to meet our Ss where they are at and provide them the opportunities to best showcase their learning. #NoVAedChat
A6: "Teaching has changed bc our Ss have changed. Our post-HS/post-college jobs and workspaces have changed. PL addresses the needs of ALL our learners to prepare them to be independent thinkers/collaborators who are solution-seekers." #NovaEdChat
A6 Knowledge is power. When you share the impact that the learning style has on students parents usually get on board. Also helps to share early and often so parents are not surprised. Parents are partners #novaedchat
