A1. In my 4th year... Haven't had opportunity to reuse too much! Taught 4th twice, In MS SS second year now. I reuse the bare bones of presentations and such, but like to add and enhance second time through! #ditchbook
A1 Teaching teachers- Don't use #edtech for the sake of using #edtech. Pick the medium that makes the most sense, most effective, most efficient for the needs of that part of the lesson. #ditchbook
A1: Not really lessons but I use certain routines or structures such as #numbertalks which allows Ss to share thinking about problem sets which is different every year based on Ss in class #ditchbook
A1: There are some activities I do year after year, but each group of Ss help me refine them, so they aren't the "same" exactly. Ss also let me know which to "ditch." #DitchBook
A1: I think the lesson(s) that I have done over again the following year or longer was something that students loved just as much as I did and really created a lasting memory for them. The lesson was never the same because it was always revamped for the next year! #ditchbook

To be honest...I have lessons & routines for beginning of school year. After that I️ really don’t keep lessons year after year. Constantly adapting for current Ss. #ditchbook
A1: the ones that Ss love and have a high impact on learning. Play doh for cross sections, spaghetti noodles for triangle inequality theorem, etc #DitchBook
Know your students! They absolutely guide the lesson and instruction. Cookie cutter lessons will never be as effective as ones tailored to your students' needs! #ditchbook
A1. Lessons that are retaught yr after yr are those that all students seemed to enjoy and benefit greatly from. Modifications should be made to best fit the class the yr after. #ditchbook
A2: every year it is updated... needs to fit- learning styles, learning levels, class dynamic, and needs to be relevant to those who you have at that given moment. #ditchbook
A2: We've tried putting 1st problem on #GoogleClassroom to give Ss time to think before class starts, allowing students to respond with #flipgrid & take time to listen to others explanations #ditchbook
Don't you think @Google helps so well with this?!!? I may have a #hyperdoc I've created, but I tweak for student need. The versions capability lets me see all changes. #ditchbook#GTTribe
A2 At this point for my staff I'd flip it- they have the foundational #edtech knowledge. Let them identify good better best alternatives for different lesson needs. Student feedback? Raise hands? Google Doc? Backchannel? #flipgrid ? What else? #ditchbook
A1 Since I am student teaching, I haven't had as much experience seeing repeat lessons, but I remember that some classes in HS had lessons that were taught every year, that students always looked forward to participating in, and some that we didn't want to do. #ed4338#ditchbook
A2: An updated version tries to have a real-world connection, anything students can relate to or make a connection with. Also, whenever you can integrate technology into the lessons, students jump at the opportunity! #Ditchbook
A1 I changed grades a bit in the first few years in the classroom, but I tried to always include lessons that focused on students passions and choice. #ditchbook
a3- Updates for me have been- how do I make this authentic? How do we use this concept in the real world? --> let's learn and practice that way then #ditchbook
A2. It is my personal belief that all lessons are to be updated each yr. Simply because we have new students every year and all have different learning styles, learning levels, personal likes and dislikes #ditchbook
YES!!!! All the spirit fingers here. We are always growing as lead learners- what new skills to I have to kick this to a deeper or higher level? #ditchbook
Example, I would never attempt a lesson on 2 toughest learning targets the Fri b4 3 day weekend, but I did that today #DitchBook oh and did I mention 71 fifth graders! Powerful amazing fun
Depends on the group. Some are quick to come up with great ideas and others need a nudge from me. Just having them come up with ideas is part of the process. Adults seem to forget that a lot. #ditchbook
A2 just from personal experience, and what I have observed, the best way to update a lesson is to make it relevant to the students, which also means that we need to stay "hip" (I'm 22 and I already feel old around middle schoolers) #ed4338#ditchbook
That's the key question for a #transformational lesson in #edtech ! We're not replacing VHS with more expensive alternatives. What does the #edtech allow that couldn't otherwise be attained or learned in the traditional classroom? #ditchbook
A3- Teaches should not plan to do the thinking for the students. DI and scaffolding is important, but not the cure all. Sometimes we need to plan to step back and let Ss lead. #ditchbook
A3 Dittos, static worksheets, questions, etc. If a question can be answered by a simple Google search, it isn't a question worth our students' time. Teach them to ask and answer deep, insightful questions! #ditchbook

I think part of it is that adults didn't have that opportunity when they were in school... we teach as we were taught. It's hard to break that cycle. #ditchbook

I totally agree with this. I've met and seen teacher's teach the same lesson not realizing that they are teaching students with different mindsets and different interests than those they taught 5-10 yrs ago #ditchbook
I agree, but i think certain fields need that guided instruction more. Inquiry based teaching is more available in areas like science, social studies and English, where math is more skills based, and they need instruction for those skills! #Ditchbook
Very hard. Still running into the "I'm here to teach. Students are here to learn" mindset. Change is happening. We need to adapt as well or become irrelevant. #DitchBook
Continue to model growth mindset and innovation #IMMOOC in ourselves, model it for Ss, and remain positive. Negativity will not sway the masses. #DitchBook
It's all about process! But, yes, I've found high school teachers particularly resistant. "I'm the 'content specialist.'" Fair enough, but help the students learn the processes you used to become that knowledgable, not just the knowledge itself! #ditchbook

Or go to a workshop or conference. Get off the island. You'll be amazed at what you will discover. :) I try to spread that message. It's tough sometimes. #DitchBook
A4: Think about it from Ss perspective first. Then think about what #edtech tool can help get them where they need to be. Then let them be free-range chickens! #DitchBook
Agreed, especially since 10 yrs ago technology wasn't the biggest hit in schools, nor did we have access of it whenever we wanted. In today's schools, students are being provided with laptops and are being used to learn #ditchbook
When learning a skill, I usually find the I Do/We Do/You Do method works to introduce and build confidence with the skill, and then the activity is the chance for Ss to apply the skill in a meaningful way. #Ditchbook
Loving this thread. Yes, I had this very conversation today, Laura. Super frustrating. Seems leadership needs to really help moooove Ts along the 21st C continuum. Not fair for Ss! #Ditchbook

A4 The Techladen, Creative, Hands on is key... Give students #edtech to use and the ability to be creative in the application and they will write their own endings. You can even keep your existing beginnings! #ditchbook
A3: If Googling your question means the answer is one the first page of search results, then you aren't asking the right question. Go deeper, break down your classroom walls and get yourself and students out there! #DitchBook
